LuvLeighAn Clark
- Writer
- Director
- Producer
An upcoming filmmaker and producer, LuvLeighAn creates stories based on her experiences and visions.
After spending her early years in an abusive adoptive home, LuvLeighAn spent the rest of her life in foster care. Her time in foster care was difficult, especially because she moved twenty times before turning 18 years old.
LuvLeighAn's inability to attend school was hampered by her moving so many time, and her thirst for knowledge was stifled. LuvLeighAn had an education that was below expectations even before she was placed in foster care. Her adopted parents compelled her school to hold her back from first grade to prevent her and her sister from becoming close and speaking out about the abuse in the home.
LuvLeighAn has always enjoyed writing, but she allowed others' disapproval of her dyslexia-related inability to spell causing her to fear falling, which prevented her from sharing her work with others. She finally shared some of her poems on social media after getting over her fear of what people would say about them. "Sex is my Cocaine" was the title of one such poem. A band with a female singer was singing her poem while she was at a bar watching live music. She deleted all of her poems and hid all her writing for years.
She did publish her writing after many years. She must share her writing, especially since she wants to be a writer and filmmaker. Because she is a foster child and has learning disabilities, LuvLeighAn has been told all her life that she will never be successful. She was compelled to obtain a GED because she was unable to complete high school when she came out of foster care.
She started college, but she failed miserably. She wanted to know everything and continued to learn nothing. She wouldn't try again for a few more years, but when she did the college told her about the disabled student center. She was able to finish her classes thanks to a department that aids students with learning disabilities.
Her grade point average for the first semester was just below 2.0. She has since earned four associate degrees, two bachelor's degrees, and three master's degrees. During her first master's degree, she also achieved her highest GPA of 3.9.
Just a few years after she got out of foster care, LuvLeighAn walked from Michigan to Los Angeles to work in film. She worked as an extra on her first movie set. She was perplexed by the film set because they did not shot in the order of the script. As a result, she left the film industry and worked for four years on plays while earning her BA in theatre. However, LuvLeighAn discovered that she preferred to watch plays than work on them. And returned to California, where she began working as an extra on film sets.
Soon enough, LuvLeighAn realized that she preferred working behind the scenes than in front of the camera. She attended the Los Angeles City Colleges Film School to enhance her skills. Where she discovered that she was better at completing paperwork and selecting profitable scripts. which has prompted her to begin working on her own projects and assisting others produce theirs.
LuvLeighAn chooses projects that encourage people to reflect on how they treat others. She creates worlds using her physical disabilities, autism, ADHD, and dyslexia, as well as her traumas, to make people stop and consider how they treat others. LuvLeighAn believes that filmmakers have a responsibility to demonstrate to the public how we can coexist while remaining who we are. To get to know one another and not hate someone just because we do not agree with them or understand them.
Additionally, LuvLeighAn writes from dreams. Others have said that her dreams are strange and that others do not dream this way. However, she believes that these bizarre dreams aid in the creation of entertaining tales.
Long-term objectives for LuvLeighAn include becoming a showrunner and film producer. She wants to work as a director for both her own projects and others, even though she does not want to direct all of them. Also, LuvLeighAn wants to be the one who produces the next great project. She thinks that Creative Producers should not just find the same stories we have seen and read before, but also new stories about which we do not know if they will be as successful as we think they will be. However, life is supposed to be an adventure. And the first step in that adventure is to try out novel concepts.
The next adventure is only a script away from the big screen.
Will you be courageous enough to take a leap into this next adventure, and tell the untold, un-recycled stories?
Come on, we can do it together.
