Within 10 days, the trailer for Descendants: The Rise of Red has generated 86M views across platforms, including the official Descendants social media accounts as well as those for Disney+ and talent. The trailer has also amassed 4.5M total engagements.
That outperforms the Percy Jackson and the Olympians trailer, which saw great success in December, to be Disney Branded Television’s most-watched trailer of all time in that 10-day window.
According to Disney, about 52M views came from TikTok alone, and the franchise’s follower count has been rising across all social platforms.

Two months after handing out a pilot order for Wizards, Ayo Davis’ Disney Branded Television banner has handed out a formal series order for the sequel series. The show will premiere this year on both Disney Channel and Disney+.
Wizards production will begin next month in L.A. and feature Selena Gomez and David Henrie reprising their roles as Alex and Justin Russo. Both will exec produce the series. Henrie will lead the cast of series regulars alongside Max Matenko (Platonic), who plays Justin’s youngest son, Milo. He joins the previously announced cast that also includes Janice LeAnn Brown (Bunk’d) in the lead role as a young, powerful wizard Billie; Alkaio Thiele (Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends) as Justin’s oldest son, Roman; and Mimi Gianopulos (Rutherford Falls) as Justin’s wife, Giada. Gomez will guest star in the premiere.

Ursula’s daughter is now calling the shots at Aurodon Prep, where her first order of business is to enroll Red, the rebellious daughter of Wonderland’s merciless Queen of Hearts. But when Red’s mother uses the opportunity to seize control of the kingdom, Red must team up with Cinderella’s daughter Chloe to turn back time and undo the event that made the queen so evil in the first place.

Exclusive: One of Disney’s signature comedies, Wizards of Waverly Place, is getting a sequel. Disney Branded Television has ordered a pilot for the follow-up, which is executive produced by original stars Selena Gomez and her small screen sibling David Henrie. Disney Branded Television and Disney+ Hotstar released the teaser for the Disney+ Original series ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’, revealing that the Wildcats will take their final bow this summer. From Disney Branded Television, the Emmy-nominated television series was inspired by the hugely popular ‘High School Musical‘ movies, which first aired on Disney Channel in 2006 and 2007, and theatrically in 2008.

Exclusive: Arty Froushan (Carnival Row) has a major role in Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel’s upcoming revival series on Disney+, Deadline has learned. Word of his casting comes after on-set photo of Vince D’Onofrio leaked online included a glimpse of Froushan.
Details about the character are being kept under wraps, but Froushan is believed to be playing Harry, one of the main characters opposite Charlie Cox and D’Onofrio. Descendants fans, get ready: Brandy has officially stepped back into her glass slippers! The singer and actor is reprising her role as Cinderella in a new Descendants movie, originally titled "The Pocketwatch" but now known as "Descendants: The Rise of Red," and we finally have a first look at her regal character back in action. Exclusive: Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso) and Leonardo Nam (Westworld) have joined the cast of The Pocketwatch (working title), a music- and dance-filled original movie sequel to the megahit Descendants franchise at Disney+. Production is underway in Atlanta.
Starring Kylie Cantrall, Rita Ora, Malia Baker and Brandy and written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer (Magic: The Gathering), The Pocketwatch (working title) follows the story of Red (Cantrall), the rebellious daughter of the Queen of Hearts (Ora); and Chloe (Baker), Cinderella’s (Brandy) perfectionist daughter. Cinderella star Brandy and Rita Ora (Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight) have joined the cast of The Pocketwatch (working title), a music- and dance-filled original movie sequel to the megahit Descendants franchise.
Brandy will return to the role of Cinderella, which she first played in Walt Disney Television’s iconic 1997 version of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Ora will portray the villainous Queen of Hearts.

Disney Branded Television has promoted four key execs on its Original Movies team. Amee Dolleman and Charles Pugliese have been elevated to vice president, Original Movies, Disney Branded Television
and Mahita Penke and Jennifer Dubin have been upped to executive director, Original Movies, Disney Branded Television.
The Disney Branded Television team, led by Lauren Kisilevsky, SVP, Original Movies, has broadened its movie production slate over the past two years to reach kids, families, young adults and the young at heart.
The team just launched the third installment of the Zombies franchise, starring Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly, on Disney+, along with other projects, including Out of My Mind, based on the best-selling novel by Sharon M. Draper from Big Beach, Participant and EveryWhere Studios LLC for Disney+; Descendants sequel The Pocketwach movie; and Prom Pact and Sneakerella, Spin and Secret Society of Second Born Royals. She reports to Kisilevsky.
Pugliese oversaw several movies for kids, teens and families, including Under Wraps, and is overseeing the upcoming titles Under Wraps 2, The Pocketwatch and Out of My Mind. He reports to Kisilevsky.

The team continues to deliver tent pole and event movies with humor, heart and adventure to kids, families and young adults everywhere for whom Disney magic knows no bounds.”
Penke reports to Dolleman and Pugliese, while Dolleman, Pugliese and Dubin report to Kisilevsky.
