Fango’s been following the career of La writer/director Chris Fisher (Nightstalker, Rampage: The Hillside Strangler Murders, S. Darko) since he first made a splash on the festival circuit, so we’re thrilled to see him behind the cameras again on a new dark thriller, Meeting Evil, which begins lensing on Saturday in Louisiana. After toiling in TV the last couple of years on such shows as Warehouse 13, Eureka, Hawaii 5-0 and Moonlight, as well as helming the upcoming DVD sequel Street Kings: Motor City, Fisher has assembled a killer cast for Meeting Evil, which he adapted himself from the 1992 Thomas Berger novel. See below the jump for Fisher’s exclusive comments and a look at the house (“the ‘dream home’ for our nightmare,” he says) of the film’s protagonist, average guy John Felton, whose life changes when a disturbed stranger knocks on his door and takes...

Silver Nitrate Films' producer Ash R. Shah has confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores that Ed Harcourt, the British multi-instrumentalist/rock star whose albums include "Strangers" and "Beautiful Lie," has been hired to write the original score for S. Clifton Collins Jr., Cuba Gooding Jr. and Judy Reyes are getting Dirty for writer-director Chris Fisher. The three actors topline the indie feature, which is being produced by Deviant Film's David Hillary and Tim Peternel and Silver Nitrate's Ash Shah. Collins and Gooding play gangbangers who are now dirty LAPD cops trying to cover their tracks in a precinct scandal. Reyes is an Internal Affairs officer. Principal photography began Tuesday. Fisher and Silver Nitrate previously teamed up on last year's The Hillside Strangler and 2002's Nightstalkers. Deviant's credits include Strangler as well as Spun and Dead Birds. Collins recently wrapped production on MGM's Capote, starring opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman, and lent his voice to video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. He is repped by CAA, Fenton Kritzer Entertainment and attorney David Krintzman. Gooding's credits include Radio, As Good as It Gets, and Jerry Maguire. He is repped by UTA and attorneys Jake Bloom and Ralph Brescia. Reyes is one of the stars of NBC's Scrubs. She is repped by Paradigm and Leverage Management.

A remake of the 1974 feature, Yard will star Sandler as a convict who leads a group of prison inmates in a game against the guards -- the role that Reynolds played in the original. Turturro will next be seen in the indie feature The Hillside Strangler. The actor played the long-running role of Detective James Martinez on ABC's NYPD Blue. His film credits also include Mo' Better Blues and Jungle Fever. He and his brother John also are co-writing the script for and will produce The Doorman for HBO. Turturro is repped by Robert S. Clifton Collins Jr. is set to take one of the title roles in the indie thriller The Hillside Strangler for director Chris Fisher. Shooting started earlier this week in Los Angeles. Strangler is loosely based on the events surrounding serial killers Angelo Buono and Kenneth Bianchi (Collins), two cousins who were pimps and hustlers and who murdered 10 women in Los Angeles during a four-month period from 1977-78. The story is told from the point of view of a liberal psychiatrist (Brittany Daniel) who is brought in by the district attorney (Lake Bell) to determine whether Bianchi, a prime suspect who refuses to speak to police, is mentally capable of being interrogated. During the process, the psychiatrist uncovers more than she was looking for. Tom Wright and Michael Haggerty round out the cast, with other roles to be announced shortly, including the role of Buono. Fisher is producing through his Imperial Fish Co. from his own script along with Ash Shaw through his Silver Nitrate. Collins is repped by CAA, Steven Fenton at CMC and attorney David Krintzman. He most recently starred on the big screen in Roger Avary's The Rules of Attraction for Lions Gate Films. He next stars in the HBO film Undefeated opposite John Leguizamo, followed by Renny Harlin's Mindhunters for Dimension Films and Intermedia.
