Exclusive: Production is currently underway on the 12-episode fifth season of 9-1-1: Lone Star amid rampant speculation that this is the show’s final chapter and without one of the series regulars, Sierra McClain, who quietly left following some cast renegotiation drama, Deadline has learned.
“So excited to be a part of @911lonestar’s final season!! What a ride it’s been!,” Robyn Lively, who has recurred on the show as Marlene Harrism the mother of Judd’s (Jim Parrack) son, wrote on social media earlier this week before deleting the post.
That is a sentiment we have been hearing from other Lone Star cast members too, with some series regulars actively looking for new jobs.
As Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade told Deadline last month, the network had been hoping to make a renewal decision after they see how Season 5 of 9-1-1: Lone Star does this fall. That likely won’t be possible.

“The Roast of Tom Brady” was the No. 1 most-streamed title of the May 6-12 viewing window, according to Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings. The special aired live on Netflix on May 5, indicating that all 1.7 billion minutes of viewership on the chart happened after the stream.
“Grey’s Anatomy” was the No. 2 title with 1.1 billion minutes watched. The iconic medical drama makes the chart most weeks, but has seen an extra bump thanks to Hulu’s recent addition of a new Season 20 episode, which was the most-watched “Grey’s” episode of the week. “Bluey” landed at No. 3 with 1.1 billion minutes watched — commonplace for the popular children’s show.
At No. 4 was “Evil” with 788 million minutes watched across both Netflix and Paramount+. Seasons 1 and 2 of the supernatural drama were added to Netflix on April 30, generating interest ahead of the Paramount+ release of Season 4 on May 23.

Netflix’s live roast of NFL great Tom Brady made it into the Nielsen streaming rankings for its premiere, despite only being available for a few hours of that week. After its first full week on the streamer, it rocketed to the top of the charts.
The Roast of Tom Brady gathered 1.67 billion minutes of viewing for the week of May 6-12, leading all streaming titles by a wide margin (the second-place finisher, Grey’s Anatomy, had 1.11 billion minutes of watch time for the week). The roast also had by far the biggest weekly viewing tally ever for a Netflix special; the previous high was 798 million minutes for Chris Rock’s stand-up special Selective Outrage in March 2023.
The 1.67 billion minutes of viewing for the roast in the United States translates to about 27.87 million hours, or about two thirds of Netflix’s reported worldwide total (42.2 million hours) for the special that week.

The Netflix special roasting NFL great Tom Brady made it onto the streaming charts for the week it premiered — despite it only being up for a few hours of that week.
The Roast of Tom Brady racked up 279 million minutes for the week of April 29-May 5, good for 10th place among original series in Nielsen’s rankings. The special streamed live on May 5, meaning it tallied those viewing minutes in under 12 hours. (With a running time of almost three hours, the 279 million minutes equate to about 1.6 million complete runs of the special.)
Bluey moved back into the top overall spot with 1.18 billion minutes of viewing on Disney+, adding to its total as the most streamed title in the United States so far this year (21.73 billion minutes and counting). The Resident may have ended in January 2023, but if you ask us, we’d love to see a revival, stat! And we’re not the only ones. Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who starred as Dr. Aj Austin, can currently be seen recurring on 9-1-1 as a travel nurse—he’s back in a hospital!—who is first introduced in the burn unit. But as is revealed, he shares a tragic history with Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause): He was badly burned and his wife died in the fire that Bobby accidentally caused all those years ago that also claimed the lives of his family. And when TV Insider recently caught up with Warner about that arc, we had to ask if he’d want to return to Aj in any capacity if given the chance. “Aj was probably my favorite role, ...

“White Collar,” the police procedural that concluded on USA in 2014, made its debut on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings with 717 million minutes watched during the April 22-28 viewing window, landing in the No. 8 position.
The decade-old show’s viewership bump is thanks to what has recently become known as the Netflix effect; the streaming service has seen big success licensing titles with high episode counts that have previously finished their runs on other platforms.
But unlike “Suits,” the best example of this for its historic Nielsen run in summer 2023, “White Collar” took three weeks to make it to the chart, having been added to Netflix on April 1. This is unusual, as titles like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Killing Eve” made the overall Top 10 immediately after their Netflix debuts as well, while “White Collar” hasn’t even been on the list of the Top 10 acquired titles before now.

The finale of Shōgun pushed the series to its best showing so far on Nielsen’s streaming charts.
The FX-produced Hulu series had 608 million minutes of viewing time for the week of its finale, April 22-28. That’s a 45 percent jump from the prior week and Shōgun’s highest total in the nine weeks it has made the top 10. Its previous best was 513 million minutes for its premiere week, which featured the debut of two episodes.
Fallout claimed the overall No. 1 spot for the third straight week, the first such streak for a show on Amazon’s Prime Video. The series had 1.53 billion minutes of viewing, down by about 41 percent week to week. Its three-week total is now a little over 7 billion minutes.

Renny Harlin's "The Strangers: Chapter 1" is the third film in the "Strangers" series, but is intended to be the first film in a new rebooted trilogy sporting a unique continuity. Not that "The Strangers" possessed a complicated mythology; each movie follows a trio of mute, masked killers -- perhaps a family -- who have made a sport of breaking into people's houses and torturing them for kicks. In the credits of "Chapter 1," the killers are credited only as Dollface, Pin-Up Girl, and Scarecrow (previously called The Man in the Mask). This time around, they are played by Olivia Kreutzova, Letizia Fabbri, and Matúš Lajčák, respectively.
The plot of "Chapter 1" is as simple as can be: A young city couple (Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez) is driving to Portland, Oregon when they get waylaid in a small town called Venus. Naturally, their car breaks down and they have to...

Bobby Nash's story is one filled with sadness, and during 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 8, we got a much deeper look into his past and present.
Amir is someone from Bobby's past, though Bobby was only aware of that when Amir revealed at an AA meeting that the two had a deep history.
From that meeting forward, the hour unfolded in typical 9-1-1 fashion. It was emotionally charged and incredibly dense, as Bobby's plea for amends found the two men, once strangers, relying on one another for survival.
Esteemed and multi-talented actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner joined the cast for 9-1-1 Season 7 in the role of Amir, and he's already made quite an impact.
Bobby and Amir found themselves in a very precarious position, with threats in the form of people and the elements to contend with as they looked for help in the middle of the desert. Still, the...

Fallout had another record setting week for Prime Video.
In its second week on the streamer, the series amassed 2.6B minutes viewed, putting it at the top of Nielsen’s streaming charts once again for April 15 to 21.
That’s down slightly from its debut week, but still an impressive showing for the eight-episode series considering its the first time that any streamer besides Netflix has managed two consecutive 2B+ weeks with a single title.
The last to do so was Suits, which had more than 100 episodes to keep audiences engaged — and it wasn’t a streaming original. This makes Fallout‘s achievement all the more substantial.
Nielsen also reports that viewing was still skewed to the earlier episodes at this interval, indicating a strong performance still to come as audiences continue to make their way through the series.
It shouldn’t be hard to guess what made it to second place.

“Killing Eve” made its way onto Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings for the April 15-21 viewing window, enjoying a similar effect as titles like “Suits” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” that have seen increased popularity upon being added to Netflix despite having concluded years ago. The BBC thriller was watched for 719 million minutes in its first week on the streamer, landing at No. 8 on the chart.
But an interesting aspect of the series’ surge is the demographic breakdown of its audience. Per Nielsen, one third of “Killing Eve” viewership this week came from people age 65 and above, representing the largest concentration of viewers. That’s a surprise for a series perhaps most famous for the sexual tension between its two female leads, with one being a psychopathic assassin.

Netflix’s Baby Reindeer entered the streaming top 10 in mid-April, and given the continued buzz around the series, it’s likely to stay around for a while.
The show drew 673 million minutes of viewing for the week of April 15-21, according to Nielsen’s latest streaming rankings. That was good for third place among original series and ninth among all titles.
Prime Video’s Fallout had a second straight huge week, if not quite as big as its first. It had 2.62 billion minutes of watch time, off a slight 10 percent from its opening week, which was the best single week for a Prime Video show since Nielsen began its streaming rankings almost four years ago. It’s also the first show that doesn’t stream on Netflix to have back-to-back weeks above 2 billion minutes of viewing.

Shoots, da kine “Rescue Hi-Surf” is one lucky TV show, brah. Fox just gave it the cherry timeslot after Super Bowl Lix on Feb. 9, 2025. That’s a big vote of confidence for the freshman drama, which is set to premiere this fall on Monday nights at 9 p.m. Et, after “9-1-1: Lone Star.”

The balance between medical cases and touches of personal storylines continues.
The interns were mostly endearing during Grey's Anatomy Season 20 Episode 7, but the connections to the medical cases were most compelling.
If it slipped anyone's mind that the new batch of interns has shades of the Og interns, then this installment was a reminder of how much Simone Griffith is her class' Meredith Grey.
Most of the season has focused on the interns simply navigating life at Grey Sloan.
And sometimes, we don't delve into their personal elements nearly as much as we should.
The balance between giving us more insight into these new characters and providing surface-level connections to medical cases has been challenging.
But the installment revisited not only the pain of Simone dealing with a grandmother with dementia who still looks at Simione and sees the daughter she lost but also Simone's harrowing backstory.

It’s no wonder why Fallout got renewed.
Amazon’s video game adaptation stormed onto Nielsen’s streaming list in its debut weekend, racking up a whopping 2.9B minutes viewed in its first five days on the platform.
That was over a billion minutes more than anything else that was watched on streaming the week of April 8 to 14.
It’s also Amazon’s most successful title to date, according to Nielsen, considering it surpassed Reacher’s best week by over a billion minutes as well.
Nielsen reports the audience for Fallout in its premiere weekend was 63% male, and 75% of viewers were under 50. About 70% of viewing was concentrated in the first four episodes, which likely indicates some more big weeks for Fallout ahead.
In second place, unsurprisingly, was Bluey. The kids program continues to be a big winner for Disney+ and this interval was no different. The series attracted another 1.4B minutes viewed.

Prime Video has touted the viewer response to Fallout as its second-biggest series ever worldwide over 16 days of release. In the United States (and over a shorter time period), it’s No. 1.
Fallout recorded 2.9 billion minutes of viewing time in the U.S. over its first five days, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings for April 8-14. That’s far and away the best opening for a series on the Amazon-owned Prime Video, beating Reacher’s series premiere week in early 2022 (1.84 billion minutes) by more than a billion minutes.
The series also had more than double the second-place show on the list for the week: Bluey had 1.39 billion minutes of viewing in the week leading up to and including the release of its special episode “The Sign,” which premiered on April 14.

The doctors were in at the top of Nielsen’s streaming ratings for the beginning of April.
Medical dramas The Resident and Grey’s Anatomy were the top two titles for the week of April 1-7, finishing with 1.18 billion and 1.15 billion minutes of viewing time (both stream on Hulu and Netflix). The Resident actually slipped a little from the previous week‘s 1.48 billion minutes, which was good for second overall, but the show that had been ahead of it — Netflix’s 3 Body Problem — fell further. The sci-fi series dropped by about 47 percent to a still solid 937 million minutes of viewing.
Disney’s animated movie Wish had its streaming premiere on April 3 and racked up 1.02 billion minutes of watch time over its first five days on Disney+. It’s the first film on Disney+ to crack the billion-minute mark since Elemental did so in September 2023. Bluey (1.08 billion minutes) also crossed the...

The Resident is claiming sweet victory on the Nielsen streaming list.
After making its debut during the previous interval thanks to some measurement adjustments on Nielsen’s end, the medical drama racked up 1.18B minutes viewed across Netflix and Hulu from April 1 to 7.
It was joined in second place by another medical procedural, Grey’s Anatomy. According to Nielsen, that show put up 1.15B minutes viewed during the interval.
However, the company reports that Grey’s secured a younger crowd, with 35% of its audience coming from the 18-34 demo, while The Resident nabbed 30% of its viewers from the 50-64 crowd.
Disney+ locked in third and fourth place with Bluey and Wish, respectively. The kids show, which is consistently in the Top 10, put up another billion-minute week with nearly 1.1B minutes viewed. Meanwhile, Wish was the first film on Disney+ to hit the billion-minute mark since Elemental with 1.018B minutes viewed.

The children’s animated film “Wish” debuted with just over 1 billion minutes watched in its first five days of streaming on Disney+, per Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings for the April 1-7 interval. Having debuted on April 3, that makes the movie the fourth-most-streamed title of the week.
The No. 1 title of the week was “The Resident,” up from No. 2 the week before when an update to Nielsen’s measurement capabilities drove the series’ chart debut. Across both Hulu and Netflix, the medical drama was watched for nearly 1.2 billion minutes from April 1 to April 7.
“Grey’s Anatomy” was the second-most-streamed title of the week with just over 1.1 billion minutes watched across both Netflix and Hulu. This was a strong viewership bump for the series, which makes the chart almost every week but typically in a lower position. “Bluey” is a constant in the top half of the chart, and made No. 3 during...

There will likely be some new faces on the Nielsen streaming lists going forward, thanks to a change in the company’s measurements — including The Resident, which crept up to No. 2 during the week of March 25 to 31.
The series racked up nearly 1.5B minutes viewed across Hulu and Netflix, though that wasn’t enough to beat out Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, which took the top spot with almost 1.8B minutes viewed.
Family Guy is also new to the list, debuting at No. 6 with 837M minutes viewed. Nielsen says that “business agreements which preceded the rankings” kept these series off the lists until now.
“The Scr (Streaming Content Ratings) product enhancement has addressed these areas, significantly increasing the breadth of programs reported. All affected programs fall into the acquired category, having been primarily available on Hulu and/or Peacock after airing on a given linear network,” the company wrote.

Netflix’s 3 Body Problem delivered its second straight No. 1 showing among streaming titles, leading the rankings for the last week of March. The acquired series top 10 had several new entrants, thanks in part to a change in how Nielsen reports the numbers.
The ratings service says it made an “enhancement” to its Streaming Content Ratings, which is the basis for the weekly top 10 lists, that results in a number of programs being added to the Scr product. (They weren’t previously “due to business agreements which preceded the rankings, coupled with the associated technical aspects of measurement.”) The affected programs stream mostly on Hulu and Peacock after airing on linear networks.
The upshot is that former Fox series The Resident (1.48 billion minutes on Hulu and Netflix) and animated mainstays Family Guy (837 million minutes on Hulu) and American Dad (619 million on Hulu) all made their first appearance in the top...

ously unavailable. Per Nielsen, a combination of previous business agreements and technical aspects of measurement prevented several acquired series from inclusion in its weekly rankings, and while most of those titles would not have made the Top 10 anyways, some are debuting for the first time thanks to more accurate analysis.
Among those titles is “The Resident,” which appeared on the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for the first time during this viewing window in the No. 2 position with 1.5 billion minutes watched. The medical procedural ran on Fox for six seasons from 2018 to 2023 before being canceled, and has seen increased popularity since being added to Netflix in early March, though it was already available on Hulu.
“Family Guy” also jumped onto the overall Top 10 because of the measurement update, taking sixth place with 837 million minutes watched. And on the chart of the Top 10 acquired titles, the update drove “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” to No.

If Gerry and Theresa are the blueprint for love in the Golden Years, then the future looks bleak as hell.
What The Golden Bachelor promised with a premise unlike anything else they have pushed on reality television is a certain theme of "hope."
The concept of The Golden Bachelor meant that in a country and a reality television realm that rarely makes space for people over 50, there was a genuine acknowledgment that love, desire, sex, and romance don't shrivel up and die once you're middle-aged.
People are still vibrant and looking for love and romance, and it can exist and happen.
Hope isn't lost. It's a positive message for middle-aged individuals who are far too accustomed to the notion that they cease to exist as valuable, whole beings.
But it's also inspiring for younger individuals as the narrative continues to shift and fears are assuaged regarding what aging actually means...

It seems that not a single Gunn’s announcement related to the upcoming ‘Superman’ reboot can go without controversy. A while back, when Milly Alcock was cast as Supergirl, the director was criticized for having an all-white main cast of the movie.
Now the most recent outrage is directed toward the cast being “D-List” in nature. Everything started with the announcement that Pruitt Taylor Vince will be cast as Jonathan Kent in the upcoming reboot with Neva Howell cast as Martha Kent, Superman’s adoptive human mother.
Even though both actors are established in their own right with medium-sized roles, none of them in the past has led blockbusters. 9-1-1 is adding a face from Bobby’s (Peter Krause) past for the second half of Season 7.
According to Deadline, Malcolm-Jamal Warner has landed a four-episode arc as Amir.
Amir is a nurse in a hospital’s burn unit with a surprising connection to Bobby.
Details about how the pair come into contact have not been disclosed, but given that we know Amir’s profession, there’s a good chance it will result from a character winding up in that unit.
If Amir’s tie is to Bobby, we expect it to be someone from the 118.
Let’s hope it isn’t Buck (Oliver Stark). He needs a break after his brush with death after being struck by lightning.
Could Malcolm Jamal-Warner become a new series regular?
It’s unclear whether the four episodes could become something more because 9-1-1 has already earned a Season 8 renewal at ABC.

Logan Huntzberger himself, Matt Czuchry, chimed in on the decades-long debate over which of Rory’s (Alexis Bledel) boyfriends was the best. And he did it in the most diplomatic way possible.
Czuchry stopped by The Talk to promote his upcoming role in American Horror Story: Delicate and spent some time discussing arguably one of his biggest onscreen characters: Logan in Gilmore Girls.
The debate over which of Rory’s boyfriends is the best in the Amy Sherman-Palladino series has been ongoing since the show was first released in the early 2000s and continues to maintain its popularity today.
The daytime show’s hosts asked Czuchry about his thoughts on a viral TikTok from last year that raised a point that perhaps both Logan and Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) are below-average partners, and that’s why women’s standards for men have been so low over the past two decades.

Now that Fox’s medical drama The Resident has hit Netflix, Matt Czuchry’s performance as Dr. Conrad Hawkins is back in the spotlight — but Gilmore Girls fans will always remember him as Logan Huntzberger. He portrayed Rory’s (Alexis Bledel) love interest Logan in Amy Sherman Palladino’s dramedy, which premiered on The WB in 2000 and ended its run on The CW in 2007. Logan first crossed paths with Rory at Yale in the Season 5 episode “Written in the Stars,” and immediately made a poor impression as he spoke patronizingly to her friend, repeatedly forgot her name, and just generally came off as an insufferable rich kid. However, even if you were #TeamJess, it was still difficult to not be at least a little charmed by Logan.

The newest hit medical drama isn't exactly new at all.
In fact, The Resident is about seven years old, and it stole our hearts from the first episode.
TV Fanatic prides itself on our The Resident Coverage. You can check out our The Resident Reviews for every single episode of all six seasons. We also had some great discussions with The Resident Round Tables.
If you're checking into Chastain Memorial for the first time, thanks to The Resident dropping on Netflix, we're pleased to have you on board with this fandom.
You won't find bigger fans of this series than us here at TV Fanatic.
But with all six seasons dropping at once on Netflix, we can't help but wonder if The Resident is a series that falls short of the perfect Netflix Binge.
It's not to say it isn't holding its own.
