Chris Hemsworth has been in the superhero genre for as long as one can remember, thanks to the iconic role of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that he first donned back in 2011 for his titular movie. And he has been incredibly loyal to it, for one, considering how even a movie like Thor: Love and Thunder didn’t lead him to lash out at the MCU.

But while he is humble enough to act that way, multiple other actors from Marvel are not quite the same, and this fact greatly bothers the Extraction star. That being said, Hemsworth has a serious message to give to all of those other actors who went ahead to trash the saga after things went wrong with their superhero movies.

Actor Idris Elba has had to do some very intense scenes portraying detective John Luther on his titular show Luther. But there was one scene in the series so extreme that it even disturbed fans of the show.

Elba’s John Luther spends most of his time tracking down and detaining disturbed criminals. Because of this, the series has featured some pretty frightening characters over the years. The third season of Luther opened up with a harrowing situation involving an intruder, their hostage, and a bed. And it was a moment that left many viewers shaken. Speaking with BBC Newsbeat, the Beast star asserted that even he found the episode scary.

Paramount+ got a record-setting opening from its Sonic the Hedgehog-adjacent series Knuckles.
The six-episode series, featuring Idris Elba voicing the title character and also starring Adam Pally, amassed 4 million hours of viewing worldwide over its first three days of release — a record for a Paramount+ original series, the streamer says. (Paramount+’s announcement also marks a rare instance of publicly disclosing any viewing data for its programming.) Paramount+ has 71 million subscribers, parent company Paramount Global said in its first quarter earnings report.
With a running time of 169 minutes across all six episodes, Knuckles‘ 4 million hours of viewing equates to about 1.42 million complete showings (or “views,” in the widely accepted definition of the term for streaming shows) of the series in the opening weekend. Sonic the Hedgehog is quite the asset for Paramount+.

Idris Elba is a multifaceted personality who has dabbled in acting, music, and kickboxing. Elba is primarily known for his onscreen charisma but his kickboxing skills often go under the radar. The 2018 People Magazine’s Sexist Man Alive hasn’t had a prominent professional boxing career but his skills were enough to catch the eye of podcaster Joe Rogan.
Idris Elba was named People Magazine’s Sexist Man Alive in 2018.
During an episode of his podcast, Rogan spoke very highly of Elba’s kickboxing prowess and also detailed the grueling training the actor underwent to learn martial arts. Buddy comedies don’t get much stranger or sillier than Knuckles, Paramount+‘s terrifically fun expansion of the Sonic the Hedgehog film universe. In the six-part event, world-traveling style icon and Happy Endings icon Adam Pally reprises his role as Wade Whipple from the films, along with Idris Elba, who returns as the voice of Sonic’s foe-turned-ally Knuckles. But since Elba’s alter-ego is all CGI, it was up to Pally—once again proving his prowess as a comic leading man—to unleash his inner action star for the series. “I was so happy to do it,” he admits of the stunt work required of his character, reflexively tossing in some self-deprecation, in the video above. “A man of my normal build and size doesn’t usually get to do wire work, and so it was really thrilling to get all the resources that you imagine the Marvel people get.

Every time a movie buff hears the name of Marvel’s Ghost Rider, perhaps the first name to ring the bell must be Nicolas Cage’s, for he embodied the anti-hero the most immaculately in his own solo movie series on the character. In fact, his performance was so on-point as Johnny Blaze that many would argue that no one could embody him better than Cage.
Ghost Rider in the comics.
But Cage couldn’t have pulled off this incredible feat just like that. If anything, he went to great lengths and did whatever it required to channel his inner Blaze to give fans as remarkable a performance as he did. And these great lengths that he went to have made it more than evident that perhaps no other actor could play the anti-hero better than the 60-year-old legend.

Chris Hemsworth’s action extravaganza Extraction 2 premiered on Netflix to much praise after showcasing such breathtaking sequences as the one-take prison riot scene. Fowler announced the film’s production wrap via Twitter/X with a new photo from the set. In the image, Fowler holds a giant clapper with drawings of the threequel’s primary animated cast, including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. Elba would also be working with Winslet for the first time. Her experience with romance films would help The Wire alum adjust to a genre...

Actor Idris Elba and Empire star Taraji P. Henson collaborated for the first time in the feature No Good Deed. But it was a film that Henson joked she had to guilt Elba into doing.
Taraji P. Henson really wanted to work with Idris Elba in ‘No Good Deed’ Taraji P. Henson and Idris Elba | Johnny Nunez/WireImage
No Good Deed saw Elba playing a villain in the 2014 thriller. Henson’s character attempts to help Elba in a bind, but her generosity backfires, and Elba ends up threatening her life.
Henson was on a mission to cast Elba in the film from the very beginning, especially since she hadn’t worked with him before.
“It was always Idris, because I had never worked with him. I had just finished working with Michael Ealy on Think Like a Man, I’ve worked with Morris Chestnut, all of the names we started...

Actor Idris Elba got his breakthrough role by starring in the hit television series The Wire. But Elba was surrounded by a cast of other talented performers, with one in particular making him nervous.
Idris Elba found this actor incredible to work with Idris Elba | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Although Elba looked back at his time on The Wire fondly, he confided that he never revisited the show. This was partially due to the fact that, similar to many actors, Elba wasn’t keen on watching his own performances.
“In truth, to this day, I’ve never really watched The Wire,” Elba once told Sports Illustrated. “I haven’t seen it–I’m not very good at watching myself. But I’m always really touched when people talk about the performance and, essentially, the whole show.”
However, he wouldn’t have minded rewatching The Wire for the sake of one actor’s performance.

Taylor-Johnson has been one of the frontrunners for the role, and his name has often been mentioned alongside Cavill’s and Elba’s, as the three of them were the three most-often named candidates. Now, we...

I honestly never expected that a Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe would be a thing, but here we are. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 kicked off production last year, and James Marsden recently spoke with The Playlist and confirmed that filming has just wrapped.
“Yeah, we just wrapped, actually!” Marsden said. “I feel really proud of what we created, and the response from the fans, we just had to get the animation right on that first movie, but great family, all positive. Jim’s just having a ball, he’s in his inspiration zone… So it’s a joy to watch him have a good time, like really enjoying it again. It’s great, very lucky to be a part of it, and I think fans are gonna be excited about all the new characters.“

Elba did a feature that meant a lot to him with the 2015 movie Beasts of No Nation. The project saw Elba playing a military commander who adopts a young boy to be one of his child soldiers.
Right from the beginning, Elba confided that the movie was a personal project of his. His family was very familiar with the environment Beasts of No Nation took place in, so Elba almost felt obligated to do the film.
“This story is close to me because my parents come from Sierra Leone which is a country that was ravaged [by war] as you know,” Elba once told Nz Herald.

Sega and Paramount have made a Sonic The Hedgehog spin-off television series called Knuckles, here’s the trailer.
Sonic The Hedgehog is among the top selling video game franchises of all time. Launching on the Sega Mega Drive in 1991, the blue Hedgehog with super speed has graced countless video games, and after a failed attempt to make an animated film in the 1990s, he finally made a very successful leap to the big screen in 2020. Voiced by Ben Schwartz, it saw him go up against his arch nemesis Dr. Robotnik, played with maniacal relish by Jim Carrey. After being teased at the end of the first film, the 2022 sequel introduced Tails and Knuckles, voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey and Idris Elba.
News landed recently that the third film will see Carrey reprise his role, despite his previous assertion that he was retiring, with Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas,...

The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is off and running (pun intended). The third installment in the series teased the crossover of another character from the Sega game’s universe, Shadow, as the latest addition to the hedgehog family. Paramount has also now released the trailer for the Paramount+ limited series, Knuckles.

You've seen these super-powered critters save the world a time or two, but what America and the world at large really want to know is ... what do they do on their day off? Apparently, for alien heroes with a taste for battle, that involves makeshift gladiatorial arenas and a never-ending quest for vengeance. That's courtesy of the popular breakout character from "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," which featured Idris Elba's dulcet tones as the voice of Knuckles. Now, ahead of this year's release of the third "Sonic" film, everybody's favorite red echidna is getting his own spin-off series titled, fittingly enough, "Knuckles."
The much more serious-minded character was a natural choice to expand the "Sonic" universe in live-action, but Paramount threw everyone a curveball when it was announced that the "Knuckles" spinoff would take the form of a streaming series on Paramount+. But if it wasn't already clear before, it...

Soon it will be Paramount+ & Knuckles, as the streamer released the first trailer for its spinoff series of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” films on Thursday morning. “Knuckles” sees Idris Elba return to voice the eponymous grumpy echidna, introduced as Sonic’s foe-turned-friend in the second “Hedgehog” entry.
Billed as “the latest in the cinematic world of ‘Sonic the Hedgehog,'” the first look also comes with the news that the entire series — totaling six episodes — will debut simultaneously on Paramount+ in North America on April 26. Additional territories will follow on April 27, with a Japan release slated for later on this year.
Paramount Pictures and Sega of America plan to give fans an additional look at “Knuckles” during Super Bowl Lviii on Sunday, when a TV spot will debut during the game. The character of Knuckles is also set to make a “surprise appearance” during Nickelodeon’s specialized live broadcast of football’s biggest night.

“I was floored by the overwhelming audience response after Season 1,” Elba, who also serves as an executive producer on the series, said in a statement. “It’s top secret what new situation unfolds for Sam Nelson, but I can assure you we will bring the high octane back!”

Apple TV+ has booked a return flight for its drama series Hijack.
The tech behemoth’s streaming service has ordered a second season of the thriller starring and executive produced by Idris Elba. Details on the story for season two are being kept under wraps, but Elba will reprise his role as Sam Nelson — a corporate negotiator who in the first season used his skills to bring about a resolution to the hijacking of a flight on which he was a passenger.

It’s a good day for fans of Idris Elba’s nail-biting limited series “Hijack.”
Apple TV+ has confirmed that Elba is set to return as negotiator Sam Nelson in a second season of the high-octane drama, which quickly became one of the streamer’s top shows when it dropped last year.
Told almost in real-time, the series follows Nelson on a seven-hour plane ride from Dubai to London which is hijacked by terrorists. A seasoned negotiator, Nelson quickly steps in to try and diffuse the situation before anyone gets killed – but soon realizes there is more to the hijackers’ plot than first seems. Archie Panjabi, Christine Adams, Max Beesley and Ben Miles also starred.

Idris Elba launched a campaign on Monday calling on U.K. Parliament to put an end to knife violence, particularly among the youth. Called Don’t Stop Your Future, the campaign aims to amplify the “voices of marginalized communities and those most affected by knife crime,” according to its website.
Along with a message penned by Elba posted on the site, the actor and musician released a music video for a new song about the subject, titled “Knives Down,” and staged a protest in London’s Parliament Square. As pictured above, Elba stood in front of rows of neatly folded clothes as government leaders made their way into work on Monday morning, meant to represent the children who lost their lives to knife violence last year.
“It’s the first Monday back after the new year. Which means that today, both school and Parliament are in session again. But the truth is,...

On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark takes a feature-length beat to honor fringe cinema in the streaming age.
First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.
The Pitch: Then All the Cavemen (and Founding Fathers) Loved Him
The magic of a good Christmas is an unparalleled childhood experience, but it always ends with the anticlimactic holiday hangover that is New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The final day of the year and the first day of the new one can be plenty of fun for adults, as they revolve around a paradoxical combination of socially sanctioned binge drinking and a renewed focus on fitness and career goals. But since one of those things is off...
