In “Everything You Want,” the second single from Matt Rogers’ new album Have You Heard of Christmas?, he croons about sending holiday tidings to a former flame — who, as it turns out, he can’t quite remember. “Gifted you my heart and swore a lifetime of my love, you’ve gone away now,” he sings. “Go get everything you want even if you can’t give that from me…all the stuff you like, which I forgot.”
The song, which is also a collaboration with Katie Gavin of Muna, was one of the last he added to the tracklist. The collection began as new recordings of songs the actor and writer has been performing as part of his musical comedy tour of the same name, but Rogers felt it was missing something a little more emo. “I needed a song that went full Pisces,” he says with a laugh. “My...

Comedian Matt Rogers was stoned, wandering the streets of New York City, reeling from a bad breakup, and trying desperately to unlock the lyrics of a song steeped in this heartbreak — that also had to fit on his Christmas album. He had the start of a hook (“Go get everything you want…”) and a core idea, hoping his ex will get everything he wants in life, even if Rogers won’t be the one to provide it. But that was it.

Director Michael Matthews and writer Sean Drummond were drawn to the landscapes of South Africa’s Eastern Cape while traveling their homeland, especially the echoes of classic cinematic western environments. Learning about how its current towns arose — from the ashes of Apartheid-era cities mimicking European capitals by name — only cemented the comparison, each a product of the locals taking control once their oppressors left after their government changed hands and the train lines shutdown. This new frontier became the pair’s setting, their story gelling after seven years of research and development to do right by the inhabitants’ history and struggles. Sprinkle in a bit of legend and lore to create an antihero hidden beneath rage and Five Fingers for Marseilles was born.

Savvy lesbian cinephiles have learned to be on guard whenever lesbian sex pops up onscreen — especially when it’s coming from a straight male director. While gay men are often portrayed as desexualized comedic relief in Hollywood, lesbians are used for hyper-sexual titillation. Viewers eager for a feminist icon in Charlize Theron’s ball-busting “Atomic Blonde” character Lorraine Broughton should keep their hopes in check, but she does exhibit a refreshingly no-fucks-given fluid sexuality.

It was in 2002 when Toby Maguire was crawling up up walls, swinging around New York and after three films Sony moved on to another Spider-Man. Not so long ago Andrew Garfield took over the mantel of Peter Parker and that only lasted two films before yet another re-boot was deemed necessary. Last year one of the highlights of Captain America: Civil War was the introduction of Tom Holland as Spider-Man in the McU for that great fight scene in the airport as Steve Rodgers and Bucky try and make their get away. Next week Sony Pictures will be releasing Spider-Man: Homecoming featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, as his reluctant mentor.
One of Peter Parker's strongest traits is his ingenuity. Many times we have seen him in the past coming up with new technology for his suit, and making improvements on his existing suit. With that said,...

It's probably fair to say that we're all a little confused by the ongoing Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Silver Sable saga at Sony, which also (apparently) includes Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio -- just to cover all the bases. Spider-Man: Homecoming producer (and former top Sony exec), Amy Pascal, recently appeared with Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, and made several claims about these upcoming characters and films would be part of the larger McU...and that caused a momentary glitch in the Matrix.
The video of Pascal and Feige's interview went viral, creating a furor unto itself. Part of the confusion involves whether or not Spider-Man would even appear in these films -- as Lrm recently reported, Tom Holland addressed the controversy and said that he is not in any of these films, nor are they in any way part of the McU, as far as he knows. Pascal has (somewhat) walked those statements back,...

Southern Charm star Patricia Altschul doesn’t mess around when it comes to her “medicine.” Yes, that’s what she calls her drinks. So, when Et visited Patricia at home in Charleston, South Carolina, we had to get a martini tutorial from the “martini master,” Patricia’s butler, Michael.
“He makes the best one,” Patricia gushes. “And believe me, I have tasted a lot of martinis in my day.”
Michael says the “perfect martini” doesn’t really exist, as it’s all up to personal preference. Put otherwise, how strong you want the drink to be. Michael notes Patricia takes hers “down the middle,” which looks to mean a couple shots of gin.

It's no secret that Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are living it up on the Passengers press tour. In just the past few weeks alone, we've witnessed a lot of costar brilliance. Chris has cropped Jen out of all his pictures and shocked with an epic card trick, while Jen has definitely evened the score with her sweet, spray-painted revenge. Oh, and let's not forget her totally endearing Real Housewives meltdown or the fact that the pair savored the opportunity to trade brutal playground insults with one another. But for all the fun and shenanigans, we still see a glimmer of fondness between the costars here and there. Case in point: when we stopped by the Passengers junket earlier this month, we thought we'd try to get a few fun facts that Jen and Chris had learned about each other in all the time they've spent together. Jen immediately offered...

Chris Pratt has been busy promoting his upcoming film, Passengers, but that hasn't stopped them from having a little bit of fun along the way. Over the past few days, the actor has been making a habit out of cropping his costar, Jennifer Lawrence, out of all of his photos, and we can't get enough. "Finally got that selfie with Jen y'all wanted. #passengersmovie," he wrote alongside a snap showing less than half of Jen's face. "Just hanging with my bestie Jen. #passengersmovie," he captioned another of her back. Of course, this isn't the first time Chris has shown us his funny side. He's been known to make us laugh with his signature pose whenever he hits the red carpet. Jennifer Lawrence has staked a claim on being one of Hollywood's most relatable celebrities, but here's an example of one fear we don't share with the Passengers star: we don't think that one day our private parts will turn into a wet sponge. In a video to go along with her stunning Vanity Fair cover, the 26-year-old sat down for a rapid-fire Q&A with the magazine that includes everything from her favorite dinner partner to her guilty pleasures. Of course, because it's J Law, she also reveals that her biggest irrational ("hopefully") fear is contracting the Zika virus, having it turn her vagina into a "wet sponge," and not being able to have kids. In other words, a totally average, everyday, run-of-the-mill fear that We All Now Share. Thanks, Jennifer. Related:Everything You Want to Know About Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt's Romance...

You might have spent your Monday complaining about how tired you were, but Chris Pratt decided to make the most of his day. The Passengers actor visited Seattle Children's Hospital for an afternoon of hanging out with some of the center's excited patients, which he documented on Instagram. He shared a photo of him flexing his muscles with Madisen, a young girl with cancer and "such a beautiful smile," and posed with a boy named Rowan, who Chris noted dressed up as Groot for Halloween. His most emotional post was a photo of him holding two twin boys in the Nicu, who he said reminded him of his own son, Jack. "Ever since Jack's premature birth, we have a special affinity for the Nicu (neo-natal intensive care unit)," he wrote. "Today I spent a little time with Coen and Zion, twins who were born too early only a pound and a half each.

It may surprise you to learn that Jeff Goldblum, star of Jurassic Park, Independence Day and more, has been performing a night club act with a band called The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, since the early 90s. But what may not surprise you is prettymuch everything you want a Jeff Goldblum Jazz night club performance to be. Goldblum has spent years cultivating an aura of the offbeat, the quirkily charming and the just kinda odd for years now, and if you were expecting Brundlefly to put on anything else when up on stage bantering with the audience you’re both crazy and in for a let down. Just a few days ago, Goldblum’s Facebook page uploaded a 90 minute performance, and it’s an hour and a half you’ll almost certainly enjoy if you’re as into Goldblum’s whole schtick as a lot of us are.

Prince William looks on as Prince George greets the queen in July 2015 at Sandringham in England. Image Source: Getty / Chris Jackson In honor of Queen Elizabeth of Britain's 90th birthday in April, her family agreed to do a rare round of interviews about her life and legacy for a BBC film called Our Queen at 90. The documentary features personal footage of the family, as well as candid conversations with Prince William; his wife, Kate; Prince Charles; and many more of their relatives. Among the many sweet things revealed about the queen was something in relation to her great-grandson Prince George, William and Kate's young son. According to Kate, Prince George calls her majesty by the nickname "Gan-Gan." Kate's admission sent the internet into a tizzy, as royal fans around the world reacted to the sweet - and surprisingly normal - level of informality between the royal relations. It turns out,...

Everyone seems to love zombies these days. When I student taught, my eighth graders all wanted to write zombie apocalypse stories, fueled by AMC’s Walking Dead, countless video games, and numerous movies. Of course, to me, a zombie is far more supernatural, far rarer and the stuff of myth and legend. As a result, I’ve never really cottoned to these undead that owe more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead than voodoo tradition. That said, every now and then one of these tales rises to the top and screams for your attention.

For the newest Halo game, Microsoft is chasing after some of that sweet-sweet mobile cash. Halo: Spartan Assault will be released this July for all Windows 8 devices. It’s a top-down game, which means it kind of looks like Mercs except super colorful and futuristic and stuff. Man, remember Mercs? Anyhow, there’s a new trailer for Spartan Assault, which also promises integration with Spartan Ops. Maybe it’ll even integrate with that Steven Spielberg Halo non-tv TV series. Who’s to say? The best and worst thing about the Wii U is that you can’t quite figure out just what, precisely, Nintendo’s new console is trying to accomplish. The Wii had a clear-cut gimmick that became a revolution: Motion sensors and Wii Sports contributed to 97 million units shipped. Off-brand pretenders like the Kinect (a legitimate step forward by Microsoft) and the Move (an embarrassing step sideways by Sony) appeared just in time for motion gaming to look passé.

One year after the first teaser for Grand Theft Auto V offered an impressionistic, semi-inscrutable look at the game’s faux-SoCal setting, Rockstar Games has released a new trailer for the new entry in its beloved open-world crime series. Set to a pumping electric soundtrack, the trailer introduces you to the game’s three protagonists. Michael, a middle-aged ex-criminal, is living the Ray Winstone Sexy Beast life, sitting by the pool and happily living out his retirement. That won’t last. Then there’s Franklin, a young black man just beginning a life of crime, and also Trevor, who is insane.

Recently heralded as showcasing the world’s biggest flash mob in the opening sequence of a movie, Step Up 4: Miami Heat is quintessentially 2012: dub-step, iPads, and a rebellious mob spirit. It also makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, as ferocious choreography binds with bouncing low-riders and optically illusive street art to create an intoxicating mix. Sphere ad: lambasts big siloed agencies
A Melbourne ad agency has launched a campaign to promote itself to clients.
The Sphere Agency has used online video, e-direct marketing and a microsite to push its integrated credentials to medium-sized advertisers with a budget of between $2m and $10m.
The 10-year old agency is also pushing its ‘Everything you want, nothing you expect’ slogan.

Star Trek Faq: Everything Left to Know About the First Voyages of the Starship Enterprise is a new, non-fiction Star Trek book that is meant both for die-hard and casual fans of the original Star Trek series created in the 1960s. Despite the title, the book isn’t set up in a question and answer format, and the book has answers to some questions that have probably only occurred to a small number of people. This book is meant to be a distillation of information published elsewhere, but even at 413 pages, don’t expect technical details like an explanation of star dates or warp drive. There is an obligatory episode guide, but thankfully, the plot synopses are kept short. From my fan perspective, its pages do contain some interesting information that I wasn’t aware of. The author, Mark Clark, is a Star Trek fan, but he is also a film historian,...

Tween dream swagger is all over Justin Bieber's lead Believe single, "Boyfriend." Taking several cues from Justin Timberlake's early post-'nsync work, the track amps up Bieber's credibility as a teen idol and remixes it with the type of production work longtime pop music fans can appreciate.
Lyrically, it sounds a bit silly at times (like when Bieber proposes he and his girl eat fondue by the fire), but Bieber's delivery of the lines proves that at 18, he's willing to take the steps to move forward in the world of pop. Sometimes it seems a little too similar to the way the other Justin delivers lines, but "Boyfriend," co-produced and co-written by Mike Posner, is light-years beyond the sugary sweet "Baby."

HollywoodLife.com consulted with an expert who explains why Courtney Robertson must change her cruel ways with other women if she wants to be accepted into her fiance's home! Not one girl actually felt like she was a close friend to the 28-year-old model, who ended up winning Ben Flajnik's heart. "If Courtney is being truly sincere in wanting to change, she will need to take a good look at the way she deals with other women," Rebecca tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. Bethenny saw ‘Rhony’ as a mere transition to help her launch her empire — not as a goal in itself. And she doesn’t miss her old cast mates in the least!
Former The Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel had a plan to get her own reality show from the very beginning. So when Jill Zarin introduced Bethenny to the producers at Bravo and they asked her to join the cast of Rhony, Bethenny saw this as the opportunity that she needed. “It was definitely a plan,” Bethenny tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “It was definitely something I knew was going to happen. I could see it.”
So when Bethenny joined the cast, she made it a point to “separate from the pack” as she puts it in her new book, A Place of Yes: 10 Rules for Getting Everything You Want Out of Life. “I separated in a sense...

It's not a stretch to say that Bethenny Frankel's life moves as fast as she talks.
Even though our interview earlier this week was via phone, it wasn't hard to paint the picture of what was going on on the other end: Bethenny, holding her ten-month old daughter Bryn, wandering around the office or living room in the small but well-appointed Tribeca condo seen in her Bravo show 'Bethenny Ever After,' conducting the interview in the vicinity of a speakerphone. Bryn was so close I could hear her cooing in the speaker near the end of the interview, so I said hi to her.
Life is non-stop for the former star of 'The Real Housewives of New York City.' In addition to the Bravo show, which is in its second season chronicling her marriage to Jason Hoppy and new motherhood, she...

Bethenny Frankel wore one of her many purple two-pieces this afternoon while on the beach in Miami with her daughter, Bryn. It's Bethenny's latest bikini adventure, after she took Summer surfing lessons and enjoyed her honeymoon with Jason Hoppy nearly a year ago. She and Bryn headed off on a girls-only vacation just a few days ago. Bethenny took time to observe her favorite national holiday, Margarita Day, before sweetly tweeting, "Bryn's cute little bottom in her bathing suit and her sun hat is the cutest, sweetest ever. Having best time!" Bethenny's recharging her batteries ahead of her return to TV in Bethenny Ever After next week, and the debut coincides conveniently with the release of her new book, A Place of Yes: 10 Rules for Getting Everything You Want Out of Life, in March. Two new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows featurettes. (I'm looking forward to the movie, but truthfully, I'm kinda featurette-d out.) Director Bryan Singer talks X-Men: First Class (which he's producing). Nutshell? It takes place in the early 60s when Xavier and Magnetto first meet. And no, contrary to the rumors, Wolverine isn't making a cameo. Everything you want to know about Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, from the mouths of those involved, interviewed by Guillermo del Toro (video). Conan gets a release date: August 19th. A clip from Tron: Legacy. What's Jeff Bridges been doing all these years?

Douglas Sirk, 1955
A Douglas Sirk romance with Rock Hudson and Jane Wyman: you know this isn't going to be a smart-assed dissertation filled with intellectuals swapping barbed, ironic witticisms. Even so, this 1950s melodrama – as underscored by Todd Haynes' modern riff, Far from Heaven – offers smart insights into the American class system and carries a powerful emotional clout way beyond the usual limitations of its genre.
Wyman plays a widow slowly emerging from mourning to embrace the world again, caught between the daredevil impulses which see her step out in a gossip-generating, low-cut, crimson dress, and her deep sense of propriety and responsibility to her children. She rejects a marriage offer from an older man who promises her companionship and affection, but is drawn to her gardener, Ron, who is impetuous, bold, direct and opens wine bottles with his teeth. Everything you want from a tumultuous weepy is here: hard,...

"Glee" star Jane Lynch won an Emmy for her turn as evil cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, but there's one person she thinks could rival her Queen of Mean -- Simon Cowell.
"I think when we do nationals, wouldn't he be a great judge?" Lynch asked "Extra's" Terri Seymour at the "Glee" Season 2 premiere party. Laughing, Lynch added, "Local judge, Simon Cowell."
Or how about Katie Holmes, who recently starred with "Glee" regular Diana Aragon in...

Have you noticed that you don't really hear sad songs topping the charts any more? Not that melancholy ever really spent a ton of time mastering the Billboard Hot 100, but there doesn't seem to be any room for wistfulness in 2010. Look at the songs that have found their way to the number one spot this year: Ke$ha's "Tik Tok," Black Eyed Peas' "Imma Be," Rihanna's "Rude Boy," Usher's "Omg" and Katy Perry's "California Gurls." Sure, Eminem's "Not Afraid" has a bit of angst and B.o.B's "Nothin' On You" is sort of moody, but neither of those tracks approach the level of mope contained within a song like Vertical Horizon's "Everything You Want," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 on this day in 2000.

Matt Scannell is best known as the lead singer and songwriter for Vertical Horizon, the modern pop band who gave us such hits as ”Everything You Want,” “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)” and “I’m Still Here.” But as we discovered when we talked to him at Ascap’s Music Café at the Sundance Film Festival, Scannell’s got a lot more going on. He played two shows at the Café, a solo gig and one with his close friend and musical collaborator, Richard Marx. The two start a new tour together later this spring and their second album together, a live...

Thomas Mai of Festival Darlings who is hosting a conference in Berlin on crowd sourcing says that a filmmaker can expect to make between $50 - $1000 per month per platform (some more, some less). If there are also social media campaigns, this number can increase a lot. A release should go to about 25 -40 platforms, including iTunes/ Amazon/ NetFlix/ Hulu etc. Making a digital master is not expensive, but each platform uses its own format so a filmmaker might need to come up with 12-15 different format versions which can cost about $500 each. The master should cost around $1200-$1500.
