Fanático (2022)
I kept waiting for that big reveal
This series could've been a film and it wouldn't have made a difference. The need of a series is to experiment with deeper themes and context, but I believe the writers room couldn't think of anything more deep. There are some interesting moments, but they missed a big opportunity here, maybe add some Shakespearean influences- the series first episode made me think of hamlet, however, as it continues its just about a wannabe boy that is having an identity crisis.
It's a show that could've done more. The characters could've had more impact, and I would've wished for the main character to be more interesting...he's just sooo bland. Even a murder plot for him would've been more interesting for him.
In terms of the way it's shot, nothing new or interesting just usual Netflix approach. Colours, music and mis en scene were okay.
The acting was okay, nothing extraordinary. I liked pompa I think he's an interesting character and the guy who played Lazaro was fine. My favourite was Camila overall.
The Exorcism of God (2021)
I enjoyed it
I rented this film and watched it late at night. It's very goofy at points, but I do need to admit I got spooked at points!
I do recommend it and I hope to see more things from the director!
Les liaisons dangereuses (2022)
Wrong everything
This is one of the worst book adaptations I've seen in a while.
The tone was all over the place and couldn't decide what it wanted to be.
It felt like the people who made this film has never dealt with a real teenagers in their lives or knew anything about the French Culture.
Go and watch Cruel Intentions instead if you want to see a more modern approach to this 1782 French novel adaptation.
The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
Wacky, Funny and Entertaining
I loved this film. I recommend it to all people! The animators and screenwriters did a great job.
Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol (2020)
Ra Ra is a lovable character
I was waiting for a while for a nice Rom-com. I am enjoying the characters so far, and there are not a lot of cringe moments.
It is a good show to watch to have a good time.
Hoops (2020)
I only laughed once while watching the show entirely.
The cartoon wasn't bad. However it may have not been my cup of tea. I believe the intense yelling and unlikable main character didn't help.
The best thing about this show: the kids.
I know I won't be seeing the second series (if there's one).
Can You Keep a Secret? (2019)
Unfunny, uninteresting and weak
This is my review: I forward it every 15 secs to see if there were good scenes but no. Unfunny, uninteresting and weak.
There are romcoms with Adam Sandler that are way better than this.
It was not even entertaining.
Dos de Trébol (2014)
A good attempt to film something different in Venezuela
Although it is noticeable the film had a low budget, there are very interesting aspects such as the way the magic gets presented in the cinematography.
I really enjoyed Rosmel Bustamante acting, he was the best of the entire cast. The other characters leave much to be wished.
The storytelling had nothing really interesting about it, and I think some aspects of it could have entirely been avoided. For instance, the grandmother character was unnecessary. She was only used as an expository device. I think the film would've worked perfectly without her. The film to be more convincible in that aspect needed something else, but I am not sure what.
This film reminded me of About a Boy, but the emotional connection between the characters was very weak.
Overall this was a interesting film and I recommend it! It was the first film I had seen from Venezuela that had nothing to do with shanty towns and poverty. It was an enjoyable film, and I hope the director gets to make more in the future.
