It looks like Timothy Olyphant shall be the chosen one.
The Hitman star is set to voice the terse, redoubtable Terminator – the epic character once portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator franchise – in the forthcoming anime series, Terminator Zero.

While replacing the legendary 76-year-old star is no short of a mammoth feat, fans seem to be excited about Olyphant’s casting as the voice actor for the cyborg assassin. At least half of the pressure must be alleviated for him after having secured the fandom’s support, and as for the other half, we’ll soon find out.

It’s been a year since Justified made a TV comeback with the revival Justified: City Primeval, and despite praise from fans and critics, there has been no news about another return for Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) and Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins). As fans will recall, Boyd resurfaced in the finale episode of the 2023 revival, which hinted at a possible reunion between Raylan and him, but will we ever see it happen? Goggins certainly would like to as the actor opened up with TV Insider on the red carpet at Gotham’s inaugural TV Awards. “Oh yeah, everyone wants to do another lap of Justified,” Goggins said. But wanting to do more is easier said than done as he added, “It’s just a matter of timing and whether or not FX wants to pick it up.” Still, Goggins isn’t losing hope as he revealed, “I know that in their hearts they want to.

Despite negotiations for a fifth season of Walker, the limited budget became an insurmountable obstacle to filming the next season, even though the series is one of the most popular projects on the network.
The CW has officially canceled Walker, the release of the fourth season of which is now in full swing and the final episode of the project will be released on June 26.
If you still need a dose of quality western in your life, then at least one of these ten projects will definitely appeal to you.

Last Thursday, FX confirmed that its adaptation of James Clavell’s “Shōgun” will continue past its first season and thus compete as a drama series rather than a limited one at the upcoming Emmys. Since it had spent the preceding three weeks as Gold Derby’s predicted Best Limited Series winner and was expected to reap several acting nominations, every drama and limited race was shaken up by its reclassification – and the dust still has not settled.
Within 48 hours of the “Shōgun” shift, our 2,500+ Emmy predictors came to the consensus that it will be nominated for Best Drama Series and all of the corresponding main acting awards. Even lead actor Cosmo Jarvis and supporting actress Moeka Hoshi, who never quite managed to reach predicted nominee status before, quickly broke into our forecasted drama lineups. How do Hollywood creators forge massive universes for their characters? For Ronald D. Moore, executive producer of “For All Mankind” and “Outlander,” it all began with the question: What if the Russians landed on the moon first? From this starting point, “For All Mankind” was born. Moore and his team explored their alternate timeline, weaving cultural, societal, and political shifts with historical events, crafting a rich universe for the Apple+ TV series.
Diving deeper into the intricacies of world-building for Variety’s Sony FYC Showcase, Moore was joined on the “Building a Television Universe” panel by “For All Mankind” co-showrunners and exec producers Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, as well as Maril Davis, who serves as an exec producer on both “For All Mankind” and “Outlander.” Also on the panel: “Justified: City Primeval” co-showrunners and exec producers Michael Dinner and Dave Andron, as well as Sony Pictures TV drama development exec VP Andrew Plotkin.

Were Justified Stars Not Speaking by End of Series? Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins Each Share POVs
Raylan Givens and Boyd Crowder “dug coal together,” but by the end of Justified‘s six-season run, Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins weren’t exchanging many words together — to hear at least one of the actors tell it.

Ready to make your 2024 Emmy predictions for Best Drama Supporting Actress? Before you do, take a look through our photo gallery featuring the likeliest contenders. Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”) being the only 2023 nominee eligible to return puts her in the frontrunner position and leaves the remaining slots open to a bevy of formidable newcomers and past hopefuls.
This year’s supporting actress candidates will not have to fend off reigning champ Jennifer Coolidge of “The White Lotus,” which is set to return in 2025 with an almost completely fresh cast. All nine acting nominees from the show’s most recent season are presumably finished playing their roles, as are 2023 featured female competitors Rhea Seehorn and J. Smith-Cameron from the concluded series “Better Call Saul” and “Succession.”

South Australian Anthony Frith’s close encounter with “Sharknado” prodco The Asylum in “Mockbuster” is among five handpicked titles to be showcased at the Adelaide Film Festival Goes to Cannes showcase, held at Cannes Marché du Film on May 17.
The five works in progress range from queer adult anime, comedic doc, and traditional non-fiction to family dramas, helmed mostly by newcomers, and reflect the dynamic filmmaking community of Southern Australia, set to tempt potential co-financiers in Cannes.
So far two titles have received international backing. “Mockbuster” has been pre-sold to Giant Pictures and Drafthouse Films for North America, on top of domestic distribution in Australia via Umbrella Entertainment; Kelly Schilling’s drama “With or Without You,” handled locally by Icon Film Distribution, has been picked up by global sales agent LevelK.

In the absence of reigning champ Kieran Culkin (“Succession”), whose show ended last May, possible category newcomer Gary Oldman (“Slow Horses”) has emerged as the clear frontrunner.
The only 2024 hopeful who has previously been recognized in this category is Timothy Olyphant, who received a 2011 bid for the role he currently plays on “Justified: City Primeval,” a continuation of “Justified.” The list of candidates also includes outside winners Donald Glover (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith”; formerly of “Atlanta”) and Paul Giamatti (“Billions”; “John Adams”).
Actors like Oldman and Giamatti who are looking to land their first nominations for multi-season series include Tom Hiddleston (“Loki”), Morgan Spector (“The Gilded Age”), and Dominic West (“The Crown”). As you prep your 2024 Emmy predictions for Best Drama Actress, make sure you check out our photo gallery showcasing the likeliest contenders. None of last year’s half dozen nominees – including winner Sarah Snook (“Succession”) – are eligible this time, leaving plenty of slots open for both newcomers and past hopefuls.
All of Snook’s 2023 challengers differ from her in that their shows are still in production (albeit delayed until at least late 2024). They are Sharon Horgan (“Bad Sisters”), Melanie Lynskey (“Yellowjackets”), Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Bella Ramsey (“The Last of Us”), and Keri Russell (“The Diplomat”).
With all of those actresses out of the running, the current race leader is Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), who was recognized for the same series in 2020 and won Best Comedy Actress for “Friends” in 2002. This post contains spoilers for "Fallout" season 1, as well as "Justified" and "Justified: City Primeval."
If you watched "Fallout" this weekend and half-expected Deputy U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens himself to stroll across the show's post-apocalyptic wasteland, you're not alone. Despite not actually sharing a casting director with the FX neo-Western "Justified," the first few episodes of the new Prime Video series feature not just one or two but four different actors who previously appeared on the Kentucky-set drama. That's a whole lot of Harlan for one video game adaptation.
Walton Goggins, who stars in "Fallout" as the actor-turned-undead gunslinger known primarily as the Ghoul, is the most obvious connection between the two shows. On "Justified" and its recent follow-up series "Justified: City Primeval," Goggins played smooth-talking man in black Boyd Crowder, who spent most of the original show's six seasons at odds with Timothy Olyphant's lawman. The folk music legend is regarded by many as the most influential songwriter of the last 60-plus years, and, at the age of 82, is just as relevant today as he was in his rebellious young adulthood. He pricked the nation's conscience in the early 1960s with classic protest anthems like "The Times They Are a-Changin'," "Blowin' in the Wind" and "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall," inspiring many a teenager and twentysomething to pick up an acoustic guitar and sing their truth. Then, in what his folkie colleagues/admirers took as a betrayal, he went electric. This would be the first of many confounding transformations. In a way, he kept throwing fans off the scent of the big "Who is Bob Dylan?" question by, every few years, getting...

FX’s John Landgraf’s annual tally of original series has revealed that there were 516 scripted titles on air in 2023, which was a 12% drop from 2022.
This marks the first reduction in scripted series in over a decade, since Landgraf and his team have been keeping score, outside of 2020’s Covid year.
It is notably down on the 600 shows that aired in 2022, which itself was a 7% rise from the year before.
Landgraf, speaking at TCA, joked that he was “finally correct” when it comes to peak TV. He said that it proves that even a broken watch is right twice day.
It comes 12 months after Landgraf predicted that there would be a “strong” indication that there would be a decline last year. While he was wrong a couple of times before, the exec has been proved right this time.

Ava DuVernay says that while “it’s been disappointing” her film Origin “hasn’t had the reach in the Hollywood community” during awards season, she is proud of the “overwhelmingly positive, overwhelmingly connected” response it’s garnered from those who have embraced it.
Starring Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, Audra McDonald, Niecy Nash-Betts, Nick Offerman, Blair Underwood and more, the Neon film is produced, directed and written by DuVernay, based on Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. The film adapts Wilkerson’s analytical exploration of how caste can serve as a framework for understanding American racism — alongside the caste systems of India and Nazi Germany — into a biographical drama that has been called poignant, ambitious and possibly “the most important biopic of a book ever made.”

Exclusive: Angelina Jolie is getting into this year’s Oscar race.
As AMPAS voting enters its final days, the Academy Award winner today threw her support behind Ava DuVernay’s Origin in what looks to be doubling down by any other name.
First of all, Jolie held an invite-only get together at her home Sunday to around two dozen guests With DuVernay and Origin star Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor in attendance, Jolie spoke passionately about the film, sources say.
Multiple Emmy and Tony winner Debbie Allen and Frances Fisher (Actors branch) were there too. Old Guard 2 director Victoria Mahoney and Professor Marston and the Wonder Women helmer Angela Robinson (Directors branch) and Lost in Translation costume designer Nancy Steiner (Costume Designers branch) were also present, I’ve learned.
Sunday’s soiree is to be followed by a screening of Origin in West Hollywood tomorrow afternoon with Jolie moderating an on-stage panel with director/writer DuVernay and Ellis-Taylor.

“It was really an attempt not to go back to what we’d done, not to reboot ‘Justified,’ but to kind of catapult Raylan into this world, into this other show, another series called ‘City Primeval.’ And we had a ball doing it,” remembers “Justified: City Primeval” showrunner Michael Dinner about revisiting the character of Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), the deputy US marshal last seen when “Justified” ended its original run eight years ago. We talked to Dinner as part of our “Meet the Experts” TV showrunners panel. Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Disney is rethinking all of its linear channels these days, and outright sales of ABC and other networks have also been discussed.
Disney’s evolution when it comes to its strategy surrounding its linear channels over the past year has been well-covered. Once the crown jewel of Disney’s entertainment segment, its TV networks are all losing viewers at an increasing rate, leading CEO Bob Iger to stunningly say over the summer that they might no longer be core parts of Disney's business.
A new report from the Wall Street Journal indicates networks like History Channel and Lifetime could be folded into A&e Networks. A&e Networks is Disney’s joint venture with Hearst Television, so moving these channels would help Disney cut costs. Disney may attempt to cut costs and take whatever other measures are necessary to keep the channels that contribute to its streaming platforms Disney+ and Hulu in operation the longest.

Spoilers for Justified: City Primeval. Timothy Olyphant returned as Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens for a new Justified series based on Elmore Leonard’s crime novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit. While the story of Justified: City Primeval was largely self-contained, it did leave a pretty big door open for a possible season 2 featuring the return of a fan-favourite character.
In the closing moments of the Justified: City Primeval finale, we catch up with none other than Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins), who is able to escape from prison after faking an illness and seducing a guard. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Justified: City Primeval showrunners Michael Dinner and Dave Andron were asked if this meant that a second season was in the works.
“Everybody would like to, but it’s up to the network,” Dinner said. “Because it’s not about City Primeval, we would only want to...

Thanks to Hulu’s 30-day free trial, you can binge all three seasons of ‘Only Murders’ and much more at no cost.
The writers’ strike is over, so TV is back, right? Not so fast, eager viewer. Late-night talk shows and similar programming might be back on the air, but with Hollywood’s biggest actors’ union on strike, it’ll still be quite some time before scripted TV makes a meaningful comeback to airwaves.
Until then, customers will have to rely on streaming libraries to fill in their programming gaps. Hulu has a fantastic way for new subscribers to do this: its 30 day free trial, which is one of the most generous available from any streaming service. Looking to stream the latest season of “Only Murders in the Building” with Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez and Meryl Streep? All episodes are now available, and thanks to Hulu’s 30-day...
