Utterly terrible with no redeaming qualities
This is likely the single worst movie I have ever seen. There are so many problems I scarcely know where to begin.
The movie begins with a page of text and a short montage and this is literally the extent of the character development and all that is done to set the scene. We are then thrust straight into the main event. We never learn anything about any of the characters backgrounds except that one of them left behind a daughter. All we learn about their mission is that the space station is a refueling stop, but we never see the space station doing anything related to this function. We don't even see the characters doing their normal jobs before the incident - except perhaps short flashes during the montage. There is also no interactions shown with the outside world at literally any point.
The consequence of all this is that it is impossible to identify with any of the characters and the space station environment feels detached from any wider universe. I was unable to feel any emotion regarding what happens to the Earth because it just didn't feel like it really existed in the fictional universe to begin with. The horrible CGI sequences didn't help, but perhaps if we were introduced to some people on Earth it might be easier to feel a sense of loss or horror.
Then there is the fact that nothing any of the characters does seems to make any sense. Events happen but they don't react or talk about it, and we aren't shown, so all that you get is a sense that something bad has happened. The unexplained and unrealistic behavior of the characters constantly reminded me that I was watching a movie.
The set design was also awful, with numerous objects that appeared out of place on a space station 50 years in the future.
Honestly there are many more flaws I could point out and there isn't anything positive I could say except perhaps that the premise is itself interesting - if only the execution were even slightly acceptable.
