Sex & Nudity

  • Flanders and Barbara are shown passionately kissing. However, they both stop after Ned realizes that Barbara is cheating his husband: Sideshow Mel.
  • References to an open marriage

Violence & Gore

  • Pretty violent, more then the show is normally and even more violent then the THOH specials, but not violent as Family guy and Rick and Morty.
  • Flanders and Homer fall off a rocky hill and crash into a fallen log. Probably the least violent scene in the episode since is more in the vain of slapstick rather than realistic violence.
  • Kostas' goons staple Comic Book Guy's ponytail into the wall and destroy some of the collectables found in his store.
  • The most violent scene is doughnut shop dhootout

Profanity

  • One uses suck, God-Wad, & 3 uses of Hell /God in Vain.
  • Homer said Crap 7 times while falling down the hill.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Homer goes on a drunken rant towards Flanders after he donated the money they found on the log at the beginning of the episode.
  • Afterwards, Homer is thrown into the "Drunk Rink", in which other intoxicated citizens are seen. Although, this is played for jokes as Homer and the other citizens over drank eggnog, not alcohol, thus not actually drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The tone of this episode is alot darker than the usual Simpsons or Treehouse of Horror episode. There's still some comedy sprinkled around it but there is usually a feeling of tension, suspense and shock present that it outweights the lighter moments.
  • The violence in the episode can be pretty grim and disturbing to younger and sensible viewers.
  • Overall, this is one of the more mature episodes of The Simpsons, rather than dealing with more real topics, featuring more jokes and sequences, or parodying something, the tone of the episode is more aligned for a more older audience, or younger viewers that are mature enough to understand the violence. A pretty deserving episode of it's TV-14 (DLSV) rating.
  • Violent enough for a TV-MA-DLSV

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • At the beginning of the episode, The Rich Texan gets shot multiple times by Kostas Becker's goons. Blood splatters on the screen.
  • Later on, Kostas' goons are seen disposing of The Rich Texan's body. Dismemberment is shown, aswell acts such as disolving body parts in acid, pouring liquid nitrogen into an arm and afterwards smashing it with a hammer and putting The Rich Texan's head through a ham slicer. Pretty gory.
  • Kostas' goons paralyse Homer using a taser.
  • Kostas Becker after being threatned by Fat Tony and his associates, he retaliates by stabbing Fat Tony with a fork, splash hot coffee on Louie, hits Johnny Tightlips on the throat with a menu and stab Legs' eye with a salt container.
  • This afterwards evolves in a shootout between Kostas Becker and the mob.
  • Disco Stu gets used as a human shield in which he is shot multiple times, blood splatters all over the floor, afterwards in a change of perspective he falls into a table where blood splatters onto the screen and a blood pool generates.
  • Mr Burns' head explodes after being shot, however, no blood or gore is involved since it's more of a comedic dust/powder explosion.
  • Kostas shoots Louie, Johnny Tightlips and Legs in the head killing them. Legs' death is alot more gruesome since we see his corpse immediately with blood pouring out of his blown off eye socket.
  • Kostas drags Fat Tony through a kitchen and kills him by putting his head on a deep fryer. All of that is not shown but instead heavily implied.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Even though this episode and the next is not canon (Meaning that none of the events will carry to the show's status quo), some of the character deaths can be shocking.
  • The Rich Texan's death is extremely shocking, tense and disturbing.
  • The Shootout at Lard Lad's is the most intense and shocking sequence in the episode. Viewers might get disturbed or upset with the bloody violence shown or with some of the characters' deaths. Though the mood of the viewer might ligthen up with the sequence of Snake's reaction to the aftermath.
  • Marge's portion of the story can be a bit upsetting for some viewers, with her urgency of finding Homer when he dissapears after having another discussion (though the viewer knows that Homer was kidnapped by Kostas and his goons) aswell her involvement at the Lard Lad shootout.
