James Gunn is not the one to walk away from creating a bizarro world in his films. The DC chief has one chance to bring one of the grossest scenes in the comic books to the screen in the Dcu. Last year, DC Comics introduced a designer metahuman, Metawoman, who could rapidly alter her genetic code to confront any threat. She went up against the Doom Patrol in Unstoppable Doom Patrol #5, released in 2005.

However, the team of Doom Patrol consists of some of the universe’s most strangest heroes and even Metawoman couldn’t handle their weird and wild abilities. In one of the grossest scenes in the comics, the hero uncontrollably turns into a giant ugly monster.

The dynamic between Daredevil and Kingpin has been set in stone ever since they appeared together in the comics for the very first time. A superhero desperate to clean up his city and a mob boss who, oddly enough, has the same goal.

Their rivalry isn’t one of good and evil but lies in the moral complexities of their life missions. Where one wants to make good happen in their city by exterminating the bad, the other wants the bad to implode within itself, destroying everything horrid by getting his own hands dirty.

While this moral battle has been one of the most interesting parts of Charlie Cox’s series, its upcoming reboot may bring about a story much more interesting than the 2015 masterpiece. One that would force these...

Lucasfilm's latest Star Wars series, The Acolyte, debuted on Disney+ earlier this week with a two-episode premiere, and a lot of people have tuned in for the first live-action Galaxy Far, Far Away adventure set in the High Republic Era.
Despite the usual backlash, The Acolyte was a big hit with critics (it currently sits at a most impressive 93% on Rotten Tomatoes) and the positive reviews appear to have convinced more than just Star Wars aficionados to give this one a go.
According to Disney+, The Acolyte is the most-watched series premiere of 2024, logging 4.8 million views within its first day of streaming (views are defined as total stream time divided by runtime). Every so often, a pitch for a television show that never got off the ground leaks onto the internet. More often than not, it’s an original idea; other times, it’s a pitch to revive an older intellectual property. Well, this has just happened when a pitch bible for a reboot of the classic Disney One Saturday Morning cartoon Recess was discovered.
For those who may not remember, Recess was a series created by Paul Germain and Joe Ansolabehere in 1997 for Disney’s One Saturday Morning block. The show followed a group of six friends, all fourth graders, enjoying that special time of day: Recess. The show not only gave us fun adventures with the gang but also commentary on society and social norms through the eyes of a child.
The series ran from 1997 to 2001 and had 65 episodes. It concluded with the theatrical film Recess: School’s Out in 2001 and a handful of direct-to-video specials.

Daredevil: Born Again went through a major creative overhaul to bring it more in line with the Netflix series. While significant changes have been made, the main story is expected to remain the same.
Based on what we've pieced together, Wilson Fisk becomes New York City Mayor and clamps down on vigilantes. Meanwhile, The Punisher is hunting down corrupt cops, the vigilante White Tiger is on trial, and a serial killer, Muse, is causing chaos in Hell's Kitchen.
The Cosmic Circus recently shared some MCU updates, including plans for the villain in the upcoming Disney+ TV series.
"What I’ve heard about Muse is that his character will fan the flames of chaos in the show," the site teases. "He’ll be very sinister and deranged and will actually be an antagonist to not only Daredevil but also Kingpin, which will be an interesting dynamic to see play out."

It seems like the Marvel Cinematic Universe is back on track with Deadpool & Wolverine. The hype for the film is ever so high, as the movie is set to make several changes in the official MCU timeline. One of them is the formal assimilation of mutants and finally bringing the X-Men home after years of waiting.
X-Men [Credit: 20th Century Studios]In Marvel comics, stories involving the X-Men and Avengers have often run parallel to each other. Hence why we often see these two groups teaming up and even having members from one team helping out the other. With the MCU already establishing the Avengers more than a decade ago, fans are left to wonder how they are going to bring the X-Men to the forefront now.
However, there might be a simple solution to that, which involves Kang the Conqueror and the Tva.

There are a plethora of reasons why the recently released X-Men ‘97 proved to be the kind of stellar success that it quickly became. The animation style, the continuation of the narrative, the quality of it itself, and the way in which it remained true to its roots were bound to impress viewers worldwide.
However, another reason it proved such a stellar watch was down to the kind of tragedies that graced our screen. Fans who have already watched the 10-episode-strong Season 1 will know exactly what we are talking about, especially with respect to Episode 5, Remember It, which we shall surely remember for a long time to come.

X-Men... 2000?
Although the recent Disney+ show served as a revival of an animated series that aired 25 years ago, the decision was made to keep the action rooted firmly in the original era. But with season 2 already confirmed and reports that Marvel Studios fully intends to keep the show going for as long as possible, could the mutant heroes make the jump into the noughties?
During an interview with Discussing Film, supervising director Jake Castorena was asked if they intend to hold on to the '90s aesthetic, and if he anticipates the show taking influence from later comic book runs for the second season.
"We touched on that, even in season one with E is for Extinction, which was definitely not of the ’90s run per se but in the zeitgeist of the era that came a little later," he replied. "Once so much time passes, that’s pretty much...

Thanks to the Hulu on Disney+ experience, viewers can now find top heroes from the DC Universe and the MCU on one streamer.
Disney+ is an incredibly versatile streaming platform, one that offers much more than the kids content that most audiences immediately associate the company with. Its programming lineup got another big upgrade this year when the streamer officially launched the Hulu on Disney+ one-app experience for customers who subscribe to both services. Thanks to a licensing deal between Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery, that arrangement means that Disney+ and Hulu subscribers can now watch films from the two biggest comic book-based franchises in U.S. media — DC and Marvel — on one streaming app.
Key Details Disney+ has been home to movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years but has never offered DC movies until now. Viewers can stream “The Batman” and “Joker” on Disney+ if they also have a Hulu subscription.

X-Men ’97 is certainly very close to the original 1992 series. The art style, graphics, animations, voices, and even story have followed the same path, starting off right where the first series ended in 1997. While hardcore fans would agree that the show feels exactly the same, some aspects of it were changed to better appeal to today’s audience.

From characters swearing to a visible increase in the brutality of the violence, some aspects have evolved for the better. The changes seem easy to miss; however, the behind-the-scenes process of getting them into the show had to have been very difficult, especially because of how strict Disney is when it comes to such themes.
However, the director of the series recently revealed how they made their way around this.

Being one of the most popular superheroes, Spider-Man has been the subject of numerous adaptations, each representing its own iterations of Peter Parker and the web-slinger. While some of these have become a fan favorite, such as Tobey Maguire, and achieved huge commercial success, such as Tom Holland’s venture into the MCU, Andrew Garfield’s stint as The Amazing Spider-Man remains the least favorite.

Marvel fans seem to be in for something truly great considering how, after X-Men: The Animated Series recently got its blockbuster sequel series, it seems now is the turn for the Spider-Man animated series to get its succeeding show. However, that is yet to be officially greenlit, with only cameos supporting fans’ hope of getting a subsequent series.

This article might contain potential spoilers for Captain America: Brave New World.
Who is Giancarlo Esposito? Okay, we know who Giancarlo Esposito is. He’s best known as Gus Fring from Breaking Bad and Moff Gideon from The Mandalorian. Meanwhile to some of us old people, he will forever be Buggin’ Out from Do the Right Thing.
But who is he in the MCU? Esposito has long been rumored to join the gargantuan franchise, something made more real when the actor shared to social media some of his recent talks with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. However, we now have more information… sort of.
As part of the reshoots done for Captain America: Brave New World, the first with Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson as the Sentinel of Liberty, Esposito has been added to the cast. Initial reports identified him as a new mystery villain who would act as an “agent of chaos.

The Russo Brothers, Anthony, and Joseph, are two of the most successful filmmakers of recent years and have been involved in some of the most successful Marvel iterations till date. This also includes 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which resulted in a triumphant send-off for the director duo from the MCU, garnering almost $2.8 billion worldwide.

What’s more, back when the Russo Brothers were part of the MCU, it was effectively a golden bird for Marvel. Avengers: Endgame was the second-last movie of the MCU’s Phase III, and there has been considerable stagnancy ever since. The animated return of the X-Men this year breathed life into Marvel fans, who were waiting for something good from the franchise for quite some time. X-Men ’97 was the perfect mix of nostalgia and modernization and hit the viewers’ right in the feels. Though creating that effect was not easy, the original X-Men cartoon had it way more tough.

Wolverine is arguably the most iconic of the X-Men, and largely has a very uniform identity which has been helped by Hugh Jackman’s iconic portrayal of the character in various live-action adaptations. The mutant himself, however, has been an integral part of the comics since forever, and was already extremely popular via the various animated iterations that came out, since the 1980s.

Laura Karpman brought choral sounds into Season 2 of “What If…?” while Natalie Holt re-established the “Loki” theme for the series’ second season. MCU has had it’s up and downs in the last couple of years, but despite that, it’s still the most successful franchise of all times. What started out as a single movie released in 2008 over the course of 16 years grew into the largest cinematic universe to date which includes both live-action movies, and TV Shows.
Despite this impressive track record, it’s become sort of a trend among high-profile directors to criticize the MCU and superhero movies in general. Some of the biggest names in the industry like Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and Francis Ford Coppola mocked the premises and the executions, lauding that superhero movies are no true cinema.
5 years, ago Martin Scorsese one of the most critically acclaimed directors of all time decided to fire a couple of shots at the genre, saying that he didn’t see them as cinema.

The transition from good to evil has fascinated writers for centuries. Forcing characters to dance on the line of morality has always intrigued audiences more than two-dimensional characters with simple moral compasses. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is well-known for administering such dilemmas to their viewers through the characters they make.

Be it Kilmonger in Black Panther, Thanos’ noble motivations to wipe out half the universe, or the execution of the Punisher’s justice, it is difficult for fans to condemn some villains when their motivations are so complex. Despite this, there are a few characters that have stayed consistent over the years, even though the law would disagree.
Five of the main six Avengers have managed to always have a strong moral compass, ever since the 2011 film, and these traits have stayed consistent. However, it would seem that their actors have played parts that juxtapose their iconic roles.

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are undeniably the hottest movie tandem today and all thanks to their upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film. The project has been a long-gestating one, and it’s quite clear that the chemistry between the two remains unmatched.

The great thing about Jackman and Reynolds is that they are best friends in real life so it wasn’t difficult to convince people that they are the baddest pair of anti-heroes in the comic book world. For one, they love trolling each other the same way their characters would.

Despite being fired as X-Men '97 showrunner (the details are still sketchy) shortly before the series premiered on Disney+, Beau DeMayo has remained active on social media, sharing intriguing insights into the development of the animated revival show and revealing some of his key influences.
DeMayo has previously explained how the iconic "Superman takes flight" sequence from Zack Snyder's Man of Steel inspired a similar moment from episode 6 featuring Storm regaining her powers, and has now revealed that a different scene may have "subconsciously influenced" Rogue attacking the villainous Bastion in the recent season finale.
This was yet another standout moment for Rogue, who unleashed the full extent of her power while channelling the pain and rage she felt after losing Gambit in the Genosha massacre
I was likely subconsciously influenced by this when writing the #xmen97 finale beat of Rogue punching Bastion. That’s not Superman hammering Zod.

Martin Scorsese is one of the most acclaimed filmmakers in Hollywood, and even at the age of 81 is churning out pieces of art. The filmmaker last helmed the crime-Western Killers of the Flower Moon, and is already gearing up for his next project. He remains one of the few individual voices still making films today.
Scorsese’s statements about cinema and the way superhero films were taking over the medium had drawn a lot of flack from fans. The director’s comparison of Marvel movies to theme parks sparked outrage as well as a popular meme template. However, even he would agree to one scene from Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel as cinema.

The storytelling process often blurs lines, enabling creators to weave their magic subconsciously, and this holds true for one brutal Henry Cavill scene from Man of Steel. Indeed, the film has intriguingly likely influenced an iconic X-Men ‘97 finale moment involving Rogue, as revealed by Beau DeMayo. Well, a few weeks ago, we got to know about Bastion’s genesis in Tolerance Is Extinction – Part 1, which actually sent waves of nostalgia and surprise through the DC fandom.
