Ranker is a popular place on the Internet where people can rank whatever they want, however, they want, and whenever they want. This is always a fan-focused ranking system, and it is never officially tied to the people behind the projects in question. Recently, a large survey was organized on Ranker, whose goal was to determine the best movies of all time. The list includes more than 2,500 series, but in our report, we have decided to list the top ten titles from the site to provide you with better insight, combined with our original comments and opinions, which will add flavor to the whole report.
Of course, since this is indeed an important list, we have decided to report on it, so we are going to bring you the results by listing the top 10 series on this list, from 10th to first place. We hope you’ll enjoy it!

Streaming prices continue to rise. Just this week, Max raised its ad-free price by $1. Peacock is raising its subscription fee next month. As your budget gets stretched, it’s worth considering whether it’s worth downshifting to an ad-supported plan instead of canceling altogether. The Streamable is here to help you decide.

The latest news coverage in Hollywood has been more concerned with the resolution or escalation of the conflict between Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan. Despite countless interviews and statements, the rumors whispering about Costner’s apparent return (or lack thereof) to Yellowstone have occupied our every waking hour.
But even in the middle of all the chaos, it becomes harder to hide the real reason behind the audience’s fierce attachment and loyalty to the Dutton patriarch.
Yellowstone [Credit: Paramount Network]With an almost sociopathic tendency in his character’s nature and a ruthless moral compass that moves its needle only when he commands it to, Kevin Costner’s terrifying character is quick to capture the audience’s hearts, simply based on historical evidence alone. Shows with characters as instinctively evil as John Dutton have been known to attract a higher percentage of viewers, and this has remained true since the days of The Sopranos.

The June skies are clear as the Tribeca Festival gathers indie filmmakers from around the globe with a large slate of features and shorts, music, games, TV, audio storytelling and a major addition this year in De Niro Con, a tribute to the prolific actor and Tribeca co-founder.

In some cases, when actors deliver an iconic performance in a certain role, it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing the part. James Gandolfini’s performance as Tony Soprano is no different. Often considered one of the best TV shows of all time, The Sopranos still remains the best gangster drama to be put on the small screen, and a major reason behind it was the late actor’s performance.
Sylvester Stallone shared a similar viewpoint when reflecting on the show and had no hesitation taking shots at Gandolfini’s son, who played a young Tony Soprano in the 2021 prequel.

Six Feet Under probably doesn’t come to most people’s minds when discussing HBO’s best series because it doesn’t have a controversial, overarching subject matter.
The Sopranos remains appealing to new viewers mainly due to its mafia backdrop. The Wire catches eyes because cop dramas are a known quantity. With Six Feet Under, however, creator Alan Ball (who also helmed HBO’s queer-coded horror spectacle True Blood) crafted a simple drama about a loving yet chaotic family who runs a funeral home. That doesn’t seem all that exciting to an audience member going in with no prior knowledge. Still, all it should take is a few episodes of the show for that viewer to become instantly obsessed with the raw, authentic characters and real life issues that it expertly depicts.
From death anxiety to coping with chronic illness, the series forces the people on screen and...

There are only a few TV shows that you can rewatch every year and still find yourself thinking about it nights long. Every visual detail, every dialogue and the actions of all the main characters are new to you, and you watch the show like it’s your first time.
One of such shows is definitely The Sopranos. The mob drama that premiered in 1999 and lasted till 2007, spinning 6 seasons, is a legendary series worth watching at least once in a lifetime.
The Sopranos is an ensemble cast show that focuses on the family of New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano. Being the main protagonist and the main antagonist of the show as well, Tony is the character that is linked to everybody who ever appears on screen. Since Maya Erskine burst onto our televisions in 2019 as a 31-year-old actress playing the socially inept 13-year-old Maya Ishii-Peters on Hulu’s “Pen15” (she also co-created the raucous show), her comedic path seemed a clear one. But then earlier this year, she switched it up with the very adult role of intrepid spy Jane Smith, whose cover is to be married for better or for worse to fellow spy John Smith (Donald Glover) in Amazon Prime Video’s action-drama “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” Some may call the genre swap a 180-turn, but Erskine doesn’t see the leap as gargantuan.
“Shows like ‘The Sopranos,’ to me, have some of the funniest shit I’ve ever seen but are also really dark and dramatic,” she says. “To me, that’s life. I feel like you can’t have one without the other. There has to be a balance.”

There is nothing fun about watching your favorite TV show come to an end, but there are many ways to make a finale at least somewhat comforting and promising. Or, at the very least, entertaining enough that fans will remember it for a very long time.
Right now, due to the impact of the WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes on the television industry, there are many shows that are nearing their end. Whether any of them will come close to the finales on this list is questionable, but keep in mind these 10 shows that became a blueprint for wrapping up great storylines.
Lost (2004–2010)
While the finale of Lost left many questions unanswered for fans, it still felt like a solid conclusion to the show's twisted storyline. Within two and a half hours of airtime, the show revealed that what many people thought was a dream was a version of the afterlife,...

A new image supposedly advertising a new Sopranos series starring Michael Gandolfini has been making the digital rounds.
David Chase’s smash hit HBO series The Sopranos managed to turn a lot of heads in the early-to-mid-2000s. Viewers couldn’t get enough of the late, great James Gandolfini’s iconic mob boss Tony Soprano and the individuals within his orbit.
The series ended on a rather infamous note with a very divisive finale that left some major story threads hanging. Still, The Sopranos remains hugely popular to this day. When audiences think of the beginning of “prestige television“, The Sopranos is typically the show that immediately springs to mind.

What Do We Know About the upcoming second season of the Paramount+ series Tulsa King? More than you may think. The Taylor Sheridan series has been one of the most successful projects from the Yellowstone creator that does not feature the Dutton Family. With a second season greenlit almost as soon as the first episode debuted, everyone has been wondering what is coming from the show’s sophomore run. So, let’s dive in and take a look at what Sylvester Stallone and his crime crew will be coming up with this year.
Who is running the show (literally)?
The first season of Tulsa King was overseen by Terence Winter, best known as the creator of Boardwalk Empire and a main writer and executive producer on The Sopranos. He wrote the screenplay for The Wolf of Wall Street and developed Tulsa King alongside Taylor Sheridan ahead of this season. Winter...

When the Emmy nominations are announced July 17, something will happen that hasn’t happened in 50 years: The nominees for best drama series will include only one previously nominated show, Netflix’s The Crown. I would love to be able to say that’s because there are so many great dramas out there and that TV Academy members are diligently watching them and championing different great ones this year. But the truth is, this field, historically among the strongest each season, now looks like a wasteland.
Such perennial nominees as HBO’s Succession and Westworld and AMC’s Better Call Saul have ended, along with second-tier contenders like Paramount+’s The Good Fight and Star Trek: Picard. Some ongoing, previously nominated shows were not back in time to be eligible, in some cases because of delays caused by the writers and actors strikes, including Netflix’s Stranger Things, Squid Game and Bodyguard; HBO/Max’s Euphoria,...

The “Nurse Jackie” sequel series is now in development at Amazon Prime Video with original star Edie Falco set to return, Variety has learned exclusively.
It was first reported in 2023 that a “Nurse Jackie” followup was in the works at Showtime from Lionsgate Television, but the project has now moved to Amazon.
The official logline states, “10 years after we left Jackie Peyton (Falco) clinging to life in the series finale, we find her back on her feet in spite of having lost her nursing license. The continuation of her story will find her facing new dilemmas in trying to be good in a world where being bad is often not only easier, but a lot more fun.”
Liz Flahive and Abe Sylvia serve as writers and executive producers on the sequel series, with both having worked as producers and writers on the original series. Sylvia is also attached to direct.

The advent of streaming television a little over a decade ago changed TV forever. One of those was the idea of releasing entire television seasons simultaneously.
Traditionally, on network television, TV series have been released one episode a week throughout their season.
HBO and other premium cable networks have also released one episode a week, although the seasons are usually shorter.
However, when Netflix debuted its first significant prestige series, House of Cards, in 2013, it released every episode simultaneously.
For several years after that, Netflix released nearly all of its shows that way.
As other streaming services rose to compete with Netflix, they used different models.
Max, for instance, has retained HBO's traditional model of usually one episode per week.
Ironically, during this era, whole seasons of The Sopranos, Sex and the City, and other shows were released on DVD at once, likely encouraging the binge-watching habit.

From the truly iconic Curb Your Enthusiasm to Veep, HBO has always had a taste for a good comedy, but still fails to get the right image of a channel in the eyes of the audience. In people's minds, as the home of The Sopranos, Succession, Game of Thrones and Euphoria, HBO will forever remain a dark channel with nothing to laugh about.
Granted, the comedies that HBO produces are also full of sarcasm and dark humor, but they're still just as entertaining and hilarious as CBS's family-friendly sitcoms. Hopefully, with this new project that combines some legendary names in the sitcom field, the network will attract even more people looking for a good laugh.

Iconic directors named David haven’t been having the best luck with the Netflix streaming service lately. David Lynch recently revealed that Snootworld, an animated movie he hopes to make, had been rejected by Netflix, and now David Cronenberg has said that his new film The Shrouds – which just made its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival (you can read some of the first reactions Here) – was originally intended to be a Netflix TV series, but the streamer dropped it after paying him to write the pilot episode.
During a press conference at Cannes, Cronenberg said (according to The Hollywood Reporter) that he “envisioned the story working well as a series. He flew to Los Angeles to speak with two Netflix execs who financed the writing of a first episode – which they loved. But after the second, they did not want to go any further.” Cronenberg went on to say,...

Dressed like an extra from The Crow, the actor plays a tragicomic supporting character in this drama that feels like a TV pilot show
Set in New York City and filmed in Manchester, England, here is a film that aims to play like a feature-length episode of The Wire or The Sopranos. Naturally, that is not an easy target to hit, and the result, while decent enough, falls somewhat short but is still watchable.
Luke Evans plays Adam, a nice guy who made a terrible mistake in his youth: shooting another young man and going to prison for 16 years. His partner, Donna (Stephanie Leonidas), has brought up their son Jimmy to believe his dad simply skipped town and abandoned them, so she’s none too chuffed to find Adam back in the neighbourhood and desperate to reconnect with a now-teenaged Jimmy (Rudy Pankow).

If you’re not caught up on your peak TV viewing, consider this your spoiler warning. Four months have passed since Jennifer Coolidge bagged her second consecutive Emmy for “The White Lotus” and thus became the eighth drama or comedy series regular honored by the TV academy for a season in which her character died. Emmy nominations of this kind have become quite common in recent years, and it’s possible that over 15% of the 2024 lead and supporting continuing series contenders will be added to the list.
The current consensus among more than 2,400 Gold Derby users is that five continuing series performers whose characters perished within the past year will receive Emmy nominations, while a few others have outside shots at recognition. This does not include characters like Anakin Skywalker who died before their shows’ latest seasons began but appear as ghosts or in flashbacks. Undead characters like most of...

At first, the violence seems limited to news reports. Every time a gangster is gunned down or a car bomb goes off in the streets of Corsica, the local channel flashes footage of the crime scene. So long as the killings are confined to television, it’s easy for 15-year-old Lesia to pretend they’re neither real nor relevant, that the people involved aren’t members of her father’s inner circle. But as “The Kingdom” unfolds, the attacks keep getting closer, slowly infiltrating the film itself, until finally, they’re happening right in front of her face.
Corsica, like nearby Sicily, has a serious problem with organized crime, which escalated dramatically in the 1990s, when “The Kingdom” is set. The birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, it’s an unusual island: technically part of France, but too independent-minded to let outsiders manage its affairs. The Corsican flag depicts a decapitated Moorish...

A suspect in the Steve Buscemi attacker case was arrested and charged in New York City on Friday, according to the New York Police Department.
Clifton Williams, a 50-year-old houseless man, has been charged with assault in the second degree after he allegedly punched the actor in the face randomly in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of Kips Bay.
On May 8, the NYPD responded to a 911 call of an assault on Third Avenue within the 13th precinct, where a 66-year-old man had been punched and was later transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. He was treated for a minor injury in his left eye.
Police sources told CBS New York that Williams walked into the 10th precinct in the Chelsea neighborhood on May 13 to report that his property had been stolen on the Friday prior. The officers who took his ID recognized him and arrested him for Buscemi’s attack.

Some cliche somewhere said that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words.’ This has proven to be the case for me and especially when it comes to fan art. I have always sought out great fan art and have wanted to share it with as many people as possible. “Awesome Art We’ve Found Around The Net” is the outlet for that passion. In this column, I will showcase the kick-ass artwork of some great artists, with the hopes that these artists get the attention they deserve. That’s the aim. TikTok is giving some users the ability to post hour-long videos. The app is running a test that expands its maximum upload length from ten minutes all the way up to 60.
Matt Navarra, a consultant who is known for spotting new features on social media platforms, was among the first people to notice the 60-minute runtime test. TikTok later confirmed to TechCrunch that some users now have access to hour-long content. While any creator could potentially benefit from posting long-form videos, that format is particularly useful in categories like beauty, cooking, education, and comedy.
Though TikTok used short-form content to put itself on the map, it has progressively increased the maximum runtime of its videos. The uptick to ten minutes arrived in 2022. Two years later, Navarra spotted a test that bumped the max up to 30 minutes.
By doubling that parameter once again, TikTok is supporting its ongoing investment in long-form products.

Today, associate editor Tyler Johnson and I had an off-the-cuff conversation that felt like an article in the making.
But what if the conversation is more fun than any article we could write? We’re about to find out.
Carissa: I love this bit from David Cronenberg from an interview with The Hollywood Reporter out of Cannes:
THR: So if you’re not ready to put your filmmaking career to bed, what makes you get up each day with an inkling you may do another movie?
Cronenberg: What makes me wake up is the thought of breakfast, quite frankly. That’s enough to get me out of bed.
Tyler: Love him, love that.

The one fatal mistake that most TV shows make is using TV cameos gratuitously. If the cameo doesn't mean something to the audience and the characters in the show, it's pointless, and little more than a random Stan Lee Appears gag.
On the other hand, too many shows have fallen into the trap of celebrity worship with their cameos.
Having cast members gawk and gape at their celebrity crush as if to reinforce the celebrity's prestige while doing nothing for the universe we enjoy is a waste of talent.
For this list of the top TV cameos worth celebrating, we will focus on iconic cameo appearances that gave the show some unforgettable moments that made TV history.
Seinfeld Cast, Curb Your Enthusiasm
What better way to give Seinfeld the better ending many feel it deserved than by bringing back the cast and the original set and doing a bit of self-parody?...

In our Sugar series premiere review, we discussed how the show kept reminding us that everything must come to an end.
The season finale again went to great lengths to remind us that all things, good or not, must end.
It did that while shutting the door on the various season arcs and opening another equally interesting door to a future that may never come.
To be clear, Sugar has not been billed as a limited series.
But talk about it is nonexistent, which doesn't bode well for a series even as refreshing and brimming with talent as Sugar is.
Apple has the deepest pockets in the business, and they don't have a library of content.
Giving their originals legs to stand on remains good practice, and how frequently they renew projects suggests that ratings and views don't matter to them as much as, maybe, the sheer joy of creating content.

Whenever someone brings up the topic of “the greatest TV shows of all time,” our mind immediately wanders to Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, The Walking Dead… You get the point. These are all American TV shows with big budgets and recognizable actors — but what we often fail to recognize is brilliance from across the ocean. There are some amazing gems there we never even touch!
Take this 2017 mystery thriller series, for instance. It has a near-perfect Tomatometer score; a near-perfect IMDb score (which is even more impressive), and is dubbed one of the greatest TV shows ever by fans — and yet, we only learn about it now.

Update: The NYPD has identified a suspect in last week’s seemingly random attack on actor Steve Buscemi. Police say the man pictured in surveillance images is 50-year-old Clifton Williams.
Police have not located Williams and no arrests have been made. The search is ongoing.
Additional information on the suspect was not released.
Previous, May 12: New York native Steve Buscemi has become the latest celebrity to suffer a random attack on New York City streets.
Buscemi, 66, was reported by the New York Post to have been walking in the Kips Bay neighborhood on Manhattan’s East side last week when a man walked up and struck him.
The broad-daylight attack is just one of the celebrity incidents that have happened over the last few years. Comic actor Rick Moranis, Michael Stuhlbarg (who was in the show Boardwalk Empire with Buscemi), and reality star Bethenny Frankel are among those similarly victimized.

Applegate recalled that her mother put her in Weight Watchers when she was 15. “She was always competitive,” said the actress about her mom, who had body image issues of her own. “If I got down to 110 [pounds]… she’d be like, ‘Oh! Vincent Cassel and David Cronenberg are getting the band back together for The Shrouds, a disturbing meditation about grief, making peace with death, and watching your loved ones decompose in real time. Yeah, you heard me. Looking at the crop of new scripted series selected by the broadcast networks for 2024-25, one cannot help but reminisce about the 20th anniversary of what may have been broadcast television’s greatest season ever.
The 2004-05 season introduced several genre-defying series — all but one based on original ideas — whose impact on TV storytelling is still being felt: Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, House, The Office and Veronica Mars. Remarkably, one of them, Grey’s Anatomy is still around, having just been renewed by ABC for Season 21, along with another show that premiered that same season, animated comedy American Dad!.
Aside from the fact that the current economic realities of the TV business will likely never support another drama going to 21 seasons, broadcast networks will also likely never take chances on so many unconventional ideas: a sci-fi drama on a deserted island that set the tone for modern genre fare, a...

Authoritarian, ruthless, and cunning, Daniel Day Lewis’ Bill the Butcher stole the screen in Gangs of New York every time he appeared. His presence alone was menacing enough to make people drop on their knees and pray, and his impeccable skills with the knife only added a flair of danger to the man that already embodied it.

Thanks to his persuasive skills and the ability to seamlessly blend his legal and illegal businesses, Steve Buscemi’s Nucky controlled the entirety of Atlantic City with few who could — or wanted to — oppose him.

These 10 TV series prove that there is a way to present romance, intrigue, humor, and drama in a way that everyone can enjoy.
North and South (2004)
Although this story is romantic, there is a great emphasis on the historical background. The main character, Margaret Hale, is a southerner who is forced to move with her family to a northern city that has already been taken over by the new wave of industrialism. She must adapt to new customs and watch the world change before her eyes.
Peaky Blinders (2013-2022)

After delivering the definitive Batman with Batman: The Animated Series, Bruce Timm joined forces with Alan Burnett to give the other member of the World’s Finest a similar treatment. Voiced by Tim Daly, Superman: The Animated Series made its debut in 1996, and is often considered the definitive onscreen portrayal of the character, only next to Christopher Reeve.
But despite its success, Daly wasn’t brought back to voice Clark Kent in Justice League Unlimited, and The Sopranos star had a pretty good idea about why it was the case.
WB Was Not Thrilled by Tim Daly’s Risqué Joke A still from Superman: The Animated Series | Kid’s WB
Despite being the definitive voice of Superman to many, Tim Daly wasn’t asked to return in the succeeding Dcau shows to reprise his part, and per the actor, it might’ve to do with one joke. Speaking with Comic Book Central,...

Both on the awards circuit and in the public consciousness, HBO is widely regarded as among the first Hollywood heavyweights to recognize that television, as a medium, had the power to deliver sprawling, large scale stories on a smaller screen. From HBO’s ascent in the late 1990s through its dragon-aided roar across the 2010s, the network’s original series tackled universal stories, stretching across continents and decades.
The network hasn’t been without controversy, though. HBO faced questions about its lack of diversity in flagship series, including “Game of Thrones” and “Girls,” throughout the 2010s. And, unshackled from the restrictions of broadcast TV, the various steps the network took to push the limit of what’s allowed on screen garnered a fair share of pearl-clutching headlines; see “The Sopranos” in the ’90s and “Euphoria” just a few years back. And since the Warner Bros. and Discovery merger, there’s...

The Reagans are usually a tight-knit family, but their armor had some cracks.
Everyone was keeping secrets, and Frank learned that his high standards intimidated everyone he thought he was close with.
Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 8 offered some compelling storylines, but Frank's hurt feelings were the weakest.
Frank's conflicts with the Dream Team usually involve substantial disagreements related to policy. Frank usually wants to follow his values, while Garrett worries about optics. Sid wants to stand up for whichever cop is on the hot seat, even if Frank thinks the cop is wrong.
Frank's problem was personal this time despite his disguising it as a policy issue related to whether the office lets friends and relatives use their connection to their advantage.
Frank's feelings were hurt that Abigail didn't feel comfortable asking him about her husband's potential new job or her marital problems.
Frank: Why didn't Abigail tell me?
Garrett: Come on.

Upon sweeping the four main drama acting categories at the 2021 Emmy Awards, “The Crown” stars Olivia Colman, Josh O’Connor, Gillian Anderson, and Tobias Menzies all joined a special roster of lead or supporting TV academy honorees who were not part of their shows’ original casts. As members of the expansive Netflix series’ second of three distinct ensembles, this quartet and their co-stars were replaced ahead of season five by a new group of actors, some of whom could be added to said exclusive winners club later this year.
According to Gold Derby’s odds, the performer from the sixth and final season of “The Crown” with the best shot at Emmy glory is supporting female frontrunner Elizabeth Debicki. She played the role of Princess Diana for two seasons, finishing the job started by younger season four cast member Emma Corrin.
