when we learn true history, we get red eyes
The genocide against and forced relocation of the indigenous peoples of the Americas was initially so that the white people could take the land. Later on it turned to resource exploitation. The Academy Award-winning "Broken Rainbow" focuses on the US's forced relocation of the Diné people - commonly called the Navajo* - with the aim of extracting coal, oil and uranium from the land.
I don't know if I would call this the greatest documentary ever, but only a monster couldn't have sympathy for the Diné people. I recommend it as a reminder of the continued injustices inflicted on the native peoples. Features narration by Martin Sheen with voice-overs by Burgess Meredith and Buffy Sainte-Marie, and music by Laura Nyro.
*The exonym Navajo comes from a Tewa word meaning "farm fields adjoining a valley".
