Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaThis marked the first appearance of the Bat-cycle in any form. The cycle used was a 1965 Harley Davidson with an attached side-car. Viewers would not see the new version until the movie was released between the first and second season. That new cycle was a custom Yamaha Catalina 250 with a special side-car setup that had a powered go-cart that could detach from the main vehicle and run on its own power. This new Bat-cycle was leased from the company that made it, Kustomotive, for $50.00 per week, with a $250.00 deposit.
- GoofsWhen Penguin's henchmen see the Batcycle coming towards them, they refer to Batman & Robin as "ghosts", something that Robin makes reference to later. But given the great distance the Batcycle was from the henchmen, there is no way Robin could've heard the comment.
- Quotes
The Penguin: Now lets toss the costumes corpses over the pier. To the sharks with them.
[walks around the shooting stand to find Batman & Robin gone]
The Penguin: Great blubbering whale oil! They've evaporated!

SAY NO IT ISN'T SO! BATMAN AND ROBIN D.O.A???
Bulletin! Batman and Robin are shot dead because they have turned to a life of crime! Really? Super smoke and mirrors as the Dynamic Duo pretend they're dead to trap the diabolical Penguin, masterminding yet another million dollar heist.
This is sooo much fun. The Penguin, who thinks he's finally done it, is now driving around town in the old Batmobile, now crowned the Bird mobile. Also he proposes marriage to equally crooked Sophia Starr (played by Kathleen Crowley). The wild umbrella scene with snow ( looks like confetti) is a hoot, however --- catch the Bird mobile and the Penguin being chased by Batman and Robin riding their all new ultra Bat Cycle. The cycle was a Harley Davidson with a passenger compartment, and looking pretty cool.
Comedian Harvey Lembeck plays the Penguin's sidekick called Eagle Eye. Harvey was a staple in the campy 60s BEACH music comedies, playing Eric Von Zipper. Not too long after this episode he appeared in the cult film, GHOST IN THE INVISIBLE BIKINI (1966), starring Boris Karloff. A must for fans.
Note: The Batman theme was sung by the Ron Hicklin Singers, but it was the MARKETTS who first topped the charts with the theme in Feb 1966, peaking at 17, for all your armchair DJs.
Sit back and enjoy this kooky caper. SEASON 1 EPISODE 22 restored dvd box set.
