The full ensemble cast is announced for the remake of 1989’s The War Of The Roses which will star Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch.
It’s been just over a month since we learned that Jay Roach would be remaking the 1989 relationship comedy, War Of The Roses and we now have a fuller idea of what the film’s cast looks like.
We already knew that the new adaptation would be starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman as the central couple, who just like Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in the 1989 original, proceed with a nasty yet entertaining divorce.
A fresh report (via Deadline) has now confirmed that the film’s cast will be rounded out by Kate McKinnon, Andy Samberg and Doctor Who's Ncuti Gatwa.
McKinnon and Samberg are both established comedy stars who’ve led films themselves, so grabbing them both in supporting roles is a real coup.

Wally Feresten began the off-season rehabbing his right shoulder: A cortisone shot. Eight weeks of physical therapy. Discussions with an orthopedist. (Surgery can wait. He’s got a team to lead.)
While this might sound like the life of a professional athlete, Feresten works in TV. But as the cue card supervisor for Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Seth Meyers, it’s a job that seems just as intense. And with over 30 years in the game, he’s assisted every comedic heavy-hitter who has come through the doors of Studio 8H: cast members from Chris Farley to Kate McKinnon; hosts from Charles Barkley to Ryan Gosling.
LateNighter spoke with Feresten about how he got started in the cue card game, the two companies that grew out of it, and the daunting feat of an SNL anniversary show.
Feresten had his sights set on becoming a writer.

Netflix is developing a new animated series based on the hugely popular Minecraft sandbox game. Few details are known, but according to Netflix, the series “will feature an original story with new characters that shows the Minecraft world in a new light.”
The announcement comes on the 15th anniversary of the video game.
In Minecraft, players explore a blocky, pixelated, procedurally generated, three-dimensional world with virtually infinite terrain. Players can discover and extract raw materials, craft tools and items, and build structures, earthworks, and machines. Depending on game mode, players can fight hostile mobs, as well as cooperate with or compete against other players in the same world.
Netflix will co-produce the CG-animated series with Mojang Studios, the Swedish developer of the game.
Canadian animation studio WildBrain will handle animation.

It’s recently been reported that the freeform game of Minecraft will be adapted into a feature film. The movie is set to be an animated adaptation with an impressive voice cast that features Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon, Jermaine Clement, and Emma Myers signed on. The movie is directed by Napoleon Dynamite’s Jared Hess. Hess wasn’t the first director to have been tied to a Minecraft movie, as previous iterations found Shawn Levy, Rob McElhenney and Peter Sollett attached. At one point, Steve Carell was linked to a voice role.

Back in 2019, the world saw the first season of The Morning Show, following the aftermath of the allegations of sexual misconduct behind a network broadcast morning news program. Since then it has become one of Apple TV’s trademark shows.
However, in the same year, a movie that is quite reminiscent of this series was released. Even though it received significantly less hype, it’s still worth a watch and our attention to the depicted events. Luckily, it’ll be added to Prime’s catalog tomorrow, on May 25.
The plot of this drama revolves around three ambitious women, who work at one of America's most powerful news networks, Fox News. While their broadcasts contain lots of provocative headlines, their names are about to become headlines themselves.
The point is that the women join efforts to expose the channel’s CEO, their professional “father” who made them famous, for sexual harassment...

Saturday Night Live wrapped up its 49th season last week with one of its strongest recent episodes, thanks in large part to (third time) host Jake Gyllenhaal. So it’s hardly surprising that the Road House actor’s name is among those that have been submitted for Emmy consideration in the Outstanding Guest Actor In a Comedy Series category. But he’s far from the only recent host whose name is in the mix.
On Tuesday, Variety reported that at least 17 of the 20 individuals who hosted SNL this season have been submitted for Emmy consideration. If that seems like a lot of people competing for the same awards, that’s because it is: it’s the highest number of hosts to submit in the past five years.
Here’s who’s vying for an Emmy for showing off their comedic chops this season: Nate Bargatze, Josh Brolin, Timothée Chalamet, Pete Davidson,...

For basketball fans already mourning the potential loss of TNT’s Inside the NBA, there may be some small consolation: NBC may bring back John Tesh’s iconic “Roundball Rock.”
NBCU is reportedly set to bid $2.5 a year for rights to NBA games going forward, according to the Wall Street Journal. If the offer is successful, the company would supplant media rival Warner Bros. Discovery, whose TBS and TNT cable networks began carrying NBA games in 1988. TNT has been the flagship Turner network associated with pro basketball, with its Inside the NBA the gold standard of sports studio shows, since 1989.
The NBA’s other two partners in its next contract are said to be Disney and Amazon’s Prime Video.
If NBC is successful in securing the third slot, it would likely mean the end of the Emmy-winning Inside the NBA, much to the chagrin of sports fans. But when one door closes,...

There are a plenty of longtime Saturday Night cast members, yet there were no big exits — or hints of departures — on tonight’s Season 49 finale of the venerable NBC late-night program.
No SNL veterans were tearing up at the end of their sketches like Kate McKinnon did in the 2022 finale, it was all smiles and fist bumps at the curtain call, and, after another brutal joke swap, Colin Jost and Michael Che wrapped their 10th season together on Weekend Update by wishing everyone a great summer.
This was to be expected, given that no one from this year’s 17-strong troupe would willingly miss next year’s big celebrations – The Big 50.
Host Jake Gyllenhaal set the stage for what is to come in his opening monologue, noting that the finale was “the last episode before the big anniversary season.”

Jake Gyllenhaal leaves Marcello Hernandez asleep in his chair while waiting for a yearbook signature in the promo for this season’s Saturday Night Live finale.
When castmember Hernandez approaches Gyllenhaal in the clip, the actor is seated in an empty Studio 8H practicing his lines.
“It’s so cool that you’re hosting the finale,” Hernandez says. “Do you mind signing my SNL yearbook?”
Gyllenhaal enthusiastically agrees and promptly bores Hernandez to sleep during a montage of his philosophizing over what to write. When he finally finishes, Hernandez jolts awake only to find Gyllenhaal has written rather simplistically “B kewl” and signed his name incorrectly, “Jack.”
“Whatever,” Hernandez says as Gyllenhaal exits. “It’s a fake yearbook for a promo anyway.”
Gyllenhaal will host this week’s season 49 finale with musical guest Sabrina Carpenter. This will mark his third time hosting, after stints in 2007 and 2022.

Former Saturday Night Live cast member Maya Rudolph became a three-time host on May 11, almost five months after she appeared for five minutes in an episode headlined by Kate McKinnon. Her screen time in this case exceeded 21 minutes, or just over one-third of the episode’s running time.
Scroll down to see how Rudolph stacked up against each of the show’s named performers, including all three members of Vampire Weekend. Note that our screen time data is calculated using a method that prioritizes face time, meaning that any contiguous (off-screen but in-scene) moments and practically all partial body appearances do not count. Screen time in the show’s opening credits, bumpers and goodnights are not included, nor do those portions factor into our assessment of the episode’s total running time.
Maya Rudolph – 21:21 / 33.50%
Since stepping down as an SNL regular in 2007, Rudolph has returned to the show 27 times.

NBC is rolling out the red carpet to celebrate Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary.
Ahead of its upfront presentation next week to Madison Avenue ad buyers, the network on Friday announced that it has scheduled a three-hour primetime special to honor the anniversary. The special, which will also be live, is set to air Sunday, Feb. 16, from 8-11 p.m. Et.
That will cap what NBC says will be a “celebratory weekend” honoring the Lorne Michaels-created sketch show.
Additional details have not yet been announced as Michaels and company are in the home stretch of closing out SNL’s 49th season with alum Maya Rudolph set to host this weekend and Jake Gyllenhaal on deck for the May 18 season finale.
News that NBC would formally celebrate SNL’s 50th anniversary comes as no surprise as Michaels said last January that he was already planning for the February event.

When Maya Rudolph steps onto the Studio 8H stage this weekend, it will mark her third time hosting Saturday Night Live. While she’s still got a ways to go before she earns a Five-Timers Club jacket, the Loot star is already part of another SNL fraternity: former cast members who have returned as hosts.
Given that the current season of the sketch comedy series kicked off with Pete Davidson at the helm and has since seen Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, and now Rudolph return to their old stomping grounds, it would seem like a relatively common occurrence. But of the more than 500 individuals who have hosted the show over the past half-century, only a few dozen of them have ever also called Lorne Michaels “boss.” And it all began with Chevy Chase.
On February 18, 1978, Chase became the first former SNL cast member to return as host.

Dua Lipa dove deep into the scorching-hot rap beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar on “Saturday Night Live.”

Given her one-of-a-kind awards resume and irrefutable status as an acting legend, it’s no wonder Meryl Streep is widely expected to be honored at this year’s Emmys for her work on Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building.” Taking the gold for her first regular comedy series role would be impressive enough, but the noteworthiness of her win would extend far beyond that. Having joined her show in its third season, she would be only the 10th non-original comedy series cast member to ever pull off a lead or supporting Emmy victory.
Not including sketch performers, Streep would be said winners club’s first new entrant in over three decades. The last was Kirstie Alley, who replaced Shelley Long as the female lead of “Cheers” at the start of season six and prevailed on her third Emmy bid in 1991. That same year, supporting “Cheers” actress Bebe Neuwirth achieved...

After a shortened 2022-23 season, Saturday Night Live returned a bit later than usual to kick off its 2023-24 run.
The writers strike affected both the end of last season and the start of season 49; the end of the labor action on Sept. 25 meant a mid-October start for SNL — with former castmember Pete Davidson hosting — rather than the late September or early October premiere the show usually has. (The cast is covered under a different SAG-AFTRA contract than the one actors are currently striking against, so they can perform without crossing picket lines.)
The show’s cast returned intact from last season, with James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman moving up from featured players to repertory players. Chloe Troast joined the cast as a featured player.
Below is The Hollywood Reporter’s updating guide to season 49’s SNL hosts and musical guests.

“If somebody cast a spell on me and I got stuck as Starfish I think I’d be happy with that,” says SAG Award winner Kate Flannery while discussing her time as the sea creature on Fox’s “The Masked Singer.” “Each song was a joy and it’s great to sing with backup dancers. A ton of backup dancers, and confetti, and balloons, and people on bikes. It was nuts!” Watch her exclusive video interview with Gold Derby senior editor Denton Davidson above.

“There’s more snacks on ‘The Office,'” she told host Nick Cannon during her unmasked interview. “And you know what? I can’t drink at all when I do this show. Margaret Qualley is no longer going to star in Hulu’s limited series about Amanda Knox, Variety has confirmed.
The untitled series was announced in March with Qualley set to star and executive produce. She has reportedly exited the project due to scheduling conflicts. The role will now be recast.
This is not the first time Hulu has lost its lead actress in a limited series based on a real person. Kate McKinnon was once attached to play Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in what would become “The Dropout,” the role that was eventually played by Amanda Seyfried. Seyfried would go on to win an Emmy for her work on the show.
Hulu has ordered eight one-hour episodes of the show. The official description states that it is “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free.

Exclusive: Margaret Qualley has pulled out of playing Amanda Knox in Hulu’s upcoming limited series for scheduling reasons.
Qualley, two-time Emmy nominee for Netflix’s Maid and FX’s Fosse/Verdon, just saw her two upcoming movies, Kinds of Kindness and The Substance, both get selected to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Recently seen in Poor Things, she is currently filming Honey Don’t! and has other features lined up.
The untitled Hulu limited series from writer Kj Steinberg and 20th Television in association with The Littlefield Company, was officially greenlighted last month with Qualley on board to star and executive produce. The role is now being recast. The development won’t impact production plans as the eight-episode project is scheduled to start filming in October.

Ryan Gosling‘s Saturday Night Live monologue went all too well… and got a ringing endorsement from a very important person. On Saturday night, Gosling took the stage at Studio 8H and, after revisiting the hilarious alien abduction sketch series alongside Kate McKinnon in the cold open, decided to use his opening monologue to say goodbye to his Barbie alter ego Ken. Gosling was joined by his The Fall Guy co-star Emily Blunt, who simultaneously bid adieu to her Oppenheimer character Kitty. To do so, the two parodied Taylor Swift‘s Red song “All Too Well.” On Instagram, the pop superstar herself responded to the number, writing, “All Too Well (Ryan and Emily’s Version) !!! Watch me accidentally catch myself singing this version on tour. This monologue is everything.” In the song, Gosling, who wore the character’s sunglasses and fur coat one last time, said goodbye to Ken by singing,...

After making a 36-second cameo appearance on last week’s Saturday Night Live, Ryan Gosling returned to host the show for the third time in his career. The Fall Guy star’s screen time of just over 26 minutes is the fifth highest for a Season 49 host, behind those of Bad Bunny, Shane Gillis, Pete Davidson and Ramy Youssef.

Even though Ryan Gosling popped up during Kristin Wiig's induction into the Five Timers Club in last weekend's episode of "Saturday Night Live," the "Barbie" star had actually only hosted the late night sketch comedy show a couple times. Despite having just that pair of hosting stints under his belt, Gosling had already proven he was a reliable and hilarious host. But even with expectations high, Gosling made this third round hosting "Saturday Night Live" an absolute banger, delivering one of the best episodes that I've ever seen. And it wasn't just because of guest appearances by former "SNL" cast member (and recent host) Kate McKinnon or a cameo by Gosling's "The Fall Guy" co-star Emily Blunt. Even without those bonuses, this episode of "SNL" was simply phenomenal.
So let's not waste anymore time. Come with us as we dig into the highs and non-existent lows of Ryan Gosling's latest "Saturday Night Live.

It's been nine months since both "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" released in theaters, but poor Ryan Gosling still struggles to let the event go. So he decided to bring out the ol' piano for his "Saturday Night Live" monologue and sing an ode to Ken, paying tribute to that neon rollerblading outfit and ridiculous fur coat. The song was sung to the tune of Taylor Swift's "All Too Well," which Swift famously sung in its 10-minute entirety on "SNL" back in 2021. The relevance of "All Too Well" to the bit doesn't stop there: it's also the song Gosling's character cries to in the trailer for his new movie, "The Fall Guy," a movie that's basically Gosling's entire reason for hosting this time around.
Showing up mid-musical number was "The Fall Guy" co-star Emily Blunt, urging Gosling to let "Barbie" go and focus on their new project together. But much like Gosling can't let Ken go,...

This week’s Saturday Night Live made several strong impressions:
Ryan Gosling is a natural as host. Ryan Gosling breaks a lot in sketches. Ryan Gosling makes other cast members break a lot.
Also: Beavis and Butthead can’t miss.
All that and a cameo from Caitlin Clark.
This was a funny show. It was a silly, slapsticky, sight-gaggy, bawdy, big-laugh show, and Gosling was in the middle of most of it.
He arrived with expectations, of course. His “Ken” lifted his movie career to an impressive new level, because of his willingness to embrace and embody the iconic vapid essence of that character—er, doll. That had to be addressed last night of course, and was, in one of the more elaborate, prop and costume-heavy monologue segments of recent vintage.
But Gosling also resurrected his “Todd” character in a callback to one of the more consistently funny recurring sketches...

Ryan Gosling returned to Saturday Night Live this weekend and revived the hilarious “Close Encounter” sketch during the episode’s cold open alongside his former Barbie co-star, Kate McKinnon. First introduced on SNL back in 2015, the sketch revolves around three friends who were all abducted by aliens but had vastly different experiences once they were on the spaceship. In the newest sketch, Gosling found himself in the same predicament as when the original one aired, being unable to hold back his laughter at the crazy things McKinnon was saying and doing. Bowen Yang and Mikey Day, who are playing Nsa investigators, begin the cold open by saying to Gosling, McKinnon, and Sarah Sherman, “Now you’re all here because you’ve experienced a verified alien abduction.” Sherman replies, “It was wild. One second, we’re three friends on a camping trip, and the next, we’re citizens of the stars.

Known for breaking character and cracking up Saturday Night Live cast members in his previous two hosting stints on the NBC sketch program, Ryan Gosling stayed true to himself tonight, laughing in every skit he was in, much to the delight of the studio audience, and challenging his co-stars to keep a straight face — even seasoned veterans like Kenan Thompson.
The tone was set in the cold open, reuniting Gosling and Kate McKinnon for a third Close Encounters sketch, in which host Gosling could not stop laughing as McKinnon was demonstrating how aliens observed Gosling character’s private parts close and personal during their alleged abduction. The tone was set in the cold open, reuniting Gosling and Kate McKinnon for a third Close Encounters sketch, in which host Gosling could not stop laughing as McKinnon was demonstrating how aliens observed Gosling character’s private parts close and personal during their alleged abduction. She chuckled a few times too, with the rest trying to hide their smiles.

Ryan Gosling, this week’s Saturday Night Live guest host, teamed up with SNL alum Kate McKinnon and Sarah Sherman in an opening sketch in which they described to government investigators their experience being abducted by aliens.
While Sherman’s and Gosling’s characters played it straight, McKinnon’s portrayal of Colleen Rafferty–a staple during her time on the show–was anything but.
Lounging with legs apart and puffing on a cigarette, McKinnon’s character recalled being “vacuumed” up into an extraterrestrial aircraft.

Ryan Gosling returned to “SNL” this week in a cold open with “Barbie” co-star Kate McKinnon, reviving one of their most famous sketches, “Close Encounter,” in which they recount being abducted by aliens and their vastly different experiences aboard the spaceship.
The original sketch debuted eight years ago and featured Gosling and McKinnon, alongside Cecily Strong (it currently has 60 million views on YouTube). The actor also recreated this sketch on his second time hosting six years ago. In every attempt to act through “Close Encounter” Gosling has heroically attempted to get through McKinnon’s genius bit without breaking, every time he has failed. Endearingly, Gosling broke again at least once during this one.
Bowen Yang and Mike Day played Nsa investigators in tonight’s cold open. Day tells Gosling, McKinnon, and Sarah Sherman, “Now you’re all here because you’ve experienced a verified alien abduction.”

Ryan Gosling had the best time playing Ken in Barbie… and he’s not ready to hang up his rollerblades just yet.
As the host of this week’s Saturday Night Live, Gosling assured fans during his monologue: “I’m not going to make any jokes about Ken… because it’s not funny.” Yes, he and his beloved character “had to break up,” he shared, and it hasn’t been easy on him. To get over the heartache, Gosling sat down at a piano and sang a Ken-ergized version of Taylor’s Swift’s “All Too Well,” donning his Ken...
