Lo Brewer
- Costume and Wardrobe Department
Lo was born in Passaic, New Jersey to Patricia and Stacy Poullard. She learned hand sewing techniques from her grandmother Alice and taught herself to sew on her older sister Delia's vintage Singer. A child who immersed herself in artistic things, charcoal sketch, painting, poetry, short stories and sewing, she always wanted to create stories through art.
She received her BA at Rutgers University in 2003 for Journalism and Africana Studies and temporarily made herself content working in a corporate sphere at MTV Networks (later Viacom) and Fox Cable Networks.
In 2015 Lo Brewer walked away from a management level career in corporate training and moved from New Jersey to Los Angeles with her husband, Aaron. She wanted to explore some of her more creative passions like writing, design and sewing. But instead, she floated for a few years, unsure of how to turn all her creative energy into purpose. Fast forward to 2019 when she was at an event where Ruth E. Carter was speaking about her costume design journey. As she listened to her talk about character and story development, she was instantly filled with inspiration. She had found a way to marry her two loves of creating garments and storytelling: costume design.
Since then she's been working her way up through the costume department while lending her creative talents to indie projects on both coasts.
