Jed Mercurio is behind some of the UK’s most successful dramas, and now it’s being reported that he is developing a new series based on the story of the country’s most notorious child serial killer.
Nurse Lucy Letby was jailed for life last year after being convicted of murdering seven infants and attempting to murder six others, all of whom where in her care as a neonatal hospital nurse.
Now The Sun newspaper reports that Mercurio – who was a hospital doctor before he turned to screenwriting and previously created medical show Bodies before his hit shows Bodyguard and Line of Duty – is planning a new drama telling the shocking story. The newspaper speculates that Sophie Turner (formerly of Game of Thrones) and Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) are both in the frame for the lead role.

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Jennifer Lopez will be touring this summer after all. And while that’s certainly a crime against Pride Month if not humanity itself, it at least frees up some extra time–and money–to watch some movies. And while 2024 looks to be a rather tepid year for blockbusters, there are still plenty of Don’t-Miss Indies out there ready to crawl into your eyes and ears.

French Canadian directing trio Rkss are back with new movie Wake Up, and Deadline reports this afternoon that Blue Fox Entertainment has picked up the North American rights.
The film will “release across the U.S. and in Canada later this year.”
“We are thrilled to add Rkss’s next film to our theatrical slate,” said Blue Fox Entertainment’s Lisa Gutberlet. “With Wake Up, these incredibly talented filmmakers demonstrate another side to their unique style. The result is a timely, violent yet fun thrill ride that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats until the very end.”
In Wake Up, group of hot-headed Gen Z activists find themselves brutally hunted after they become trapped in a furniture superstore during an act of environmental protest gone wrong.

Not a week goes by without yet another big hit flick or show being added to Netflix’s endless collection, and now it’s time for those who have been waiting for a big series’ third season to finally arrive after binge-watching the first two.
In a somewhat weird way, Netflix is set to welcome Killing Eve season 3 on its platform already this week, which comes as a quite logical addition to the two seasons that have been available on the platform for a while.
What Is Killing Eve About?
Starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, Killing Eve follows British intelligence investigator Eve Polastri who embarks on a cat-and-mouse chase for psychopathic assassin Villanelle, but the mission starts going in the wrong direction as soon as both of them realize they are obsessed with each other.
Reaching the point of no return, Eve and Villanelle have to decide whether they...

When filmmaker Jeff Nichols finally saw Jodie Comer on the London stage, one thought kept racing through his head: this might be the greatest actor he’s ever seen. In retrospect that’s a bit ironic since by the time the English-born Comer starred in Prima Facie, a searing one-woman play about a rising barrister in the British legal system, she’d already met and agreed to star in Nichols’ passion project: The Bikeriders. And the writer-director had of course seen her before, be it in Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel, BBC’s Killing Eve, or even opposite Ryan Reynolds in the high-concept comedy, Free Guy.
But the thing about Comer is the more you see of her range, the more shockingly limitless it becomes. (She in fact would go on to win both the Olivier and Tony for Prima Facie.) Hence how she can both so convincingly be...

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s 2005 hit movie has finally been adapted into a TV show after several stop-start attempts. Created by Donald Glover and his “Atlanta” colleague Francesca Sloane, the series follows two secret agents who go undercover as a married couple in order to complete missions for a mysterious organization.
Glover stars as one half of the duo while “Pen15” star/creator Maya Erskine features as the other. Glover is reliably excellent as John Smith but it’s Erskine, as Jane Smith, who steals the show, as noted by critics.
Kristen Baldwin (Entertainment Weekly) stated: “Erskine — so wonderfully, uninhibitedly awkward in ‘PEN15’ — brings a riveting stillness to Jane. Her character’s inscrutable mien keeps John and the audience a little off-balance, though Erskine reveals glimmers of emotional desolation in Jane’s steady gaze.”
Aaron Pruner (The Wrap) observed: “Erskine, who many will recognize as the brace-faced 13-year old in Hulu comedy “PEN15,...

Jennifer Aniston delivered another star-powered performance in the new season of Apple TV’s flagship series, “The Morning Show.” The series follows the behind-the-scenes drama of a morning TV show in the US, with co-anchors Alex Levy (Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) at the center of events.
The latest season (season three) depicts Alex quite literally heading into space while she tussles with Jon Hamm‘s tech mogul as a media merger for her show’s network, Uba, bubbles away. Aniston proved herself a master of comedy with “Friends” and here shows, once again, that she has the dramatic acting chops to equal her comedic skills. Aniston is captivating every time she’s on-screen and it’s a delight to see her in one of the meatiest roles of her career, as noted by critics.

“White Collar,” the police procedural that concluded on USA in 2014, made its debut on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings with 717 million minutes watched during the April 22-28 viewing window, landing in the No. 8 position.
The decade-old show’s viewership bump is thanks to what has recently become known as the Netflix effect; the streaming service has seen big success licensing titles with high episode counts that have previously finished their runs on other platforms.
But unlike “Suits,” the best example of this for its historic Nielsen run in summer 2023, “White Collar” took three weeks to make it to the chart, having been added to Netflix on April 1. This is unusual, as titles like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Killing Eve” made the overall Top 10 immediately after their Netflix debuts as well, while “White Collar” hasn’t even been on the list of the Top 10 acquired titles before now.
Per Nielsen, however, the...

The finale of Shōgun pushed the series to its best showing so far on Nielsen’s streaming charts.
The FX-produced Hulu series had 608 million minutes of viewing time for the week of its finale, April 22-28. That’s a 45 percent jump from the prior week and Shōgun’s highest total in the nine weeks it has made the top 10. Its previous best was 513 million minutes for its premiere week, which featured the debut of two episodes.
Fallout claimed the overall No. 1 spot for the third straight week, the first such streak for a show on Amazon’s Prime Video. The series had 1.53 billion minutes of viewing, down by about 41 percent week to week. Its three-week total is now a little over 7 billion minutes.
Netflix’s water-cooler drama Baby Reindeer saw a 36 percent jump in viewing, climbing to 915 million minutes from 673 million a week earlier. Several original series also made...

A24 has nabbed U.S. rights to “The Death of Robin Hood,” one of the hottest packages at this year’s Cannes. The Sherwood Forest-set film stars Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer and is directed by Michael Sarnoski, the filmmaker behind the critically acclaimed “Pig” and this summer’s “A Quiet Place: Day One.”
According to the official logline, the film will find Robin Hood “grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder.” Instead of the merry outlaw seen in certain previous versions of the story, like the one portrayed by Errol Flynn, this Robin Hood is “a battle-worn loner [who] finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman, who offers him a chance at salvation.” Production on “The Death of Robin Hood” is set to begin in 2025. A24 will release the film theatrically. Negotiations were highly competitive with several potential buyers circling the film.

Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are reteaming for the long-awaited 28 Years Later horror sequel trilogy, with Cillian Murphy on board as executive producer. But will Murphy, who of course starred in 28 Days Later, be reprising his role? It sounds like the answer is a big Yes.
Speaking with Deadline this week, Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman was flat out asked if Cillian Murphy will be back to star, and his answer suggests that is indeed the plan.
“Yes,” Rothman answered, “but in a surprising way and in a way that grows, let me put it that way.”
He continued, speaking more generally about 28 Years Later, “This is Danny at his best, combined with a very commercial genre, like we had with Edgar Wright and Baby Driver. Sometimes when you put a real signature director into a commercial arena, it elevates it.”

Fallout had another record setting week for Prime Video.
In its second week on the streamer, the series amassed 2.6B minutes viewed, putting it at the top of Nielsen’s streaming charts once again for April 15 to 21.
That’s down slightly from its debut week, but still an impressive showing for the eight-episode series considering its the first time that any streamer besides Netflix has managed two consecutive 2B+ weeks with a single title.
The last to do so was Suits, which had more than 100 episodes to keep audiences engaged — and it wasn’t a streaming original. This makes Fallout‘s achievement all the more substantial.
Nielsen also reports that viewing was still skewed to the earlier episodes at this interval, indicating a strong performance still to come as audiences continue to make their way through the series.
It shouldn’t be hard to guess what made it to second place.

“Killing Eve” made its way onto Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings for the April 15-21 viewing window, enjoying a similar effect as titles like “Suits” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” that have seen increased popularity upon being added to Netflix despite having concluded years ago. The BBC thriller was watched for 719 million minutes in its first week on the streamer, landing at No. 8 on the chart.
But an interesting aspect of the series’ surge is the demographic breakdown of its audience. Per Nielsen, one third of “Killing Eve” viewership this week came from people age 65 and above, representing the largest concentration of viewers. That’s a surprise for a series perhaps most famous for the sexual tension between its two female leads, with one being a psychopathic assassin.

Netflix’s Baby Reindeer entered the streaming top 10 in mid-April, and given the continued buzz around the series, it’s likely to stay around for a while.
The show drew 673 million minutes of viewing for the week of April 15-21, according to Nielsen’s latest streaming rankings. That was good for third place among original series and ninth among all titles.
Prime Video’s Fallout had a second straight huge week, if not quite as big as its first. It had 2.62 billion minutes of watch time, off a slight 10 percent from its opening week, which was the best single week for a Prime Video show since Nielsen began its streaming rankings almost four years ago. It’s also the first show that doesn’t stream on Netflix to have back-to-back weeks above 2 billion minutes of viewing.

I can’t say I have a vast knowledge, or much knowledge at all of Thai action films, but I was excited to check this latest one out – Kitty the Killer.
Now, of course, action movies have never gone away. They’ve been around forever but it feels like ever since John Wick, the revenge action film has been more popular than ever, and therefore, more and more are getting made. And Kitty the Killer has some similarities with John Wick and plenty of other popular action movies.
There is a revenge story here (although no dog this time), and there is a ‘Guardian’ of the killer (or killers) – another thing that has been popularized lately, see Killing Eve, The Kingsman, etc., and there are plenty of fight scenes.

Sandra Oh's character in Grey's Anatomy, heart surgeon Cristina Yang, has a difficult personality and the ability to accept the blows of fate with dignity: she experienced the death of her father, a runaway bridegroom, unsuccessful pregnancies, and a plane crash.
Why Did Sandra Oh Leave Grey's Anatomy?
Sandra Oh began her career as a ballerina, but later decided to connect her life to the film industry. Unlike Ellen Pompeo, Sandra already had experience playing leading roles before filming Grey's Anatomy.
She starred in The Diary of Evelyn Lau and Bean, Last Night, The Red Violin and Waking the Dead. But her biggest work was of course Grey's Anatomy. Sandra was a member of the medical procedural cast for almost ten years: from 2005 to 2014.
However, in 2014, after ten seasons, the actress announced her departure from the television project. She felt that she had given her character everything she could...

Jodie Comer is heading toward disturbing events after signing on to her latest film project with Kenneth Branagh, The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde. Branagh wrote and will direct the new film. Plot details are scarce, but Deadline’s exclusive report says The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde is a contemporary psychological thriller, with production kicking off in August in the UK.
Belfast producers Tamar Thomas, Laura Berwick, Becca Kovacik, Matthew Jenkins, Maximum Effort’s Ashley Fox, and Johnny Pariseau will join Branagh for the new film.
As Deadline points out, Comer’s signing onto the project is a significant boon for Branagh’s latest yarn. She’s an extraordinarily busy actress, so something about Branagh’s project must have caught her attention. After wrapping Killing Eve, Comer joined the cast of the Jeff Nichols crime drama The Bikeriders. Comer plays Kathy in the upcoming film, which also stars Austin Butler,...

One of the Spider-Man variations that stole scenes in the 2018 animated film from Sony, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, was Spider-Man Noir. The character had the impeccable pipes of Nicolas Cage to bring his character to life and, Deadline now reports that the Marvel comic property has just been given a greenlight by Prime Video and MGM+ for a live-action series, complete with Cage in the role. The series titled Noir has been in development for over a year from Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who will be serving as co-showrunners and executive producers.

Nicolas Cage is going back into the Spider-Verse. Amazon, during its first-ever upfront presentation, announced that Cage will star in “Noir,” the live-action series based on the Spider-Man Noir comic series from Marvel.
Way back in early 2023, IndieWire reported that Amazon was in development on a live-action series inspired by the Spider-Man Noir character, who Cage famously portrayed in the animated “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” as a grizzled, tortured, black-and-white noir gumshoe who also happened to be a superhero bitten by a radioactive spider. But no cast had been confirmed for the live-action show, and Amazon surprised advertisers by revealing that Cage would step back into the role, making it the first time he’s done a TV series since he filmed a pilot at the start of his career.

AMC Networks is well-positioned to capitalize on the trend of traditional cable companies moving away from expensive sports- and news-inclusive packages toward “skinny” bundles that offer general entertainment and lifestyle programs, executives confirmed this month.
The company is also encouraged by some of its industry peers who have started bundling their offers with competitors, including a recently-announced Disney bundle that will bring together Disney Plus, Hulu and Warner Bros Discovery’s Max, the executives affirmed on a conference call with investors following AMC Networks’ quarterly earnings report.
AMC Networks was one of the first companies to embrace the idea of bundling its AMC Plus streaming service with a competitor, offering a package deal through Amazon’s Prime Video Channels marketplace where customers could select from a bundle that paired AMC Plus with Lionsgate’s Starz or Amazon’s own MGM Plus (formerly Epix). In 2019, Sandra Oh simultaneously received her seventh and eighth acting Emmy nominations for “Killing Eve” (drama lead) and “Saturday Night Live” (comedy guest). Five years later, her performance bid total is set to reach an even dozen thanks to her respective lead and supporting performances in the telefilm “Quiz Lady” and the limited series “The Sympathizer.” Earning TV academy recognition for these two roles would make her the eighth woman to compete for both possible limited program acting awards at once.
In “Quiz Lady,” which premiered on Hulu last November, Oh plays Jenny Yum, a vivacious yet reckless woman who reunites with her estranged younger sister (Awkwafina) to resolve their mother’s gambling debts. “The Sympathizer,” which began airing on HBO in April, features her in the role of Sofia Mori, a 1970s Japanese American secretary who becomes entangled with a communist spy (Hoa Xuande).

One of the most popular fictional characters of all time, Robin Hood, has been at the center of numerous adaptations. From the early days when Errol Flynn played the legendary outlaw to modern adaptations starring big names such as Sean Connery or Kevin Costner (there is even an animated adaptation by Disney), Robin Hood has been an inspiration for filmmakers and it seems that a new movie that will tackle the story is going to be released relatively soon. The Death of Robin Hood will start production next year and will tell the story of an older, guilt-ridden Robin Hood, and as we know now, Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer have signed on to star in the movie.
Not much is known about the project, as there is still a long way to go until filming starts, but the film is in the pre-production phase now, and we do have...

Hugh Jackman has done wonders for the big screens, and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon despite nearing his late fifties. Set in its time, the film will see the title character grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, a battle-worn loner who finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman who offers him a chance at salvation.”
“It has been an incredible opportunity to reinvent and freshly innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood,” Sarnoski said in a statement to Deadline. “Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential. I could not be more thrilled and trusting...

Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer are heading to Sherwood Forest for one last hurrah.
The “Wolverine” star and the “Killing Eve” actress are attached to star in “The Death of Robin Hood,” a cheery-sounding new film from Michael Sarnoski, the director of the critically-acclaimed “Pig” and this summer’s “A Quiet Place: Day One.”
According to the official logline, the film will find Robin Hood “grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder.” Instead of the merry outlaw seen in certain previous versions of the story like the one portrayed by Errol Flynn, this Robin Hood is “a battleworn loner [who] finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman, who offers him a chance at salvation.” It sounds reminiscent of Richard Lester’s elegiac take on the popular story, “Robin and Marian,” a 1976 film starring Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn as a middled-aged Robin Hood and Maid Marian.

A lot has been recently said about Danny Boyle’s upcoming series of sequels for 2002’s post-apocalyptic horror 28 Days Later, but not much has been revealed about Cillian Murphy’s role in them — until now.
The actor who initially starred in the original movie, to many fans’ biggest delight, will be back not only as an executive producer, but also as an actor. The hitch here is that now his role will be pretty much different.
According to Hollywood’s insider Jeff Sneider, Murphy won’t be returning in the first movie, but will nonetheless have a big cameo in the second one and an even bigger role in the third one.
The news hasn’t been confirmed officially and so far neither Boyle himself nor the movies’ writer Alex Garland (who’s probably busy coping with all the raving success of his latest movie Civil War) have said...

Yellowstone star Ian Bohen has some big claims about the Paramount+ series’ final few episodes, despite potentially losing lead star Kevin Costner. According to Bohen, Yellowstone fans are going to get one of the best finale seasons that could possibly be written.
Yellowstone is expected to have the best conclusion according to its actor
Bohen’s big claims come at a time when the show is riddled with uncertainties and behind-the-scenes issues. Fans were almost expecting a disastrous final season like Game of Thrones or Lost, but the Teen Wolf actor has just raised everyone’s hopes.
