The latest round of Outlander spinoff casting includes an Easter Egg for a subset of the book-loyal fandom.
Starz on Wednesday announced the addition of four roles to the forthcoming prequel, Blood of My Blood. Among them: Watchmen‘s Sara Vickers in the part of Brian Fraser’s mother (and, therefore, Jamie Fraser’s grandmother). The character is a housekeeper in the Lovat household, which is good and all, but we’re super into how she’s also named after someone many devotees of author Diana Gabaldon will recognize: Davina Porter, who narrates the audiobook versions of Gabaldon’s Outlander book series.

Back in December 2023, Netflix swooped in and acquired season two of the critically acclaimed Australian drama The Tourist after Max passed on picking up the distribution rights after airing the first season. Season one of the riveting drama followed Jamie Dornan (Belfast) as a man with a sketchy past who suffered from amnesia as the result of a car accident that was meant to kill him. And season two, which premieres on February 29, 2024, finds Dornan reprising his role as Elliot alongside Danielle Macdonald as Helen, the only person he could depend on when he couldn’t remember his own name.
Their relationship grew over the course of the first season, and by the finale, they were more than just friends. HBO has renewed banking drama series Industry for a third season.
Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay and produced in the UK by Bad Wolf, Industry gives an insider’s view of the blackbox of high finance following a group of young bankers as they forge their identities within the pressure cooker environment and sex and drug fueled blitz of international bank Pierpoint & Co’s London office.
In Season 2, the grads are no longer allowed to hide behind their graduate status. The market is ripping, and Pierpoint’s back to work or else mandate has the trading floor more charged up and paranoid than ever. New U.S. management will be gasoline on the flames – an injection of cross Atlantic energy that lights a fire under each and every employee. Now Harper (Myha’la Herrold), Yasmin (Marisa Abela) and Robert (Harry Lawtey) must drive new business and make new alliances...

“There’s a lot of vulnerability and cracks in her character,” Marisa Abela says about Yasmin in HBO’s freshman drama series “Industry.” Abela stars as one of the recent college graduates who takes a temporary position on the Foreign Exchange desk at the prestigious Pierpoint investment bank in London and must compete against her fellow grads for a limited number of permanent posts. Watch our exclusive interview with Abela above.
Abela shares that she was “overwhelmed with excitement” to play Yasmin, who she describes as “intelligent” and “ferocious,” and who is “majorly overwhelmed in this world and not ready to be challenged and targeted.” Throughout the first season, Yasmin is ignored and harassed by her line manager Kenny (Conor MacNeill), and an early scene in which Kenny forces Yasmin to pitch investment ideas while sitting on a garbage bin proved an important moment for Abela in unlocking the complexity of her character.

“Industry” has been renewed for a second season at HBO.
Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, the drama’s eight-episode first season, which premiered Nov. 9, follows a group of young graduates competing for a limited number of permanent positions at a leading international bank in London.
Per HBO, the BBC co-production “gives an insider’s view of the blackbox of ‘high finance’ through the eyes of an outsider, Harper Stern (Myha’la Herrold), a talented young woman from upstate New York. Following a group of young grads fueled by ambition, youth, romance and drugs, the series examines issues of gender, race, class, and privilege in the workplace as these impressionable young minds begin to forge their identities within the pressure cooker environment and sensory blitz of Pierpoint & Co’s trading floor, where meritocracy is promised but hierarchy is king.”
