Most people know Rebecca Black from her viral video, “Friday,” but the singer is ready to move on from her reputation as a meme. From a debut album to a new relationship, Black is ready to become a legitimate music industry star.
How ‘Friday’ made Rebecca Black a viral star
Black was just 13 years old when “Friday” was released. The teen was an aspiring pop star and paid Los Angeles record label Ark Music Factory $4,000 to write and produce a single for her, as well as make a music video.
The video quickly blew up online, inspiring parody versions, late night television jokes, and a large amount of online vitriol directed at Black. There were some upsides to her overnight fame, though.

Today is Friday, so let’s check in with Rebecca Black.
If you stopped following the 25-year-old songstress after ‘Friday’ faded from the cultural zeitgeist, then you’ve missed one of the music industry’s most inspiring redemption arcs. More than 11 years after releasing “the worst song ever,” Black is back with her first LP — and the album is getting solid marks from critics and fans alike.
Black’s collection of ten atmospheric pop tunes is titled Let Her Burn. That name can be read as an allusion to all the hate Black received after she recorded “Friday” at age 13. The infamous track was written by the team at Ark Music Factory, but for her new album, Black is penning her own lyrics. She has a writing credit on all of Let Her Burn‘s tracks.
A lot has happened in Black’s life since ‘Friday’ hit its cultural zenith...

Truly original artistic voices are few and far between. When it comes to contemporary genre cinema, a few innovators come to mind when one thinks about the 21st century. Filmmakers like Khavn from the Phillippines, Q from India, Sono Sion and Ujicha from Japan, and Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani from Belgium have carved their own paths through a cinema jungle filled with overwhelmingly similar material. A new voice has emerged to join those ranks over the last few years, Miguel Llansó, a filmmaker whose low budget afro-futurist science-fiction film Crumbs surprised the festival circuit a few years ago. Now Llansó is back with his second feature, Jesus Shows You the Way to the Highway, and it is every bit as bizarre and unique as...

"The Grinder" debuts tomorrow night at 8:30 on Fox as the most promising new network sitcom this fall. Some of that's just by default — as I've said, this is a poor freshman class — but some of it's the fun of watching Rob Lowe (playing a former TV legal drama star who returns home to Idaho to help out the family law practice) at his most cheerfully self-parodying, and much of it is the pleasure of having Fred Savage back in front of the camera in his first regular series role since the short-lived "Crumbs" back in 2006. Savage, like Ron Howard, was a natural child actor as both a little kid (in movies like "The Princess Bride" and "Vice Versa") and a teenager (growing up as the avatar of all things Baby Boomer on "The Wonder Years"), and seemed well-equipped to make the transition into adult acting once he graduated from Stanford.

Someone check on Daniel Stern‘s voiceover availability: Fred Savage is joining Rob Lowe on sitcom “The Grinder,” TheWrap has learned. The former “Wonder Years” star will play Lowe’s younger brother on the 20th Century Fox show. Savage has spent much of his adult life behind the camera rather than in front, though he did star on 2006’s short-lived ABC series “Crumbs.” Also Read: Kevin Bacon’s Investigation Takes a Dark Turn on ‘The Following’s’ Season 3 Premiere (Exclusive Video) The show follows Lowe’s titular TV attorney character, whose long-running hit series comes to an end putting him at a crossroads.

Eddie McClintock photographed by Clinton Gaughran for AfterElton
It's no secret that we're big fans of Eddie McClintock around here. The sexy star of Warehouse 13 has not one, not two, but three photo galleries on our Facebook page, and had us tuning in to the show long before they ever introduced a gay character last year. The former wrestler from Ohio is loudly pro-equality, with a wicked sense of humor that comes from a genuine place in his heart. He recently spoke with me about the show, playing gay on Felicity, growing up in the Midwest, his family, and the created family he now has on Warehouse 13. He even invited us into his home for a revealing photo shoot. This is obviously the beginning of my campaign to have him in our Hot 100 this year.

Exclusive: Actor-turned-director/producer Fred Savage is setting his sights on development next. Savage has launched a production company and has signed a two-year overall deal with CBS TV Studios to develop new projects, which he will produce and direct. Savage, who burst into the scene as the child actor on The Wonder Years, went on to star on such series as Working and Crumbs before segueing into TV directing and recently expanding into producing too. He has directed more than 100 episodes of primetime series, most recently, ABC’s Modern Family and Happy Endings, and CBS 2 Broke Girls. Savage, repped by CAA and Karl Austen, served as director/producer on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Party Down, and is currently executive producing and directing two projects at NBC, mid-season comedy series Best Friends Forever and an untitled Tommy Dewey/Greg Bratman project, now in development.

Eddie McClintock is back as Secret Service Agent Pete Lattimer in Warehouse 13, the second season of which is now showing on Syfy in the UK.
The American actor is also well known for playing Special Agent Tim Sullivan in Bones and Frank Helm in Desperate Housewives. He also had leading roles in short-lived sitcoms Stark Raving Mad and Crumbs.
Here, Eddie talks about the new season of Warehouse 13, his collection of comics and his dream roles.
Are you enjoying your time in the UK?
So far so good, it's really been nice. It's a little rainy, but that comes with the territory right?
Do you have any personal highlights this season?
I would say an episode called Around The Bend. Pete gets infected by an artefact, and this particular role in this particular episode kind of earns Pete the right to be who he is for the rest of the episodes.

We've all had that friendship that was cut short for whatever reason — because your family moved, because you switched jobs, because you were a "greaser" and they were a "soc" — and we're left to wonder: what might have been?
The same is true for gays on television. Television programs are canceled for a lot of reasons, and it's definitely not always because of a lack of quality.
But what if these characters had stuck around a little longer? Who knows what kind of adoring or intimate relationship we viewers might have developed with them?
Here are a few of the folks I'd like to rescue from the Island of Lost Gay TV Characters:
Fred Savage as Mitch Crumb with co-star Jane Curtain
Mitch Crumb (from Crumbs)
If there was ever a show that coulda been a contender, it was Crumbs, a 2006 vehicle for a grown-up Fred Savage (who had become...

Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly have been tapped to star in Sci Fi Channel's two-hour dramedy pilot Warehouse 13, which Jace Alexander is set to direct.
Meanwhile, Paula Malcomson has been cast as the female lead in Caprica, Sci Fi's prequel to Battlestar Galactica.
Warehouse, from UMS, revolves around two FBI agents -- by-the-book Myka (Kelly) and rule-bender Peter (McClintock) -- who, after saving the life of the U.S. president, are relocated to Warehouse 13, a location that houses supernatural objects the government has collected over the centuries. The duo's assignment is to retrieve missing objects and investigate reports of new ones.
Kelly (Vanished) is repped by Domain and manager Joannie Burstein. McClintock (Crumbs) is repped by ICM and manager Ric Beddingfield.
Alexander, who helmed the pilot for USA's Burn Notice, also is directing the MGM film Day One. He is repped by WMA and Fineman Entertainment.
Set 50 years before the events in Battlestar, the UMS-produced Caprica follows the evolution of the Cylon race and the fight between two families.

The ABC network has been announcing its new Fall 2006 schedule this week. As part of that, they've been telling us what won't be returning, much to the dismay of some TV viewers. It turns out that none of the scripted series introduced on ABC last fall will be returning.
Commander in Chief - ABC will begin airing the remaining new episodes on Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Fans of the series will be able to purchase Commander in Chief on DVD in the Fall. I would expect there to be some interesting supplemental materials concerning this promising but troubled series. (Download Commander in Chief on iTunes)
Crumbs - The outrageous comedy with Jane Curtin, William Devane and Fred Savage is not on the ABC Fall 2006 schedule. Five of the existing eight episodes were aired.
The Evidence - This Rob Estes drama shot six episodes (aired four) and has been off the schedule since April.

House was on fire Tuesday for Fox, coming out of another volcanic episode of American Idol. Fox's 9 p.m. medical drama starring Hugh Laurie hit its highest-ever Nielsen numbers with an average of 22.2 million viewers and 8.8 rating/20 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. The 8 p.m. edition of Idol was off the charts, again, with an average of 30.9 million viewers and 12.8/32 in the key demo. The competition couldn't keep up from 8-10 p.m. NBC only came alive at 10 p.m. with Law & Order: SVU (15.2 million, 5.4/14), which easily bested CBS' Love Monkey (6.2 million, 2.5/7) and ABC's Boston Legal (11.4 million, 3.4/9). CBS held up as well as could be expected against Idol with NCIS (15.9 million, 3.6/9) at 8 p.m., but the had little traction against House with a special Tuesday 9 p.m. airing of rookie Criminal Minds (12.6 million, 3.5/8); ABC was no better off with its pairing of According to Jim (8.6 million, 3.3/8) and Crumbs (7.2 million, 2.6/6) in the 9 p.m. hour. For the night, it was Fox, Fox and more Fox with the network averaging 26.6 million viewers and 10.8/26 in adults 18-49.
NEW YORK -- A three-way race for Thursday night's 9 p.m. hour ended with a convincing win by CBS powerhouse CSI, with respectable showings by ABC's Dancing With the Stars and NBC's My Name Is Earl. An original episode of "CSI" averaged 25.5 million viewers and a 8.1 rating/20 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary data released Friday by Nielsen Media Research. That was leaps and bounds ahead of its Big Three competition, the last half-hour of Dancing With the Stars (19.5 million viewers, 5.2/13) and Earl (10.4 million, 5/12). Dancing With the Stars ended with 19.3 million viewers and a 5.1/13 overall between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Its sitcom lead-out, Crumbs, didn't fare as well. It averaged 10.7 million viewers and a 3.1/7 in the demo. Crumbs lost out in the race for second-place in the demo against NBC's The Office, which averaged 8.6 million viewers and a 4.6/11. Fox's The OC averaged 5.9 million viewers and a 3.0/7 in the demo.

Comedy writer-producer David Walpert has inked a seven-figure overall deal with Touchstone TV. Under the two-year pact, which has an option for a third, Walpert will develop new series projects for the studio and will join Crumbs, Touchstone's midseason comedy for ABC, as a co-executive producer. The deal with Touchstone marks Walpert's return to the Walt Disney Co., where he started his career as a Disney writing fellow. The fellowship led to an overall deal with Touchstone TV, which included Walpert working on such series as Ellen and Sports Night, both for ABC.
