There is so much going on in the world right now, Jimmy Fallon told his “Tonight Show” audience Friday night, that it was only appropriate for the late night host to put together a “news mash” of four big stories from the week: Trump’s ongoing hush money trial, the Knicks making it to the NBA playoffs, the newest season of “Bridgerton” being released, and Welch’s newest offering, a boozy canned juice that’s definitely not meant for kids.
“First up, the Trump trial has been going on for weeks,” Fallon began. “It all started when he had a one-night stand with Stormy Daniels.”
“Speaking of rich people having one-night stands, ‘Bridgerton’ is back,” he continued. “New episodes just dropped on Netflix. It’s about a bunch of ladies and lords looking to score. You know who else is looking to score? Everyone in the NBA playoffs.”

Greta Gerwig is making history one after another! Having broken several records with Barbie, including the biggest opening weekend for a female-directed film, Greta Gerwig becomes the first American female director to serve as jury president at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
Not only that, but at 40, she became the youngest person to take on the role since Sofia Loren, who was 31 in 1966.
As the head of this year’s competition jury, it is only fitting that Greta Gerwig puts her best fashion foot forward on the red carpet, choosing to wear stunning designer ensembles from Armani, Saint Laurent, and Maison Margiela.

Florence Welch is giving fans a brief glimpse into what recording “Florida!!!” with Taylor Swift for The Tortured Poets Department was like.
The Florence & the Machine frontwoman sat down with British Vogue to discuss what she does in her downtime between tours and recording, as well as her BBC Proms debut this summer. While chatting with the publication, the musician also opened up about working with Swift on her 11th album, which was released April 19.
When asked if she was prepared for the internet discourse that followed Tortured Poets when it was released, Welch admitted she wasn’t quite ready.
“I almost didn’t think of the scale of it,” she told Vogue. “There’s the sort of bigness of [Taylor Swift the phenomenon], and then there’s the Taylor I spend time with in the studio, who is just the sweetest and most down to earth.”

Florence + The Machine have announced a special performance of their debut album, Lungs, in celebration of its 15th anniversary. Entitled “Symphony of Lungs,” the concert is set to go down on September 11th at the Royal Albert Hall in London as part of the BBC Proms classical music festival. It will be aired live on BBC Radio 3.
The concert will see Florence Welch perform the album in full with backing from Jules Buckley and his Orchestra. In addition to its live airing, the performance will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 1, BBC Two, and BBC iPlayer.
“This album was such a patchwork of a period of time of my messy teenage years and early twenties,” Welch said of the upcoming anniversary show in a press release. “I had no idea what I was doing or where it would go, and a lot of the songs are simply an exhalation of joy.

More than 250 recording artists have signed a letter to the Senate Committee on Commerce in support of a bill advocating for ticket sale transparency and consumer protections against bots.
Billie Eilish, Dave Matthews, Cyndi Lauper, Lorde, Sia, Train, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Graham Nash, Becky G, and Chappell Roan are among the prominent signees urging Congress to pass the Fans First Act (S. 3457). The bill, introduced by Senators Cornyn, Klobuchar, Blackburn, Welch, Wicker, and Lujan, and the bipartisan Ticket Act (H.R. 3950), sponsored by Reps. Bilirakis, Schakowsky, and Armstrong, which passed out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, address the live event ticketing system. Emma Stone helped good pal Taylor Swift with a song on her new album, The Tortured Poets Department. In the official credits for “Florida!!!,” the Oscar-winning actress is listed as contributing “oddities.”
It’s not entirely clear what Stone’s “oddities” entail, but she received a production credit on the song alongside Florence Welch and Jack Antonoff. “Florida!!!” was co-written by Swift with Welch (of Florence + The Machine), who also sings and plays piano and percussion on the song. Jack Antonoff produced the track, and also played guitar, cello, bass, synthesizer, piano, and drums.

A group of Democratic lawmakers is proposing new legislation that would provide $1 billion annually to the nonprofit professional theater industry still struggling to recover from the Covid pandemic.
The bill, called the Supporting Theater and the Arts to Galvanize the Economy (Stage) Act of 2024, has been introduced in Congress by Peter Welch (D-Vt.), John Fetterman (D-Pa.), Jack Reed (D-r.I.) & Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (Or-01). The Stage Act proposes that the government provide $1 billion annually for five years in grants administered through the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration.
The money would be used to assist theaters in “keeping their doors open.”
The proposed legislation, spearheaded by Welch, is expected to be introduced today, though the bill will face an uphill battle in a divided Congress.
A description of the legislation – read it here – indicates that despite “the extensive economic contributions, this critical artform is struggling to survive in a post-pandemic world.

The long-gestating sci-fi remake of Fantastic Voyage, which could pair James Cameron with Guillermo del Toro, is still on the cards, according to the Avatar director.
According to James Cameron, his long-gestating remake of Fantastic Voyage is still happening. That in itself is newsworthy given how long Cameron has been talking about this project. The filmmaker wrote a screenplay for the film decades ago, but in the wake of Titanic's success in 1997, he became transfixed with realising the alien world of Pandora onscreen and with the exception of a couple of documentary films, has only released two Avatar films in the quarter century since.
As far as Fantastic Voyage goes, Cameron’s plan has long been to produce the film, with Gullermo del Toro being the man to direct it. We’ve seen Cameron ‘godfather’ films before while working on the never-ending production of the Avatar films, not least...

Not long ago, Lizzie No had an out-of-body experience while listening to Gillian Welch. The singer-songwriter had spent the past few years trying to make sense of the fractured, frighteningly personal songs she’d been writing, songs that spoke to a pain whose source she couldn’t always name. Many of them ended up on Halfsies, the stunning new record that the songwriter says is, in large part, about the “sensation of living in the scar without having any understanding of the initial wound.”
Which brings No (real name Lizzie Quinlan) to Gillian Welch.

Sometimes, when actors find themselves the focus of a particularly passionate fandom, they reject it. Look at Harrison Ford constantly playing down the importance of "Star Wars" or Robert Pattinson and his open disdain for the "Twilight" series. Which is why it's nice when an actor shares in fans' joy for a particularly beloved performance. Case in point: Danny DeVito and his role as Penguin in "Batman Returns."
Tim Burton's 1992 expressionist masterpiece remains the best Batman movie ever made, and DeVito is a big part of that legacy. The "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" star delivered a stunningly committed performance as Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin, managing to make the deformed "penguin man of the sewers" so wretchedly evil and yet, at times, sympathetic. The abandoned son of a well-to-do couple commits some truly heinous acts throughout "Returns" and yet you still feel a pang of sadness for the old boy.

Florence + The Machine are back with their rendition of “White Cliffs of Dover,” the first single from Jack Antonoff’s official soundtrack for the forthcoming Apple TV+ series The New Look.
The New Look centers around Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn), Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche), and their contemporaries as they navigate the fashion industry in a post-World War II climate. And so it makes sense for Florence Welch and company to put their own spin on “White Cliffs of Dover,” a 1941 song made famous by Vera Lynn to boost morale amid a war-torn Britain.
Produced by Antonoff, The New Look soundtrack comprises mid-twentieth century songs covered by contemporary artists including Lana Del Rey, The 1975, Nick Cave, Beabadoobee, and, of course, Antonoff’s Bleachers. See the full tracklist and stream Florence + The Machine’s version of “White Cliffs of Dover” below.

Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch has announced his partnership in the opening of Atlantic Behavioral Health, a mental health treatment center serving Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The endeavor continues Welch’s mission of aiding in the support of physical and mental health, having previously opened a chain of Zivel wellness spas inspired by the therapeutic needs of recovering touring musicians.
According to a press release, Atlantic Behavioral Health “combines individual therapy, group therapy, and medication management in a supportive outpatient program.” The center is located in Wilmington, Massachusetts.
Welch, who has been open about his battles with mental health and addiction over the years, offered the following statement:
“I will never, ever forget the depths of the dark energy that lived upstairs in my mind, many years ago. It was truly like living in an emotional dungeon with zero light, and I couldn’t find the key to get out.

The Great Gatsby musical, the highest grossing show in Off-Broadway theater Paper Mill Playhouse’s history, will be coming to Broadway this spring.
The musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s acclaimed novel will debut at The Broadway Theatre on April 25, the show’s lead producer Chunsoo Shin announced on Tuesday. Directed by Marc Bruni, Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada are set to reprise their Off-Broadway roles as Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan, with previews beginning March 29.
“I am passionate about producing this show because it provides a modern audience with the true essence of idealism that is expressed eloquently in the novel and now on stage,” said Shin in a statement. “The Great Gatsby is a masterpiece that grows and changes as it’s experienced by each new generation, in every culture, and people — and yet, still maintains its uniqueness, with its fascinating characters that burst with vitality.

‘Tis the season of abundance! Celebrate more being more with director Jenn Wexler’s “The Sacrifice Game,” a campy new Shudder release that imagines what would happen if the cast of “The Holdovers” got a Christmas visit from the Manson Family at an all-girls boarding school with a witchy secret.
Co-written by Wexler and Sean Redlitz, this grab-bag seasonal period flick — shot in snowy Canada and set in 1971 — is more gruesome than scary and takes a handful of decidedly silly turns. Be it fruit cake, stuffed stocking, whatever your holiday metaphor, the fantasy horror adventure of students Samantha (Madison Baines) and Clara (Georgia Acken) gifts audiences steadily stranger fun almost all the way through. It’s a genre blend that’s delightful, baffling, and surprisingly ruthless in its decisive direction with a holiday twist that isn’t necessary for the plot but certainly ties the zany concept together.

Revered and reviled U.S. diplomat Henry Kissinger, whose death at 100 on Nov. 29 was met with the widespread view that his realpolitik was responsible for some of this country’s worst global war crimes, loved American celebrity — both his own, an expression of state power, as well as that of others, especially performers. He was “the ultimate starfucker,” noted Daniel Drezner, professor of international politics at the Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, in an appraisal published earlier this year on the occasion of Kissinger’s centennial.
Prior to meeting President Richard Nixon in 1967, Kissinger made frequent trips to Santa Monica to consult with the Rand Corporation, a global policy think tank. But after being appointed as national security adviser by the newly elected president in 1969, his profile skyrocketed — and the glitz of Hollywood was within reach. It’s barely been a week since the end of historic 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, and Los Angeles has erupted with activity as movie and series publicity, awards season campaigning and general revelry has resumed.
Right at the buzzer, GQ magazine has touched down to host its annual Men of the Year celebration on Thursday night, an event that has evolved from a besuited people-watching exercise to an experimental mens fashion showcase and vital pre-Oscars schmooze.
Will Welch, the magazine’s global editorial director, says this is no coincidence.
“GQ stands for being progressive and seeing around corners. Especially after last year, when our feedback was that we had the must fun iteration of the party ever, we knew it was time for a change,” Welch told Variety. “In terms of cultural impact, we have an opportunity to make it bigger than ever.”

As Meghan Markle and her half-sister Samantha Markle’s court case continues, it appears that the Duchess of Sussex plans on “fiercely fighting” her sibling. But a royal commentator claims that as the case evolves, “evidence” revealed “might not be flattering to the Montetico Mama” as this latest fight for Meghan takes another turn.
In the case of Markle vs. Markle, ‘evidence might not be flattering’
Samthana Markle is suing her half-sister Meghan Markle, married to Prince Harry, for libel in a Florida court. Royal commentator Kinsley Schofield weighed in on the topic for Talk TV.
“Samantha is suing Meghan for libel over comments made during her Oprah Winfrey interview and in the Netflix series Harry & Meghan,” Schofield says. “Meghan is fiercely fighting to have this case tossed, hoping that the judge will dismiss it without a trial.”
She continued, “That would save Meghan from having to record a deposition,...

R. L. Stine’s spine-chilling “Goosebumps” book series holds a great deal of nostalgia and memorable spooks for ’90s kids and beyond, including executive producers Pavun Shetty and Conor Welch, who were determined to “elevate” the beloved novels with modern stories for a new generation through the new Disney+ and Hulu series.
“Connor and I grew up on the ‘Goosebumps’ books, and now that we’re adults, kids are reading them for the first time. While we’re looking back with a sense of nostalgia, they’re getting scared for the first time,” Shetty told TheWrap ahead of the series’ Friday the 13th premiere. “We knew we wanted to do something with these iconic stories and do an elevated take on them.”
With established fans and newcomers bringing distinct perspectives on the same material, the “Goosebumps” team — led by filmmakers and creators Rob Letterman and Nicholas Stoller — aimed to harness...

Today, Disney+ and Hulu unleashed a new take on R.L. Stine's beloved "Goosebumps" book series with a TV series adaptation developed by Rob Letterman (director of the 2015 "Goosebumps" movie) and Nicholas Stoller. Trust me when I say you'll want to give this series a chance, because it takes the scares to a more mature level than we've seen in previous "Goosebumps" adaptations and injects it with a refreshing and genuine teenage perspective, both in comedy and horror.
For those who maybe haven't been keeping up, the new "Goosebumps" series follows a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle — while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents' past.

Bill Maher was off television for five months, thanks to the WGA strike. So naturally, he had a lot to catch up on in Friday’s edition of Real Time on HBO.
Maher kept the focus squarely on politics in his opening monologue and in his panel discussion, with particular emphasis on covering the immigration border crisis. The panel was composed of Matt Welch, editor-at-large of Reason Magazine, and Sarah Isgur, senior editor for the online magaine The Dispatch.
The migrants issue has mushroomed into “a national crisis,” Maher noted. Panelists Welch and Isgur talked about the fentanyl plague that’s part and parcel of the loose border enforcement. Welch indicated that the crackdown on opioids is part of the reason that fentanyl has risen in popularity, turning “into a hockey stick” of overdose charting. He later referred to it as “bathtub heroin.”

New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez is facing a rapidly growing number of calls from his Democratic colleagues to resign from office following a damning indictment on charges of corruption and bribery.
On Wednesday, Menendez pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment in Manhattan court.
The indictment, which was made public on Friday, was initially met with widespread silence from Senate Democrats, save for Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman, who on Saturday called for Menendez’s resignation. “Senator Menendez should resign,” he wrote. “He’s entitled to the presumption of innocence,...

Florence Welch and Ethel Cain shared the stage two separate times at Lisbon, Portugal’s Meo Kalorama festival on Friday, marking a formidable comeback for the Florence + the Machine frontwoman after revealing she underwent an emergency, life-saving surgery in August.
The headlining set by Florence + The Machine served as the band’s first performance since they were forced to cancel a set of live dates in August for a medical procedure that Welch said she doesn’t “really feel strong enough to go into yet.” Ahead of the group’s highly anticipated return though, Welch made a surprise appearance in the middle of Ethel Cain’s afternoon set to perform “Thoroughfare” from the latter’s 2022 debut album Preacher’s Daughter.
Ethel Cain returned the favor to Welch by delivering an impassioned duet of “Morning Elvis,” the closing track from Florence + The Machine’s 2022 LP, Dance Fever. The pair previously performed...

Elvis Presley‘s death shocked the world, only to inspire numerous writers, filmmakers, and songwriters. For example, Jimmy Buffett recorded a song about the tragedy called “Elvis Presley Blues.” The track seems to comment on Elvis’ ties to the Black community. Notably, “Elvis Presley Blues” is a standard from one of the most acclaimed albums of the 2000s.
1 Jimmy Buffett song is about Elvis Presley’s death and the folk hero John Henry
“Elvis Presley Blues” is an atypical song for Buffett to cover. The tune is a lot more morbid and disquieting than “Cheeseburger in Paradise” or “Margaritaville.” In it, Buffett recounts the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s death. He sings about Elvis’ trademark dancing, his looks, and how the singer was lonely at the top.
He also mentions folk hero John Henry. Henry was a legendary Black steel worker who was more powerful than a drilling machine.

So you’re filming a tour of your furniture store for a promotional video: Who should be the tour guide? As it turns out, Korn’s Brian “Head” Welch is not only a world-class guitar player, but a great spokesman for furniture.
Welch appeared in a new Instagram promo clip for Furniture City in his hometown of Bakersfield, California. It might seem like an unlikely pairing — Head certainly stands out amidst the rote neutral interior of a furniture store — but after watching the video, you might have the sudden urge to wander through your local outlet.
The clip opens with Welch admiring an ornate four-post bed (“This is built for a king!”) before hopping on the mattress — shoes and all — for a test lay (“You just feel like a king in this thing!”).
