- (November 9 to 23, 1991) His novel, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," was adapted by Richard R. George in an Apprentice/Intern production at the Actors Theatre of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky with the 1991-1992 Acting Apprentice Company in the cast. Reid Davis was director.
- (March 5 to April 2, 2005) David Wood's stage adaptation of his novel, "The Witches," was performed at the Wyndham's Theatre in London, England with Ruby Wax (Grand High Witch); Dilys Laye (Grandmother); Keith Saha (Bruno) and Giles Cooper (Luke) in the cast. Jonathan Church was director. Simon Higlett was video designer.
- (2016 to 2017 season) His play, "James and the Giant Peach," was performed at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Diane Paulus was artistic director.
- (2018 to 2019 season) Tim Minchin's musical,"Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical," was performed at the Drury Lane Productions in Chicago, Illinois with Sean Fortunato (Miss Trunchbull) in the cast.
