This revival includes new core characters, including Harry Wilson, played by five-time Emmy nominee Noah Wyle, and Breanna "Bree" Casey, played by Aleyse Shannon. They are joined by original cast members Beth Riesgraf reprising her character as Parker, Gina Bellman as Sophie Devereaux, and Christian Kane as Eliot Spencer, who will all be series regulars. Aldis Hodge also returns as Alec Hardison in a recurring role, subject to availability from his Showtime series City on a Hill, whose Season 2 will likely be filming at the same time as this series.
In a June 2020 interview with Assignment X about the TNT TV show, executive producer Dean Devlin confirmed that Leverage is being revived for IMDBtv with some big changes. He also revealed the new season will have the same structure as the first season of Leverage (2008) and IMDbtv has ordered 16 episodes.
This revival of Leverage (2008) brings in Noah Wyle, who previously starred in The Librarians (2014). The original "Leverage" series advertised "The Librarians" at least twice; one of those times a bulletin board was seen behind the cast with Noah Wyle on it. Both series were produced by Dean Devlin and originally shown on TNT.
While the original Leverage (2008) centered on a crusade to avenge the death of a child, this series is propelled forward as a redemption story of misdeeds that need amends.
This series serves as a sequel/revival of the original Leverage (2008), which was canceled by TNT in 2012 (albeit, with a finale that left the door open to future spinoffs).
