Every show has a bunch of iconic relationships that actually turn into the best storylines which people follow with all their attention. And those relationships are not always romantic: friendships are also a popular thing in many shows.
And while there are plenty of series that have female friendship as a central plot, like, for example, Sex and the City or Desperate Housewives, male friendship is rarely put on the pedestal.
However, it doesn’t mean bromance doesn’t exist, so here we have 5 shows that highlight close relationships between guys.
1. Friends: Joey and Chandler
There’s no way we would have started the list with another couple. While Friends is literally the show about six of them, it was clear from the beginning that these two guys share a special bond.
The series even has several episodes which revolve around their friendship, like the one with bro bracelets...

Chris Pratt’s work in Parks and Recreation or Parks and Rec made him land major franchises like the MCU and Jurassic World. To make it funnier, the Marvel actor improvised his scenes throughout the show. Pratt’s improvisation also led him to deliver the best joke in the show in its third season.
The co-creator of the show, Michael Scur, described that as a writer, he was extremely angry to see the Marvel actor going off-script to present the memorable scene from the show.
Chris Pratt in Parks and Recreation | NBC
Michael Schur is a renowned comedy show creator with experience in some critically acclaimed comedies like The Office (USA), Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and The Good Place. His association with Parks and Rec guaranteed that the show would be a success, but Chris Pratt also came out as a surprise package and made a lasting impact.

Plot: A mild-mannered psychology professor (Glen Powell) interested in electronics takes a sideline bugging undercover cops in sting operations, specializing in setting up phony hits. When the usual undercover guy is suspended, he’s enlisted to pose as a hitman. He turns out to be a natural at undercover work, with the police using him to entrap people taking out contracts. Things get complicated when he falls for an abused wife (Adria Arjona) wanting to take out her husband.
Review: Richard Linklater’s Hit Man is the movie where Glen Powell finally becomes a legit star. Granted, there was little to no doubt remaining in anyone’s head after his breakout turn in Top Gun: Maverick, but in Hit Man, his charisma is so white hot and old-school in that true movie star way that he should rocket to the top of everyone’s young leading man list. When it comes to the race to win an Emmy, there will be a collective buzz around the award’s 60+ categories until Sept. 15 when we find out who gets the gold.
Arguably one of the most highly competitive awards doesn’t happen at the main event but the weekend before at the Creative Arts ceremony. That’s when the winners in the four guest performer categories (which include guest actor and actress in both comedy and drama genres) are awarded for a one-time or re-curring role. (Think Jamie Lee Curtis’ two-episode performance on FX’s “The Bear” — a likely candidate.)
In looking back at early precursors, this award has quite a checkered past with numerous category name changes and head-scratching nominee groupings over the years. For example, in 1977, the bracket was called outstanding single appearance in a comedy or drama series. There was no separation by genre, so nominees included...

There’s nothing more entertaining in the world of TV than a sitcom. You can just turn on a funny ensemble cast show and just chill for several hours while the characters go on with their bizarre storylines that will definitely make you laugh.
For many of us one of the most rewatchable sitcoms has been The Big Bang Theory, but redditors suggest you pay enough attention to these 5 shows instead.
1. New Girl (2011-2018)
For fans of quirky characters, this sitcom is a perfect choice. When a young girl named Jess finds out that her boyfriend is a cheater, she has to move out and start a new life on her own. But instead – she ends up in a loft with three single guys.
Needless to say, they all have their cringeworthy traits, and together they form the most dysfunctional group you can imagine. Anyway, somehow they make it work.

Back in 1988, the world saw the success of an action flick following a one-man war against a gang of ruthless thieves. The first Die Hard movie made Bruce Willis one of the most demanded genre’s actors and started the successful movie franchise.
Die Hard’s legacy lives on to this day too, as there are many attempts to ride the same hype train or to mock the genre’s classic tropes. These include quite a controversial action flick that is now reigning supreme in Prime Video’s global top.
Its plot revolves around an actor who faces a career crisis and sees a way out in his idea to make a brand new action movie that can rekindle people’s interest in him. However, you can already guess that everything doesn’t go according to his plans.

Everyone's favorite Chicago attorney came to the Big Apple as the "police of the police" to keep an eye on the boys in blue while lending a hand to the NYPD string of murder cases.
By the end of Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 1, viewers found out that the lawyer turned sleuth was in NYC for a different matter entirely.
Elsbeth was sent to watch Captain Wagner, but that didn't stop this intrepid purveyor of truth from cracking one murder case after another.
One of the first things audiences likely noticed about this series is that it is a spinoff of a spinoff, as Elsbeth first appeared in The Good Wife.
She then went to The Good Fight, where she continued her quirky approach and eventually got her own series.
Elsbeth has a much more fun and whimsical tone than its fellow series, all of which are part of The Good Wife franchise.

More money, more problems. That seems to be the motto of Netflix’s brand new competition series, in which one contestant is saddled with a $1 million prize as the other 11 players fight to hunt them down and claim it for themselves.
The series, with the working title “Million Dollar Secret,” will be hosted by Peter Serafinowicz, the British comedian and actor whose credits include “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Shaun of the Dead,” “John Wick: Chapter 2” and “Spy.”
Here’s how the competition works, in Netflix’s own words: “The million-dollar prize is won by one of 12 players right at the start of the first episode. Now, the others will hunt them down – eliminate the millionaire and the money moves to someone new. When should they strike? Back in October of 2022, it was announced that legendary filmmaker John Waters, who has brought us such films as Pink Flamingos, Hairspray, Cry-Baby, Serial Mom, Cecil B. We’ve since heard that Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) is up for the lead role in the film, which would mark Waters’ first time directing since 2004’s A Dirty Shame… but if you’ve been wondering why Liarmouth still hasn’t made it into production a year and a half after it was announced, Waters gives an answer in a new interview with IndieWire: he hasn’t been able to get funding for it.
When asked for a Liarmouth status update, Waters said, “I’m not going to… [Starts to laugh.] Every time I comment on that, some article comes out that causes me hell,...

Back in 2013, five years prior to the release of ‘Infinity War,’ Patton Oswalt ad-libbed lines about the MCU. In the TV show ‘Parks and Recreation,’ Oswalt’s character, Garth Blundin, shares his Marvel/Star Wars crossover fan fiction to deter Leslie Knope from altering Pawnee’s laws.
Despite being entirely improvised in April 2013, Oswalt’s character accurately foreshadowed Thanos gathering the Infinity Stones to confront the Avengers in the MCU.

Here’s the cast of Episode 5 of Netflix’s Tires, an episode that sees the auto shop hosting a desperate bikini car wash.
The new streaming comedy is presented similarly to fan-favorite workplace comedies The Office and Parks and Recreation. However, this time, audiences get to follow the shenanigans around an automotive shop.
Steve Gerben’s Will runs Valley Forge Automotive Center, an auto shop struggling to perform financially, and with acquiring customers—something made all the more difficult by his co-workers.

Patton Oswalt saw the future. Or, at least his Parks and Recreation character did.
Speaking during a visit on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, Oswalt recalled a 2013 episode where he played an angry Pawnee resident who engages in a filibuster. The rambling speech morphs into a pitch of his idea for a Marvel and Star Wars crossover film.
“So the scene was supposed to be [that] I announce I’m gonna do this filibuster and then they cut to Amy’s character, Leslie, just going ‘Oh dear God,’ and that would be the joke,” Oswalt recounted. “And then the directors and the writers said, ‘Let’s not yell cut and just see how long he’ll talk.’”
Oswalt did his best to keep it going.
“[Marvel] had not done Guardians of the Galaxy. When I say Time Gem [one of the Infinity Stones], they cut to Chris Pratt. This was way before he did Guardians,” Oswalt explained.

For fans browsing Netflix, here are the cast and characters of the new Tires comedy series on the streaming platform.
In the same vein as The Office or Parks and Recreation, Tires is a workplace comedy that follows Steve Gerben’s Will as he struggles to run Valley Forge Automotive Center daily—an existence that is often interrupted by rowdy co-workers or problematic customers.

The new Netflix streaming comedy Tires is in the vein of single-camera sitcoms from Greg Daniels or Michael Schur. Yet, Tires is far from being on par with The Office or Parks and Recreation. In fact, this will probably be the first and last time the new Shane Gillis comedy is mentioned in the same breath as those classic sitcoms.
That’s because Tires is a poor imitation of those workplace comedies. At its worst, the new sitcom can be tedious, grating, and painfully unfunny. At its best, the series is something you have on in the background—a harmless, politically incorrect excursion. Yes, the jokes are on the hapless and clueless characters. However, that doesn’t make it good or mean its heart is in the right place.

When you think about shows that have gone off the rails, Riverdale, Dexter, Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, or Glee usually come to mind.
The majority of the time, it isn't enjoyable. The digression can make for poor television.
However, there are certain cases where it makes TV gold.
Creating Uniqueness
Keeping an audience interested and on the edge of their seats can be challenging.
We want to be enthralled, but that comes with the fact that doing this means changing plots, characters, or many other factors.
Going off the rails does not always have to be a negative thing.
Community, for example, started as a traditional sitcom, but its ever-evolving nature created a cult classic and a truly entertaining hit that never became stagnant.
And then there's The Leftovers, a drama that significantly changed after its first season.

Some folks prefer to spend their TV hours soaking up procedural dramas.
Others prefer a soapy historical fiction.
As for me, I will die on the hill that the mockumentary-style sitcom is the best genre on television.
There's no way to discuss every masterpiece, so we'll focus on a few examples of mockumentary shows.
Why do they work?
Let me count the ways. First, it's the absence of the fourth wall for me.
There's something special about creating a universe with characters and ever-so-slightly unrealistic situations and making your audience feel like they're part of it.
Take The Office, for example. When Jim looks directly into the camera after Michael or someone says something absurd, we get to be in on the joke.
Instead of being spectators stuck on the other side of the screen, it's like we're transported into the bullpen, nodding in understanding as Jim stares down the lens.

There's nothing like a good sitcom after a long day of hard work. No matter how tired or upset you are, there are some shows that can make all your worries go away in just a few episodes, and for that they're considered truly iconic. It just so happens that a good portion of them come from NBC.
So, if you thought NBC was only a home for dark and gritty procedural franchises, check out the list of shows below to remind yourself how many other shows the network has released, Law & Order and One Chicago aside.
Cheers (1982-1993)
The classic bar-centric sitcom that followed a bartender and his friends and co-workers could have been canceled in 1982. The show failed to impress viewers from the start, but later redeemed itself to become one of the most popular and highly rated television shows of all time. Thanks to NBC, it survived to air 11 more seasons.

After his famed role as Don Draper on AMC’s critically acclaimed drama series Mad Men, Jon Hamm has experienced a particularly peculiar career transition in recent years. Also known for his work in Sucker Punch & Top Gun: Maverick, the actor, 53, has acted in both highly regarded film and TV roles during his career.
But did you know, nestled within his portfolio of work, there lies a film that has almost slipped through the cracks of cinematic memory?
John Hamm in Stolen | 2 Bridges Productions
In 2009, he took on the role in Stolen, a frequently overlooked chapter of Hamm’s life that true cinephiles may recall. Though the actor’s renowned charm and depth could elevate any role, this murder mystery remarkably stood as an endeavor that slipped past audiences and critics alike.

Aubrey Plaza was on hand to promote her latest movie, Megalopolis—the Francis Ford Coppola epic science fiction drama decades in the making—at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
I love Plaza’s often whimsical and quirky red carpet style, but I’m not thrilled with her Loewe Cannes Film Festival premiere ensemble. Fortunately, she quickly redeemed herself at the Megalopolis photocall by wearing a summery Miu Miu outfit.

10. Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005–2008)
An instant classic of an animated movie, Avatar: The Last Airbender has seen too many failed attempts at its live adaptations, but the original still stands unmatched.
In the world of Avatar, some people are able to bend the elements, and one chosen can bend all four of them — and this time, it’s a boy who must also save the world.
You can watch Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix and Apple TV.
9. House (2004–2012)
When it comes to fan favorite fictional sociopaths, few characters stand as popular as Dr. House (save for BBC’s Sherlock who famously did not have a perfect finale). The cynical and anti-social House is a brilliant medic who saves lives in cases his colleagues can’t crack, but he does it while being a massive thorn in their backs.

I’m going to tell you something that will instantly rattle a millennial body to its core: “Glee,” the Fox musical dramedy that became a phenomenon before becoming a dark cultural tale, premiered 15 years ago, on May 19, 2009.
To make you feel slightly better about the passage of time, that date is a bit of a cheat: Because Fox suspected it had an honest-to-goodness hit on its hands, the network premiered the first episode after the “American Idol” Season 8 finale in May, before beginning the full season a few months later in September.
Still, May 19 was the day the world first was re-reminded of the wonder of “Don’t Stop Believin,’” witnessed the instantly iconic combo of cringe and charisma that was Rachel Berry/Lea Michele, and considered the shocking declaration that someone could be both an athlete and a singer.

Aubrey Plaza is a charming actress and delightful comedian, but what catches the attention of her fans the most are the very quirky characters she often chooses to portray. In her breakthrough role in Parks and Recreation, the actress is deadpan and sarcastic, while in her latest The White Lotus’ the actress is known for her cynicism while battling marital tension. Even in the upcoming Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, the actress plays an ambitious power-hungry journalist.

"The Office" is one of the greatest television comedies of all time, which is probably why it's still one of the most popular streaming titles (with rights previously costing $500 million) nearly a decade after it premiered on NBC. Despite a few rough seasons in the back half of the show's run, the series still stands tall as a pinnacle of small screen hilarity. Those low points came after showrunner/creator Greg Daniels left the series at the end of season four to focus on "Parks & Recreation," and they got worse after Michael Scott left Dunder Mifflin (something Steve Carell didn't exactly choose to do).
With both of those pillars of "The Office" gone, the writers struggled to fill the holes left in the show, both comedically and narratively, by making Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) the new manager and leaning more into the family drama of Jim (John Krasinski) and...

Adam Scott might have the most thankless part in Madame Web. He exists simply to share the screen with a listless Dakota Johnson and trade expository dialogue about how her character Cassie Webb doesn’t like children or anything related to family—obnoxious signposts to give the movie something like a character arc. Cast to bring the good will he earned playing wholesome snarks in Party Down and Parks and Recreation, Scott delivers his lines with a wry reserve that feels like resignation.
And yet, Scott’s mere presence in the film gives Madame Web an important quality lacking in all of Spider-Man’s MCU appearances. Because Scott isn’t playing any guy who shows way too much concern for his co-worker’s disinterest in being a mother; he’s playing Ben Parker, beloved and ill-fated uncle to Peter Parker.

Aubrey Plaza first rose to stardom when she portrayed the role of April Ludgate in the renowned TV Series Parks and Recreation. Since then the actress never had to look, as she has gone on to work in some of the most successful films, leaving an indelible mark in the film industry. However, Plaza is not done with portraying iconic characters as she is set to be featured in Francis Ford Coppola’s upcoming passion project titled Megalopolis.

Exclusive: Fox is tripling down on The Floor.
The network has handed the Rob Lowe-hosted game show a second and third season after its first season performed well for the network and was spoofed on Saturday Night Live.
The news comes ahead of Fox’s Upfront, which is being held in New York tomorrow.
The show, which Deadline revealed had landed at Fox last June, premiered on January 2. It ran for ten episodes through to the end of February.
The network said that the premiere episode amassed 4.4M multi-platform viewers after seven days of viewing, per Nielsen data, which is a 73% boost from the 2.5M that tuned in same-day, making it the network’s most-streamed game show ever and the network’s most-watched Tuesday unscripted debut in more than 13 years, since Masterchef premiered in 2010. It continued to perform well over its season.

Looking at the crop of new scripted series selected by the broadcast networks for 2024-25, one cannot help but reminisce about the 20th anniversary of what may have been broadcast television’s greatest season ever.
The 2004-05 season introduced several genre-defying series — all but one based on original ideas — whose impact on TV storytelling is still being felt: Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, House, The Office and Veronica Mars. Remarkably, one of them, Grey’s Anatomy is still around, having just been renewed by ABC for Season 21, along with another show that premiered that same season, animated comedy American Dad!.
Aside from the fact that the current economic realities of the TV business will likely never support another drama going to 21 seasons, broadcast networks will also likely never take chances on so many unconventional ideas: a sci-fi drama on a deserted island that set the tone for modern genre fare, a...

Casting Chris Pratt as Star-Lord was a pretty big gamble for Marvel. After all, to most of us he was the man-child Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation and nothing more. Fortunately for Pratt and the MCU, director James Gunn saw something special in him. While a number of actors also auditioned for the part, one who still remembers that moment and why he didn’t land Peter Quill is Joel Edgerton, who is well aware he just didn’t understand the tone they were going for.
Appearing on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast (via Variety), Joel Edgerton remembered Guardians of the Galaxy being one of the most high-profile projects he missed out on, probably for good reason. “Star-Lord’s a good one, actually, because I, unlike Chris [Pratt], didn’t quite sort of understand the tone of it the way he did and the way that those guys did. And...
