Before Allen Klein became a thorn in Paul McCartney’s side, the Beatle used him to question his manager, Brian Epstein. At the time, Klein managed The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles believed they had a better deal. McCartney said that he misunderstood the deal Klein had gotten the Stones, which put him at odds with Epstein.
Paul McCartney spoke to Beatles manager Brian Epstein about Allen Klein
Epstein managed The Beatles from 1961 until his death in 1967. He did a solid job with the band, but they began to wonder if a better deal was possible for them.
“With Brian, I remember talking about [Allen] Klein — being in a lift in Hilly House, and saying, ‘We just heard that The Rolling Stones were getting sixpence royalty per record’ or something like that, and we knew that we got four,” McCartney explained in the book All You Need Is Love: The Beatles...

Paul McCartney and John Lennon were on decidedly bad terms after The Beatles broke up. McCartney sued his bandmates to take control of their catalog from their manager, Allen Klein. The other three Beatles resented him for this, and their interactions following the split were chilly. After a phone argument with Lennon, McCartney made a mistake that only made things worse.
Paul McCartney made an uncomfortable mistake after a fight with John Lennon
As the former members of The Beatles worked their way through the lawsuit, Lennon made it clear to them that he wanted indemnity. He reportedly had over $1 million in personal debts and wanted protection. McCartney spoke to his lawyer, John Eastman, then called Lennon to tell him he could have indemnity.
The conversation began friendly enough, but when McCartney began to talk about business, Lennon’s mood soured.
“John said, ‘F***ing indemnity. F***ing this, f***ing that.

John Eastman, formerly an attorney for Donald Trump, claimed he was dropped by two banks, Bank of America and Usaa, in several months due to his association with the former president and role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
So-called “de-banking” is a phenomenon in which financial institutions deny services to targets of political activism, usually conservatives.
These actions were taken amid intense backlash against his work advising Trump in the 2020 election, in which he promoted false claims of election rigging that lacked evidence and any legal basis.
Eastman claimed that he had shifted most of his banking activities to Usaa, a financial services provider dedicated exclusively to military veterans and their families, due to his dissatisfaction with Bank of America’s “wokeness.” Both institutions are federally insured, and Bank of America received billions of dollars in taxpayer funds during the global financial crisis.

Paramount scored a solid hit last year with the stylish and witty Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and the studio already has a sequel to that one bubbling away in a cauldron of ooze, scheduled to land in 2026. Yet it clearly feels there is room to also revisit the characters in live-action form, and to take the concept in a darker, grittier and altogether more violent direction, setting up an adaptation of popular Idw comics title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.
Turtles comic co-creator Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz wrote the book based on an older story by Eastman and his co-creator Peter Laird, while the art came courtesy of Esau and Isaac Escorza, Ben Bishop and Eastman.

After the success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, inspiring a sequel and animated series, Paramount Pictures continues to go all in on Turtle Power. THR reports that the studio is now developing a new R-rated, live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
The live-action movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, an adaptation of the bestselling Idw comic miniseries of the same name. It’ll mark the first R-rated feature film for the franchise.
The Last Ronin is “Set in a totalitarian future New York City, the comic mini-series told of how the Turtles and master Splinter are killed off one by one by the grandson of the villainous Shredder and synthetic ninjas. One Turtle manages to survive, barely, and vows to exact bloody vengeance. One trick of the book was that it wasn’t clear, for a while at least, which one of the Turtles lived as...

Paramount hasn’t even started their CinemaCon session yet and news is breaking like flies on a rib roast.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin based on the fan-fave graphic novel is in the works with Tyler Burton Smith writing and Walter Hamada producing through his 18hz production company, as part of his multi-year deal with the studio. The movie will be the first R-rated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Hopefully, there won’t be any naughty scenes involving turtles ala Fritz the Cat.
Smith recently co-wrote the upcoming Roadside Attractions R-rated action movie Boy Kills World which hits theaters on April 26.
Last Ronin was published as a miniseries between 2020 and 2022 and is set in a totalitarian future New York City as the Turtles and their master Splinter are assassinated by the grandson of their prime villain Shredder and his posse. One of the Turtles survives and swears revenge.

The 40-year-old, kid-friendly franchise Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is returning to movie theaters in live action, in a project that Paramount Pictures is targeting instead for adults.
The studio is developing the bloody and intense graphic novel series “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin” with screenwriter Tyler Burton Smith (“Boy Kills World”) and Walter Hamada’s 18hz production company through his multi-year deal. The 2020-2022 miniseries — written by original “Turtles” creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, with Eastman and Tom Waltz developing the script — is set in a bleak, dystopian future in which Oroku Hiroto, the grandson of the Turtles’ arch-nemesis, Shredder, rules New York City as a totalitarian despot. Hiroto has killed all but one of the Turtles, as well as their mentor, Splinter; the remaining Turtle seeks revenge by wielding all four of their signature weapons.

A California Bar Court Judge Yvette Roland ruled that conservative attorney John Eastman, one of the co-conspirators in former President Donald Trump‘s plan to overturn the 2020 election, should be disbarred.
Eastman testified before the State Bar of California in June 2023 in a proceeding aimed to strip him of his license to practice law in the state.
He was one of Trump’s lawyers in 2020 and played a large role in helping him try to overturn the results of that year’s election, which the former president falsely claims was “stolen” by Joe Biden and Democratic officials.
He also devised a plan involving former Vice President Mike Pence invalidating the 2020 results during a joint session of Congress which had convened to count the electoral votes.
For months, a federal grand jury in Washington met in secret and heard testimony from witnesses, including Pence. He allegedly told the jury that he...

Rochester, NY – The last week of the “job well done” certainly applies to the career of Legacy Curator Kathy Connor of the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, New York. After 42 years she retires as of March 31st, after overseeing the renovations and expansion to the Victorian mansion and the preservation efforts of George Eastman’s photography and film heritage.
George Eastman was in essence the inventor of at-home photography. As described in the Podtalk, he found a way to take the mechanics of picture taking from the studios of the era to the hands of everyone, as he evolved the photo/movie film formats through the years and compacted them further. Even as he passed away in 1932, the Rochester-based “Kodak” company (an invented name by Eastman) continued to innovate home photography and motion pictures for many years afterward. He was also a generous benefactor, providing $100 million dollars of his fortune...

Following the death of their manager, The Beatles hired Allen Klein, a move that Mick Jagger warned John Lennon against. Klein had worked with The Rolling Stones as well, and Jagger felt that it would be a terrible idea for The Beatles to hire him. He called Lennon to try to warn him, but Lennon wouldn’t listen. Several years later, though, he realized Jagger had been right.

The Rolling Stones worked with Klein before The Beatles hired him, and their working relationship did not end well. The band alleged that Klein had pocketed their royalty payments, failed to pay their taxes, and stolen their publishing rights. Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of the superhero comic 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', says there's "lots of room for other kinds of comic book movies" despite Marvel and DC's supremacy. With the release of the blockbuster animated movie 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem', Eastman has predicted that there will be plenty more superhero comic adaptations to come from other studios.Speaking to NME.com, he said: “They’ve [Marvel] done it so well for so long. I remember when Captain America: The First Avenger came out [in 2011]… It was perfectly done with Chris Evans as the Captain and it was done in a very sincere and serious [way], recognising the importance of the [comics] fanbase… right up through to Avengers: Endgame [in 2019] and some of the TV series. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have endured in the pop culture consciousness for well over 30 years now, in no small part thanks to the '80s animated TV show and, perhaps more importantly, the wildly successful 1990 blockbuster live-action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" film. Directed by Steve Barron, that movie was truly the point of no return. The Turtles became superstars and, arguably, for a time, the most popular superheroes in North America. But things could have been quite different if an early pitch for a film adaptation had been received more warmly.

Beatles fans might be surprised to learn that McCartney actually goes by his middle name, not his first name. Originally named James after his father, his family decided to call him Paul to avoid any potential mix-ups. The name stuck, and the rest is pretty much history.
Interestingly, “James McCartney” doesn’t quite have that same Beatles ring to it.
2. The Beatles singer bombed at choir auditions

Leonard Maltin is probably the world’s most famous living film critic. For many people, he was the Internet Movie Database before the advent of the internet. The author of more than a dozen important books on film, he is best known for the exhaustive “movie guide” that he updated dozens of times between 1969 and 2014, on the cover of which appeared his bearded and bespectacled face and his name above the title from 1986 on, and which The New York Times described in 1996 as “the go-to choice for both film geeks and casual couch potatoes” and in 1997 as “the bible of American cinephiles.” And he also reviewed movies and interviewed just about every major filmmaker and star in front of a massive TV audience as the on-air film film critic for Entertainment Tonight from 1982 to 2012.

Attorney John Eastman, one of the legal minds behind Donald Trump’s scheme to stay in office, surrendered to Georgia authorities on Tuesday for his arrest and arraignment on charges related to the efforts to subvert the 2020 election.
While leaving the courthouse, Eastman reportedly resisted his attorney’s efforts to steer him away from an awaiting gaggle of reporters. Eastman then doubled down on the election lie used to justify the allegedly illegal effort to keep Trump in office, telling a reporter that there was “no question” in his mind...

Los Angeles, Aug 18 (Ians) The action-comedy movie series ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ has released its latest installment of the franchise with the animated movie ‘Mutant Mayhem’, a total reboot and a more comic-accurate movie hitting Indian screens on August 25.
Inspired by the popular comic series, an intriguing fact about the comics is that authors Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird were inspired from legendary martial arts exponent and actor Bruce Lee.
The two authors were longtime friends, and in the spirit of camaraderie, they wrote the comic series as a parody of comic book tropes out of sheer amusement, never expecting it to become the massive franchise it has become today.
An intriguing twist of fate led to the emergence of the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’. In November 1983, the comic creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird inadvertently stumbled upon the concept while sharing some ideas in their studio.

Donald Trump may be in trouble in Fulton County, Georgia. But unlike the recent indictment of him in a federal court in Washington, DC, he may not be alone.
Three sources who have spoken with prosecutors tell Rolling Stone that they believe that Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis is likely to indict not just Trump, but a number of his associates involved in attempting to overturn the election, as well.
“It really seems like they’re coming for everyone,” says one lawyer who has repeatedly dealt with the prosecutors in this criminal probe.

The Ninja Turtles are back in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem," an animated film from director Jeff Rowe and producer Seth Rogen. By every measure it's a successful reboot of the beloved property that will keep youngsters and animation enthusiasts entertained. Fans of the original comic books and animated series from the '80s might notice changes to certain aspects of the characters -- "Mutant Mayhem" is more of a character-driven comedy than an action film, with a powerful message about acceptance. I, for one, wanted a bit more ninja madness, but still walked away satisfied.
Regardless of any reservations about the picture, plenty of fun Easter eggs sprinkled throughout pay homage to previous iterations that should satisfy those needing a nostalgia kick. Some are easy to spot, while others require sharp eyes and some brain power. What's clear is that...

Donald Trump has been charged criminally for conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. The indictment, along with the other two that have been leveled against the former president this year, is different from most of his other scandals in that it will ultimately be litigated in a court of law. Trump can’t just dispatch his minions to spew nonsense on cable news and hope the problem goes away.

I am a person of an age where I have never known a world without the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." The first issue of the comic book featuring the characters was released in 1984, a full six years before I was born. This meant I was the perfect age to watch the live-action films of the early 90s, with repeated rentals from my local video store. I also grew up watching the admittedly dreadful "Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation" live-action TV series, relegating me forever to the embarrassing Venus de Milo status in my childhood friend group, despite my last name being 4/5 of the pronunciation of an already existing turtle.

Donald Trump was the star of the indictment handed down by a federal grand jury on Tuesday but Rudy Giuliani, appearing in the document as “co-conspirator 1,” played the biggest supporting role in the narrative of Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election.
Jack Smith mentioned Giuliani — always as “co-conspirator 1” — 34 times, more than any of the half dozen Trump co-conspirators identified in the charging document. The indictment described Giuliani as an attorney “willing to spread knowingly false claims and pursue strategies that the Defendant’s 2020 re-election campaign attorneys would not.”

Donald Trump’s attorneys are preparing a legal plan to shovel blame onto the lawyers who aided his attempt to overturn the 2020 election, two sources familiar with the matter tell Rolling Stone.
Trump has now been indicted over Jan. 6 and its surrounding events, and if the case goes to trial, his current legal team is preparing an “advice of counsel” argument, attempting to pull blame away from the former president for any possible illegal activity. Plans for such a defense have been percolating since last year, the two sources say.

Approximately 40 years after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird first jokingly sketched a masked turtle standing upright with a pair of nunchaku strapped to its little arms, Tmnt is one of the biggest franchises in the world. Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo are now veterans of not only years of comic book storytelling, multiple beloved animated series, blockbuster films, video games, countless toys, and more, but their Renaissance-inspired names are now household ones, and their adventures have delighted multiple generations of children and adults.
In short, the Tmnt are a genuine pop culture institution, a status that’s only going to be further cemented with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, a breathtakingly animated new feature film with an all-star voice cast and an authentically “teenage” attitude and sense of humor.

After conducting a disciplinary investigation, a D.C. bar panel has found that Rudy Giuliani “forfeited his right to practice law” and “should be disbarred” for his actions in the wake of the 2020 presidential election. The recommendations come months after Giuliani was initially interviewed by the three-person panel in December.
The committee’s report, released Friday, found that Giuliani violated Pennsylvania law “by filing a lawsuit seeking to change the result of the 2020 presidential election when he had no factual basis, and consequently, no legitimate legal grounds, to do so.

After spending the last three episodes sending the narrative in circles, Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 6 quite literally turned the show on its head, preparing us for a very different final six episodes.
In recent years, cast departures haven't been as secretive in Twd Universe, and it's shocking that Morgan's arc is wrapped up, seemingly for good, by the end of "All I See is Red."
Morgan has spoken countless times about seeing red after the deaths of his wife and son, and truthfully, I didn't think the showrunners of Fear the Walking Dead could craft a compelling farewell for such an iconic character.
Thankfully, Morgan reached a state of resolution with his past actions and is ready to embrace a new chapter that involves some of his old friends.
This message is for Rick Grimes. It's Morgan Jones. Man, I'm gonna come and look for you, whether you're at Alexandria or not.
