The Chicago Fire Season 12 finale left fans with several cliffhangers.
One storyline revealed that firefighter Jack Damon (played by Michael Bradway) was the son of Benny Severide.
Benny was also the father of Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), making it a huge revelation for the firehouse.
While that final moment between Jack and Kelly impacted viewers, it overshadowed another unresolved storyline.
Earlier in the episode, firefighter Sam Carver was part of a call where it appeared that a young man was abusing his brother, and the father wasn’t doing anything.
It resurrected trauma that Carver had experienced in his childhood, and it only got worse when Violet Mikami accused Carver of still having feelings for Stella Kidd.
Carver left the firehouse after that fight and we later learned he had taken another furlough. Carver was then shown sitting in his vehicle and not answering calls from Violet.

10. Benjamin Severide
While not exactly the most morally perfect character, Benny Severide was definitely a memorable one. Chief Boden’s former colleague and a legendary firefighter, he was a terrible family guy at best — and yet fans couldn’t help but want more of him on the screen… That’s not Benny’s achievement as much as late Treat Williams’.
9. Erik McAuley
Another massive charmer, Erik McAuley is primarily known as the one paramedic who managed to piss off everyone in Firehouse 51. His condescending remarks and annoying attitude might have been infuriating for his on-screen colleagues, but many fans genuinely loved the man for his classic Debby Downer personality.

Chicago Fire Season 12 has come to an end, and now we're turning our attention to the next installment.
Was this season our favorite? No, definitely not.
But it had its moments, and it certainly set us up for some major drama when the show returns in the fall.
After the stunning revelation that Eamonn Walker will not be returning (at least not in the same capacity), we're left to wonder how 51 will handle a leadership change.
Plus, several huge relationship-related bombs were dropped during the season finale that season 13 will have to address.
Does Violet love Carver back? Will next season deliver a Stellaride baby? How will Kelly deal with the news of another long-lost half-sibling?
Chicago Fire Season 2 Episode 7 Review: No Regrets
Hopefully, all these questions and more will be answered when the show returns.
For now, here's everything we know about what to expect from Chicago Fire Season 13.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains storylines from “Never Say Goodbye,” the May 22 Season 12 finale of “Chicago Fire.”
It was a night for goodbyes on “Chicago Fire.” The Season 12 finale was the final episode for Eamonn Walker as Battalion Chief Wallace Boden. The actor, who has served as the chief of Firehouse 51 since the series debuted in 2012, will no longer appear as a series regular beginning next season.
After a hard call, Boden decided to throw his hat into the ring for the job of Deputy Commissioner, mostly because those in the running (specifically Chief Robinson) wouldn’t be able to lead in a way that the department deserves. If he was to become DC, he’d have to leave 51 for good. After telling the team, he then told Herrmann (David Eigenberg) that in the slim chance he got the promotion, he’d like him to take over his job.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Chicago Fire Season 12 finale “Never Say Goodbye.”] “You made 51 a family, Chief, and this firehouse a home,” Cruz (Joe Minoso) tells Boden in Eamonn Walker‘s last Chicago Fire episode as a series regular. That sums up who Boden is perfectly. He’s back, after helping out James, and determined to keep Chief Robinson from becoming Deputy Commissioner. He also catches up with Severide (Taylor Kinney), who filled in for him while he was gone, and the lieutenant remarks on how much of his job is counseling, something that Herrmann (David Eigenberg) has a knack for. Then, at a structure collapse, Boden goes up on a ladder to help a foreman who’s hanging onto a rope off a suspended platform, only for the man to slip and fall—before the bag below is ready. Actress Miranda Rae Mayo shared some Chicago Fire spoilers about the big season finale.
One of the recognizable stars from the One Chicago shows, Miranda plays Lieutenant Stella Kidd.
Kidd was absent from the latest episode as Firehouse 51 dealt with the loss of Truck 81. Through character conversations, we learned she was in California hot on the trail of a new truck.
Things got more tense with Paramedic Chief Robinson, though, after Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) reported her right-hand man (Lennox) for nearly killing a patient in the field.
People have had to step up and lead the house recently. The absence of Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) has led to some interesting storylines.
Unfortunately, part of the season finale includes an “emotional farewell” to Boden.

There won’t be a dry eye in the station, and not because of spray from a hose. Chicago Fire original cast member Eamonn Walker is stepping away from his series regular duties on the hit NBC series after 12 seasons portraying boss Wallace Boden.
His finale is next Wednesday, and the promo for his farewell promises a lot of emotion.
While there have been multiple cast changes of late on OneChicago, his Wallace Boden character is still very much alive and well, sources said, and Walker is expected to return to the show in a recurring capacity in the future.
Fans will find more clarity regarding what’s been happening with Boden and his plans moving forward in the Season 12 finale, “Never Say Goodbye,” airing on May 22.
The character has been on a short leave of absence due to personal family matters, leaving Severide (Taylor Kinney) in charge, but will return for the finale.

While Cruz (Joe Minoso) has thrived at work, including filling in as leader of Squad while Severide (Taylor Kinney) was away earlier this season (despite the conflict that arose upon the other firefighter’s return), his home life is a different story. Chloe (Kristen Gutoskie) wants them to go to couples therapy, but some of their troubles stem from things he can’t change about his work. In the May 15 episode, “Under Pressure,” their problems come to a head. “Cruz and Chloe will come to a big realization in episode 1212 about what’s been eating away at their relationship, and once they put this fine point on it, they’ll have to see if and how they can manage it,” executive producer Andrea Newman tells TV Insider. “They love each other,...

Many Chicago Fire characters have been missing in action this season, leading to questions about their whereabouts.
The absences became particularly pronounced during the latest episode (Inside Man), where Kelly Severide (played by Taylor Kinney) got taken for a ride by some domestic terrorists.
Truck 81 was stolen from Firehouse 51, forcing the remaining people on shift to work together with Chicago P.D. to track down and save Severide.
With Chief Boden still on leave and Severide mysteriously gone, it fell upon the other leaders of the firehouse to lead the rescue.
The action helped shift some of the focus away from the fact that Mouch (Christian Stolte) and Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) were also gone.
Within the storylines, Mouch was at a training session, Carver was on furlough, and Boden was off helping his stepson.

When Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) woke up later that evening, she discovered that Severide and Truck 81 were missing, leading to an intense investigation.
Chief Boden and Severide were gone, leaving Kidd to take the lead at the firehouse as Chicago P.D. was called in to help.
Severide stopped the terrorists, and the team came to his rescue as the episode ended, but Boden was still Mia.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 11 “Inside Man.”] For its 250th episode, Chicago Fire took a page out of Die Hard‘s book: Men break into Firehouse 51 and steal Truck 81—but unbeknownst to them, Severide (Taylor Kinney) hopped on it! The firefighters, of course, call in the Cpd, and during the investigation, Ritter (Daniel Kyri) shares his suspicions about the newest recruit, Damon (Michael Bradway), who has been very vocal about his love for the firehouse (but lied about taking one of Severide’s classes at the academy) and has a reason he’s not sharing for being there. In other words, 51 is not having an easy time replacing Gallo (Alberto Rosende) or Brett (Kara Killmer); Violet (Hanako Greensmith) has brought Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) in full-time but she’s still very much a question mark. “New characters also bring out new sides of all of 51’s residents, so it’s been a...

The thought of losing any of our favorite Chicago Fire characters is painful, but this one cuts extra deep.
Eamonn Walker, who has portrayed Wallace Boden for the series' entire run, has announced his plans to step back from the show.
We're told that he intends to stay involved on some level, but 51 as we know it won't be the same.
Boden's absence has already been felt in the recent episodes, during which the chief was dealing with personal family issues and taking time off work.
Losing this character is a huge hit for the series. Chicago Fire is currently in its 12th season, and Chief Boden has been a staple for every single season so far.
What does this mean for 51? There's a lot we don't know, but here's what's been announced so far:

Some disappointing Chicago Fire spoilers have just been revealed.
Eamonn Walker, who has played Chief Boden on the NBC drama for 12 years, is out as a series regular.
The previous episode of Chicago Fire showed what a Bodenless Firehouse 51 looks like, as Kelly Severide (played by Taylor Kinney) was left in charge.
That’s not a temporary situation, it turns out, as bad news has been revealed about the future of Chief Boden
Boden has served as a father figure for the family at Firehouse 51. Even when he took a new position, he had his office at the firehouse.
But now, some heavy hints have been revealed about the character’s future. It will mean a shift in the tone for the One Chicago show.
Eamonn Walker is no longer a series regular
According to Deadline, Eamonn Walker is stepping away as a series regular. It means he will no longer be a primary character.

Sound the alarm — Chicago Fire is hitting 250 episodes. The firefighter drama that kicked off Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise on NBC back in 2012 is still going strong in Season 12. In a Today interview from 2021 — when Chicago Fire was celebrating its 200th episode — star Taylor Kinney attributed the show’s success to the “sense of family” and the “chemistry of the cast” that Wolf, an executive producer, helped cultivate. “People see the way we get along,” he said. “It’s a tight-knit group.” But which episodes are the best of the best? Discounting episodes from the ongoing 12th season, the following installments comprise the top 10, according to average ratings from IMDb voters. Paramedic Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) was introduced in the previous episode as the new partner for Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith).
Novak stepped in after Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) sent Jared Lennox (Wesam Keesh) packing. Lennox didn’t fit at Firehouse 51, as the team sought a replacement for Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer).
Violet wasn’t sure about Novak at first, but she was won over by Novak’s skills in the field and outgoing personality.

Chicago Fire has proven itself over the course of its twelve-season run.
One of its most senior cast members, Taylor Kinney, has given the show (and its fans) plenty to love in his years of playing Kelly Severide.
Because Kinney took a leave of absence during Season 11 following a mysterious personal matter, fans have long feared that a more permanent absence could be on the horizon for Severide.
Given how much character development had been invested into Severide, it's obvious why the show opted to keep his future open while Kinney was on leave.
Good thing, too, because he came back in Season 12 with a bang and seems to be home for good — at least for now.
Severide and his relationship with his wife, fellow firefighter Stella Kidd, have been a huge point of interest for the show.
Fans love their chemistry, and we all enjoyed watching them get their happy ending.

Even though Severide still has an affinity for solving arons, he has committed to being more open about it with Kidd. The couple did have some stumbles earlier this season, but Stellaride appears to be on the same page now.

Another firefighter has come and gone on “Chicago Fire.” Rome Flynn, who portrayed Jake Gibson in the NBC procedural, made his final appearance during the March 27 episode.
“Curtain call chicago fire,” Flynn posted via Instagram following the episode. During the hour, Gibson became noticeably angry after he began having withdrawals from prescription drugs. After having a breakdown, he told Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) that he needed to leave and enter treatment.
