[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 13, “Mixed Feelings.”] The latest 9-1-1 had so many moments that we loved: Chimney (Kenneth Choi) talking to Denny (Declan Pratt); Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) playing poker with some familiar faces to test out the former’s new cognitive abilities; Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney having Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby (Peter Krause) over for a dinner that should become a weekly event. But most importantly, Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Karen (Tracie Thoms) found out their son has been spending time with his birth father Nathaniel (Troy Winbush) in the worst way possible. Denny nearly slips up about Nathaniel in the aforementioned conversation with Chimney about fathers. The kid takes from that discussion that the first responder did what he needed to for himself when it came to his own dad. Chimney’s bestie probably wouldn’t be 100 percent on board with that if she ...

Karen contacted his friends and learned “he hasn’t been taking the bus home from school in months.” So how has he been getting home? That’s when Chimney spots Denny walking into the hospital with a paramedic. Hen hurries over, hugs him, and tells Karen she has him. But what happened? Spoiler alert: The following article discusses the entirety of “9-1-1” Season 6, Episode 6, titled “Tomorrow.”
After a fiery cliffhanger in “9-1-1” Season 6 last week, which saw Tracie Thoms’ Karen get caught in an explosion at her lab, Monday night’s episode extinguished all concerns for her health. In Episode 6, titled “Tomorrow,” Karen and Hen’s (Aisha Hinds) story bifurcates into the past and present, unwinding via flashbacks to some of the trials in their relationship and their current struggle to remain together as Karen brushes against death. Having endured exes and a heartbreaking IVF journey in seasons past, the episode closes with Karen healing in the arms of Hen and their son, Denny (Declan Pratt), who was with her at the time of the accident on a school assignment.

Tonight’s hour: explosive! Aisha Hinds’ Hen Wilson takes center stage in 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 6 (airing October 24 on Fox) when the Lafd paramedic and the 118 respond to an eruption at the lab where her wife, Karen (Tracie Thoms), works. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist — which Karen actually is — to realize that a place containing unstable substances and high-tech equipment is a ticking time bomb. “The building houses many departments under the same roof, which come with different dangers,” explains executive producer Kristen Reidel, adding ominously, “some that the 118 isn’t even aware of when they arrive.” Karen and Hen’s budding scientist and roboticist son, sixth-grader Denny (Declan Pratt), is also on site. “Part of his project is in-person observation of Karen’s day-to-day duties,” Reidel says. “No one expects an emergency of this magnitude to occur.” While the first responders race the clock, the episode...
