The Rocky movies are pretty synonymous with cinema. You’ve got every kind of movie you could want, the intimate Academy Award-winning underdog original and its closely knit sequel, the fun and cheesy spectacles of Rocky III and Rocky IV, the misguided attempt to recapture its roots with Rocky V, and the old war horse, broken down, one-last-fight inspiration of Rocky Balboa. The story behind the first movie is as engaging as the movie itself, which is why it will be the subject of a new movie from Peter Farrelly called I Play Rocky.
Blu-ray.com has unveiled that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will now be releasing the Rocky series, sans Creed spin-offs, with the new 4K Ultra HD Rocky: Ultimate Knockout Collection. The set will encompass all versions of the commercially released films in Uhd, which includes both the theatrical version of Rocky IV and the recut Rocky Vs.

Omg, it's finally happened.
Adam Sandler fans are getting a Happy Gilmore 2, nearly 30 years in the making.
The sequel of the 1996 hit comedy is a dual project between Netflix and Happy Madison Productions, Sandler's company.
Sandler hooked a generation of viewers with his crass, blue-collar character infiltrating one of the most white-collar sports.
With his anger management issues and working-class mannerisms, we felt like he was one of us. And we couldn't help but root for him to win.
Happy Gilmore couldn't cut it as a hockey player, but it turned out he was hellah good at golf -- with a custom hockey stick golf club.
And fans loved him, turning golf into a spectator sport that drew all the wrong crowds.
At least, that's how Shooter McGavin -- played by Christopher McDonald -- felt. He tried so hard to earn that gold jacket, only to lose it to a scuzzy amateur golfer wannabe.

The actor is just one of those rare comedic talents giving back-to-back hits, which make the audience laugh their heads off. Throughout his stellar acting career, Sandler has done a ton of films, but his most popular film would be Happy Gilmore.

A Happy Gilmore sequel has been greenlit at Netflix, with Adam Sandler returning to star. More details here.
Back in March, there were reports that a sequel to Adam Sandler’s 1996 golf comedy Happy Gilmore had been written, and actor Christopher McDonald had read it. Given the popularity of the film, it seemed to be a question not of if, but when.
We now have the answer, as the sequel has officially been greenlit by Netflix.
The original film, directed by regular collaborator Denis Dugan and written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, followed Sandler as the titular character, an aspiring ice hockey player who enters a high-profile golfing tournament to earn money to buy his grandmother’s house.
Though his angry outbursts and profane patter initially cause outrage, his skill and tenacity eventually win through in the end. Featuring memorable supporting turns from the much missed Carl Weathers, the imposing...

Netflix is tap, tap, tapping into one of Adam Sandler’s most beloved characters, Happy Gilmore, for a sequel to the Saturday Night Live alum’s 1996 comedy hole-in-one! On Wednesday, Netflix announced Happy Gilmore 2 during its Upfront presentation, confirming Adam Sandler’s return as the ill-tempered hockey player turned professional golfer.
Happy Gilmore star Christopher MacDonald was the first to say Adam Sandler is developing Happy Gilmore 2 in April. A sequel to Happy Gilmore is officially coming to Netflix.
The streamer officially announced Happy Gilmore 2 with Adam Sandler returning in the starring role during its upfront presentation to advertisers on Wednesday.
Released in 1996, Happy Gilmore starred Sandler as a failed hockey player with a power slapshot and massive temper who tries his hand at golf. Nearly three decades later, it remains one of Sandler’s most beloved comic ventures.
Sandler previously expressed interest in making a Happy Gilmore sequel in a 2021. At the time, he floated the possibility of centering the film around a senior golf tournament, but cautioned that nothing had been written.
However, earlier this year, Christopher McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin in the original film, let it slip that Sandler was working on a draft for Happy Gilmore 2. Sandler’s longtime friend and collaborator Drew Barrymore subsequently confirmed (via Sandler himself) that the project was “in process.

Netflix has given an official order to the Happy Gilmore sequel recently teased as being in the works, Deadline has confirmed.
The streamer made the announcement during its Upfront presentation on Wednesday, confirming that Adam Sandler is set to return as the golfer that gives the classic comedy its name. No word of a logline or other attachments for the moment.
Actor Christopher McDonald, who played Gilmore’s pro golfer nemesis Shooter McGavin, was first to get word out about the project with comments made in March. Now here’s a real underdog story. Peter Farrelly (“Green Book”) is set to direct a film inspired by the story of how Sylvester Stallone came to make his seminal 1976 boxing film “Rocky.”
The film is titled “I Play Rocky,” and per its official logline, which never names Stallone directly, the film “follows a struggling actor with a partially paralyzed face and a speech impediment who writes a script that a big movie studio wants to buy, but he refuses to sell it unless he gets to play the lead.”
The logline continues: “Turning down an offer of life-changing money, he instead works for pennies to get the movie made with himself in the starring role.” The movie becomes the biggest box office hit of 1976, garnering 10 Academy Award nominations and winning Best Picture.

There’s a special tug at the heartstrings that follows the death of an actor who’s been closely associated with a death scene, as is the case with Bernard Hill, who died May 5 at the age of 79.
The death of Juanita Moore in 2013 at the age of 98 came 54 years after maybe the ultimate movie deathbed scene — not to mention funeral, with a horse-drawn hearse and Mahalia Jackson eulogizing her in song — in Douglas Sirk’s “Imitation of Life.” And when Carl Weathers died earlier this year, it came nearly four decades after his best-known character, Apollo Creed, had died in “Rocky IV,” prompting the entire “Creed” franchise to spring up in his wake, with him conspicuously, obviously, absent.
Much praise and remembrance has been given since Hill’s passing to his role as Captain E.J. Smith in James Cameron’s “Titanic.” But Bernard Hill’s death scene as Theoden...

Sylvester Stallone revealed on the TMZ special “Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons” (via The Daily Mail) that a near career-ending injury in the lead up to “Rocky II” threatened to end the boxing franchise before its first sequel got off the ground. It has been a lucky 13 years since Tom Hiddleston first played Loki, the God of Mischief in the film “Thor.” He returned to the role recently for season two of the TV series “Loki.” This Disney+ show provided a beautiful end (we’ll see) to the character’s epic arc.
The sophomore outing of the series seee Loki trying to save the universe with the help of Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Mobius (Owen Wilson), and Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan). Kang (Jonathan Majors) is once again at the center of the trouble. The series is fantastical and is held together by the superb performance of Hiddleston. Once again, this classically trained actor brings Shakespearean authority to the role. He is also able to infuse increasing vulnerability to the former villain, making Loki one of the best characters in MCU history. Critics agree, “Loki” is the Tom Hiddleston show.

The 1990s represented a golden epoch for action cinema. This was the time which saw VHS and its digitized successor DVD introduce a whole new generation of fans to the magic of stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. And those titans from the ‘80s still claimed big wins, too, at the box office and home media via the likes of Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Demolition Man, and Cliffhanger.
It was also the decade that saw audiences turn out in droves to theaters and rental stores to catch a glimpse of Steven Seagal’s flying fists in movies like Under Siege or Jean-Claude Van Damme and his trademark splits in Timecop; Jackie Chan finally got the larger American fanbase he so richly deserved thanks to the Rush Hour movies while Bruce Willis gave us Die Hard With A Vengeance, the best of all the Die Hard sequels, before pivoting...

In the 1996 classic comedy, Sandler played the title character, a hockey player turned golfer. Christopher McDonald played his rival, Shooter McGavin, and let it slip last month that a sequel was in development.
Additional Happy Gilmore cast included Julie Bowen, Carl Weathers, Kevin Nealon, and professional golfer Lee Trevino.
A memorable appearance and line involved the late Bob Barker, who hosted The Price Is Right for 35 years.
Following the big sequel news leaked last month via McDonald, Sandler appeared on The Dan Patrick Show to discuss the movie’s status.

Update: It looks like Christopher McDonald was right about Adam Sandler working on the script for Happy Gilmore. Sandler’s fave co-star and longtime pal Drew Barrymore confirmed, in a clip from today’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, that the sequel is indeed happening. “I want it. I need it. And I stayed up last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison,” says Barrymore, adding later, “I’ll just say this, from my source, that it is in process.”
Barrymore famously starred with Sandler in three movies, The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates and Blended. The two have remained close over the years, with Sandman frequently turning up on her show. While he’s mostly focused on drama recently, including the recent Netflix film Spaceman, Happy Gilmore 2 would likely be warmly received by fans, especially if co-stars Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen return.

However, his recent appearance has seemingly drawn some controversy from some fans. To be more precise, his one outfit from the brilliant show has some fans calling him gay: A crop top! Adam Sandler’s sports comedy film Happy Gilmore was a controversial project, as evident in its mixed reviews from critics. It took so many liberties with the rules of golf that even a professional player could not believe the script even existed.

The movie ended up becoming a commercial success, though, and with that, it is getting a sequel. Happy Gilmore 2 has been announced by actor Christopher McDonald.
Professional Golfer Could Not Believe Adam Sandler’s Original Script For Happy Gilmore
Golf pro Mark Lye was hired as Happy Gilmore’s official script consultant and upon reading the paper, he kept crossing out parts that should not be there, probably shaking his head as he did that, and wondering if there was anything they got right. He said via PGA Tour:
“You gotta be crazy. You cannot do a movie like that. They had the green jacket.

Happy Gilmore star Christopher McDonald said he’s seen a script for a sequel to Adam Sandler’s popular golf comedy. Brace yourselves for Happy Gilmore 2…
Of all the comedy films Adam Sandler made in the 1990s, few are as beloved as Happy Gimore. Directed by regular collaborator Denis Dugan and written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, the film followed Sandler as the titular character, an aspiring ice hockey player who enters a high-profile golfing tournament to earn money to buy his grandmother’s house. Though his angry outbursts and profane patter initially cause outrage, his skill and tenacity eventually win through in the end.
Featuring memorable supporting turns from the much missed Carl Weathers, the imposing Richard Kiel, also known as Jaws from the James Bond films The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker, and a violent clash with genial game show host Bob Barker, the film also saw...

Former Mma fighter Gina Carano recently opened up to The Hollywood Reporter for a new profile piece. When Elon Musk posted that he would cover any legal expenses for lawsuits in cases where the defendant claims their free speech was being impeded, Carano would take him up on his offer. Carano claimed Disney and Lucasfilm harassed and defamed her for refusing to conform to their viewpoints. Alamo Drafthouse’s First Florida Location to Open in Spring and Feature Mini Golf Course (Exclusive)
Alamo Drafthouse is heading to the Sunshine State.
The movie theater chain’s first Florida location will open in Naples in the spring. Alamo Drafthouse Naples will include a mini golf course in the lobby with each of the nine holes inspired by classic films.
“Naples is a golfer’s paradise, so we knew we had to do something special there for our first Florida location,” says Alamo Drafthouse CEO Michael Kustermann. “[It] will be a unique venue for our guests to relax, enjoy a few drinks, and hit golf balls into an alligator’s mouth – we couldn’t be more excited about it!”
In addition to the green, the Naples venue will feature a full bar with 24 beers on tap and a golf-themed cocktail list. One of the brews, Chubbs’ 19th Hole Blonde Ale, is named after the “Happy Gilmore” character portrayed by Carl Weathers. A custom tap handle in...

The In Memoriam segment of the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday night paid a moving tribute to several stars and movie industry folk who have died over the last year — but, as ever, social media was quick to point out the more glaring omissions.
During the telecast, the In Memoriam segment featured Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo performing a moving rendition of “Con te partirò” as pictures of talent who have died flashed on the stage behind them. The segment opened with a tribute to the late Russian political activist Alexei Navalny, who died last month in prison in controversial circumstances.
“You’re not allowed to give up,” Navalny says in a clip from the film Navalny, which won best documentary feature at the 2023 Academy Awards. “If they decide to kill me, it means we are incredibly strong.”
The segment also featured brief photo tributes to the likes of Matthew Perry,...

Andrea Bocelli performed a rendition of the song “Time to Say Goodbye” with his son Matteo Bocelli to accompany the Academy’s annual obituary section. Perhaps mindful of previous years, in which eagle-eyed viewers have jumped on omissions, this year’s “In Memoriam” — which began with footage of the recently deceased Russian opposition leader and subject of last year’s winning documentary Navalny — seemed comprehensive but at the same time not enough.

Part of every awards show is the In Memoriam segment, which honors those who have died in the past year. And that also means that part of every awards show is taking note of who didn’t make the cut (as happens every time). The 2024 Oscars are no exception. Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo performed “Time to Say Goodbye” for the 2024 Oscars In Memoriam segment. Among the names part of the segment—at the end, the broadcast directed viewers to a website for the “many other legends we lost”—were: Michael Gambon, Harry Belafonte, Alan Arkin, Julian Sands, Andre Braugher, Chita Rivera, Tom Wilkinson, Glynis Johns, Jane Birkin, Paul Reubens, Piper Laurie, Richard Roundtree, Ryan O’Neal, Matthew Perry, Richard Lewis, Lee Sun-Kyun, Carl Weathers, William Friedkin, Glenda Jackson, and Tina Turner. The In Memoriam segment, which you can watch above, did end with a long list of names on...
