Family ties are an important theme explored in Netflix’s Sweet Tooth—and a recurrent one at that, given how all three seasons of the series took turns delineating the subject through different characters. Pubba and Big Man’s presence in Gus’ life was significant, as they became father figures to him. Similarly, Aimee Eden’s hybrid children had a happy and safe childhood thanks to the love and care their human mother had showered upon them. Through proper upbringing, these human parents had formed a strong character foundation for the young hybrid children, which allowed them to appreciate humanity and become better beings as well. In the third season, we see the other side of the spectrum through Zhang family issues, which clearly highlights how the toxic traits of families transfer through generations, be it in the case of humans or hybrids.

Ryan Seacrest knows a thing or two about following in the footsteps of a legend. After all, he not only cohosted Live With Kelly and Ryan in a seat once occupied by Regis Philbin, but he also stepped into beloved TV personality Dick Clark’s shoes to emcee Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest. So you might think he’d take the idea of standing beside Vanna White as Pat Sajak’s replacement on Wheel of Fortune in stride. But no. “I’m like a kid, so excited about just seeing the set, you know,” he told the Today show about his new gig coming this fall. And he admitted to E! News, “Of course I’m nervous. I haven’t done it yet, so I’m terrified!” ABC/Disney Even so, Seacrest is no stranger to game shows. He’s hosted the singing competition...

In the opening moments of Sweet Tooth’s very first episode, a deadly pandemic spreads and a new species of human-animal hybrids emerges. Over the course of the series, the third and concluding season of which is now streaming on Netflix, a crumbling society searches for answers, including to one very big question: Which came first, the hybrids or the virus? In the penultimate episode of Season 3, that long-standing question is definitively answered — and its consequences shape the show’s explosive finale.

An ever-upholding vanity project portrait of a dyed-in-the-annals sartorial icon, “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge” is an engaging enough documentary for the small screen but not big enough to merit anything more. That’s appropriate, as the movie heads to Hulu two and a half weeks after its Tribeca Festival premiere in a New York theater. Directors Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Trish Dalton’s film is a hagiographic survey of the life and career of the Jewish girl born in Belgium who married into German royalty, became a princess, and started a fashion empire that included the invention of the now-ubiquitous wrap dress. With talking heads including Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey, the documentary emerges more as agitprop for feminist galvanizing in the months up toward an election in which women’s rights are on the slab.

In Sweet Tooth season 2, we saw that “The Three” had risen to power after the chaos had spread throughout the entire world, and together, they sought to eliminate all the hybrids from the face of the Earth and become the masters of the new world. General Abbott, in the previous season, called a meeting as he believed that firstly, Dr. Aditya had a cure for the Sick, and secondly, he wanted to tell them about his project, which he called the Evergreen. Abbott had no clue that Aditya didn’t have the cure and that he was making a fool of himself by calling Dutch, Vox, and Helen Zhang for the meeting. He told them how he sought to create an establishment named Evergreen that would be no less than a paradise. Abbott also informed them that he had limited spots there, so he wouldn’t be able to accommodate everybody.

The talented geneticist named Dr. Gertrude Miller, aka Birdie in the Sweet Tooth franchise, who worked at Fort Smith, was one of those who had in-depth knowledge about the virus known as The Sick since she was the one who was researching it. She made some path-breaking discoveries, and she had a huge role to play in the creation of the hybrid that we all came to know as Gus. Birdie loved Gus, but she could never spend any time with him, a fact that later haunted her. Birdie left for Alaska because she had a lot of faith in her ability and her knowledge, and she knew somewhere that if there was a person who could actually find a cure for the Sick, then it was her. However, the woman lost a lot in the process, and moreover, she didn’t know if the path she had taken would lead her anywhere.

Maybe I am wrong, but for a complex, social species like us, survival isn’t enough. We have to feel alive, and for that, we need connections. And I guess Big Man, or Thomas Jepperd, knew that better than all of us. Being a former football player, Big Man understood the importance of teamwork and the associations one makes on the field. In the post-apocalyptic world, he spent an entire lifetime searching for his family. [Spoiler Alert] Big Man never met his family again, and he died in Alaska at the end of Sweet Tooth season 3, but if you are still interested in Big Man’s story and the mystery surrounding his death, then keep reading.

Sweet Tooth season 3 has finally been released on Netflix, and once again, we are made privy to the conflict that existed between the hybrids and the humans. As we saw in the previous two seasons, there were a bunch of humans who had formed an alliance whose purpose was to eliminate each and every hybrid from the face of the earth. These people believed that hybrids were responsible for the spread of the infection they termed the Sick. It was believed that Gus was the first hybrid that was created, and so the alliance led by General Abbott believed that finding him was the key to their solution. In the previous season, we saw that General Abbott and his army of Last Men perished, and Helen Zhang took charge of things. So, let’s find out what happened in Sweet Tooth season 3 and if Gus was able to find a cure.

It’s just the cruelty of a few that makes the entire human race monsters. “I am the most superior species on Earth, and I have the right to take it all,” is what drives this destructive tendency. But Sweet Tooth teaches us that humanity can not only survive but thrive by being compassionate towards each other, and yes, that includes all living beings. I actually started the finale season believing I would find answers to mysteries around the hybrids and the sick, but I was wrong. I was wrong in my approach. Sweet Tooth isn’t about all those conspiracies; instead, it is about the connections we make on our journey toward death and how we keep those friendships alive through stories. So, in a way, Sweet Tooth’s ending is all about Gus’ friendship with Big Man and how he kept it alive till the very end of it.

One of Netflix’s secret keys to success has been letting shows embrace their darkest elements. The overly managed shows that feel studio-noted to death always seem to fall flat. Yet Sweet Tooth has never really faced that problem. Very few shows can get away with the tone this comic-book adaptation cultivated in Season 1 or Season 2. Placing its story in the apocalypse and having an adult man protect a younger protagonist with special capabilities has rightfully drawn comparisons to The Last of Us. However, there’s something so endearing about Sweet Tooth that by the end of the final season, it has earned a place in Netflix’s Pantheon of great shows.

As far as post-apocalyptic dystopian narratives go, Jeff Lemire’s comic series Sweet Tooth might be the most depressing yet optimistic of them all. The prospect of nature hitting back at humanity’s egocentric advances and reclaiming its rightful place by exterminating humankind and creating human-animal hybrids is justified and optimistic, to say the least. But at the same time, the subjugation and oppression enacted on the hybrids by humanity once again work as a reminder of real-world treatment and exploitation of the animals and marginalized sections of society. Analyzing such heavy themes with serious philosophical undertones—that too in the mold of a coming-of-age storyline—is what made Sweet Tooth really unique, and that stands true for Netflix’s TV series adaptation of the comic series as well.

It finished the 1999-2000 season as the higest rated show on television with an average of 29+ million viewers.
Kimmel first stepped into Regis Philbin’s shoes back in April 2020 for a then-new network revival of the series, and returned later that year with a second season. It’s been on hiatus ever since.

Undeniably, Kelly Ripa has years of experience on Live. Specifically, she has more than 22 years of running the show alongside Regis Philbin, Ryan Seacrest, and now Mark Consuelos. Although Mark had a little preview of the work on the show before accepting the position full time, he didn’t really know what he was getting into. While he had the inside connection through his wife, Kelly, he didn’t truly understand how she was doing for him when he stepped into the guest host role. However, after taking on the responsibility of full time host, he recognizes she was prepping...

Everyone loves a nice, shiny title. “Best Pizza in the County!” “Tallest Building in the State!” “World’s Largest Pair of Underwear!” (Author’s Note: We had the honor of seeing these once; they ruled.)
But it seems like many a haunted house is said to be the most haunted in the country, without that being strictly possible — there can only be one. The title is sometimes proudly self-imposed or enthusiastically applied by visitors, but either way, it spreads and becomes a thing.
So Kristen and Will of Bloody FM’s Guide to the Unknown podcast have decided to start pitting these houses against each other in an informal bracket-style competition to see what, indeed, actually is the most haunted house in America, as decided by two completely unqualified people with nary a boot on the ground.

‘$la$her$’ Blu-ray Review: Terror Vision Unearths an Obscure 2001 Horror Movie With a Killer Premise
By late 2000, reality television was considered must-see entertainment by millions. Whether it was the drama and backstabbing tribal exploits of Survivor or Regis Philbin asking for the “final answer” on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, this boob tube subgenre was all the rage worldwide. Meanwhile, Japan has always been known for their off the wall, physically demanding gameshows like Takeshi’s Castle and Kunoichi.
Writer-director Maurice Devereaux (End of the Line) rode the wave of reality TV in an ocean of Japanese game show craziness on a surfboard crafted from The Running Man to bring the world $la$hers in 2001. And thanks to Terror Vision, who have been on a roll with their releases lately, we have a chance to revisit this Canadian direct-to-video flick. Despite how the title sounds, it is not supposed to be a straight-on horror film, but a satire in a horror film’s clothing, so to speak.

Ian Fleming is perhaps best known for being the creator of James Bond and the series of novels that center the character, but he's also the mind behind the 1964 children's novel "Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car," which was subsequently turned into the beloved, Academy Award-nominated fantasy movie musical and later, a stage musical. The story focuses on the Potts family, namely, siblings Jeremy and Jemima, who desperately try to set up their widowed inventor father Caractacus with a beautiful woman named Truly Scrumptious. And people had the audacity to make fun of the character names in "The Hunger Games" series? Tsk. Tsk. During a day at the beach, Caractacus tells the children a fantastical tale about the villainous Baron Bomburst, the tyrant ruler of the land of Vulgaria, and his attempts to steal their magical family car, the titular Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Everyone knows that Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are big fans of The Bachelor franchise, with their favorite spin-off being The Golden Bachelor.

Kathie Lee Gifford, long-time co-host with Regis Philbin before Kelly took over the show, is rumored to be on The Golden Bachelorette, premiering this fall.
After Joey Graziadei, the current guy on The Bachelor did not know who Kathie Lee Gifford was and got booed, Mark must have been thinking hard about who else would shine in the show.
During the host chat recently, Mark played what Kelly called a favorite game of his, “When I pass away first,” as she put it. If Kelly were to die, what would Mark do? Then, the talk turned to Kelly and...

Many professional athletes find it difficult to find other activities that replace the sport they love during their retirement.
Retired NFL star Michael Strahan moved on to other work as a television anchor, analyst, and game show host.
He’s regularly seen on ABC’s Good Morning America as a co-anchor alongside Robin Roberts and George Stephanopolous.
Viewers see Strahan on Fox NFL Sunday and other big NFL game days on Fox as an analyst with other former NFL players, including Howie Long, Terry Bradshaw, and Rob Gronkowski.
During a recent guest appearance on The Let’s Go! Podcast, Strahan’s friend Tom Brady asked him if there was anything he’s enjoyed most out of his post-football pursuits.
Strahan then revealed his “favorite thing” he’s been involved with in television following his NFL retirement.

When The Witcher season 4 starts streaming on Netflix, our hero Geralt of Rivia is going to have a whole new look. That’s because Henry Cavill is no longer involved, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt. Today, Deadline has revealed that Hemsworth is being joined in the cast of The Witcher season 4 by Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix and the John Wick franchise), who will be playing a character named Regis.
If you’re like me and don’t have any familiarity with the Witcher franchise outside of the Netflix show, chances are that the first person you think of when you see the name Regis is Regis Philbin. But, of course, Fishburne’s casting on this show is not going to require any sort of Philbin impression. Instead, the Regis character he’ll be playing is someone who was introduced in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire.

Jon Rosen, a longtime WME agent and executive who has represented some of TV’s best known news anchors and celebrity chefs, is leaving the Endeavor-owned agency to launch his own management firm, according to three people familiar with the matter.
Rosen, who represents NBC News’ Stephanie Ruhle, Willie Geist and Hallie Jackson as well as CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, is set to manage many of his current clients, according to one of these people, and they are expected to retain WME as an agency. A WME spokesperson did not respond immediately to a query seeking comment and Rosen could not be reached immediately for comment via a call Wednesday.
His exit comes as WME parent Endeavor has come under new scrutiny on Wall Street. The company, which recently helped create the combat-sports company Tko, suggested in October that it might consider going private.

Post-apocalyptic series often are centered around zombies or cannibals or even decimated factions of humanity fighting against each other for survival. Rarely are these stories about hope, and even more rarely are they appropriate for all audiences. But the Netflix series Sweet Tooth is the exception to the rule. Following a cast of young kids trying to survive an uncertain future, the Robert Downey Jr produced series is unlike any other television show.
Sweet Tooth became a massive summer hit for Netflix a couple of years ago, unmatched by any series besides Stranger Things. Based on the DC Comics series from Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth follows young Gus, a deer-human hybrid child born after a cataclysmic disease known as The Sick killed most of mankind during the Great Crumble period. In season one, Gus (Christian Convery) and Big Man (Nonso Anozie) traversed America to find Gus’ mother. Instead, they encountered The Last Men,...

Will Gus ever be reunited with Birdie or Big Man? Those are the two biggest questions lingering as we head into Sweet Tooth‘s sophomore season.
The premiere (all eight episodes are now available to stream on Netflix) begins with Birdie as she hunts for something in a frozen tundra. She hikes through snow and freezing temps to find a crevasse near some mountains she has stenciled on a map. Using a rope, she spelunks down between glaciers to find a pirate ship filled with purple flowers. But she also finds something of extreme importance: the journal of one Dr.

Even before HBO’s “The Last of Us” popularized the narrative of a post-apocalyptic world essentially being a way of mother nature striking a balance by curbing human egocentrism, there was Netflix’s adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic “Sweet Tooth.” In fact, readers who are well acquainted with the comics storyline will surely spot some instances of inspiration in “The Last of Us” as well, which goes beyond the similarity in the setting or character archetypes. However, coming back to the Netflix series, like multiple other media adaptations of comic-book-related properties, “Sweet Tooth” differs from its source material in some significant ways that range from minor details to the entire tone of the narrative styles. Now that the second season of the acclaimed series has been released, we would like to compare the first two seasons with the source material, i.e., comics, to help the viewers better appreciate both mediums.

Season one of “Sweet Tooth,” which debuted nearly two years ago during the height of Covid, was a revelation at the time. As the natural world seemed to be going to Hell, this show offered hope, joy, and love, even though it is set during a post-apocalypse where a deadly virus wiped out most of humanity. In fact, the most exciting aspect of the introductory story wasn’t the post-apocalyptic setting or the race to find a cure for “the Sick.” It’s the multiple scenes where Gus, aka Sweet Tooth, the young deer-human hybrid kid, is discovering his love of candy and developing his found-family relationships with Bear and Big Man.

The Last of Us struck a nerve with its story of a grizzled cynic shepherding a youngster across a treacherous post-apocalyptic America. But Sweet Tooth got there first, even if it didn’t create as much of a fuss. The dark Netflix YA drama premiered in June 2021, when the Covid pandemic was still very much top of mind. In telling the story of a little boy with deer antlers and his massive, taciturn protector, the show achieved an off-kilter, dystopian sweetness that made for a winning combination. Then it went away.
