It’s official: Disney+ and Hulu now live together in one app. Good thing too, since Disney already spent $8.5 billion to buy out Comcast’s stake, with more on the way.
You can bet you’re going to see a whole lot more ads pushing the Disney Bundle, which is the only way to get access to Hulu content via the Disney+ app (the marketing campaign is already in full swing). Disney even changed the color of its logo to a bluish green blend to let you know the app is Disney+ And Hulu merged together.
The idea is that by understanding how much content is available to you without having to swap between apps to find what you want to watch, you’re less likely to cancel. They also want more subscribers. Disney+ as of the end of 2023 has 46.1 million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada compared to Hulu’s 49.7 million.

Ontario has long been Hollywood’s go-to for Anytown, USA, for film and TV production. But fans of Amazon’s Reacher might be surprised to learn the crime thriller’s first season, which is set in a fictional rural Georgia town called Margrave, was mostly shot in an undeveloped corn field in Pickering, Ontario.
“Our original plan in the summer of 2020 was to shoot on location in a real Georgia town, but due to the pandemic, we pivoted to Toronto, where there were fewer Covid-19 cases and where we would be able to build a replica Georgia town — and fully control it,” says Drew Brown, executive vp production at Skydance Television.
The rural Georgia street- scape — with 30 stores and shops, a main square and gazebo, a police station and town hall, the Margrave diner, a barbershop, a gas station and one residential cottage — was well isolated from neighbors,...

At the end of the first episode of Murdoch Mysteries back in 2008, inventor Nikola Tesla proclaimed, “We are men of the future, Detective Murdoch, and what a future it shall be.” He was the first of many historical figures to become a character on the quirky, long-running Canadian series, set at the turn of the 20th century, and his words were certainly prophetic. Flash forward to 2022, and Murdoch and Co. are still forging boldly into the future: Season 15 premieres on cable channel Ovation Saturday, February 26 and streaming service Acorn TV Monday, February 28. By the time all 24 episodes air, Murdoch Mysteries will have produced more installments — 239 plus three stand-alone Christmas specials — than Canadian counterpart Heartland, Canada’s longest-running one-hour scripted drama, whose 15th season concluded with the 234th. “That’s the first I’ve heard of it,” says Yannick Bisson, who has played scientifically minded Toronto police detective William Murdoch since day one.

An eight-hour drama inspired by Carolyn Arnold’s “Madison Knight” detective novels is being developed by Muse Entertainment and Pop Fiction Entertainment.
Hélène Joy will star as Madison Knight, a daring detective who works to investigate criminals throughout the series. Orion Lee (“First Cow”) will portray Knight’s work partner, Detective Steven Hung. The action-packed crime drama is set on both the Pacific coastline of Sydney, Australia and the wilderness of British Columbia, Canada.
“As I read the books, I was immediately taken with Madison as a leading female character. She is unapologetic, unpredictable and deeply flawed. An extremely reluctant heroine if you will. What I love most is her sardonic nature and deeply sarcastic sense of humor. She doesn’t suffer fools and has little time for small talk,” said Joy, on her new role of Knight, in a statement.
Australian writer Justin Monjo and Canadian writer Lynn Coady are developing the series.
