Best of Season 1!
g-bodyl26 November 2013
This episode marks the best episode of Season 1 in my opinion. The animation is very crisp and clear compared to others and the sound seems to be more fresh. Plus, this film has some really funny jokes and this is the first time we really get to see Krusty the Klown in action and we see Sideshow Bob for the first time. Homer really made me laugh in this episode whether he was in court or hiding within bags of chips.

This episode, "Krusty Gets Busted" has Homer identifying Bart's idol, Krusty the Klown as the robber at the Kwik-E-Mart. Krusty gets arrested and thrown in jail. But Bart and Lisa discover that Krusty made be innocent after all.

Overall, this episode is sharp, clear, and funny. This brings a whole new side to the Simpsons and this episode is proof of a fantastic, long-running series. This is where they began to make things right. I rate this episode 9/10.

The gruesome twosome
snoozejonc16 June 2022
Krusty is arrested for robbing the local convenience store.

This is a memorable episode that introduces several great characters.

The plot is strong and littered with good humour. It unfolds as a tidy little mystery, with a well thought out resolution and opens the door for more material involving these characters.

Krusty and Sideshow Bob have always been two of my favourite concepts from The Simpsons and this introduces them very well. Bart and Lisa also have some memorable moments, along with Apu and Marge's sisters.

It's an 8.5/10 for me but I round upwards.

Great Lessons for Children

Krusty the Clown has appeared peripherally in other episodes, but here is the focus. We also meet Sideshow Bob. Krusty has this television show which is every parent's nightmare. He is crude and manipulative and universally admired by little kids. But one day, while Homer is buying ice cream, Krusty robs a convenience store. He is arrested, but there is more to the story. Lots of really great lines in this one. Krusty is an awesome character.

The Best Of Season 1 - The Cannon, The Cannon.....

Warning: Spoilers
This would be my desert island show, if I could only bring 1 episode from Season 1.

Homer in the courtroom was terrific. I love the video of Homer taking the "cowardly leap" into the heavily salted snacks.

Of course, this is the first episode with Kelsey Grammer as the voice of Sideshow Bob.

Great episode.

Strongest Episode of Season 1
TheNiteFly13 May 2021
Simply the funniest episode from Season 1. Between Krusty's show, which is exactly the opposite of what a kids show should be, and Sideshow Bob taking over the show and making it more educational.......this episode has laughs from beginning to end.

I don't want to spoil anything but if you could only see one episode from Season 1, this would be a great choice.

An enjoyable Season 1 episode

This is an iconic episode, and for all the right reasons. Of course, like most people, the main reason why I enjoyed this episode is due to it being the introduction of the fan favorite/favourite, Sideshow Bob. This episode is a perfect introduction to his character. The only reason it isn't a 10 is that it feels like the beginning portion of the episode drags on a bit long for me.

Best Of The First Season

Krusty Gets Busted

Ultimately, I feel that Krusty Gets Busted is, to me, on a higher level than any other Simpsons episode in the first season. The animation in particular is impressive. Whilst, generally the first season is not perfectly animated, Krusty Gets Busted to me has as much in common animation-wise as the superior season 2.

The direction of the episode is also a high water-mark and has a more cinematic style compared to the somewhat limited format in many episodes. The acting is great, particularly Nancy Cartwright and Kelsey Grammar in his first of many appearances as Sideshow Bob.

My sole criticism of the episode is the sound, which has a problem with occasionally inexplicably reverberating sound. But the episode is still very good and even shows how in celebrity court cases how people can be very quick to choose aside regardless of the number of facts.

Not my personal favourite from Series One, but it's still a classy episode

I can't agree with those saying that this is the best of S1, because there are so many good episodes from this year, and I preferred others.

It is though a very good episode, with lots of good moments, and marks the proper introduction of Krusty and Sideshow Bob, voiced brilliantly for the first time by Kelsey Grammer.

A nice Krusty episode that also happens to be one of the very best of the first season
SLionsCricketreviews12 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
While the general consensus around this episode is that it is the best episode of the first season, which it very well might be, my favourite still remains the early episode, "Bart the General". That said, "Krusty Gets Busted" does a great job of showing that The Simpsons is beginning to find its identity.

At the center, we have one of the early Krusty episodes and get a glimpse of how much Bart idolizes Krusty. While Krusty himself might be an underdeveloped character at this point in the series, Bart is fairly well developed and to see his idol arrested and subsequently found guilty of robbery is surprisingly crushing. It works so well that despite me being aware of the 'twist' ending, it still works superbly as a dramatic point in the story.

To watch Bart and Lisa team up and conduct an investigation into Krusty's arrest was great material. The Bart/Lisa dynamic has always been one of my favourites of the show and here is an early example of just how great they are and can be together.

The episode also manages to work as one about the darker side of the entertainment industry and the underbelly that often exists. Even if it proved to be falsified, the idea that a celebrity idol to Bart like Krusty could be a small time crook is disturbing enough as is the idea of one celebrity (of sorts) framing another over jealousy and contempt. The idea that the entertainment life that is captured on television screens and in front of an audience may not necessarily reflect the behind-the-scenes proceedings is disturbing.

Ultimately however, "Krusty Gets Busted" is merely a very entertaining episode. There's elements that are disturbing but they come together with the classical feel good-ness of The Simpsons. It also proves to be an immensely significant moment for Sideshow Bob who will become one of the show's most brilliant and memorable recurring characters. Why I perhaps don't enjoy this episode more is hard to really understand. Not all the humour (Chief Wiggum, Kent Brockman, Krusty) really works for me just yet and that has largely to do with the feeling of this being the first season and the fact that the voice acting has not found its groove quite yet. The animation though crisper than the early episodes, still lacks the smooth free-flow of the show as it moves forward.

Very enjoyable, a staple of the first season but still does not quite capture the show I love.

Sideshow Bob's episode
safenoe8 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'll never forget watching The Simpsons when it first debuted, and Krusty Gets Busted was one of many quality episodes from season one and set the tone for such a fine series.

Kelsey Grammer voices Sideshow Bob to Krusty the Clown (not Klown) who is voiced by Dan Castellaneta who of course voices Homer. This episode sets the rivalry between Bart and Sideshow Bob, and it's always a treat when Kelsey makes a guest voice appearance in The Simpsons. Anyway, for me in my humble opinion, the first ten seasons of The Simpsons are the ones to watch, although there are some post-season 10 which are worth watching.
