Get ready for more Gladiators.
Range Sports has signed American Gladiators creator Johnny Ferraro for representation, with plans to revitalize the reality competition franchise.
Range plans to work with Ferraro and his partners “on the development of the American Gladiators IP across TV, film, attractions, merchandise and live events.” Ferraro and Range “are in active development on multiple projects” to bring the American Gladiators brand to new audiences.
“American Gladiators is an iconic brand, and we couldn’t be more excited to work with Johnny to accelerate its growth and expansion across sports, culture and entertainment,” said Will Funk and Greg Luckman, co-presidents of Range Sports, in a statement.
The original series, which ran in syndication from 1989-96, saw contestants face off against elite “gladiators” in made-for-tv competitions. It was revived in 2008 as a primetime show for NBC, and earlier this year it was rebooted by the BBC, earning a quick second series pickup.

Range Media, the management and production company that’s quickly establishing a foothold in Hollywood, is expanding its sports division.
Range, led by CEO Pete Micelli, said Monday that it has acquired veteran agent Lowell Taub’s boutique sports company Stoked Management Group. Taub will join Range as chief revenue officer and head of athlete marketing for the sports unit. All five employees of Stoked are moving over to the Santa Monica-based company.
Taub launched Stoked Management nearly at the same time that former CAA, UTA and WME agents decamped to found Range in 2020 during the pandemic when production was shut down in Hollywood. Stoked touts a roster of Olympic stars and pro athletes in action sports, including surfer John Florence, Peloton instructor Kendall Toole and track athlete Gabrielle Thomas, who will move over to Range.
“Lowell is a uniquely talented leader with an impeccable reputation,” stated Range Sports co-presidents Will Funk and Greg Luckman.

Veteran sports host Jim Rome has signed with Range Sports for representation in all areas.
Range Sports is the athletics-focused division established by startup management-production firm Range Media Partners. Rome, who has long forged his own path in sports media, aims to expand his production activity in radio, TV, podcasting and film.
Rome has been a prominent voice in the sports for more than 25 years. He was part of the on-air launch team for ESPN2 in 1993. He built a loyal following for his blunt and pugnacious style of commentary and questioning as host of daily talk show “Jim Rome is Burning” on ESPN from 2003 to early 2012, and as host of the syndicated radio program “The Jim Rome Show” since 1996.

Marking her third Dn appearance, Director Meredith Hama-Brown finds parallels between grief and otherworldly encounters in her latest music video for Loscil’s Sol. Hama-Brown reflects the rhythmic pulse of Loscil’s song with a combination of powerful, lucid 35mm cinematography and warm, retro-looking VFX as she weaves together the story of a woman (played by Mari Yamamoto) who in the wake of losing her partner has a mysterious alien encounter in her backyard. By combining these two profound and transformative experiences, she is able to draw an astute philosophical observation on what it means to face the mysteries of life. Dn caught up with Hama-Brown for the premiere of Sol and to talk over its creation, how she embraced light and lasers to construct a version of a UFO that hadn’t been seen on screen before, and the practicality of incorporating Wong Kar-Wai and Christopher Doyle’s signature visual effect.
