Manoj Bajpayee, known as one of India’s finest actors, is adopting a mass-market action hero persona in upcoming film “Bhaiyya Ji.”
The story, where Bajpayee’s character faces off against a powerful man and his henchmen to seek revenge for wrongs done to his family, is literally ripped from the headlines. The actor read the real-life story in a newspaper several years ago and it stayed with him.
“I wanted to do an independent film and really explore this mindset of revenge, where it comes from, really analyze it and find the psychology of revenge in the human mind, that fascinated me,” Bajpayee told Variety. While shooting courtroom drama “Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai” (2023), the actor mentioned it to director Apoorv Singh Karki, who was similarly fascinated by the idea.
“I just wanted his opinion on it. But this guy jumped up and said, ‘I’m a big fan of mass entertainers,...

Veteran Indian actor Manoj Bajpayee had to get his head around plenty of jargon when starring in ZEE5 Global’s Silence sequel.
“It was enjoyable, but also very challenging,” Bajpayee told Deadline about the Silence 2 shoot. “It was difficult remembering all the forensic technical words and trying to educate myself with forensic procedures.”
Starring Bajpayee and Prachi Desai in the lead roles, Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout is a direct-to-digital release on the ZEE5 Global streaming platform, which premiered yesterday.
After starring in the first instalment titled Silence… Can You Hear It?, Bajpayee returned for Silence 2, where he plays leading investigator Acp Avinash Verma, tasked with analyzing a mass shootout that takes place in a Mumbai night club. Layers begin to peel, however, as something bigger, deeper and darker appears at play.

What’s Good: If a 60-crore film starts to feel better than a 600-crore film (ahem… Adipurush… ahem…), you know what would be good!
What’s Bad: Some unnecessary subplots, a weak villain & the film industry’s unfair trait of supporting big stars
Loo Break: Just the interval, as the film is close to 2 hours 45 minutes
Watch or Not?: If you can digest the weaknesses over the strengths above
Available On: Theatrical release
Runtime: 2 hours 38 minutes

Mumbai, Jan 11 (Ians) The superhero narrative is not an easy genre to pull off. Many storytellers have successfully narrated the good vs evil saga aided by high-end VFX and CGI in Indian cinema and in Hollywood. When director Prasanth Varma set out to make this film, he had his job cut out for him when he decided to mount the film ‘HanuMan’ which draws its strength from Indian mythology.

Animal Movie Review: Ram Gopal Varma Finds Ranbir Kapoor Better Than Leonardo DiCaprio Of Wolf Of Wall Street ( Photo Credit – YouTube; IMDb; Instagram )
Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal has sparked a genuine debate about where to draw the line once violence and s*x are involved. It has also raised eyebrows about the Censor Board’s selective axing and chopping of scenes since Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s gangster drama is clearly high on two things – s*x and violence.
The film creates a debate, precisely like Reddy’s previous film, Kabir Singh. While some hailed it, Swanand Kirkire recently called the film terrible and embarrassing. He even questioned the way women have been treated in the film.
Now, Ram Gopal Varma has offered his two cents about the film in a very long review. The Satya filmmaker wrote a very long and elaborate note on how the film is and shared it on his Twitter account.

Though never overtly revealed, “When We Were Close” is about Isbell’s relationship with Justin Townes Earle, who...

Guns & Gulaabs(Netflix, 8 Episodes)
Can violence ever be humorous? It can, if you are Quentin Tarantino or Guy Ritchie, or nearer home Sriram Raghavan or Raj-dk, the duo that sticks its neck out so far, you fear for their hair.
Guns & Gulaabs (probably a tilt of the protagonist Tipu’s topi to the rock band Guns & Roses) is set around the 1970s and 80s in a lawless town named Gulaabganj, adjoining the town Sherganj . Just when you thought there would be a Romeo and Juliet from the two warring towns , we are told there is a lovelorn Romeo, Tipu played by the irresistibly goofy Rajkummar Rao who pines for a school teacher Lekha on a mo’ped(T J Bhanu).
Now Tipu is no Sultan of romance. Fuck, he can’t even write! So he gets a prim and propah schoolboy who listens to love songs by Aerosmith...

I Love You has a deeper meaning to it and is always used in the context of happiness in most movies in the romantic genre. But if the film is presented as a thriller, it is quite easy to assume that this is going to be a tale of love that has gone wrong.
