According to industry insider reports, Warner Bros. is purposefully dumping its highly anticipated Bong Joon-ho project, Mickey 17. Earlier this year, reports emerged that the film was delayed to January 2025 in favor of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. However, the new reports tell a different story; that of a creative difference between Bong and the studio.

It almost appears that WB is making the same mistake again that it did with Zack Snyder’s Dceu film Justice League. The studio interference led to several changes in the film and fans absolutely hated the film. The whole ruckus caused WB to release the Snyder cut of the film.

Robert Pattinson was known for most of his career as “The guy from Twilight“. The fame he got from playing Edward Cullen in the film series overshadowed every other role. However, the film’s infamous reputation also cast an undeserved shadow on his career as people only knew him as ‘Twilight Boy’ for many years.

However, he has proven that he is more than just a charming vampire in recent years. Pattinson auditioned with many other actors for the role of Edward Cullen for the first Twilight film. The audition process required the actors to be shirtless at one instance as mandated by director Catherine Hardwicke. When a reluctant Pattinson did so, Hardwicke instantly wanted him to put his clothes back on.

The series of murder mysteries that began with the 2019 film Knives Out and continued with the 2022 film Glass Onion is set to keep on going with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which has writer/director Rian Johnson back at the helm. Johnson and his collaborators are being very secretive about this project right now, but there’s a lot of hype for it – so we figured this would be a good time to start assembling a list of Everything We Know About Wake Up Dead Man. Here we go:

Johnson got the title Knives Out from a Radiohead song. When it came time to make the sequel Glass Onion, he got the title from a song by The Beatles. So it’s only fitting that the third film in the franchise have a song-inspired title as well. But while Radiohead and The Beatles were from England,...

South Korean Bong Joon-ho swept the global cinema scene with his hit film Parasite, becoming the first non-English-language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, alongside winning Best International Picture. Bong’s career has been on the rise since then, and he was hired by Warner Bros. to write and direct an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey7. The movie is going to be titled Mickey 17, and it was originally scheduled for a March 29, 2024 release, which was pushed back to January 28, 2025, supposedly due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike and delays in post-production, but that might not be the real reason.
The scoop we have for you is still a rumor, but it comes from our trusted industry insider Daniel Richtman (@DanielRPK), who is known for his accurate predictions and insider reveals. Daniel has recently explained that there might be a more complex reason for the film’s delay,...

At one time, Warner Bros. was planning to give director Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi thriller Mickey 17 a theatrical release on March 29th, 2024 – but then they bounced the movie to January of 2025 and released Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire on March 29th instead. Why the delay? According to industry scooper Daniel Richtman, it’s rumored that Joon-ho and Warner Bros. are at odds over the director’s cut. Richtman wrote, “I hear Mickey 17 is delayed because Warner Bros. won’t let Bong Joon-ho release his director’s cut. They want to release a more ‘accessible’ version.”
This may not be surprising for CinemaCon attendees to hear. A trailer for Mickey 17 was shown at Cinema Con earlier this year (we have the report Here) and some who saw the footage felt that the movie “could either be totally amazing or a complete disaster.”

Incredibly, Parasite director Bong Joon-ho doesn’t appear to have final cut on his latest film, Mickey 17. A new report says it’s delayed due to a dispute with Warners.
In an alternate reality, we’d already be watching Parasite director Bong Joon-ho’s latest film by now. Originally due for release in cinemas this March, sci-fi thriller Mickey 17 was instead shunted to January 2025.
Assorted reasons were proposed for the move – one was that Warner Bros wanted to avoid competing with the release of Dune: Part Two. According to reporter Daniel Richtman, however, there’s a darker reason for the delay.
According to his sources (news of which comes to us via World of Reel), Bong doesn’t have final cut written into his contract with the studio. In other words, if Warner Bros doesn’t like aspects of his film, then it can insist on making changes.

Chloë Sevigny didn’t cry when she lost the Oscar to Angelina Jolie in 2000, but she does still have a few choice words about the Academy’s decision to have Jolie compete in the Best Supporting Actress category at the time.
Sevigny was nominated for indie true story “Boys Don’t Cry,” while Jolie won for novel adaptation “Girl, Interrupted.” According to Sevigny, though, Jolie had more of a lead role.
“I went [to the 2000 Oscars] with my boyfriend at the time, Harmony Korine, and I lost. Angelina Jolie won for ‘Girl, Interrupted,’ which was not a supporting part, I would say. Not that I’m bitter!” Sevigny told Variety. “But it was a very competitive category that year. Catherine Keener, Samantha Morton, Toni Collette and me — it was just great actresses.”
Sevigny reflected on the unanticipated success of “Boys Don’t Cry,” which landed Hillary Swank her first Academy Award too.

A particular scene in Ari Aster's "Hereditary," which unfolds around the 33-minute mark, is designed to shock, terrify, and subvert expectations. You know exactly which scene I'm talking about: when Peter (Alex Wolff) drives a sick Charlie (Milly Shapiro) to the hospital after the latter experiences a peanut allergy and sticks her head out of the moving car to breathe better. Before you know it, a deer blocks the road, and Peter swerves, causing Charlie's head to hit a telephone pole, which leads to instant decapitation. The utter shock of witnessing such a gruesome death looms over everything that happens next, tinting "Hereditary" as visceral horror where the bonds of family get twisted into something unrecognizably frightening.
While Charlie's death is the first tragedy that completely breaks the Grahams, the power of hindsight makes it clear that the seeds of evil were sown way before her death, and that...

Prior to 1999, the phrase "sixth sense" typically referred to a keen sense of intuition, often so powerful as to be considered a supernatural power. The definition, however, was broad, and people could be said to have "a sixth sense" about, say, predicting horse races. Since the release of M. Night Shyamalan's 1999 ghost story "The Sixth Sense," however, the phrase now more commonly refers to one's ability to see and communicate with the dead. The film was that popular. At any rate, that's the superpower possessed by the young Cole (Haley Joel Osment), something that causes a great deal of consternation to his psychologist Malcolm (Bruce Willis). How can one treat a child when mutilated ghosts are randomly appearing to him?

The Cannes Film Festival is nearing its conclusion, with plenty of films making a splash on the starry Croisette on the French Riviera. However, one studio executive tells Variety, “There aren’t many Oscar-buzzy titles to be excited about, not even in the international feature space.”
This year’s main competition jury, led by president Greta Gerwig and including J.A. Bayona, Ebru Ceylan, Pierfrancesco Favino, Lily Gladstone, Eva Green, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Nadine Labaki and Omar Sy, will name its winners on Saturday.

Benoit Blanc returns in his most dangerous case yet. Filmmaker Rian Johnson and Netflix have announced Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third installment that will debut in 2025.
We first met the famed private detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) in 2019’s Knives Out when he was hired to investigate the death of best-selling author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). Blanc teamed up with nurse Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) to uncover the truth in a twisted case filled with angry relatives, red herrings, and fabulous knitwear.
Blanc’s skills were called upon once more in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, when he headed to Greece to peel back the layers of intrigue surrounding tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and an eclectic group of disruptors.
Blanc was last seen sitting on the beach of Bron’s estate on an idyllic Greek island, calmly pondering the chaotic events of his past few days.

Clint Eastwood is one of the leading pioneers of actors and filmmakers who popularized the Western genre and elevated it during his prime. The actor’s collaborations with Sergio Leone on the Dollars trilogy changed Westerns forever. Eastwood carried on the legacy of those who came before him and elevated the genre by taking it into unexplored territory with many of his Westerns.
Clint Eastwood as William Munny in Unforgiven | Warner Bros
The Outlaw Josey Wales, High Plains Drifter, Pale Rider, and Unforgiven were four of the Westerns masterpieces Eastwood made. While the genre has not had the level of popularity it did back then, Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone reinvigorated the genre with a fresh and intimate familial story. While Sheridan certainly took inspiration from Eastwood, he did not want to copy one trait of his films.

Does the Academy hate horror? "Hate" is probably a strong word, but it's not unfair to say the Academy has at least an aversion to the genre. With the notable exception of Jonathan Demme's "The Silence of the Lambs," which swept the Oscars and won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay, the Oscars tend to overlook or ignore horror movies altogether. For (recent) example: many people thought Toni Collette should've at least nabbed a nomination for her incredible work in Ari Aster's "Hereditary," but that didn't happen.
Stephen King knows a thing or two about horror movies, especially since most of his books have been adapted to the screen. When it comes to King's movie adaptations, only one has achieved Oscar glory: "Misery," which earned Kathy Bates a Best Actress Oscar. But if King had his way, another one of his movies would've been recognized by the Academy,...

In 2002, M. Night Shyamalan had already done the impossible in Hollywood: He was a director who became a household name. At the time, you couldn’t probably only say that about a handful of directors, the usual suspects: Spielberg, Scorsese, Tarantino. Maybe a few others. But after the blockbuster success of 1999’s The Sixth Sense, which became one of the biggest movies of all time, not to mention a Best Picture nominee, Shyamalan was now a brand. One year after The Sixth Sense, Shayamalan brought us Unbreakable, a brooding, suspenseful drama about a man who’s burdened with a great responsibility he doesn’t even know about. To say it was an unusual take on the superhero genre would be an understatement, and as hard as it is to believe, superhero movies were not a “thing” when Unbreakable came out. So the movie, while respected and destined to build a loyal following,...

The overriding message this market? “There’s a lot”.
“A few weeks ago we thought there would a decent amount but, wow, there’s a lot”, one packaging agent told us.
They continued: “After a busy EFM, once again it feels like a healthy market in terms of product. The early responses from the sellers and indie buyers has been good. Those international distributors have re-stabilised their business somewhat, more so than the streamers. We’ll know more in a week but at the moment there are plenty of decently priced projects with meaningful actors, directors and scripts, and there is a good spread of projects.”
There’s Kristen Stewart returning on a vampire movie, Dwayne Johnson in a big-budget A24 wrestling movie, Mahershalah Ali in a gritty big-canvas crime movie, a couple of Jason Statham projects for those who want brawn, historical drama with Russell Crowe, a YA empowerment pic with Chris Pratt,...

AnnaSophia’s Perspective on Height and Perception
“Everyone always says that guys are intimidated by me,” she told Teen Vogue in 2013, “but I seriously doubt it. I mean, I’m five-foot-nothing!”
“I think I must make a stank face,” she joked. “I loved high school,” AnnaSophia added.
“Everyone always asks me if the other kids treated me differently because of my career, but they didn’t. If you act weird, people are going to treat you weird, but if you’re just yourself, people respond to that.

Anya Chalotra has been a professional actor for just five years, yet she managed to land one of the biggest roles in Witcher history.
The British actor kicked off her career with stage plays, bringing her talent to the legendary Globe Theatre in a 2017 production of Much Ado About Nothing, then following up with stints at the Theatre Royal Stratford East and Royal Theatre for productions of The Village and Peter Gynt. Only in her early 20s at the time, Chalotra managed to juggle these roles with school, but the stage work would lend valuable experience that would ready her for the major leaps she would take in her career later on.
In 2018, Chalotra earned her first TV role in Wanderlust, where she played Jennifer Ashman, a student who attends school with Tom (Joe Hurst), the son of Toni Collette's character, Joy. Though it was a small role,...

Movies offer an excellent excuse to ruminate on your deepest fears, and they’re certainly cheaper than therapy. So if you’re struggling with some deep mommy issues, why not cue up a matriarchal tale of terror and sort through some of that trauma in style?
Auteurs have been hashing out their issues with their mothers on the big screen for decades, to varying degrees of success. Consider mother-centric horror as its own subgenre, and you’ll notice there’s a tendency among filmmakers to take more than one stab at the thorny subject matter. Alfred Hitchcock used the real crimes of serial killer Ed Gein and added a profoundly morbid murder of a mother at a motel to brilliantly realize Norma and Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) for his exquisite “Psycho” in 1960, of course. But he’d whipped up something just as insidiously spectacular with Leopoldine Konstantin for his earlier...

Civil War is an extremely powerful, effective movie that thrusts you into the middle of an American civil war seen through the eyes of a war photographer. It’s brutal. It’s extraordinarily violent. The sound design is bordering on abusive. And if you watch it in IMAX you can reasonably expect to leave the theater with more than a little motion sickness. It is, however, excellent, with great performances from Kirsten Dunst as the older, jaded photographer and Cailee Spaeny as the reckless youngster new to the game. So see it. But we’d be very surprised if you decide to rush back for a second viewing.

Robert Pattinson is one of the finest acting talents Hollywood has. With versatility as his middle name, the British actor has now taken up another challenging role.

Actor Robert Pattinson gained worldwide recognition for starring as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga film series from 2008 to 2012. He later went on to star in independent movies from auteur directors, including Cosmopolis, The Lost City of Z, Good Time, The Lighthouse, and more. When your last film won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Film, what in the heck could you possibly do for an encore? When you're Bong Joon-ho, a one-of-a-kind cinematic visionary who's yet to make a less-than-great movie, you go to Warner Bros and you go epic.
Bong's follow-up to his 2019 triumph "Parasite" is "Mickey 17," an adaptation of Edward Ashton's critically acclaimed science fiction novel about an expendable space explorer (Robert Pattinson) sent on a perilous mission to colonize the ice planet Niflheim. When the first Mickey dies, a human print is generated with most of the deceased's memories intact. In Ashton's book, the human printing process is set to continue indefinitely after the newest iteration of Mickey dies. But when one Mickey survives after being presumed dead, there are now two Mickeys on Niflheim – which would result in both being eliminated.

During the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon, Robert Pattinson and director Bong Joon-Ho shared a trailer and new details about their upcoming science-fiction drama Mickey 17.
Robert Pattinson and Bong Joon-ho took the CinemaCon stage, giving the impression they’re proud of the movie they’ve made. Mickey 17 is based on the novel Mickey 7, but they changed it to 17 because that’s the number of times Pattinson’s character dies in the film.
Here’s a plot synopsis for Mickey 17: “Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.” In addition to Pattinson, Mickey 17 has a wealth of other talents on board,...

“Parasite” director Bong Joon-Ho dropped by the Colosseum stage in Las Vegas for Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon presentation to offer his first full look at “Mickey 17,” his ambitious sci-fi starring Robert Pattinson. Though the trailer seen in Vegas wasn’t released online after the presentation, this was the first look at it since a teaser was released in December 2022, so we’ve been waiting a while.
Though the movie was pushed back from a release this year to now open in January 2025, we’re impressed by what we saw in Vegas. And Warner Bros. film heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy championed the film’s incredible sci-fi vision. They further announced that it will be released in IMAX.
The trailer was a tongue-in-cheek, screwball dystopia of sorts, all scored to Frank Sinatra’s “Ain’t That a Kick In the Head.” We see Pattinson as Mickey, who is an...

The many facets of Robert Pattinson were on display in the first trailer for Mickey 17, the upcoming film from Bong Joon Ho that delves into human printing, identity and space colonization.
Bong made his first trip to CinemaCon to show off the trailer, with the director saying it’s the story of “a simple man who ultimately ends up saving the world.”
Mickey 17 is based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton and follows Mickey 7, a space colonist known as an expendable — those who do the colony’s most dangerous work and often die in the process, only to be brought back to life through human printing technology. The protagonist in the novel is the seventh version of a man named Mickey Barnes, but in the movie, that’s been upped.
“The number is the number of times he dies. I killed him 10 times more,” Bong said to laughs from the crowd.
