They say comedians can shift to dramatic acting relatively easily because making something funny is harder than making it sad, so if you’re in comedy, you’ve clearly got the chops. For Ana Gasteyer, add “making it creepy” to the resume because her stint on Celebrity Ghost Stories is one of its best, partly due to her somber delivery. It’s as unnerving as when Grandma yells at you and when the funky church medley lady from Saturday Night Live gets serious, you pay attention.
And why are we paying attention to a cable TV show from 2011? Kristen and Will of Bloody FM’s Guide to the Unknown discovered that all of Celebrity Ghost Stories is available on YouTube now, leading them to make episodes covering these stories a recurring fave. Are ghosts real? Eh…ya know. Does talking about ghosts rule? We’re swimming in affirmative proof.

Along the way, her famous celeb partners included Wayne Newton, Drew Carey, Rob Kardashian, and Ray Lewis.
While appearing on a recent episode of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ Amy & T.J. podcast, Burke spoke about dancing as an “intimate contact sport.”

I don’t know if Bill Hader’s Stefon character was necessarily the target audience for the Super Bowl Lviii halftime show, but the easiest way to review the Usher-centric performance would be to say that Las Vegas’ hottest late-afternoon showcase had everything: Usher. Alicia Keys. The Jackson State “Sonic Boom” Marching Band. Bendy Cirque du Soleil acrobats. A Starlight Express tribute. Lil Jon. H.E.R. Usher’s abs. Usher in a bedazzled suit with added abs. Ludacris. Lots and lots and lots of hits.
I don’t know if Usher’s performance is going to generate the same volume of news coverage as Rihanna’s pregnancy-revealing halftime from Glendale, Arizona, last year, but in terms of overall showmanship, it was in a different league. I’d say Usher put on the best one-man Super Bowl halftime since Bruno Mars a decade ago and Beyoncé the year before...

In 1989, the movie Best of the Best had a somewhat abbreviated run in theaters. Only grossing a mere $1.7 million, the movie was a major hit on home video and cable. That’s why, three years later, a sequel, Best of the Best 2, hit theaters… for a while. While the first film has maintained a certain cult status, the sequel, and the two more that followed, have been largely forgotten – until now on this edition of The Best Movie You Never Saw.
Best of the Best 2 came from the same creative team behind the original, including director Robert Radler and producer/ star Phillip Rhee. Intriguingly, it was co-written by a TV actor of the time named John Allen Nelson, who starred on Baywatch for a few seasons, played Paul The Wine Guy on Friends, and has shown up as a guest actor on most of the biggest shows on TV.

The series will premiere Sunday, Feb. 25 at 10 p.m., and will explore “the past seventy years of America’s cultural maturation through the lens of this unique city, featuring the entertainment acts, the visionary entrepreneurs, the infamous mafia figures, and the colorful political history that put it on the map,” per CNN.
That will include interviews with Vegas icons like Wayne Newton and Paul Anka, as well as journalists, showgirls, and historians. The series is produced for CNN by Bungalow Media+ Entertainment.
“Vegas is another of our acclaimed CNN Original Series that brings new life and color to major stories and events in our collective history,” said Amy Entelis, executive VP of talent for CNN Originals, and creative development for CNN Worldwide.

Plot: Behind the scenes of the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special.
Review: Young people today have no idea how hard it was to see the Star Wars Holiday Special in the days before the internet. I remember only being aware of the Holiday Special in the mid-nineties thanks to the occasional mention in Starlog or Sci-Fi Universe. In about 1996, some friends and I attended a Star Wars Convention in Montreal, and the big attraction was that they would be screening the Holiday Special in full on someone’s bootleg tape. My pals and I were so excited, but after all the years of reading about it and dreaming of what it could be like, we walked out after ten minutes. Nine minutes of unsubtitled Wookie was enough to turn us off, and to this day, I don’t think I’ve ever actually sat through the whole thing.

If you’re a Gen X or “geriatric” millennial Star Wars fanatic, you probably have a story related to the contortions you had to go through to get your hands on the notorious only-aired-once 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special.
Freshman year. My college roommate Andrew brought back a bootleg tape — there has never been a legitimate release — given to him by a guy who knew a guy at his regular comic shop. We watched with breathless anticipation that turned to quizzical horror — a generational rite of passage.
Today, you can go to YouTube and take your pick from among several Star Wars Holiday Special uploads, at least one of which has remained up for seven years and has 3.6 million views. So much for taboo. So much for resourcefulness. So much for magic.

It's undeniable that the films in the National Lampoon's "Vacation" franchise have become comedy classics. The misadventures of the Griswold family of patriarch Clark (Chevy Chase), wife Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo), daughter Audrey (Dana Barron/Dana Hill/Juliette Lewis/Marisol Nichols/Leslie Mann), son Rusty (Anthony Michael Hall/Jason Lively/Johnny Galecki/Ethan Embry/Ed Helms), and cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) have become seminal watches for multiple generations, and remain endlessly quotable after nearly 40 years.
The Griswolds were a relatable look at the average, white, middle-class American family, replacing the Norman Rockwell-esque presentation of yesteryear with more authentic and unconventional problems sprinkled throughout. Okay, so maybe we don't all know what it's like to lose our Great Aunt and have to strap her to the top of the car with the luggage in the rain, but we probably know what it feels like to expect a Christmas bonus but get...

This year’s Sf Indiefest, San Francisco’s first independent film festival of the year, will take place virtually from February 4-21, 2021. This year’s selection includes 42 shorts and 38 features from 20 countries. Two of the three world premieres are, notably, Asian selections – including Bay Area Asian-American production “Girl in Golden Gate Park” and spicy Japanese fiction “Body Remember”. Other notables include the film festival’s only international premiere, “Roll” — which had previously premiered in the Nara International Film Festival — a reckless coming-of-age film caught between celluloid and of course, a romantic interest.

Set in modern-day Las Vegas, the pair of British grifters try to navigate between the Mob chasing the debt they owe, the media frenzy around the body being stolen and the Police closing in on them. Director Paul Tanter describes the film as “A fun and quirky caper that brings a modern spin to a true story that most people think is an urban legend.”

On March 16th, 1970, Ray Price walked into Columbia Recording Studios on Nashville’s Music Row and recorded “For the Good Times,” a song that would return him to the top of the country charts after a nearly 11-year absence. The pinnacle was a spot Price had been well-acquainted with in the Fifties, logging 39 weeks at the top with just four singles, including the 1956 classic “Crazy Arms,” which accounted for 20 of those weeks. But for the man who had basically invented a style of playing honky-tonk music that would often be...

The Black Keys knew expectations were high for their Let’s Rock tour, their first in years. So how did the band choose what songs to play? “We just went to the top 25 songs on Spotify,” jokes singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach.
“We thought about ones that were fun to play live, and also picked some ones we haven’t played in a while. We kind of threw it together, and it really worked out pretty damn good.”

Match #1: Bestia 666 defeated Mance Warner – Mexican Deathmatch The following is courtesy of mlw.com:
Bestia emerges at Salina’s command for Mexican deathmatch destruction. Mance came out ready to answer the challenge, but not before taking a swig of that light beer. Bestia however, caught Mancer off-guard with a suicide dive and the two began brawling on the outside. Bestia then presented a kendo stick, which doesn’t take long to disintegrate under the violent use of both Mance and Bestia. Mance introduced multiple chairs and a board into the mix; soon to follow suit were a select few thumbtacks. Bestia reacquainted Mancer’s forehead...

Last year, when The Bachelorette TV show kicked off on ABC, fans entered into it without cancellation or renewal concerns, because it had already been renewed. As the 14th season dawns, there is no such guarantee. That said, historically, the series has done pretty well for a summertime reality TV series. Can it keep going strong? Will The Bachelorette be cancelled or renewed for season 15? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

Every Friday, we’re recommending an older movie that’s available to stream or download and worth seeing again through the lens of our current moment. We’re calling the series “Revisiting Hours” — consider this Rolling Stone’s unofficial film club. This week: Matt Zoller Seitz on Albert Brooks’ 1985 livin’-in-the-usa comedy of Lost in America.
You might expect to see a timeless portrait of American greed, class resentment and cluelessness about money in right in the middle of a two-term Reagan era. You may not have expected it to come from Albert Brooks.

Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan has a new title: Bride. The 34-year-old actress and musical performer married her beau Jordan Lundberg on Saturday. She and the 27-year-old strategic accounts manager tied the knot at Wayne Newton's private residence in Las Vegas, E! News has confirmed. Kiely Williams, who was Bryan's bandmate in the Cheetah Girls musical group and her co-star in the Disney Original Movies of the same name some 15 years ago, served as one of her maids-of-honor—returning the favor, as Bryan had been her maid-of-honor at her wedding in 2016. The bride wore a long sleeve, backless, custom fairytale Hayley Paige ball gown, featuring an...

Just when you think The Bachelorette has pushed our tolerance for secondhand embarrassment to the absolute limit, something else - or rather, someone else - strikes. After suffering through bunk-bed injuries, golden underwear, and that whole Jean Blanc fiasco, Becca Kufrin's season of the reality show truly stepped its cringe-worthy game up during the fifth and sixth episodes thanks to Chris.
In the fifth episode, Becca takes her suitors to Las Vegas, where Chris gives what he feels is a Grammy Award-worthy performance in front of Becca and Wayne Newton on a group date. Chris then decides that he isn't going to chase after Becca on said group date - he'll let her come to him. So, how's that plan work out? Not great.
Becca finds him standoffish, and he later comes begging for her forgiveness . . . as well as "50,000 kisses." Becca, to her credit, isn't having any of it and...

I don't want to exaggerate, but I think I'll be cringing for all eternity after watching Monday night's episode of The Bachelorette. Not only did we, Bachelor Nation, have to collectively endure yet another songwriting date (this time involving the musical stylings of Wayne Newton), but we also had to make it through Becca's disaster of a two-on-one with chicken suit David and Derek Zoolander Jordan.
The bitter enemies accompanied Becca on a date aptly located in Nevada's Valley of Fire, where they spent all their time complaining about each other. From David's assertions that Jordan is "settling" for Becca while eyeing Vegas models on the sly to Jordan's repeated mantra that "being me is my greatest power," Becca basically ended up acting as a mediator between the two tantrum-throwing toddlers posing as grown men.
Needless to say, both David and Jordan ended up eliminated. But before Becca bid them both adieu for good,...

Wayne Newton, Mr. Las Vegas, made a guest appearance on last night’s episode of The Bachelorette, as he was asked to help the male contestants write romantic love songs for Becca Kufrin. The guys also had to perform the songs in front of an audience. While Becca’s potential matches clearly couldn’t sing, it was actually Newton who stole the show. As soon as he was introduced, the guys completely freaked out with excitement — but not everyone was convinced it was genuine. Are these guys seriously that psyched up for Wayne Newton? #TheBachelorette — Kelly Keegs (@kellykeegs) June 26, 2018 […]

Ah Las Vegas, the perfect place to...roll the dice on love? The Bachelorette took a little trip to Sin City mostly to make a whole bunch of gambling puns and also ride camels. There was also some classic canoodling in a hot tub in the middle of the desert, a two-on-one we'll get to in a bit, and one of the worst dates in the history of this show at least in terms of general embarrassment. On a giant group date, Wayne Newton arrived to trend on Twitter for a bit and teach the men how to sing the tune of "Danke Schoen" into a woman's face, then had them write their own lyrics to the song to then sing to Becca on stage in front of other humans. It was an absolute nightmare that...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the June 25 episode of “The Bachelorette.”
Entering into Week 5 on “The Bachelorette,” Becca Kufrin is down to a dozen suitors, including two men with controversial backgrounds, and is continuing her journey for love in Sin City.
While Las Vegas is not usually associated with romance, the show cast aside the city’s signature debauchery for a week of glitz, glamour and nature, as well as the series’ iconic two-on-one date.
First, though, Colton landed the episode’s first one-on-one date, heading off of the Strip to ride camels and go for a dip in a desert hot tub. Colton overcame some struggles early on in the season when he admitted his past relationship with Tia, Becca’s friend and fellow contestant on last season of “The Bachelor.” That dust seems to have settled,...
