Bill Raisch was born of German immigrant parents in New Jersey in 1905. After graduating from high school, Raisch took a job at a construction site hauling cement. When he wasn't working, he lifted weights at Sig Klein's Gym in New York City. Raisch was noticed by a society girl looking for a dancing partner and he escorted her to various parties as her date and dancing partner. Raisch came to the attention of Marilyn Miller the star of Ziegfield Follies. She introduced him to Florenz Ziegfeld Jr., who signed Raisch up for his dance troupe.
In the late 1920s, Raisch danced for Ziegfield at the New Amsterdam Roof Theater where he got to work with Maurice Chevalier making his first American stage appearance and he also appeared in the stage musical "Whoopee" starring Eddie Cantor. While he was dancing in New York, Raisch, coming home from work one evening, was attacked by five muggers on the street. Although he was worked over, Raisch took them on and beat them all up single-handily. The next day, a newspaper ran a picture of Raisch with the headline, "Don't Say Dancers Are Sissies". While still in New York, Raisch met and married his wife, Ziegfeld dancer Adele Smith.
During World War II, Raisch served in the U.S. Merchant Marines where he was badly wounded in early 1945 fighting a shipboard fire in which he was so badly burned he lost his right arm. With his stage career over, Raisch moved to Los Angeles in 1946 where Ben Hecht had a part for him in the movie Specter of the Rose (1946).
In 1952, Raisch became a stand-in for Burt Lancaster where he appeared as a double for the famous actor and later appeared as a one-armed man in Lonely Are the Brave (1962). Here Raisch was noticed and offered the recurring role on the TV Series The Fugitive (1963) - Fred Johnson, the One-Armed Man, which David Janssen's character Dr. Richard Kimble hounds throughout the series. However, Raisch was hired just for his looks, not his acting ability. His very first speaking role was mainly limited to a handful of episodes with short lines and speeches. Because of the show's popularity, Raisch was so recognizable as the One-Armed Man that it was almost impossible for him to get work on other shows. So, producer Quinn Martin put Raisch on a retainer, giving him a degree of security.
After "The Fugitive" series ended in 1967, Raisch, fed up with typecast TV and movie offers, rarely acted again, although his popularity of the One-Armed Man never diminished. He worked as an acting teacher and coach in West Los Angeles from then on until his death.
Bill Raisch died from lung cancer in a hospital in Santa Monica in July 1984 at the age of 79.- Devid Striesow was born on 1 October 1973 in Bergen auf Rügen, East Germany [now Germany]. Edvard Hagerup Grieg (Greig) was born on on June 15, 1843, in Bergen, Norway. His father, named Alexander Greig (originally McGregor), was English consul of Scottish origin. His mother, named Gesine Hagerup, was an educated pianist. Grieg grew up among three sisters and an elder brother. He began piano studies with his mother at the age of six. His mother's brother-in-law, a famous violinist Ole Bull, recommended Grieg to study at the Leipzig Conservatory. From 1858-1862 he studied music in Leipzig under the tutelage of Ignaz Moscheles and graduated with honors. From 1863-1866 Grieg lived in Copenhagen, where he continued his music studies with 'Niels W. Gade'. He made progress towards Scandinavian folk music while being an apprentice of Rikard Nordraak. Soon Grieg emancipated himself from the German romantic tradition and grew towards the development of his original style. Grieg's harmonies became unorthodox, rich, and challenging for a public conditioned to classic compositions of Mozart and Haydn. During the winter of 1865-1866 he was in Rome, where he performed his music and earned a European reputation.
His love of the Norwegian folk culture and traditional melodies became evident in his compositions written after 1866, the year Grieg returned to Norway. He settled in Christiania (Oslo) and established himself as a music teacher and concert performer. At the same time Grieg became the founder of a concert society "Eutherpe" with a choir and a symphony orchestra. His collection of "Lyrical Pieces" for piano made him a fine reputation among musicians. Grieg was called the "Chopin of the North" by Hans Bulow. In 1867 Grieg married his cousin Nina Hagerup, and their only child died being only one year old. His famous Piano Concerto in A minor was completed in 1868 and performed in Copenhagen. With a letter of recommendation from Franz Liszt, Grieg received a state stipend for his studies in Italy and spent a winter of 1869-1870 in Rome. There Grieg performed his music and had meetings with Franz Liszt and other European musicians. His collaboration with Norwegian writer Bjornson also began in Rome. During the 1870's Grieg and Bjornson made several dramatic compositions together. In 1876 Grieg was asked by Henrik Ibsen to write the incidental music to "Peer Gynt", a play about the Norwegian folk hero. Later Grieg made two "Peer Gynt" Suites for concert performances, which scored international success.
In 1872 Grieg was made a member of the Royal Music Society in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1874 Grieg was awarded the state annual grant of 1600 kronen from the Norwegian Storthing. He quit teaching and returned to his hometown of Bergen. There he chose a natural environment for his work. Grieg composed much of his music among the picturesque landscape of forest, mountains, and sea at the Hardanger fjord. There he had a cottage with a Steinway baby grand piano. Grieg's admiration with serenity and beauty of the Norwegian landscapes was the essential part of his music. Grieg wrote music of a distinguished lyrical quality and emotional depth, which he expressed through refined melody lines and sophisticated harmonic changes. His symphonic "Norwegian dances" and "Norwegian peasant dances" allude to Scandinavian folk melodies. The "Peer Gynt" suites and such pieces as "Solvejg's Song" and "Ein Schwan" are characterized with power for creating pictures in the listener's mind, which made them suitable for many film scores.
From 1878-1880 Grieg and his wife Nina, a professional singer, went on a two-year journey. Grieg performed in many cities of Europe. He was giving performances of his Piano Concerto in London during the 1880s and 1890s. Grieg died on September 4, 1907, in Bergen, Norway, and was laid to rest in a mountain cave at his countryside estate in Troldhaugen, Norway. His wife Nina lived to the age of 90 and made Grieg's villa in Troldhaugen into a museum. A concert hall was built nearby to house the annual festivals of Grieg's music.- Director

Composer Evan Evans' sensibilities and knowledge of film, along with his innate musical talent and abilities have afforded him incredible opportunities very early in his career. And, while the son of the legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans (8-time Grammy Award recipient, 31-time Grammy Award nominee and recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievment Award) he is driven by his passion for music and his wish to make proud the father he hardly knew. Evan, at the age of 5, was unaware of his musical lineage when his father died in 1980. He swiftly exhibited his interest in music, taking on the piano at age 6. His passion for music composition formed quickly, and so he began private studies. As early as the fifth grade, he obtained special dispensation to study electronic composition, 20th century composition, and experimental music as an 11-year old at nearby Saddleback Junior College. His talents and artistry were undeniable, and upon entering Middle School, he submitted an original three movement suite for piano in competition for the Disney Creativity Challenge Award. He won. He is still the youngest winner to date to receive this national award for "Best Original Composition". As Evan's interests grew with his artistry, he was particularly drawn to the use of music in the Alfred Hitchcock classic, The 39 Steps, and so, decidedly adopted film and music as his lifetime goal of exploration. At age 12 he received his first truly professional assignment writing forty-two minutes of music for Shark Alert, a Capital Media/Phillips CD-interactive about the evolution of sharks. After writing for radio, television, CD-Rom and CD-i, Evan decided it was time to move to Hollywood to pursue film composing at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), with hopes of scoring his first feature film. Studying, writing, and conducting many times a week with veteran composer Don Ray (Twilight Zone, Gunsmoke), top-notch orchestrator Steven Scott Smalley (Batman, Lonesome Dove, Starship Troopers), and music editor Joseph E. Rand (Gorky Park,Titanic), at age 19, Evan emerged a 'seasoned' composer eager for that first feature film. His break came when he scored the intense, claustrophobic thriller, Killers (Icon Entertainment). Evan pursued further studies at the Nadia Boulanger Institute in Paris - sharing the same pedagogy as Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, and Elliot Goldenthal, among others - and in Los Angeles with Steven Scott Smalley, Clare Fischer, and musical giant Lalo Schifrin Coyote, Evans second feature, revolved around a mistaken identity and the smuggling of immigrants across the United States border. Evan's music exposes the rich, Spanish backdrop for which he very effectively wove a poetic, lyrical and sometimes driving, dramatic score. More recently, Evan's credits include the quirky, dark comedy, Table For One, starring Rebecca De Mornay and Michael Rooker; Tripfall, with Eric Roberts, John Ritter, and Rachel Hunter; and, Newsbreak, with Judge Reinhold, Michael Rooker, and Robert Culp.- Cinematographer
