Marilyn has battled depression for most of his life, and was
agoraphobic for a length of time as a teenager and again as an
adult.
Parents' names were Peter and Margaret Robinson. Father was a writer
and a yacht salesman in Jamaica when Peter was born there on November 3
1962. Marilyn and his mother returned to Britain after his parents
split up when he was 18 months old. Mother had worked for a Nottingham
England television company (c 1980s).
The 2002 stage musical by Boy George, Taboo (2003), features Marilyn and other
pop and club stars of the 1980s. The musical was a London West End
smash before transferring to Broadway in NY (produced by
Rosie O'Donnell).
Sang on Band Aid's 1984 single "Do They Know It's Christmas?".
He briefly retired from the industry until 2001, when he made a
series of successful club appearances and a greatest hits album was
released. He is still in demand for interviews and TV
appearances. (2001)
