Starting with A New Hope, George Lucas crafted the iconic space opera Star Wars, which continues to captivate millions for decades. While the filmmaker remains the mastermind behind the galactic saga, the cast has also occasionally contributed to its development, with actors like Samuel L. Jackson and Harrison Ford suggesting enhancements to improve the final product on screen.

Carrie Fisher’s Star Wars movies made her a global star. The actor joined the franchise when she was just 19. Starring alongside Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, Fisher’s Princess Leia has been one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe. The creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, once fell victim to a friendly roast from Fisher at the AFI Life Achievement Award in her tribute to Lucas.

Carrie Fisher blamed Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens for Harrison Ford’s 2015 plane crash and her near-fatal car accident. She was convinced that the movie was cursed and even made a call to Mark Hamill to make sure that he was okay. Fisher returned to her role as Princess Leia in the film after 32 years in The Force Awakens and took some time to get settled in.

Some actors are just born to play specific roles and seeing them portray a range of different characters not only looks startling but appalling. Seeing Jim Parsons playing a role other than Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory gives a similar feeling. It isn’t that he has been typecast or put into a box, but seeing how perfectly the actor essayed the role of the genius physicist, it is hard to imagine him as anyone other than Sheldon.

Nearly seven years after its release, one of the most controversial scenes in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues to be when Luke Skywalker, Jedi Master and veritable legend, tells the next generation about what the Jedi really represent. While training the franchise’s newest protagonist, Rey (Daisy Ridley), Mark Hamill’s now grizzled and ancient Luke intones, “The Jedi are romanticized, deified. But if you strip away the myth and look at their deeds, the legacy of the Jedi is failure; hypocrisy; hubris.”
The scene wasn’t taken well by some corners of the Star Wars fandom in 2017, and it’s not taken well now. Yet I’ve been thinking quite a bit about it in lieu of Disney+’s upcoming and hotly anticipated new Star Wars series, The Acolyte. My Adventures with Superman is one of the most brilliant superhero animated series. Created by Brendan Clougher, Jake Wyatt, and Josie Campbell, the Adult Swim series tells the story of Superman aka Clark Kent as he starts his new job at The Daily Planet, with his roommate Jimmy Olson, and his senior intern at The Daily Planet who is none other than Lois Lane. They quickly become a team and try to bring in big stories so that they can become real reporters while Clark also tries to become the hero he is meant to be. My Adventures with Superman has great action but the brilliant thing about the series is that it isn’t an action series about Superman, it’s a series about a superhero and his relationships as he figures out who he really is. Actress Carrie Fisher carved a special place in the hearts of millions of cinemagoers with her iconic role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars films. Fisher debuted as Leia in the original trilogy of films, which catapulted her to superstardom. She later reprised her role in the sequels produced by Disney, until her untimely passing.

George Lucas has a very pointed message for “Star Wars” haters who mocked the franchise prequels and cancelled Jar Jar Binks: the movies aren’t for you.
“It was supposed to be a kid’s movie for 12-year-olds that were going through puberty, who don’t know what they’re doing, and are asking all the big questions: What should I be worried about? What’s important in life?,” Lucas said at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday, where he received an honorary Palme d’Or.
“And ‘Star Wars’ has all those things in there. They’re buried in there but you definitely get it, especially if you’re young,” he continued.
Of the ire that the character of Jar Jar Binks drew when he was introduced in “The Phantom Menace,” Lucas explained, “Everybody said the same thing about 3-po, that he was irritating and we should get rid of him.

Since its inception in 1977 by creator George Lucas, the Star Wars universe has invited some of Hollywood’s biggest names to participate in telling stories from a galaxy far, far away. On that note, imagine having the chance to star in one of the most iconic film sagas of all time, only to walk away with an unpleasant memory that seemed like it’d never fade.
Can an experience alongside a cinematic legend like Lucas ever be, dare we say, “boring”? Well, for Terence Stamp, acclaimed for his chilling portrayal of the villainous General Zod in Richard Donner’s Superman, a discouraging stint on the set of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace left an indelible mark.

Kevin Conroy has portrayed Batman more often than anyone else, appearing in a variety of animated films, TV series, and, of course, video games. Part of what made the late actor so iconic was his distinctive way of delivering the richness of dynamic dialogue that became essential to the Batman character.

On that note, back in 2017, Conroy spoke with Rob Paulsen on Nerdist’s Talkin’ Toons podcast and skillfully narrated Christian Bale’s epic speech from The Dark Knight’s climactic scene.

Looking back, the early nineties were the best of times and worst of times for Batman fans. George Lucas’ Star Wars prequel trilogy has often faced criticism for various elements, from the cast’s performances to the complex political narrative. After The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones did not fare well among the audience, fans had already lost hope for Episode III.

While the movie defied expectations, with a positive box office and critical reception, it still faced criticism for aspects like Hayden Christensen’s performance and Lucas’s screenplay. However, as it celebrates its 19th anniversary, fans have gradually come to appreciate the film, recognizing it as an underrated gem in the franchise.

There are many sung heroes associated with the overall Star Wars franchise, such as Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and George Lucas. However, all of these stars have been lauded for their work humungously and continue to receive praise habitually from fans of the never-dying series.
However, some names that also played a huge role in making the original trilogy of films a reality did not quite get the same due. Among them is none other than Frank Oz, originally a puppeteer, and the man responsible for bringing to life one of the most celebrated characters in the Star Wars universe: Yoda.

Oz’s troubles with respect to his work on the franchise included a ‘freaky encounter’ with snakes. Yes, actual, slithering, poisonous, moving, snakes that he was exposed to by the director, Irvin Kershner.

There are several Star Wars projects in the works right now. One is a new film by Mangold set thousands of years in the past, and another is a project by Waititi that he claims will upset fans. Somewhere in between is a new Rey movie called “Star Wars: Episode X,” tentatively titled “New Jedi Order,” which is closely tied to its storyline.
Announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, this new movie focuses on Rey’s journey after “The Rise of Skywalker.” Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, it follows Rey as she tries to rebuild the Jedi Order. Originally, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were supposed to write it, but Steven Knight took over. The story is set 15 years after “Rise of Skywalker,” exploring the galaxy after the war and the fall of the First Order, with the Jedi facing challenges. Mark Hamill remembered his Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher in a 2023 interview and opened up about the tumultuous relationship they shared over the years. The duo were cast as siblings Luke and Leia Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy and reprised their roles in Disney’s sequel films. Fisher passed away in 2016 after suffering from a heart attack. Hamill recalled how they constantly argued and made up, presumably until her death.

James Mangold has had an interesting filmography over the years venturing in various genres and not typecasting himself to a certain type of filmmaker. Films like Girl Interrupted, Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, Logan, and Ford v Ferrari proved that Mangold could competently handle various genres with great relatability and emotional heft.

Harrison Ford has been known for his gritty and hard-boiled roles in his long career. While he has been part of adventurous films such as the Indiana Jones franchise, he is mostly known for his grim action films such as Air Force One, The Fugitive, and Blade Runner.
The actor has gotten the reputation of being a no-nonsense man off-screen as well due to his brutal honesty. However, one interview with his Blade Runner 2049 co-star Ryan Gosling seemed to have broken him out of his shell. Star Wars – one of the many phenomena that forever changed the landscape of pop culture in modern history – has brought us stories of unbridled joy, hope, love, friendship, camaraderie, candor, optimism in the face of utter loss, and resolution in the face of utter despair. And yet, there remain aspects of the narrative that are as mysterious today as they were 47 years ago.

In October 2012, Disney dropped a bombshell, announcing their acquisition of Lucasfilm and the entire Star Wars universe. Along with that, they also revealed they’ve also snagged a treatment for Episodes VII-ix directly from the mastermind himself, George Lucas. Yet, amidst the chaos, it was the Star Wars fans who were confused the most.
George Lucas [Photo: Joey Gannon/Wikimedia Commons]As it wasn’t a secret that Lucas was content to bid farewell to Star Wars after Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. He had no intentions of making a seventh installment. Thus, this left room for many to speculate. And the questions raised: Did Lucas’ vision shape the new era of the saga, or did Disney chart a different course entirely?

I vividly recall when the trailer for "Star Wars Rebels" season 3 debuted at Star Wars Celebration in 2016. When the promo unveiled Grand Admiral Thrawn -- the awesome Big Bad of Timothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire" novel trilogy from the Expanded Universe (aka Star Wars Legends) -- as the season's main threat, it was a fist-pump moment for fans of the EU. So, naturally, when the "Rebels" panel opened up to fan questions, one brave soul told "Rebels" co-creator/showrunner Dave Filoni the thing that was on everybody's minds: Do Mara Jade next!
Okay, they framed it as more of a query, but that was the gist.
Mara Jade, as it were, was introduced in "Heir to the Empire" as an assassin in the Emperor's Hand, a secret agent group that served Emperor Palpatine in the EU. A version of the Hand now exists is the Disney canon, but...

Mark Hamill has been synonymous with two classic characters in pop culture history. While he remains the face of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, he lent his vocal talents to Batman’s arch-nemesis Joker in the Dcau. Beginning with Batman: The Animated Series, Hamill has lent his voice to the character in multiple Dcau shows and movies.
One of Hamill’s most distinctive qualities as the Joker is his laugh. The laugh of the animated Joker has been forever associated with the character and many have tried to emulate the maniacal nuance of Hamill’s iteration. The actor mentioned that he used the laugh not just to create an eerie characteristic but also to communicate his feelings with just a cackle.

For every DC fan who has been introduced to Batman, his foes, and Gotham City via Batman: The Animated Series, Mark Hamill will always be the preferred Joker. Although the actor is famously known for his onscreen performance as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, fans still believe his way of striking the essential balance between crazy and scary was beyond comparison.

Gina Carano, who was fired from “Star Wars” in 2021 over social media posts, has filed a lawsuit against Disney for terminating her. Disney claims she was fired over social media posts “trivializing” the Holocaust, but her co-star Pedro Pascal had behaved similarly and was not fired. Now, Carano’s attorneys are firing back at Disney’s attempt to dismiss the lawsuit, claiming that they are protected from her suit by the First Amendment.
In a new filing, Carano’s attorneys fight against Disney’s dismissal, arguing that the First Amendment does not give employers the right to control their employees’ speech. They also argue that Disney admitted to “discrimination” based on her political beliefs and did not hold male co-stars to the same standard, namely Mark Hamill and Pedro Pascal.

"The Witch" and "The Green Knight" star Ralph Ineson is known for playing imposing, sometimes otherworldly figures (also: a love-to-hate-him character in the UK version of "The Office"), so it's only natural that he'll be playing a supervillain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. News broke yesterday that Ineson has been cast as Galactus, the planet-eating god figure whom Jack Kirby and Stan Lee first introduced during a Fantastic Four run in the '60s. Galactus appeared in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" in 2007, but this time around, the character will return to a much more interconnected Marvel world beginning with Phase Six kickoff "The Fantastic Four."
Ineson may have just nabbed a major role in the long-running superhero franchise, but this actually isn't the first time he's appeared in an MCU film. A full decade ago, Ineson popped up briefly in "Guardians of the Galaxy," playing a Ravager pilot.

Bruce Timm’s Batman: The Animated Series, which kickstarted the DC Animated Universe (Dcau) is regarded as the best adaptation of the Caped Crusader by many. Besides the plot, one of the primary reasons for its popularity was the iconic voice castings. The late Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and Joker have left an indelible mark on the viewers’ minds.
Kevin Conroy’s Batman and Mark Hamill’s Joker
While Conroy is often hailed as the best Batman ever, Mark Hamill’s performance is considered even more praiseworthy than the critically acclaimed live-action works. However, the Star Wars star was not the first choice to play a Dcau role. It was only for voice director Andrea Romano, that Hamill could give us the legendary Joker performance.

With MultiVersus returning later this month, WB Games and developer Player First Games appear to have started dropping more incentives for players to return to the game. That involves revealing The Joker as the latest playable character to join the upcoming free-to-play platform fighter, with the legendary Mark Hamill returning to voice the character.
The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer, which appropriately sees Batman (who’s already in MultiVersus) confronting The Joker, who drops a little reference to the version portrayed by Jack Nicholson in 1989’s Batman. No word yet on The Joker’s abilities or moveset just yet.
The Joker joins the aforementioned Batman as well as Harley Quinn in MultiVersus, along with Shaggy and Velma from Scooby-Doo, and Gizmo and Stripe from Gremlins. Again, here’s hoping that the rumour regarding Eleven from Stranger Things, Godzilla and Beetlejuice joining the MultiVersus roster turns out to be true.
