The Last Of Us Season 2 is in the works. Here’s all the juicy details we know about it so far, including what to expect from the upcoming season when it premieres.
The Last Of Us Season 1 Was A Huge Hit
Post-apocalyptic shows can often be a hit or miss with audiences. Particularly in the last ten to twenty years, the genre has been done and overdone. Franchises like The Walking Dead come to mind. While it started out strong, between the original and all of the spinoffs, watchers tend to have viewing fatigue.
That was not the case with the HBO Max adaptation of The Last Of Us. Season 1 on the platform was a huge hit. Actor Nick Offerman even took home his first Emmy award for his gripping performance in Season 1, Episode 3, Long, Long Time.

“Civil War,” Alex Garland’s film about journalists navigating a fractured United States, has set a digital release date.
The A24 film, which inspired plenty of critical debate, is set to debut on VOD on May 24. It will be available to rent/purchase on both Prime Video and Apple TV+.
Starring Kirsten Dunst, Cailee Spaeny, Wagner Moura, Stephen McKinley Henderson and Nick Offerman, the film set an A24 record with a $25 million opening weekend.
When speaking with Variety in a cover story about the film, Dunst said the work is intentionally meant to spark debate.
“The whole movie is open to interpretation,” Dunst said. “For me, there were things I just accepted that were unexplained. It allows the audience to fill in their own feelings about what they’re watching.”
Garland agreed it was best for him not to connect too many dots.
“I have my own answers to these questions.

Henry Kissinger may have only died in November, but the controversial politician is already set to get the satirical comedy treatment.
Tim Roth, Robin Wright, Mary-Louise Parker, Lucy Hale, David Cross, Jimmy O. Yang, Rob Corddry and Dylan Penn are in talks to star in the feature film “Kissinger Takes Paris,” set during Kissinger’s younger, pre-Vietnam War years.
Roth (“The Hateful Eight,” “Sundown”) will star as Kissinger, while Jeff Stanzler will direct from his screenplay, and Claude Dal Farra and Brian Keady of Bcdf Pictures (“To Leslie”) are producing along with Stanzler. CAA Media Finance and Concourse Media are co-representing domestic rights, and Concourse is handling international rights, with sales launching at Cannes.
The film — likened to political satires such as “Don’t Look Up” and “Wag the Dog” — is set to tell the (mostly) true story of when Kissinger, described as “a middle-aged, politically washed-up Harvard professor,” traveled to...

Ed Harris — recently seen starring alongside Kristen Stewart in “Love Lies Bleeding” — is getting back behind the camera to direct his own adaptation of Kim Zupan’s acclaimed novel “The Ploughmen.” Owen Teague, currently playing the lead in “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” Nick Nolte and Bill Murray have come on board to star in the neo-noir crime thriller, which will go into production in Montana this Fall. Amy Madigan and Lily Harris are also set for the film.
“The Ploughmen” will mark Harris’ third feature as director after his Western “Appaloosa” and multi-Oscar nominated “Pollock.” Described being in the vein of “Hell or High Water” and “Wind River,” the film is set in the wilderness of Montana, where a strange friendship develops between a haunted young deputy sheriff and a notorious old murderer. John Gload (Nolte) is a killer so adept at his job that only now has he been apprehended.

Comedian and actor Nick Offerman kicked off his Thursday night show at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre with a cheeky song about he was going to “keep it PG-13” for the night. While the sentiment didn’t last too long, the songs sure did.
The show, titled Nick Offerman and Friends vs Climate Crisis, was part of the Netflix is a Joke Fest that has taken over Los Angeles for the last week, and was put on in support of environmental non-profit Natural Resources Defense Council (Nrdc).
A known outdoorsman, Offerman told the crowd he was a “huge fan” of the organization before jumping into his opening song, but not before offering the non-profit a quick suggestion for what the night’s funds should be used towards. “I want to hope they’ll use some of the proceeds from tonight to think tank a flashier name,” Offerman joked with audience.

Eric Schultz knows his way around politics. The Washington, D.C. consultant served as deputy White House press secretary during the Obama Administration from 2014-2017. He’s also worked for Sen. Charles Schumer and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
But in the last few years, he’s been getting very familiar with Hollywood, consulting for shows like “Succession” and most recently Alex Garland’s A24 drama “Civil War.”
But now, he’s going in front of the camera. Schultz makes his acting debut with a cameo on Thursday’s season finale of Max’s “The Girls on the Bus.” He plays a press aide who Sadie McCarthy (Melissa Benoist) must convince to let her into a VIP cocktail party at the Democratic National Convention.
“They reached out of the blue and asked me, ‘Would you like to make a cameo?’” Schultz tells me. “It took me probably a nanosecond to say yes.

The Current Debate is a column that connects the dots between great writing about a topic in the wider film conversation.Civil War.Every now and then there comes a film so in tune with our pestilential zeitgeist as to earn that most dangerous of descriptors: important. I can’t think of many words more vacuous, not only because of all the questions it leaves unanswered, but also because of the argument it peddles: that a film’s ability to sponge the mood of our times should count as an artistic merit. A film is important because it deals with important topics, or so the logic goes; it is necessary because these are things we all should care about, lessons we ought to treasure, and warnings we must heed. In this Neanderthal worldview, art is reduced to propaganda, and audiences to crowds who must be educated and pandered to. But...

Just like Friends and The Office, Parks and Recreation is a show that we keep going back to. One rewatch is never enough now, is it? While the first season received mixed reviews from critics and was often compared to The Office, the series had a brilliant comeback starting from the second season. The show stars Adam Scott, Chris Pratt, Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, and more.
A still from Parks and Recreation (2009 – 2015)
The show ended in 2015 but the cast reunited for a special reunion episode in 2020 before closing the chapter for good. But that doesn’t mean fans cannot keep holding on to that thread of hope of seeing their favorite characters return, right? In a recent interview, Adam Scott gets candid about the possibility of gathering the cast for an actual Parks and Recreation reboot.

A24’s political thriller “Civil War” is resonating not just in red states and blue but overseas, too.
Alex Garland’s film, starring Kirsten Dunst as a photojournalist who traverses a violently divided United States, has grossed $45.7 million in North America and $20 million internationally. Global ticket sales stand at $67.3 million through Monday, and it’s projected to cross $70 million on Tuesday.
“Civil War” is the first A24 movie to top the domestic box office, and it’s impressively remained the No. 1 film for two consecutive weekends. Given the fiercely U.S.-centric subject matter, it wasn’t clear the film would resonate at the international box office. But “Civil War” has managed to appeal to overseas audiences with the biggest turnout in the United Kingdom, where it has grossed $4.8 million, followed by the Netherlands, where it has grossed $750,000. Over the weekend, the film opened in first place in several smaller moviegoing markets,...

Kirsten Dunst thinks the president gunned down at the end of ‘Civil War’ is any “fascist” leader. The actress, 41, stars as photojournalist Lee in ‘Ex Machina’ creator Alex Garland’s dystopian film that takes place in a war-torn US, and she has now clarified whether the president assassinated in its finale – played by Nick Offerman – is a representation of a Donald Trump-style president. She told Variety: “It’s just a fascist president. Timothée Chalamet had a dream run at the box office, with his last two films Wonka and Dune: Part Two earning huge numbers globally. The actor has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood right now and has a slate of high-profile projects in the pipeline. His next project is the James Mangold-directed Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown.
Chalamet has reportedly decided to use his own singing voice in the biopic instead of lip-syncing to Dylan’s songs. The actor had also flexed his vocal cords in last year’s musical comedy Wonka. A statement from director Paul King about Chalamet’s singing talents might be the reason why Mangold was sure of the Call Me By Your Name star playing Bob Dylan.

Authenticity holds a lot of value in Hollywood. As much as audiences love to watch remakes, retellings, and sequels, nothing catches their attention more than something original and magnificent. The one studio that is best known for only creating content like this is A24. The perfect example of such a story would be their recently released movie, Civil War.

In the classic style of the studio, the movie features an A-list cast of actors like Kirsten Dunst, Nick Offerman, Cailee Spaeny, and Wagner Moura, but has still managed to remain, somewhat, under the radar. With its recent release, the movie has gotten nothing short of splendid reviews from audiences and critics alike, hinting at a successful future at the box office.

Nick Offerman has been winning accolades for his role as the President of the United States in his latest film, Civil War. He is a seasoned actor, and even though he made a name for himself as a comedian, Offerman is very versatile. The Parks and Recreation actor gets to flex his more creative muscles in the film.
Offerman’s journey to becoming one of the most beloved actors in the industry did not come very easily, though. He struggled for years as a theater artist before he made his big break. The actor’s misfortune even saw him spend a night in jail, long before his villainous turn as president in Civil War.

Alex Garland’s Civil War has already made its way to theatres worldwide on April 12, revolving around a team of journalists in an American society that has already fallen into distress. Alex Garland’s dystopian Civil War, about America torn asunder by a president run amok and brutal acts of war committed on ordinary citizens, sparked plenty of speculation — and assumptions — heading into its debut in theaters over the April 12-14 weekend.
Would it be a win in blue states but a losing battle in red states? Would it galvanize those Trumpians eager to view the sort of imagery witnessed during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capital? Or would liberals assume it would be a balm for their point of view, and see them turn out in full force? After all, Hollywood isn’t known for being a bastion of Republicans. Ditto for indie studio A24, which produced the film.

Is Alex Garland’s new film “apolitical”, or does it just take politics seriously? We take a look at the debate surrounding Civil War.
“Some are already calling it the greatest victory in the history of military campaigns”.
According to the actor that plays him, the unnamed President who opens Alex Garland’s Civil War with a TV address isn’t based on anyone in particular.
“Honestly, [the Trump comparison] didn’t even come up”, Nick Offerman somewhat implausibly told the Hollywood Reporter on a red carpet this month.
“It would be so easy to make this movie and lay in some easter eggs… but you would lose half your audience one way or another”.

Kirsten Dunst’s Civil War featured her husband Jesse Plemons in one of the most disturbing scenes in the film. Fans were terrified yet impressed by Plemons’ chilling performance, but director Alex Garland shared that the scene was meant for another actor. When the original actor became unavailable a few days before the shoot, it was Dunst who suggested Plemons for the role. Nick Offerman plays the role of the President of the United States in Alex Garland’s latest dystopian war film, Civil War. He does a fantastic job of bringing out the character of a directorial president who is currently in his third term. While the film has been receiving positive feedback from critics, fans are finding it difficult to wrap their heads around the lack of political discussion in the film.
A still from Alex Garland’s Civil War
This is simply because Civil War revolves around such a political topic which makes the absence of any real conversation about the same a little unrealistic. However, this is exactly what Nick Offerman loves about the film, and states that it is his absolute favorite thing in the entire movie.

‘Civil War’ director Alex Garland thinks the movie's critics are "missing the point".The 53-year-old filmmaker's dystopian flick follows journalists - played by Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura and Cailee Spaeny - travelling across the United States as a Second Civil War rages in the country, which is being ruled over by a totalitarian president (Nick Offerman), and it has faced a backlash for being apolitial, but Alex just felt he didn't need to overtly "state" the ideals of the film within the plot. Speaking to Inverse, he said: “People keep saying the film is not political. I think they’re just missing the point.“It’s just not stating politics in the way they want it to be stated. I thought, it's actually not necessary because audiences ideally would make their own interpretation, ‘What threatens us? What is there around right now that might lead us to this place?’ And I leave that to them.
