Apparently (at least according to the blurb on the front cover) based on a true story, Grave Halloween is the latest movie from director Steven R. Monroe – yes he of I Spit on Your Grave 1 & 2 fame – who returns to making TV movies for the Syfy channel (I really liked Mongolian Death Worm Fyi) with this, a J-horror inspired slice of mediocrity that tries to mix American and Japanese filmic ideals, never quite meshing the two together well enough to be a complete success.

Hard to believe, but Kevin Tancharoen’s 9-part “Mortal Kombat” web series is already at episode #8, which means there is only one more to go. I get the feeling the last part is going to be less about the actual tournament, and more of a “coming together” sort of episode, which would then lead off into another web series or, if the suits at Warner Bros. likes what Tancharoen has done so far, an honest to goodness “Mortal Kombat” movie. We can only hope, right, Mk fans? With the Shirai Ryu clan murdered by the hands of Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei, Hanzo Hasashi has failed to protect his village. With his eternal soul destined to rot in the depths of hell, he is visited by a mysterious sorcerer. Will vengeance be enough to get Scorpion to enter the Mortal Kombat Tournament? Last week's episode of the Machinima exclusive web series, 'Mortal Kombat: Legacy' laid the foundation for this week's ice-laden clash between the two popular video game alumni, Scorpion (Ian Anthony Dale) and Sub Zero. (Kevan Ohtsji) You can be a spectator of the classic battle below. The episodic series comes from director, Kevin Tancharoen. He first sparked interest in the idea of a live-action 'Mortal Kombat' of sorts with his short film that hit YouTube in 2010, 'Mortal Kombat: Rebirth.' Unlike 'Rebirth' which went for a rooted-in-reality kind of vibe, 'Legacy' has been a mixture of classic mythos and modern day flare. The next episode of 'Mortal Kombat: Legacy' is sure to hit next week around the same time, either late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. Source: Machinima...

Well my peeps, we are down to only a few episodes left of Mortal Kombat: Legacy. This week is Episode 8 - Scorpion and Subzero (Part 2) which shows us how Hanzo (Ian Anthony Dale) witnesses the destruction of his village and his family's death and how he actually becomes Scorpion through Shang Tsung's (Johnson Phan) evil manipulation. Shang Tsung pretty much uses Sub-Zero (Kevin Ohtsji) to get Scorpion to fight in the nether realm aka Mortal Kombat. Kevin Tancharoen has done a great job with this web series!

It's official: director Kevin Tancharoen is using his web series, 'Mortal Kombat: Legacy' as a way of showing off his ability to direct almost any kind of film. Last week's episode about Raiden (Ryan Robbins) was a semi-realistic and gritty take on the 'Mortal Kombat' universe similar to the director's short, 'Mortal Kombat: Rebirth.' This week, he decided to go down the foreign martial arts film route, complete with subtitles. This episode, which can be viewed below, starts off the rivalry between two characters who have always been similarly dressed, Scorpion (Ian Anthony Dale) and Sub Zero. (Kevan Ohtsji) As was the case with the first episode of two dedicated to Kitana (Sam Tjhia) and Mileena, (Jolene Tran) this first part is kind of like a disappointing first date with high expectations. Exclusive to Machinima's YouTube channel, the next episode of the Kevin Tancharoen directed...

The first episode of the web series, 'Mortal Kombat: Legacy' is set to kick off shortly on Machinima's YouTube channel. In the meantime, they've posted a brand-new trailer showing off what you can expect from the 9-part series. Check it out below. Most of the cast is there: Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion, Kevan Ohtsji as Sub Zero, Darren Shahlavi as Kano, Michael Jai White as Jax, Sam Tjhia as Kitana, Shane Warren Jones as Cyrax, and more. It's a short trailer, but it crams in about as many 'Mortal Kombat' faces as possible. Having gained a great deal of attention with his short film, 'Mortal Kombat: Rebirth,' Kevin Tancharoen is at the helm of 'Legacy.' Unlike 'Rebirth,' which spun a vastly different tale from the video games, 'Legacy' is very much rooted in the traditional 'Mortal Kombat' universe. Source: Machinima...

You just can't force some things. If you would have told someone back in 1992 that Scorpion's "get over here" would be one of the most memorable things from the 'Mortal Kombat' video game series, they may have slightly disagreed with you. It's a phrase that a person immediately associates with Scorpion's fear of not making long-lasting friendships. Director of the upcoming web series, 'Mortal Kombat: Legacy,' Kevin Tancharoen released a new image (see below) and you guessed it, the image makes you want to dress up in a Halloween costume, toss a kunai at someone and yell "get over here" at the top of your lungs. In the web series, Ian Anthony Dale plays the character. Unlike the previously released image of Sub Zero, (Kevan Ohtsji) Scorpion's costume looks extremely faithful to the original games. The mask is a little strange and appears to have a mustache,...

What is Movie News After Dark? If you have to ask, then you can’t afford to miss it. I’ll admit it, I’m excited about Mortal Kombat Legacy, the web series from Kevin Tancharoen, who put together that excellent Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short film not too long ago. It looks like a solid take on a franchise that is always towing the line between badass and sillidiculous. And the first look at Sub-Zero, as played by Kevan Ohtsji, leans toward the former. The web series premieres April 12 on Machinima’s YouTube Channel. Tough young gal Hailee Steinfeld, who jump-started her career towering alongside Jeff Bridges in True Grit, is in talks for an indie rebirth of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. She would play the titular lady in the $15 million dollar production. If this works out, she could end up starring as Juliet and Sleeping Beauty in the same year. No...

Mortal Kombat fans rejoice! Get your first look at the new Sub Zero from director Kevin Tancharoen’s web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy that was just picked up by Machimina.com and produced by Warner Brother Digital. Yesterday we unveiled the first clip of the film and news of its pick up, so it has been a good week for the franchise as it gets its budding restart.
Kevan Ohtsji portrays the iconic Lin Kuei warrior and there’s no denying that the Sub-Zero design should please both fans of the original game mythology as well as Tancharoen’sMortal Kombat: Rebirth shortfilm.
Tancharoen plans to establish based on his Rebirth trailer, a series that combines gritty realism with fantasy elements required to properly service a multi-realm fantasy story that features mutants, damned souls, and elder Gods. I say he has done it and this is just another teaser as to what we have in store.

The man who directed the short film, 'Mortal Kombat: Rebirth,' Kevin Tancharoen has released the first image of Sub Zero (see below) from his upcoming web series, 'Mortal Kombat: Legacy.' Kevan Ohtsji, who has appeared in 'Dreamcatcher,' 'The Butterfly Effect' and 'Elektra,' plays the ice-wielding warrior. The image is a little dark and doesn't show off any of Sub Zero's trademark powers, but the costume design seems fitting. Tancharoen shouldn't incur too much wrath from the die-hard fans with this image. Joining Ohtsji are the likes of Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade, Michael Jai White as Jax, and Darren Shahlavi as Kano.
