One of The Simpsons' weakest episodes although remains watchable with its best moments.

Warning: Spoilers
Not everything The Simpsons touched in its prime was gold. There were some episodes which did have lower quality than usual including this one. After reading a romantic novel one night in bed and touched by it, Marge eventually the next day decides that the family should go over their past romantic experiences i.e. through earlier episodes. Many which have had unhappy endings in their relationships with their beloved one.

The title of the episode is virtually exactly what it is. Scenes from earlier Simpsons episodes are heavily used, more likely to outnumber in length of the original scenes of the episode. Examples of recycled scenes include Homer taking a bitten hot dog from a wading pool from 9F06 or Bart, Lisa and Maggie watching an Itchy & Scratchy cartoon "Flay Me to the Moon" from 9F01 with the scene of them laughing and Marge entering the room directly taken from 7G12 with some minor edits such as new dialogue.

Much about Another Simpsons Clip Show is banal. Nothing more than a weak plot dealing with romance which seems irrelevant as The Simpsons embraces more on comedy although with some emotional moments and would have been better if the episode aired sometime in Valentine's day as well as the plot more likely to appeal to,well, the female demographic. The producers of The Simpsons unfortunately have had to produce episodes with scenes of past episodes known as clip shows to save costs by FOX, the main broadcaster of the series, as it was told that they cost about half to make than regular episodes. Nonetheless, this may as well be The Simpsons worst clip show next to 5F24. At least the series' first clip show,9F17, was a superior effort as it was funnier, had a better plot and used flashbacks less. Which including subsequent clip shows other than 5F24 were better.

Easily The Simpsons' worst Sixth Season episode and one of the worst overall in the series' although fortunately, clearly better episodes succeed this one and The Simpsons still went strong afterwards.

We could be so good together

Warning: Spoilers
Its title describe it perfectly and even with the fact that pretty much any clip show of any series should be the weakest episode of its respective Season the previous Simpsons clip show is a really good episode and in my book not the weakest of its Season. This one is not as good as that Season 4 clip show, it does have clever stuff but still it is in my book the weakest Season 6 episode.

Is about love, is Marge after reading The Bridges of Madison County. Pretty much is Marge hearing for the first time about Mindy Simmons and Homer about Jacques, the love stories of Bart and Lisa from NEW KID ON THE BLOCK and I LOVE LISA and the one and only love story worth to remember from THE WAY WE WAS. Hilarious and clever stuff: certainly the stuff with the old Itchy and Scratchy episode ("they pieced it together from old shows, but it seems new to the trusting eyes of impressionable youth").

Self-awareness
safenoe19 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
What I like about Another Simpsons Clip Show is that it personifies the writers' awareness of just how cliched it is to pump out a clip show, and the audience is in for a fun ride, and we love it right init.

SNL alum Jon Lovitz returns as Artie Ziff, and Michelle Pfeiffer returns as Mindy Simmon. Anyway, for me it's the first 10 seasons that are the golden years, with some episodes after that worth watching for sure. Anyway, Another Simpsons Clip Show is better than no Simpsons at all, so I'm proud of the effort that the writers put together and they should be chuffed that The Simpsons has lasted so long.

What a horrible episode!
bazmitch234 December 2018
The main problem with this episode was that Marge and Homer very openingly admit that that they both cheated on each other. WHAT? And when the episode is over, they're just okay, as if nothing happened. Bulls***! Also what ever happened to Mindy? She became an alcoholic and lost her job. Seriously? Just like that? You're gonna give a minor character the boot? Punishing her for being attractive to Homer? Something that wasn't even her own fault! This episode just makes me feel sick.

Writers Did Not Make Deadline
Gerardrobertson6112 March 2018
Whenever I see a episode on a TV show where they rehash bits and pieces from previous episodes to make a new episode, makes me wonder if the writers ran out of time. They showed some classic Simpsons here, like Barney doing The Dream of Jeannie, and bits of the Mindy episode along with my favourite from Season 4. I Love Lisa, but all in all, I would have rather seen a new episode than a hash of old's mixed into a new.

You don't need to extend your show any longer when it lasts 30 seasons
sevskirita14 December 2019
The episode is just editing prior clips together and having maybe a minute of the current characters reacting to those stories. The show even does a meta commentary on it as if self-awareness makes it okay that you feel a need to extend your show with mindless compilations disguised as episodes. One more episode like this and my watchthrough will be over.

not THAT bad
derami1001 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I really can't understand why this episode has such a low rating. Sure it's not one of the best episodes but compared to other Simpson clip shows (All Singing, All Dancing) this one is very good.

The plot is basically that Marge and Homer want to teach Bart and Lisa about love and then all four tell about their own failed relationships, e.g Homer and Mindy.

Most of the episode, as the title suggests, is told in clips of former episodes, all of which far superior to this one, but what I liked about it, was that it had a real message, which All Singing, All Dancing didn't.

So to sum it up: Not great but still worth watching.

Pathetic
doritoarmy4 November 2022
There's maybe 10% new animation here, and that is being generous. Many scenes you will just have characters speaking, there is clearly no attempt at lip-syncing at all, and characters are constantly teleporting around the kitchen table. It's just jarring, this is the kind of thing that The Simpsons would make fun of, and yet they just proudly display one of the laziest episodes of TV I've ever seen. Most of this episode is just mind-numbing, you've already seen all of this, so there's literally no reason to watch this episode. At least the season 4 clip show had the April Fools plot with Homer and Bart. This episode is just nothing, it has no reason to exist. Don't watch this episode.

Not Worth the Effort
Hitchcoc26 May 2022
A clip show is a clip show. I just saw these episodes recently. Since this is filler, I don't have anything to add from the first time I saw these. We will move on from here.

It is THE BEST SELF AWARE CLIP SHOW episode
bulletbill-775447 October 2021
Its a well done parody into itself. The only reason I didnt give it 11 stars is because it is a clip show. There were ppl plenty if reasons for a HAND DRAWN cartoon to do this. And they made it thr best one. And after 30 seasons, a refresher isnt all that bad anymore!
