With over 80 acting credits and more than two decades in the acting industry, it’s safe to say that Lars Mikkelsen is one to look out for. The Danish-born actor is well-known for his versatility and stellar skills as a whole. Even more, he’s practically acting royalty but has managed to stand free of anyone’s shadow. Mikkelsen is well-known both on the big and small screen and has appeared in movies like Headhunter and the Danish film Winter Brothers. In television, the actor has been in titles like House Of Cards, Ashoka, and The Witcher. However, there’s more to him...

“Star Wars: Ahsoka,” the latest series in Disney+’s ever-expanding “Star Wars” empire, has been given an August 23 release date and a teaser. The TV spot, which is available to watch now, will air on Wednesday during the NBA Finals’ Game 3.
The footage featured in the commercial was first revealed at Star Wars Celebration in April and a trailer that followed. But what’s odd about this TV spot is what it excludes — the teaser that was shown during Celebration also included revelation of Thrawn’s face, which was only shown in-house. Also, the original teaser showed several scenes of the Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll.
Stevenson, who passed in May, had previously spoken to TheWrap about his excitement about joining the project, saying, “you pinch yourself.” Despite the late actor’s enthusiasm for the project, he does not appear in this first TV spot.

The 16th annual Black List survey was released on Monday, showcasing 80 of the most popular un-produced scripts from up-and-coming screenwriters.
This year’s list was compiled from suggestions of over 375 film executives, who contributed up to 10 feature screenplays that were written in, or somehow uniquely associated with 2020 and will not begin principal photography during the year. Scripts had to receive mentions from at least seven of those executives to be included on this year’s Black List.
The first survey was released in 2005. Since then many of the included scripts have gone on to be produced, often to great acclaim. Among the most notable entries are “Argo,” “Spotlight,” “Juno,” “American Hustle,” “Slumdog Millionaire,” and “The Revenant.” Recent Black List-appearing films include Melina Matsoukas’s 2019 movie “Queen & Slim,” written by Lena Waithe with a story co-authored by James Frey, which was featured on the 2018 Black List; and Emerald Fennell’s “Promising Young Woman,...

Scripts about a cannibal who devours people with the most Instagram followers, a Cold War submarine thriller and a coming-of-age story about an Asian basketball player have topped the list of the annual Black List for 2020.
The 16th edition of the Black List featured 80 different scripts from 80 different screenwriters, with each screenplay getting at least seven mentions from a poll of 375 film industry executives, up from last year when just 66 made the list. The list is not a “best of” but a list of the most “liked” scripts by executives, and some already have financing.
Topping the Black List with 29 mentions is “Headhunter” by Sophie Dawson, which is described as a movie about a cannibal, who hunts Instagram influencers and determines who to eat based on how many followers they have, only to have his habits shaken when he meets someone who actually wants to be eaten.

Few genre movies are as perfect as RoboCop. So of course they tried to milk it to death.
Paul Verhoeven’s RoboCop is a nearly perfect blend of action film pyrotechnics, horror movie gore, revenge flick angst, and a superhero origin story. Packed with profanity, satire, incredible sound design, and charismatic villains, RoboCop seemed destined for cinematic immortality and introduced a main character who practically begged for broader exploitation. Over the next 25 years, there were plenty of attempts to maximize RoboCop’s franchise potential. Whether it was the limitations of the character or the imaginations of the people involved, none of these ever quite managed to put it all together.
RoboCop is a product of its time. Fully loaded with Reagan-era cynicism and endless hallmarks from that golden age of action movie excess, there’s a razor’s edge that RoboCop manages to walk. Neither a total...

Well, well. It seems Mads isn’t the only acting Mikkelsen. Though Lars Mikkelsen has yet to develop the same sort of international profile as has his brother Mads the word is that home in Denmark Lars has long been known as one of the nation’s finest character actors. It’s just that those of us outside of Denmark haven’t had the chance to see him in action. But now we can. Mikkelsen takes a rare lead in Headhunter, a new thriller from director Rumle Hammerich.
A thriller set in the upper echelons of the business world. Martin Vinge, a former hardcore reporter, now a successful headhunter with a complicated personal life, lands a confidential assignment to locate a new heir to Denmark’s biggest shipping and oil empire. As Martin starts searching for potential candidates, he soon realises that he is becoming entangled in a far-reaching, impenetrable...
