The iconic creator of the wrap dress – which turns 50 this year — Diane von Furstenberg early on in a new doc about her tumultuous, inspiring life, loves and career, strokes her face insisting she loves her wrinkles. “Don’t ask me how old I am. Ask me how long I’ve lived.” In a Q&a with Gayle King after the world premiere of Diane von Furstenberg: Woman In Charge, she had a change of heart.
“I look like sh-t. I mean I say I said I like wrinkles, but I hadn’t seen I had so many,” she said.
“But I like what you said …. because you said you said aging is living,” King protested.
“I know, I like what I said too.”
At 76, Dvf, also early on in the film, hops nimbly onto the edge of her sink and balances there cross-legged facing the mirror to apply her makeup.

The engaging Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge begins with a clip from David Letterman’s late-night show, where he introduces the designer with, “Welcome the woman who reinvented the dress.” He laughs and says, “Really? Reinvented the dress?” But that big claim isn’t entirely wrong. In the 1970s, von Furstenberg’s wrap dress was more than a trendsetter. Like the person who emerges in this largely first-person documentary, the dress became emblematic of a professional but sexy independent woman.
That much is history, retold by von Furstenberg in the film with wit and flair. The documentary’s strength, though, is its intimate look at her entire whirlwind life. The child of a Holocaust survivor, she became a jet-setter, a business tycoon and a philanthropist. She married a prince and then a mogul without ever losing her own identity.

Less than two years after tying the knot in a storybook wedding at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a decision that would change their lives when they decided to step down from their royal duties.
The duke and duchess moved to America and publicly discussed their experience as working royals. Meghan, who was not brought up in the royal world like her husband, explained in her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey that she had a particularly tough time adjusting to life as a working member of Britain’s most famous family.
A commentator believes that’s very true and says it’s because Meghan wanted two things that the royals wouldn’t give her.

Who is the best female TV star of all time? Our new photo gallery above takes on the tough task of ranking the 30 greatest actresses and performers. Agree or disagree with our choices?
With over 70 years of television to consider, we had to provide ourselves with a few rules to help simplify things. One of those was that every woman in our gallery must have been an ongoing leading lady at some point, preferably more often than not. That’s why you will not see such classic supporting actresses as Vivian Vance, Doris Roberts or Rhea Perlman.
In order to place them in the rankings, we were looking at a combination of quality (top rated shows with the public or critics), quantity (number of shows and TV appearances), Emmy wins and nominations, plus overall legacy and iconic nature. They also needed to be on television regularly for at least the last 15 years or more.

Tribeca Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal doesn’t follow a North Star as she and her team sift through tens of thousands of submissions each year. But as they whittle down those applicants to the 100 or so films comprising the final lineup, themes tend to emerge.
“It’s not like we set out to say, ‘This is what we want to do.’ As an activist film festival, we always look for [political] films,” says Rosenthal, who created Tribeca Festival with Robert De Niro in the wake of 9/11. “This year, there’s a mental health narrative. I don’t know if that’s a post-covid thing.”
Tribeca, now in its 23rd year, will take place from June 5-16 and highlight films led by Kristen Stewart, Lily Gladstone and Jenna Ortega. “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge,” a look at the fashion icon and entrepreneur, will open the festival, with anticipated documentaries about Prince,...

It’s been more than four years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their roles within the royal family. And while many hoped that time would heal their wounds, it hasn’t. The claims the couple made about the royals during their televised interview with Oprah Winfrey, in their Netflix docuseries, and in Harry’s memoir Spare haven’t helped relations either.
Now, the Sussexes are trying to change their strategy. But people have questioned if they went too far and caused too much damage to even repair their own images. At least one royal commentator thinks so.

“How could you?” That’s the question some of the people closest to Prince Harry asked following his and Meghan Markle’s tell-all 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview. The Duke of Sussex shared how he’d responded in his Spare memoir.
Harry’s family friends and a former nanny asked about the Oprah interview
In Spare, Harry revisited the Oprah interview, writing how he’d fielded questions about it from not only some close friends of his but also friends of the royal family.
They included one of Hugh and Emilie van Cutsem’s four sons—elsewhere in the book, Harry recalled how he and Prince William would often spend time with the family on school breaks—and Tiggy Pettifer, he and the now-Prince of Wales’ “favorite” nanny growing up.

Prince Harry and Prince William were never the best of friends, but they were always brothers who loved and cared for each other. However, things changed back in 2018 after Harry married American actor Meghan Markle. Things between Harry and William have not improved since.
Though the public has heard of alleged peace talks between the brothers, sources claim that those conversations started as early as 2019. But the most interesting part might not be that the peace talks started five years ago, but rather that it was Prince William who made the first move. Since then, the brothers have reportedly tried multiple times to have such conversations but have been unsuccessful.

“I felt privileged and honored for the opportunity to even translate history in such a way, and I rolled my sleeves up, dove into the research and the creating began,” says “Genius: MLK/X” hair department head Jessi Dean. She and her team created over 75 wigs for National Geographic’s limited series chronicling the lives of civil rights pioneers Martin Luther King Jr. (played by Kelvin Harrison Jr.) and Malcolm X (played by Aaron Pierre). Watch our video interview with Dean above.
Dean was focused on making sure each character’s looks were historically accurate. “So Malcolm, his hair was chemically processed before he went into jail, and so understanding the rate of hair growth, just trying to capture that contrast of texture of his natural hair versus the chemically processed hair, I had to create that with product to revert the wig and give texture differences that way,” she explains.

Steven Spielberg’s 1985 classic that took home 11 Oscar nominations is by no means a feat of mere auteurist filmmaking but one showing exceptional skill and brilliance. Behind the camera, there is none other than Spielberg, even though his inspiration might often come from borrowed sources. As such, the adaptation of Alice Walkerʼs Pulitzer Prize-winning 1982 novel, The Color Purple, couldnʼt have been in better hands than the surgically gifted ones of the venerated director.

After much deliberation and struggle, the musical drama produced by Spielberg and Oprah made it onto the screens in 2023 to widespread acclaim. However, the story behind its production is an award-worthy tale in itself.

It’s been 10 years since David Oyelowo made his U.S. breakthrough portraying Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in “Selma.” Playing the awe-inspiring civil rights leader was an opportunity for the British-Nigerian actor to live up to his surname, which translates to “a king deserves respect.”
Oyelowo has been reflecting on that time in his life a lot more lately, thanks in part to “Becoming King,” a documentary directed by his wife, Jessica Oyelowo, that captures the seven-year journey to bring “Selma” to the big screen.
“It was a big year,” he says of 2014. “There was no way you could know the sheer amount of things that would happen, because at the beginning of it, nothing was happening. ‘Selma’ felt dead. I was in the middle of shooting ‘A Most Violent Year,’ having a good time with that, but just feeling in a state of limbo and then—”

It does not take a lot for Steven Spielberg to shine. His exceptional filmography speaks volumes on its own. The talent imbibed in one soul is enough to account for a great amount of masterpieces in the Hollywood industry. It takes understanding and skill to create stories the way he does. He has worked on various adaptations and mastered almost all of them perfectly.

One of the adaptations he made was of Alice Walker’s renowned novel The Color Purple. While the movie found great critical acclaim, having been nominated for 11 Oscars, there was a certain set of audience that wasn’t too fond of the adaptation. Walker’s novel told stories of a woman who was in pain of different kinds. She spoke for many people all at once, in a way similar to Maya Angelou.

Nathalie Emmanuel’s first trip to the Cannes Film Festival was certainly a memorable one.
The “Fast and Furious” franchise star and “Game of Thrones” alum knows what it’s like to be in the spotlight, but Cannes is unique. First, consider the fact that she’s the leading lady in legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola’s longtime passion project “Megalopolis,” which made its world premiere at the festival. Then, there’s the reality of ascending the famed red steps to the Palais des Festivals.
“This whole experience has been like nothing I’ve ever had before,” Emmanuel told Variety the next day. “That moment was so much bigger and so much grander — I just had no concept of how crazy it would be, how exciting it would be, how many people there would be. … It was quite overwhelming, but really exciting and felt like a real celebration.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have concluded their three-day tour of Nigeria to champion Invictus Games and are now back in the US.
With everything that’s been going on with the couple – via the launch of American Riviera Orchard, Harry’s Netflix Polo docuseries and Meghan’s cooking show – experts are beginning to question their relevancy in the US.
Who’s interested to see a Prince play Polo or watch a Duchess cook?

Oprah Winfrey said that she owns the “major role” she played in modern diet culture, saying she has taken time to process her own shame and now wants to support her audience in their own shift toward healthier mindsets.
“I wanted to gather all of us together because I believe that we have reached a pivotal moment in the way we talk about and the way we think about our bodies,” Winfrey told her in-person and virtual audience during Thursday’s Weight Watcher YouTube live special.

Following their decision to step down from their roles within the royal family, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, moved to America.
They initially stayed at a waterfront property in Canada’s Vancouver Island before relocating to the States in Meghan’s hometown of Los Angeles. The duke and duchess resided in Beverly Hills at Tyler Perry’s mansion for a while but then moved again and eventually settled in the town of Montecito in Santa Barbara County. They now live in an 18,000-square-foot mansion nicknamed “The Chateau.” The home sits on five acres of land and has both ocean and mountain views. It boasts 16 bathrooms, nine bedrooms, and a separate guest house with two more bedrooms and bathrooms. There’s also a library, a sauna, a wine cellar, a game room, a gym, tennis courts, and an arcade.

Tyler Perry has conquered the entertainment world — the creative force between two dozen films, 17 television shows, bestselling books and 20 stage plays. He built a thriving studio complex in Atlanta, and just today Deadline reported he has signed a first-look deal with Netflix to produce faith-based films alongside DeVon Franklin.
It’s been a long and improbable journey to the top of his profession, a tale told in the Emmy-contending documentary Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story. Gelila Bekele (Perry’s former life partner) and Armani Ortiz directed the Amazon MGM Studios film, with the first footage shot a decade ago.
“I saw this man becoming busier than ever and I had the privilege of having a front-row seat and I wanted to just document it for archive,” Bekele explained during an appearance at the Deadline Studio at Prime Experience in Hollywood. “I realized there’s a huge chunk of missing history,...
