Korean pop-rock group The Rose closed out their recent Coachella performance with their 2023 song “Wonder,” bringing the University of Southern California marching band out for the performance.
“It was like a dream come true in a way,” main vocalist and keyboardist Dojoon tells The Hollywood Reporter on a Zoom call from Seoul.
The Rose consists of four members — singer and guitarist Woosung, bassist Jaehyeong, drummer Hajoon and Dojoon. The quartet released their first single “Sorry” in 2017. Two years later, Dojoon, Jaehyeong and Hajoon went on hiatus to complete their mandatory military service. Woosung, who did not have to enlist, spent that time releasing solo music.
The group reunited in 2022, releasing their first full-length album Heal. “I mean Heal was the fundamental … the deep backbone of our music,” says Dojoon. The album earned the group a No. 4 spot on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart.

In 2018, the Rose made their U.S. concert debut performing for about 300 students at Northwestern University’s Korean American Students Conference. This year, on August 3 – exactly six years after the Korean indie-rock band officially launched their career with their single “Sorry” – the quartet will headline at Lollapalooza’s Bacardi stage in Chicago.
“We’re very excited about Lollapalooza,” group leader, vocalist, and guitarist Woosung says in a Zoom interview. “We were very surprised and happy that one of our biggest festival dates is on our anniversary. All of this is very thrilling.

Since 2016, though, he’s been testing his artistic boundaries with releases under the name Agust D — “Suga” spelled backward, with the letters “D” and “T” added to honor his birthplace of Daegu, South Korea. On these tracks, he muses on the modern age and flaunts his appreciation of pop and hip-hop from the past.

The streamer announced Wednesday that the Always Be My Maybe and Tuca & Bertie star will lead the voice cast of Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld, a new supernatural action series from first-time showrunner Echo Wu. Lucy Liu, Bowen Yang, Jimmy O. Yang, Lori Tan Chinn, Sheng Wang and Woosung Kim are set to voice star.
Wong will voice Chinese-American teen Jentry Chau who, while living in a small Texas town, discovers a demon king is hunting her for the very same powers she’s worked to repress her entire life. But she’ll get a little help from her weapons-expert great aunt and a millennia-old jiangshi, also known as a Chinese hopping vampire.
