Al Roker made a triumphant return to the Today show after undergoing knee replacement surgery, and his comeback was marked by a heartwarming reunion. Chicago – I have a new appreciation for Al Roker. Already acknowledged as a famous weatherman and TV host, the “Today Show” staple can add raucous comedian to his resume, as indicated by his hosting duties at the 60th Chicago International Film Festival’s Summer Gala on June 1st, 2024. He killed, as they say.
Albert Lincoln Roker was born in Queens, and got his B.A. in Communications from the State University of New York in Oswego. His first weatherman gig was in Syracuse, New York, while in college and he started his main career in Washington, D.C. After stops in Cleveland and local affiliate in New York City, he found himself substituting at the national level on NBC, first with the Sunrise show and then with the “Today Show.”

“The gatekeepers are gone,” Colin Jost told a roomful of journalists at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 27, before pivoting to the punchline: “Did you know that 90 percent of people now get their news exclusively from social media? And that must be true because I saw it in a random guy’s TikTok.”
For those (ever fewer) media gatekeepers who have major reach, trust is currency. And there’s still a halo effect for those TV stars with broadest viewership — i.e., network TV hosts — particularly evening and morning show anchors for NBC and ABC, a new THR/Morning Consult poll shows. The survey, conducted May 4-5 among a sample of 2,239 U.S. adults, asked opinions about 40-plus major TV news stars, as well as surveyed trends about America’s fractured media diet during a presidential campaign year.

The Today Show meteorologist Al Roker feels that there is just too much judgment out there. He has been faced with a lot of criticism in his career so he knows what it is like to be judged. So, what else does the sixty-nine-year-old father of three have to say? Keep reading for more details.
Al Roker Feels There Is Too Much Judgment
Being judged is a part of being famous and it is synonymous with the job. Sadly, fans can be way too harsh and forget that celebrities are just regular people with feelings. They make their own decisions based on what they think is best for them and do not need outside noise though it is inevitably going to happen. Al Roker is a fan favorite and beloved by many but for many years, he was overweight. That did not mean viewers loved him any less but they did fear for his health.

The best cozies contain idyllic settings, well-established characters, and elements of romance and humor. They also need staying power, which is why the multi-movie series are usually the most popular.

Al Roker was absent from the Today show on Monday, May 6, as his beloved pet dog, Pepper, recovers from emergency surgery. As reported by People, the legendary weathercaster didn’t appear on either of the NBC morning show’s broadcasts on Monday, as his colleague, Dylan Dreyer, stepped in instead. On Sunday, May 5, Roker took to Instagram to share a gallery of pictures of him and his wife, journalist Deborah Roberts, with Pepper in the animal hospital. In the pics, Pepper is seen with an IV drip in her paw and wearing a protective cone around her head. “Our little girl, Pepper, had emergency surgery but is on the mend. She’s getting great care and is coming home tomorrow. Woof. You can sleep on our bed as much as you want,” Roker wrote in the caption. Billy Idol recently released a 40th anniversary expanded reissue of his seminal album Rebel Yell, and to celebrate the occasion, he performed the classic title track live on NBC’s Today.
The performance is notable in that Billy and his longtime guitarist Steve Stevens play the song semi-unplugged. Following an introduction by Al Roker, the duo are left to their lonesome on the sound stage, creating an intimate and up-close setting for the rendition.

Stevens guides the song’s arrangement with electric-acoustic strums that let Idol’s voice soar commandingly through the room. Not only does the stripped-down approach fit perfectly within the Today show’s studio format, it also offers an alternate spin on an otherwise rousing rock anthem.

Al Roker and his production banner have been sued by Bill Schultz, a former executive producer on an animated kids TV series in development. Schultz (The Simpsons, King of The Hill, Garfield) claims he was fired for objecting to the company’s failure to follow a diversity initiative intended to bring minority writers onto PBS television productions.
The lawsuit, filed in New York federal court on Tuesday, alleges executives at Al Roker Entertainment “callously disregarded” a diversity, equity and inclusion program, commonly called Dei, mandated by PBS, which covered the bulk of the production expenses for animated series Weather Hunters, by attempting to have Black writers touch up scripts written by white scribes to give the appearance of a diverse writers room.

After Batman: The Animated Series, the DC Animated Universe, or Dcau, also gained immense popularity through Superman: The Animated Series. The latter series was also critically acclaimed and gave us one of the best iterations of Clark Kent ever. However, the same cannot be said for Superman’s voice actor Tim Daly.
A still from Superman: The Animated Series
Despite being highly popular, Tim Daly did not reprise his Clark Kent role in Dcau’s Justice League series. Tim Daly could never rise to the level of Kevin Conroy, who made a massive name for voicing Batman across several DC projects. The Sopranos actor stated in an interview that he would like to reprise his role again and urged his fans to ask for the show’s renewal.

Savannah Guthrie seems to be growing tired of everything that happens behind the scenes at NBC. The Today co-anchor has been making her rounds on talk shows to discuss her new book and it looks like it might be her first step away from the network. Keep reading to see what she revealed during her chat with Stephen Colbert.
Savannah Guthrie Addresses Ronna McDaniel Situation
The Today star sat down with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show. During their conversation, Savannah Guthrie briefly addressed Ronna McDaniel’s scandal at NBC.
Ronna was fired from the network just one week after being brought on. She was the former Republican National Committee chairwoman and, evidently, there was an “internal revolt” at her being hired.

When asked about the situation, Savannah Guthrie said that she would tell Stephen the “inside scoop,” but maintained that it was a pretty boring story.

Smith received an emotional farewell send-off Friday from Today show anchors Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie. The show played A Look Back video of his work over the years after which he received a standing ovation from his Today show colleagues.
Smith narrated the five-minute video, concluding by saying: “And it all seems like it happened yesterday.”
“I have nothing but gratitude,” Smith said. “Every time I would always come on this show, I was always welcomed so generously. Dylan Dreyer’s big announcement while on NBC’s Today left her at a loss for words later.
The meteorologist and host for Today’s 3rd Hour appeared alongside her colleagues Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, and Al Roker to share her news.
“Well, this is a very special morning. Not only because of Caitlin Clark’s possible big thing, but we’ve got a big announcement from Dylan,” Roker said as others clapped and cheered.
“Her new bestselling Misty series has the latest installment. This one is called Misty the Cloud: The Thing About Spring,” he said.
Dreyer then spoke about how she loves the Step Into Reading books because her son Calvin is reading them, and another of her sons is close to starting to read them.
She described her latest book as good for kindergarten and first-grade-level readers, as it has simple sentences, simple words, and easy-to-understand concepts.

In the "Bones" episode "Spaceman in a Crater", Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) find the splattered remains of a human being out in the middle of a field. It seems that they had fallen from a great height, likely pushed from a plane (the victim had no parachute). Like with many episodes of "Bones," the camera lingers on the gory remains for a long while, allowing audiences to squirm a little bit before Bones and Booth can begin investigating the case in earnest. They find that the victim's bones were porous and brittle, indicating that he was either 130 years old, or that he had spent a great deal of time in zero gravity. "Bones," however, is not "The X-Files," so there is no actual alien malfeasance afoot.

“Someone had to do it.”
That was the explanation given by Larry David after throttling Elmo on live television, an apparent response to the treacly sentiments of the Sesame Street character. Elmo has been much in the news for asking via X how everyone was doing. This time, he got his answer directly.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm star and Elmo were guests on the Today show Thursday when the confrontation broke out just before an Al Roker weather segment. David walked on and began vigorously choking Elmo.
Elmo was just wrapping up a segment about his viral mental health tweet when David showed him what’s up.
Hosts Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin were stunned, but defended the furry red character. Guthrie told Larry he’d gone too far, and Roker said he wasn’t surprised by David’s actions.
David apologized before his segment on the upcoming Curb Your Enthusiasm season.

Dylan Dreyer navigated through what may have been a somewhat awkward moment on live television.
The meteorologist and host of Today’s 3rd Hour was involved in an on-air segment with her colleague Al Roker, which was later posted online.
They joke with each other frequently, with Al sometimes riling Dreyer up with his quips.
However, Dreyer tends to fire back when necessary and did that during one recent Today segment.
During a recent Today episode, the duo teamed up for a Movies and Munchies Superfood Quiz segment.
Married actors Bryan Greenberg and Jamie Chung also appeared on that Today episode and competed against them for the game.
Dreyer calls out Roker during live TV segment
A clip on Twitter gave viewers a look at the Superfoods game featuring Dreyer, Roker, Greenberg, and Chung. As a graphic left the screen for the segment, Dreyer yelled at her colleague.
“You just tried to grab my hand!
