At the close of Captain America: Civil War we got a very brief mist-covered look at T'Challa's (Chadwick Boseman) home country of Wakanda, but we still have a bit of a wait ahead of us before we get to explore his nation properly in Ryan Coogler's Black Panther. Andrew Leung, a concept-artist who has worked on Iron Man 3 and Captain America: Civil War as... Read More...

In the mid-credits scene of Captain America: Civil War, we got our first look at Black Panther‘s home nation of Wakanda. However, the scenes were shot inside a pretty futuristic building and we only got a glimpse of the outside when a massive panther statue was spotted hidden within the mist.
Now, we have some new concept art which may shed a little light on how we can expect T’Challa’s home to look when the Ryan Coogler-helmed movie is released in 2018. It’s important to note that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has said in past interviews that Wakanda was deliberately not shown because he wanted the director to come up with his own take, but it’s still highly likely that some of Andrew Leung’s designs will be taken into consideration.
That’s perfectly alright with us, too, as we...

Though we did pay a visit to Wakanda in Captain America: Civil War, we only got a very brief glimpse of a foggy jungle region as Cap and T'Challa looked out a window during the mid-credits scene. However, thanks to some new concept art from Andrew Leung, we can get a much better idea of the designs that were envisioned for the film. The images feature a glimmering, futuristic-looking city (presumably capital of Birnin Zana) surrounded by lakes, in the middle of gigantic valley. Could this stunning work inform the design for Wakanda in the solo Black Panther movie? It's possible, but chances are they'll be starting from scratch, maybe only taking influence from a particular aspect here and there. Captain America: Civil War is out now on Blu-ray and DVD, while Black Panther claws its way into theaters on February 16, 2018.

Here are few pieces of early concept art that were created for Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool. These were done by conceptual artist Andrew Leung before Tim Miller was even on board to direct the project. This is a note from Leung that accompanied the art:
"I worked on an early pitch of Deadpool before a director was decided upon. It's interesting to see what ended up carrying through and being used in the actual film."
This key frame art visually brought to life an early draft of the script that was written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Ryan Reynolds. They include a scene from the epic freeway battle; Deadpool lying on a bed bleeding; Blind Al putting together some Ikea furniture while Deadpool is sitting down holding a TV remote in his little baby hand; and one in which Wade Wilson meets Vanessa for the first time in the bar.

A heartbreakingly lovely film about the seemingly insurmountable distances between us when sharing grief is too painful. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Oh dear, what a heartbreakingly lovely — and just plain heartbreaking — film. Elderly Chinese-Cambodian immigrant Junn (Pei-pei Cheng: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) never quite assimilated into life in London, and now that her only child, 20something Kai (Andrew Leung), is gone, taken in an unnamed tragedy, she is lost not only in grief but in isolation. With her husband also long dead, Kai was only her only connection to the world — she never learned to speak English — and now she is truly adrift and alone. And it’s really hard for her to accept help from Kai’s friend Richard (Ben Whishaw: The Zero Theorem), because she’s jealous of their relationship…...
