For director, co-writer and star Jerry Seinfeld, “Unfrosted” was an opportunity to bring something a little less serious to the entertainment zeitgeist. A humorless life without the ability to make fun of ourselves, he postured, doesn’t make for “good living.”
“Don’t give up laughing and humor and comedy in your life. It’s the best way to get through life,” Seinfeld said. “We all want to not hurt each other’s feelings. But if we go too far, and nobody can make fun of anybody, that’s not good living.”
“Unfrosted” is a fictionalized account of the creation of the Kellogg’s staple Pop-Tarts. The plot takes a “space race” approach, with Post Cereal as the other heavyweight in the fight to be the first to craft the toasted pastry treat.
It costars a kaleidoscope of Hollywood funny people, including Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer, Jim Gaffigan, Hugh Grant,...

With major franchises such as Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar under its roof, Disney typically finds itself on the top of the box-office heap, but that wasn’t the case last year. The company had more than a few failures which found its fortunes falling, and Deadline reports that four of the five biggest box-office bombs of 2023 belonged to Disney.
First up, and least surprising, is The Marvels, the Captain Marvel sequel starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris. As its predecessor grossed $1.1 billion, it was hoped that the sequel would equal that number, but the film turned out to be a bomb of epic proportions, grossing just $206 million worldwide. The film reportedly found Disney taking a loss of $237 million. Yikes.

For years various producers have pitched doing something like a zany It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World, only populated by an epic cast of contemporary comedy stars just like that Stanley Kramer supercomedy did during its time in 1963. So it is probably not a coincidence that Jerry Seinfeld selected that very year in which to set his live action filmmaking debut, Unfrosted, as a quadruple threat of star, director, co-writer, producer.
Placing it in Battle Creek, Michigan and taking the real life story of the rivalry of cereal kingpins Kellogg’s and Post in their race to create a revolutionary breakfast pastry, Seinfeld and his longtime writing partner Spike Feresten, along with their Bee Movie collaborators Andy Rubin & Barry Marder, have chosen to use some real life people, made up several others, salted it all with some basic truths, and basically let the laughs and comedy lead the way in the telling.

Jerry Seinfeld took a shot at Friends in a new digital short promoting his new film Unfrosted, a comedy about the creation of Pop-Tarts.
Seinfeld made his directorial debut in the Netflix film about how the toaster pastries came to be. A new short ahead of the film’s release on May 3, Seinfeld visits Kellogg’s corporate offices in Michigan due to “trademark infringement.”
“You see, Mr. Seinfeld, you took something of ours, and now we’re going to take something of yours,” says the fictional President of Pop-Tarts, Kelman P. Gasworth.
Tarty, the Pop-Tarts mascot, then proceeds to unveil former Seinfeld characters trapped in a box. Making a cameo in the spot are Alexandra Wentworth’s Schmoopie, Phil Morris’s Jackie Chiles and Larry Thomas’ The Soup Nazi.

Hugh Grant's homemade iPhone audition clip left the 'Unfrosted' writers "stunned".The 'Notting Hill' star features in Jerry Seinfeld's comedy 'Unfrosted' as Thurl Ravenscroft – the actor who played Tony the Tiger for several decades – and his home-filmed try-out couldn't have gone down any better.Recalling his audition, Seinfeld's co-writer Spike Feresten told IndieWire: “He had a glass of wine in his hand, and he was on the couch.“We were just stunned on how homemade his audition was — and how good it was. Here’s Hugh Grant at 8 o’clock at night before he goes to bed, crushing the lines. Crushing. That’s when we said, ‘Jerry, close this for us. Get this guy.’”It was no doubt a relief that Grant was perfect for the role because they were "terrified" of not being able to cast anyone.Seinfeld - who also plays Bob Cabana,...

In his feature directorial debut, actor and comedian Jerry Seinfeld also stars in an upcoming comedy movie titled Unfrosted: The Pop Tart Story, based on a screenplay he co-wrote with a team of writers. His team of writers included Spike Feresten, Barry Marder, and Andy Robin. The movie stars Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, James Marsden, Hugh Grant, Dan Levy, and more, in addition to Seinfeld leading the cast.
The movie, which is scheduled to make its debut on Netflix in May, is loosely based on the true story of the creation of Pop-Tarts toaster pastries. The actor-comedian reportedly deconstructed his Pop Tart stand-up bit from his last Netflix special, 23 Hours to Kill, and explored it into a giant comedy movie. The debutant director talks about casting Hugh Grant in the movie.

A recognized cereal aficionado, Jerry Seinfeld turns his attention to another breakfast treat, the Pop-Tart, in the trailer for his upcoming film, Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story. He gives the subject matter the full Oppenheimer treatment, satirically showing a countdown and a launch of the beloved confection before giving a brief history of cereal. The film, which premieres on Netflix on May 3, marks Seinfeld’s directorial debut.
The trailer shows Seinfeld, in some sort of character, enthusing about the discovery of the Pop-Tart and the ensuing fracas between Post and Kellogg’s.

Aubrey Plaza and Dan Levy, the stars of “Happiest Season,” are reunited for short film “Decades of Confusion,” which is basically a commercial for fashion brand Loewe. If only Plaza could spell it.
It ain’t your average retail ad: “Black Mirror” director Ally Pankiw directed the short that was penned by “Good Grief” and “Schitt’s Creek” star Levy.

Eugene Levy admitted he’s looking at the future of his acting career and believes retirement may not be too far away.
The 77-year-old actor-comedian, who had a career resurgence in the past decade thanks to the comedy series Schitt’s Creek, recently opened up to The Independent about potentially stepping back from acting sooner rather than later.
“I’m not afraid of retirement,” Levy confessed. “I love it when I have nothing on the agenda, I really do. I love getting up and the only big decision is where to go for lunch. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
The Reluctant Traveler host explained that he’s not seeking out any long-term projects, but rather ones that better align with his current schedule and require fewer time commitments.

To date, only three programs throughout television history have swept the top seven Primetime Emmys categories for series, lead actor, lead actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, writing and directing. The lucky three are: miniseries “Angels in America” (2004), comedy series “Schitt’s Creek” (2020) and drama series “The Crown” (2021). At the upcoming 2024 Emmys, “The Bear” is hoping to join this esteemed list — and it’s all thanks to a savvy category switcheroo from one of its fan-fave stars.
Recently the FX dramedy about a Chicago beef restaurant claimed six of the top seven Primetime Emmys for its first season: comedy series, lead actor Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, supporting actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach as restaurant manager Richard “Richie” Jerimovich, supporting actress Ayo Edebiri as sous-chef Sydney Adamu, and both writing and directing for Christopher Storer. “The Bear” was not eligible in the lead actress category, so it couldn’t win there and complete the sweep.

You could never accuse Hugh Grant of playing it safe. In recent years, he’s taken all kinds of unexpected roles – most recently appearing as an Oompa Loompa in Paul King’s Wonka. Prior to that, their team-up on Paddington 2 resulted in the instantly iconic ham-tastic villain Phoenix Buchanan. He’s gone toe-to-toe with bards and bird-people in Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, geezered it up with Guy Ritchie on The Gentlemen – and never forget his time as a future-world cannibal in Cloud Atlas. Now, Grant is taking on a role that few will have seen coming: in Unfrosted – Jerry Seinfeld’s upcoming comedy about the invention of beloved toaster-pastry the Pop-Tart – he’ll be none other than… Tony The Tiger.

The premise of The Reluctant Traveler is a simple one. There’s a traveler and he’s reluctant, you see. But’s he’s also much more than that.
That’s because the titular reluctant traveler in this Apple TV+ docuseries is none other than comedy legend Eugene Levy. Levy’s prolific career has spanned decades – from his time on the Canadian sketch series Sctv to his many roles in Christopher Guest’s collection of mockumentaries to his most recent Emmy award-winning portrayal of Johnny Rose in Schitt’s Creek, the sitcom created by his son Dan Levy. Through all of these onscreen adventures, however, Levy never quite caught the travel bug. The Reluctant Traveler season 1 sought to rectify that by forcing him into locales like Costa Rica, Italy, Japan, and more.

Dan Levy has joined the cast of 'Animal Friends'.The 'Schitt's Creek' actor is set to star alongside Ryan Reynolds in the live-action/animated hybrid movie. The R-rated road trip adventure is being directed by Peter Atencio and other cast members include Jason Momoa, Addison Rae and Aubrey Plaza.Plot details are being kept under wraps but the script has been penned by writing duo Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider.Meanwhile, Dan recently suggested that homophobia had robbed him of the chance to play "wonderful, rich, challenging roles".Asked if it is easier for stars to be open about their sexuality compared to when he started his career, the 40-year-old actor told the i newspaper: "In some ways, yes. And in some ways, no. I think there has been a shift in the sense that there are more gay celebrities than ever before."But do I think that opportunity has changed?...

With American Idol Season 22 in full swing, Katy Perry is already feeling the ire of viewers across the U.S.
Shortly after Sunday’s season premiere kicked off, fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to give their verdict on the episode, and many took issue with Perry consistently telling viewers she thinks they are in the top ten.
While it may be a good way to showcase that she thinks the people auditioning are very good, saying it constantly means it doesn’t gather as much weight.
That phrase should only be used for a few people at the auditions stage because, as we know from watching the previous 21 seasons, not all of the auditions are good.
Truthfully, the best stories come from the people who show growth as the competition gathers steam.
Somehow, Perry always seems to find herself on the outs with fans, but this is...

Best Friend Forever has acquired international rights to emerging director Dania Reymond-Boughenou’s debut feature “Silent Storms,” a supernatural film set in a fictional Arab city.
Currently in post production, the movie follows Nacer, a 45-year-old journalist who is observing the appearance of strange yellow sandstorms looming over Algiers and its surroundings. While covering the phenomenon for his newspaper, he starts witnessing more and more supernatural events, until his late wife Fajar returns to life. Faced with increasingly threatening storms, Samir has to face a dark past that haunts him.
“Silent Storms” stars Khaled Benaïssa (“Papicha”), singer-turned-director Camélia Jordana, Shirine Boutella (“Lupin”) and Mehdi Ramdani. The movie is scored by Dan Levy (“I Lost my Body”).
Reymond-Boughenou previously directed the short film “Constellation de la Rouguiere,” which was selected for Fid Marseille and Clermont Ferrand film festivals.
The helmer said she wanted the film to depict the reappearing of a traumatic memory.

The list of actors who almost appeared in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” is becoming almost as long as the star-studded cast of the Best Picture nominated film. So far, we know actors like Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet were either cut from the film or weren’t able to shoot their scenes, Ben Affleck was recently touted for an action scene that never happened. Additionally, Bowen Yang, Dan Levy, Ben Platt, and Jonathan Groff were among desired actors who couldn’t make the production due to Covid.

Super Bowl Sunday always has a little something for everyone, but this year's big game in Las Vegas went above and beyond in the razzle-dazzle department.
We were, of course, prepared for a celebrity-crammed spectacle due to the luxury booth presence of Travis Kelce's substantially famous girlfriend, but this gridiron rematch between last year's combatants, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, brought out more than just arguably the most famous pop star on the planet. The only pop star in that aforementioned argument, Beyoncé, was there with her hip-hop god husband Jay-Z! The world's greatest basketball player, LeBron James, flew in from Los Angeles for the contest! And Paul freakin' Rudd, sporting a bushy freakin' mustache that would've driven Avery Schreiber into a jealous rage, prowled the sidelines pre-game in support of his hometown Chiefs!
But if we're talking true, earth-shaking, knock-you-on-your-keister fame, let there be...

Advertisers who normally use the Super Bowl to create commercials that make your jaw drop instead were content if they could get just a little smile.
For the second consecutive year, Madison Avenue relied on a massive parade of celebrities to capture consumer attention, foregoing in many cases the social messages and dynamic creative concepts that have generated chatter in the past. Where the Super Bowl was once the setting for Apple’s still-talked-about “1984” commercial or Procter & Gamble’s clever insertion of Tide into a bevy of ads, it’s now become a place for formulaic cameos of famous faces.
“It’s like a celebrity arms race,” says Simon Bruyn, executive creative director at Mother, an independent agency. “It’s like one celebrity isn’t enough.”

The Directors Guild of America held its 76th annual awards tonight at the Beverly Hilton. Christopher Nolan took home the night’s top honor for Oppenheimer. Celine Song took home the prize for first-time theatrical film for Past Lives.
The DGA is a strong predictor of Oscar success historically, missing the eventual Best Director winner only eight times in 75 years. The group handed its top trophy to the Daniels for Everything Everywhere All at Once last year, and Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert went on to snag the Academy Award a month later, becoming only the third duo to claim that prized statuette.

Dan Levy is recalling the first time he hosted Saturday Night Live and how the presence of Drew Barrymore comforted him.
While making an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Schitt’s Creek alum remembered running into Barrymore at a Covid testing area in 2021 ahead of his turn as hot on the NBC late-night sketch show.
“I was just about to do Saturday Night Live [and] I had never been so nervous in my entire life,” Levy recalled. “And I saw your face, and it was like an instant balm. There are moments when you need a little bit of a life raft, and I looked over and saw you and was like, ‘Today’s gonna be Ok.’ The nerves are gonna be fine.”
The run-in was a little different from Barrymore’s perspective, as she says she was nervous about meeting Levy.

There’s some obvious good news about this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. The show, hosted by Anthony Anderson, and dedicated to celebrating 75 years of television for the 75th annual Emmy ceremony, was about as solid and entertaining as modern awards telecasts get: lots of nostalgia, lots of reminders of why we love the medium being honored, and a minimum of prolonged comedy bits that don’t work. It wasn’t perfect, but it had energy and strong feelings for nearly all of its three-hour running time.
More good news!

Dan Levy is "haunted" by his decision to turn down a role in 'Barbie'.The former 'Schitt's Creek' star was asked to play one of the Kens in Greta Gerwig's blockbuster smash hit but he was unable to accept the part because of scheduling conflicts and he admitted it was a "tough" decision to have to make.He told People magazine: "Logistically, could not make it work despite desperately trying to. Okay, Larry David might actually be done this time. The comedian's long-running series "Curb Your Enthusiasm" has taken a few breaks since it first debuted an impressive 24 years ago, including a six-year hiatus between seasons 8 and 9. Every season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" has felt like it could be the last for years, but the new trailer for the show's 12th season – which has been announced as its last — has a genuine sense of finality. As usual, though, the fictional Larry David seems poised to make a hilarious exit.
The new trailer doesn't give too much away about the plot of "Curb" season 12, but it's characteristically flippant about the show's ending. "Larry is back for one final act," the title cards read. "Don't be mad he's leaving, be mad he stayed so long." In keeping with tradition for the meta-comedy, a whole slew of guest stars seem to be ready to say goodbye,...

Time Bomb Y2K Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Peter De Jager, Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Leonard Nimoy

Time Bomb Y2K Movie Review ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
What’s Good: The documentary skillfully maintains a severe tone, reflecting the genuine anxiety of the Y2K period. The absence of narration and talking heads enhances the immersive experience, making it a true time capsule. The film’s exploration of the intersection between technology, media hysteria, and societal fears adds depth to the narrative.
What’s Bad: While “Time Bomb Y2K” effectively captures the essence of the Y2K panic, its exclusive reliance on archival footage prevents a contemporary accountability check for those involved. The absence of post-event interviews with crucial figures creates a notable blind spot, leaving certain aspects unexplored.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is coming to an end and Larry David’s going out in style.
HBO has unveiled a trailer for Season 12, the final season, which launches on February 4.
“Don’t be mad he’s leaving, be mad he stayed so long,” the trailer urges as we see Larry engage in more classic behavior.
As always, he appears to be upsetting his friends including Susie Greene, played by Susie Essman, wife of his best pal and manager Jeff. “You’re small, you’re petty, you’re jealous. You’re a walking, fucking virus, Larry,” she says.
There’s another run in with ex-wife Cheryl and her new beau Ted Danson.
He gets deep with Leon, played by J.B Smoove, and has a moment of clarity with Richard Lewis, his oldest friend.

After a late start to its fourth season and behind-the-scenes turmoil, The Drew Barrymore Show has received and early, drama-free renewal for a fifth season on the CBS Stations.
It is the first pickup for the syndicated daytime talker since the major reorganization at the show’s producer and distributor CBS Media Ventures, which was put under the purview of Wendy McMahon, now President and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures.
The renewal also comes after a rocky fall for The Drew Barrymore Show whose host originally announced a Sept. 18 return, while the writers were still striking, before reversing the decision amid picketing of the show and outcry from WGA members.
Season 4 instead launched post-strike on Oct. 16 but without the program’s three WGA-member writers who declined to return and had to be replaced.

Dan Levy admitted that he was too “busy” to finish watching The Idol last summer, especially after one of his scenes was cut from the HBO show.
The actor played Benjamin, Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) publicist, in the controversial five-episode series, but his character appeared only in the first episode, and another scene never made it in the final cut of the show.
Now, more than six months after The Idol premiered in June, Levy made an appearance on Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen and was asked by Cohen on behalf of a fan: “Why were your scenes cut from The Idol, and what did you really think of the show?”
Though the Schitt’s Creek star seemed to be a bit taken aback by the question, he said in response after giving it some thought, “I think it was only one scene that was cut.
