John Cena Once Called Dwayne Johnson’s Decision To Leave WWE For Acting (Picture Credit: Facebook & IMDb)
Dwayne Johnson and John Cena had successful careers in Hollywood, but they became famous WWE wrestlers. However, when Johnson diverted to acting, he received a flak from Cena. The Peacemaker actor mocked The Rock for his film Tooth Fairy, and their feud was all over the media back then. It is now just water under the bridge, and they are reportedly past that. John also regretted dissing Dwayne. Keep scrolling to learn more.
Dwayne started his film career with films like The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King. On the other hand, Cena started his film career with The Marine and did movies like The Suicide Squad, The Wall, Trainwreck, and more. He also had his web series, Peacemaker, in the DC extended universe. The Rock was also part of the old DC universe,...

“Darkness Falls wasn’t much different from any old-fashioned town on the Atlantic Ocean from Nantucket to Key West. Except for one thing.”
That one thing, of course, is Matilda Dixon, better known as the Tooth Fairy. Most horror fans likely recognize this in-your-mouth ghost from her 2003 big-screen vehicle, but what they might not realize is, the movie Darkness Falls was accompanied by a novelization. The first of two media tie-ins — the other being a single-issue comic from Dark Horse — was published by PocketBooks shortly before the movie was released in theaters. And, like in many cases, much of what ended up on the cutting room floor can be found in the novelization.
While novelizations tend to be different from their cinematic counterparts, Keith R. A. DeCandido’s literary adaptation of Darkness Falls stays largely true to the movie. In fact, this book uses a more intact version of James Vanderbilt...

Both John Cena and Dwayne Johnson have successfully transitioned from WWE to acting careers. Before Cena made the jump, though, he had problems with Johnson’s career pivot. Cena frequently accused Johnson of turning his back on the WWE in favor of a film career. In recent years, Cena has apologized to Johnson for his comments, realizing they were both disrespectful and hypocritical.
John Cena criticized Dwayne Johnson for becoming an actor
In the early 2010s, Cena asserted his belief that Johnson’s pivot to acting was a slight to the WWE. Though Johnson eventually announced his return to the WWE, Cena believed he prioritized his acting career.
“Finally The Rock came back and everyone was was getting with it ’till he said I was talking trash but he would never be specific,” Cena said in a rap, per CBS News. “It’s because I wasn’t talking trash, Rock,...

Nobody is playing the Hollywood game like Blumhouse these days. Where the major studios are busy breaking the bank trying to score a win, Jason Blum's production hub has embraced an incredibly cost-efficient model, churning out several low-budget horror films or thrillers within the span of a single year. With box office hits "M3GAN" and "Insidious: The Red Door" already under its belt in 2023, Blumhouse is gearing up for its biggest release of the year with "Five Nights at Freddy's," a film adaptation of the indie point-and-click survival horror game turned lucrative media franchise that's been terrorizing Gen-Zers since 2014. If all goes to plan, the movie could end up being the start of a new trilogy, ensuring that Freddy Fazbear and his fellow animatronic mascots will continue to stalk their victims in live-action for years to come.

Hannibal Lecter… a name that has been cemented forever in the hearts of horror fans alike. We’ve seen him in some truly gruesome, yet unforgettable films. The most well known is The Silence of the Lambs, which was followed up in 2001 with the mostly disliked, self-titled Hannibal. But the very next year, in 2002, we were treated to somewhat of a redemption story of Hannibal Lecter in the form of Red Dragon (watch it Here). Did you know though, that this wasn’t the first time Red Dragon was made? Did you also know that none other than Brett Ratner, of then Rush Hour fame, directed this psychological thriller? Let’s look back,...

If you reside in Canada, there's a good chance you've heard of CTV's brilliant comedy series Children Ruin Everything.
The series, starring Meaghan Rath and Aaron Abrams, has been renewed for a third season after connecting with audiences in a big way.
The CW recognized the show was a gem and has added it to the network's Monday comedy block.
TV Fanatic got the chance to speak with series creator Kurt Smeaton about the show's debut on the broadcast network and what's coming up for fans.
Smeaton revealed Children Ruin Everything was derived from his own experience of being a parent, revealing that he had more kids when the show went into production than when he pitched it.
He said the show has deeply rooted questions about whether having more kids is the best idea.
"I related to the central question. Despite the difficulties of having kids, should we have another one?...

Last month, we shared the news that ITN Studios, the company that brought us Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, is teaming with producer/director Louisa Warren on two fractured fairy tale horror movies: Cinderella’s Curse and Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre. Now Variety and our friends at Bloody Disgusting have gotten their hands on some images that offer a preview of Cinderella’s Curse, and you can check them out at the bottom of this article. One of those images even gives the first look at the film’s “cunning, cruel, and deadly” version of the Fairy Godmother!
Coming our way from ChampDog Films, Cinderella’s Curse was scripted by Harry Boxley. Warren told Bloody Disgusting, “This an incredibly unique spin on the Cinderella we all love and know. There are going to be some truly horrific deaths by her hands. I think the gore hounds are in for a treat in my dark retelling.

Producers/directors Louisa Warren and Scott Jeffrey have worked together multiple times, crafting films about creepy mermaids, scarecrows, and dolls. They’ve even made several horror Tooth Fairy movies. Jeffrey is currently collaborating with Rhys Frake-Waterfield on a series of films that will put a horror twist on public domain children’s stories like Peter Pan, Bambi, and Winnie the Pooh – and it started with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. While they work on that, Warren has announced (via our friends at Bloody Disgusting) that she has two fractured fairy tale horror movies in the works: Cinderella’s Curse and Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre!

Max’s first full month without ‘HBO’ in its rebranded title has a selection that kicks off summer 2023 in fine fashion. Three of the four iterations of “A Star Is Born,” including the most recent remake starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, are streaming on Max in June. The 1954 and 1976 films land June 1, while the 2018 version arrives June 8.
To prepare for Margot Robbie’s performance in “Barbie” come July, one could watch one of her more intense roles as Tonya Harding in “I, Tonya” (2017). For some lighter summer watches, viewers might consider “Dolphin Tale” (2010), “Grease” (1978), “Hairspray” (2007) or “Tooth Fairy” (2010).
“Magic Mike’s Last Dance” (2023) starring Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek Pinault lands at Max after its theatrical release in February this year. Another major theatrical release from 2022, “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022), swims onto the streamer starting June 7.

HBO Max is no more. In its place are…HBO and Max. Warner Bros. Discovery’s big change to its premier streaming service was simply to take the “HBO” off of the name “HBO Max,” leaving just “Max.” But in announcing its list of new releases for Max in June 2023, Warner is highlighting all of the HBO content anyway. So here is everything you can expect to find on Max (including every new HBO show) this month.

This article contains spoilers for "Succession" season 4.
Before he terrorized the planet as the CEO of Waystar RoyCo, "Succession" star Brian Cox played the world's most infamous cannibal: Hannibal Lecter, in Michael Mann's "Manhunter."
The final episode of HBO's "Succession" airs tonight, and fans are eager to see how the torrid tale of the warring Roy siblings ends. Jesse Armstrong's brutal satirical drama about the backstabbing machinations of a media mogul (who definitely isn't Rupert Murdoch) became an instant critical darling and has enthralled audiences from the start. It's a scathing portrayal of the weak-minded bullies and wannabe social climbers who populate the inner circle of a CEO's unimpeachable corporate powerhouse. At its heart is Logan Roy, the merciless businessman who will (and did on multiple occasions) throw anyone under the bus to retain his iron grip on Waystar RoyCo.

William Sherak’s Hollywood career unofficially began at the age of 8, when he’d run call sheets to execs on the 20th Century Fox lot where his dad, the late Tom Sherak, was working as president of marketing and distribution.
Over the course of more than two decades in the business, Sherak has carved his own path — while still very much treating Hollywood like a family business, a mindset he got from his dad.
“My dad genuinely believed for him to succeed other people didn’t have to fail,” says Sherak. “This business is better when everybody’s succeeding. There’s enough audience out there for everybody. I like to think that I work that way too.”

It had to happen sooner or later.
Thomas saw the "Tooth Fairy" right before Abigail's murder, and Abby had promised to tell Chad about it minutes before she was killed. So the fact that Thomas encountered Leo in the tunnels needed to come to light.
That will happen on Days of Our Lives during the week of 8-08-22, but is this another dead end for the investigation?
Chad has this nasty habit of assuming the suspect of the moment is guilty and attacking them.
He tried to strangle a confession out of both Clyde and Lucas. He was gentler with Sarah but got drunk when she called and ranted to himself about how guilty she was.

Blumhouse Productions CEO Jason Blum teased the end of the “Paranormal Activity” franchise in Locarno, where he will receive the Premio Raimondo Rezzonico for Best Independent Producer.
“It has been enough already. That last ‘Paranormal Activity’ movie was terrible,” he says. “Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin” premiered in 2021, with another instalment currently eyeing a 2023 release.
“With ‘Halloween,’ we only had the rights to three movies, so we said: ‘Halloween Ends’! It ends for Blumhouse, at least. With other things, you just have this feeling it’s time to put them to bed. It would come back if some director I love, like Scott Derrickson, said: ‘I have a great idea for a ‘Paranormal Activity’ movie. But it’s not something I want to do [at the moment].”
He will reunite with “Halloween” star Jamie Lee Curtis, however, who signed a first-look deal with Blumhouse while helmer David Gordon Green will move onto “The Exorcist.

This Is Us fans, it appears we’ve arrived at our heartbreakingly final destination.
This week’s episode brings the show’s present-day action right up to the Rebecca-centric flash-forward that got underway in Season 2. And while the Pearson-family matriarch is still alive by the end of the hour, as Kevin warns Randall as he summons him to their mother’s side, “They’re saying it won’t be long now.”

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been entertaining us for almost three decades. The 2021 People's Champion Icon, actor and former professional wrestler got his first foray onto the big screen in The Mummy Returns in 1996. And year after year since, he's given us iconic and remarkable performances like a singing demigod in Disney's Moana, a retired NFL player in Ballers and a nervous doctor in Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. From beloved spinoffs like Hobbs & Shaw and Baywatch to celebrated family-friendly finds like Tooth Fairy and Jungle Cruise, we owe a lot to the funny man and father of three. When he's not starring in popular Netflix films opposite Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot...

Did you know Blumhouse produced "Tooth Fairy"? As in the 2010 fantasy comedy where Dwayne Johnson played an overly aggressive hockey player who got turned into the tooth fairy? Suffice it to say, Jason Blum's production company has come a long way since then (as has The Rock for that matter), evolving into the go-to source for inventive horror movie series and original, daring social thrillers thanks to its low-budget model. It's even branched out into TV with its "Welcome to the Blumhouse" streaming film anthology and prestigious cable shows such as HBO's "Sharp Objects" and Showtime's "The Good Lord Bird."

It’s summer, everyone! And with its relatively sparse list of new releases for July 2021, Hulu seems to be subtlety imploring its subscribers to go outside.
Don’t get us wrong: Hulu’s library offerings get a big upgrade this month. July 1 sees the arrival of great films like Galaxy Quest, Fargo, and Caddyshack. Bill and Ted Face the Music premieres on July 2 and its followed by Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar on July 9. Not bad stuff! It’s just that, outside of the library titles, there isn’t much to go off of.
Hulu’s only major original release this month is the FX on Hulu production American Horror Stories on July 15. As its name implies, the show is a spinoff of American Horror Story and will feature self-contained horror episodes rather than a season-long arc. If you’ll allow this geriatric millennial to deploy one truly ancient meme: “Yo dawg,...

"C'mon, be one of us!" Universal Pics + Gravitas have debuted an official trailer for a comedy titled Queen Bees, a film from filmmaker Michael Lembeck. While her house undergoes repairs, fiercely independent senior Helen moves into a nearby retirement community ― just temporarily. Once inside the Pine Grove Senior Community, she encounters lusty widows, cutthroat bridge tournaments and a hotbed of bullying "mean girls" the likes of which she hasn't encountered since high school, all of which leaves her yearning for the solitude of her home. But somewhere between flower arranging and water aerobics Helen discovers that it's never too late to make new friends and perhaps even find a new love. Of course. The film stars Ellen Burstyn, Ann-Margret, Jane Curtin, Loretta Devine, with James Caan, Christopher Lloyd, Elizabeth Mitchell, Matthew Barnes, French Stewart, Alec Mapa, Marianne Muellerleile, and Courtney Gains. This looks like a boat load of retirement ...

I’ve often extolled the virtues of Proportion Productions here on Nerdly, however they’re not the only low-budget horror game in town… Britain also has Champ Dog Films. Sometimes collaborators of the aforementioned company (on films like the Unhinged remake), Champ Dog Films is led – for the most part – by actress turned producer/director Louisa Warren, whose output has varied wildly in terms of quality and storytelling… for every Curse of the Scarecrow there’s a Tooth Fairy (and its sequel). Thankfully The Leprechaun’s Game (aka Vengeance of the Leprechaun) falls in the former camp. Just. Though the film is not without its issues, mainly down to relying on the tropes of leprechaun lore.

October is officially spooky season and it’s nice to know that some streaming services (*cough*Disney+*cough*) are taking that responsibility very seriously.
For its new releases in October 2020, Hulu is premiering the Marvel TV universe’s first-ever outright horror series. Helstrom debuts on Oct. 16 and follows Marvel Comics character Daimon Helstrom as he struggles against all manner of demonic forces. Another spooky treat arriving this month is Monsterland on Oct. 2. This anthology will feature scary stories from around the country.
On the movie side of things, Hulu is bringing out Clive Barker adaptation Books of Blood on Oct. 7 and Bad Hair on Oct. 23. Thank you, Hulu, for your spooky service.
There are a lot of non-Hulu TV shows of note arriving in October as well. The final season of Homeland will be available to stream on Oct. 26. The premiere of Saturday Night Live‘s 46th season will arrive on Oct.

We’re now just over halfway through September, so let’s turn our attention to what’s coming to Hulu next month. Every October, the streaming service celebrates “Huluween” by adding a bunch of new Halloween-themed content. And this year is no different, with countless classic movies going up on the site that you’ll want to check out to get you in the spooky mood as well as a few notable originals.
These include anthology series Monsterland (October 2nd) and horror comedy film Bad Hair (October 23rd), starring Lena Waithe, Vanessa Williams and Laverne Cox, from Dear White People director Justin Simien. Superhero fans will also want to catch supernatural-themed Marvel series Helstrom (October 16th). The final production from Marvel Television, it’s sadly already doomed to just the one season.

Attention, Tooth Fairy: Jimmy Fallon's daughter, Winnie Fallon, just lost her tooth. The 6-year-old child announced the big news during Tuesday's at-home edition of The Tonight Show. Jimmy was in the middle of an interview with Ciara and Russell Wilson when his firstborn came running in to show off her new smile. "Daddy! I lost my tooth," she exclaimed. The late-night host then expressed his excitement over the major milestone and gave his daughter a big squeeze. The singer and the football player wanted to know all the details, too and asked Winnie how it happened. "Mommy put a string around my tooth," she said. "Then, she tried to pull it out, and then it...

Now, listen… I’m very forgiving when it comes to horror as a genre of film. I’m open-minded, especially when it comes to the low-budget end of things, and while I’ve seen some unforgivable dross over the years, I’ve also been witness to some low-budget diamonds that managed to make something extremely entertaining with a very small, or even… at times, non-existent budget. Tooth Fairy (previously called Toof), is a low-budget horror film that introduces us to the legend of an evil tooth fairy whom rips out teeth. A simple concept, and one that could, on paper, lead to something pretty fun. So, how does this fair?

From Arnold Schwarzenegger to Dwayne Johnson, macho actors who have wanted to take a break from intense action movies have frequently turned to family-friendly comedies that also allows them to reach a more mainstream audience. But starring with a child co-star a third your age and size means you’ll have to wear a tutu or dance like a doofus, maybe fall in something slimy or gross. Wrestler turned action star John Cena is the latest to make this pivot with “Playing With Fire,” opening this weekend. Here are some other examples of this genre of tough guys babysitting kids.
“Kindergarten Cop” (1990) – Arnold Schwarzenegger
“Kindergarten Cop” was not the first (or the last) goofy comedy Arnold Schwarzenegger would make, but only in this one does he berate at a classroom full of toddlers, play with a ferret and teach kids the basics about human anatomy. I would also argue that...

If you’re a rising action star, it’s a rule that at some point you have to do a family comedy as a hardened spy, cop or tough guy forced to look after a little kid. Arnold Schwarzenegger had his turn with “Kindergarten Cop,” Dwayne Johnson had his “Tooth Fairy,” and Jackie Chan had “The Spy Next Door.”
Now it’s Dave Bautista’s turn with “My Spy,” and though it’s an old genre trope, the first trailer for this film as released at CinemaCon is unexpectedly cute.
In the Stx Entertainment family comedy directed by Peter Segal, Bautista is a CIA agent who has to prove himself in order to save his job, only to be made by a nine-year-old named Sophie (Chloe Coleman). She cuts a deal with him to help make her tough and teach her spy stuff, like how to walk away without looking...

Exclusive: Gabrielle Union’s I’ll Have Another Productions has teamed with 5 More Minutes Productions to acquire rights to Tallulah the Tooth Fairy CEO, the self-published children’s book by Dr. Tamara Pizzoli. Black-ish and Boondocks writer-producer Yamara Taylor has come aboard to adapt the story into a live-action modern family comedy.

She’s a clever, diverse and wildly successful businesswoman. The story explores the themes of racial identity, equal pay and the struggle of being a working woman and having it all.

Julie Andrews will be awarded the 2019 Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at this year’s Venice International Film Festival, the festival announced on Friday.
The star of “Mary Poppins,” “The Sound of Music,” “Victor Victoria” and many more will be recognized for her international success as part of the 76th annual edition of the festival. The decision was made by the board of the Biennale di Venezia, chaired by Paolo Baratta, following the proposal made by the Director of the Festival, Alberto Barbera.
“I am so honored to have been selected as this year’s recipient of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement,” Andrews said in a statement. “The Venice Film Festival has long been recognized as one of the world’s most esteemed International Film Festivals. Oscar-winning actress and singer Julie Andrews will be honored by the Venice Film Festival with its Golden Lion award for lifetime achievement.
Best known for her iconic roles in “Mary Poppins” and “The Sound of Music,” Andrews has starred in more than 40 movies, including a memorable performance as Victoria Grant and Count Victor Grezhinski in “Victor Victoria” (1982), which was directed by her late husband, Blake Edwards. He also directed Andrews in “10” (1979) and in “S.O.B.” (1981).
“This Golden Lion is the well-deserved recognition of an extraordinary career which has admirably parsed popular success with artistic ambition, without ever bowing to facile compromises,” Alberto Barbera, the Venice Film Festival’s artistic director, said in a statement.

Back in 2010, the unlikeliest of bonds were made between the bulking frame of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Britain’s own funny man Stephen Merchant after starring in flop ‘Tooth Fairy’. Fast forward 8 years and the pair have remained friends, reteaming on the real-life rags to riches story of WWE female wrestler Paige.
As a producer, this was Johnson’s project from the very start. Whilst stuck in a British hotel room, he stumbled across Channel 4’s ‘The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family’, a documentary on British WWE star Saraya Bevis aka Paige and her family and her big break into the flashing lights of the big ring. Lady Macbeth’s Florence Pugh shows her versatility as Saraya, one of the money spinners for her family’s Norwich based wrestling outfit. A crowdpleaser down to its bones, Fighting with My Family shows the importance of bringing an entertaining perspective to a true story. This tale of a British underdog with major wrestling dreams is thoroughly elevated by the participation of writer-director Stephen Merchant. His brand of dry, off-kilter comedy surges through what is an otherwise inspiring, but by-the-numbers tale of childhood aspirations come true.
The Knight family’s one and only passion is wrestling. From a rough-and-tumble lower-class neighborhood in Norwich, Julia (Lena Headey) and (Nick Frost) found their way out of trouble by dedicating their life to the sport, which is “not fake, but fixed,” evidenced by the real injuries sustained by pulling off greater and greater stunts. This passion has extended to their daughter Saraya (Florence Pugh) and son Zak (Jack Lowden), who learn their craft at a young age and perform matches to a relatively small, but endearing...

Characters, history, sewage - there's a lot to consider when creating a brand new world.
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
Tolkien took twelve years, J.K. Rowling seventeen. Terry Pratchett started the Discworld novels in 1983, and they finished thirty-two years later. George R. R. Martin started A Song Of Ice And Fire in 1991 and it remains unfinished. God managed to build the world in six days, though to be fair he didn’t really do much plotting.

Fox News took heat Tuesday and Wednesday for comparatively slight coverage of Tuesday’s convictions of former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and former campaign chair Paul Manafort.
While CNN, MSNBC and most of the national mainstream media dedicated wall-to-wall coverage, the story was curiously downplayed on Fox, with the channel’s opinions hosts suggesting the news was a nothingburger.
“The difference on a night like Tuesday: Fox’s pro-Trump shows acknowledge the news, yes, but they don’t give it the serious wall-to-wall coverage that it merits,” CNN’s media reporter Brian Stelter scolded in his evening newsletter. “Instead, the shows move on… to safer subjects like confederate statues and Dem ‘extremism’ and the VMAs.”

Ellen Burstyn and James Caan have been set to star in Welcome to Pine Grove!, a romantic comedy set at a senior-living center. Michael Lembeck (Tooth Fairy) is directing a script by Donald Martin. Astute Films, which is co-producing Stx’s upcoming Taraji P Henson-Sam Rockwell pic The Best of Enemies, is producing and financing. Shooting is set to begin later this summer.
The story, from Harrison Powell and inspired by his grandmother’s experiences moving into a retirement community, centers on Helen (Burstyn), an independent widow who moves into the Pine Grove Senior Community and discovers it’s just like high school — full of cliques and flirtatious suitors. What she initially avoids leads her to exactly what she has been missing: new friendships and a chance at love again with newcomer Dan (Caan).
Powell is producing with Dominique Telson and Fred Bernstein, with Rick Jackson and Claudine Marrotte executive producing.
