By all measures, Ziffren Brittenham senior partner Clifford Gilbert-Lurie has had a storied run as an entertainment attorney. Over the course of his four-decade-plus career, he has made big deals for a long list of loyal clients that have generated pages upon pages of headlines in the show business trades. For those professional accomplishments, along with his philanthropic efforts, he’s being honored with Variety’s Power of Law Award at a breakfast April 18 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills.
But if one had to point to a single metric that sums up how much he is valued, it would be a British luxury car topped by a large red bow.
More specifically, a Bentley, gifted to him by producer Dick Wolf.
Sandra Bullock vividly remembers the night. The year was 2004. She had come to Gilbert-Lurie’s 50th birthday party armed with what she thought was the perfect gift,...

Exclusive: Senator Kamala Harris has long been tight with Hollywood, and yesterday Tinseltown’s biggest donors handed over some very big bucks to the Democrats’ vice presidential nominee.
In a virtual fundraiser put together by Ryan Murphy, Disney TV Studios boss Dana Walden, PR ace Chrisette Hudlin and Laura Shell, California’s junior senator raked in over $8 million for her and Joe Biden’s poll leading White House bid.
Announced on August 27, the event put dough in the purse of the Biden Victory Fund, a joint committee of Joe Biden’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee and state parties. Going into the final 59 days before the election, yesterday’s fundraiser is one of the biggest hauls that Biden and his running mate Harris has raised this season. Featuring both ex-vp Biden and Sen. Harris, a Jeffrey Katzenberg and George Clooney co-hosted virtual Hollywood fundraiser on August 21 raised $7 million for the Biden Victory Fund.

Jack Black is hopping on board to star and produce The Lost Adventures of Stone Perlmutter Jr. for Universal Studios.
The project hails from scribes Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory and comes on the heels of the duo setting up the comedy Pros at the studio, with Mary Parent and Scott Stuber producing.
Perlmutter is described as a faux documentary made from recently "discovered" footage from 1979 chronicling the disastrous journey of a self-styled Indiana Jones-type adventurer who traveled the world trying to find the Yeti, El Dorado, the lost tomb of Jesus and other great mysteries.
Black is attached to play Perlmutter and will produce via his Universal-based Electric Dynamite banner.
Dylan Clark is overseeing.
Huyck and Gregory began their career as writers for Late Show With David Letterman before going on to The Larry Sanders Show, Frasier and King of the Hill. They are repped by Endeavor, Mosaic Media and attorney Cliff Gilbert-Lurie.
Black, repped by UTA, will next appear in the New Line comedy Be Kind Rewind.
