Marvel Studios is said to be very close to announcing a writer (or writers) for the long-awaited X-Men movie, and we may know which scribes have emerged as Kevin Feige and co.'s top picks to pen the reboot.
According to Jeff Sneider on the latest episode of The Hot Mic, Rafe Judkins and Michael Lesslie are in the mix to write the script. He believes these two are the finalists to land the gig, but notes that other writers may still be in contention.
Judkins previously worked on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Tom Holland-led Uncharted movie, and more recently served as the showrunner for Amazon’s Wheel of Time adaptation. Lesslie, meanwhile, penned the screenplay for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and 2016's Assassin’s Creed movie.

Thunderbolts* remains one of Marvel Studios' most mysterious and intriguing upcoming movies, with that asterisk only serving to heighten anticipation for a project many believe is secretly Dark Avengers.
There are perhaps a few too many heroes on the team for that to happen, with it currently looking a lot like a sequel to Black Widow and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
In the latter, Bucky Barnes was fully freed from his Winter Soldier programming and now seems to be working with the CIA as part of this government-approved team. Rumour has it his role in Thunderbolts* isn't massive, leading to concerns this could be where the hero's story ends.
We'll see, but a new set photo has surfaced today showcasing Bucky's overhauled appearance.
He's not suited up but is wearing a traditional suit and rocking a pretty mean goatee. Is he undercover or just shaking up his appearance?...

“I’m much more comfortable being the underdog,” Kevin Feige recently told Empire.
If anyone has lost the right to call themselves an underdog, it’s got to be Feige, right? After all, he’s the head of Marvel Studios, the architect of a film franchise that dominated box offices for over a decade. He’s a key member of Disney’s corporate empire, a byword for a producer who knows how to please fans and executives alike.
Why in the world would he use that word to describe himself? Well, you don’t have to look much further than recent Marvel movie reviews and disappointing box office showings to find the answer. A degree of superhero fatigue has set in, and audiences no longer automatically line up for an increasingly unwieldy number of new Marvel entries.
Sure, some dedicated fans will disagree, but Feige clearly knows and accepts the truth.

Captain America: Brave New World is less than a year away from hitting theaters and, if we're really lucky, a trailer might be attached to Deadpool & Wolverine later this summer.
In the meantime, a new still from the movie has started doing the rounds on social media - seemingly from Empire - which features Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), director Julius Onah, and Xosha Roquemore's mystery character.
Cap is suited up and appears to be in a war room. As for Roquemore, it's previously been reported that she's playing Leila Taylor. Introduced in 1971 and created by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr., she was Sam Wilson's girlfriend but faded into obscurity in the early 2000s.
On the page, Leila was a journalist who fought for equal rights and eventually worked for The Daily Bugle. This version looks like she might work for the CIA or be a Secret Service agent,...

Disney and Marvel Studios had a tough year in 2023. Many of their movies didn’t do well, and the TV shows got mixed reviews. It was the first time in a while that Disney didn’t have a billion-dollar movie, and Marvel’s “The Marvels” became the lowest-grossing movie in the MCU, not even making $100 million domestically.
Recently, they found out that most of Disney’s movies were on the list of biggest box-office flops, with “The Marvels” losing a staggering $237 million. While it might not seem like much for such a big company, it prompted some big changes.
When ‘The Marvels’ came out, Iger said the studio would prioritize quality over quantity going forward. Brad Winderbaum, head of animation, mentioned they had a new plan, implying not everything in development will be made. Now, Disney’s CEO reiterated to THR what he said six months ago: there will be...

2023 turned out to be disastrous for Disney and for Marvel Studios. Most of their movies flopped, and TV shows were met with mixed reviews at best. Disney concluded its first year in a long time not having a billion dollar movie, and Marvel Studios concluded the year with ‘The Marvels’ which is officially the lowest-grossing movie in the MCU, and the first movie not to break the $100 million threshold at the domestic box office.
Recently, the list of biggest box-office flops was revealed, and most of Disney movies were on it, with ‘The Marvels’ losing an eye-watering $237 million dollars on a single project. This seems like a drop in the bucket for one of the most powerful entertainment and media companies in the galaxy, but it was enough to prompt some drastic changes.

Marvel Studios Co-President Louis D’Esposito and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige are addressing the rough patch the studio has been through over the last few years.
“If we just stayed on top, that would have been the worst thing that could have happened to us,” D’Esposito said in an interview with Empire. “We took a little hit, we’re coming back strong.”
He continued, “Maybe when you do too much, you dilute yourself a little bit. We’re not going to do that anymore. We learned our lesson. Maybe two to three films a year and one or two shows, as opposed to doing four films and four shows.”
D’Esposito is talking about “superhero fatigue,” which Disney CEO Bob Iger acknowledged in today’s earnings call. The plan going forward with Marvel Studios is to release “two good films” a year, possibly three, and cut the number of TV series spinoffs.

How much Marvel is too much? That question has hung over the MCU for more than five years, since Avengers: Endgame gave viewers an easy jumping off point. In that time, Marvel has released 25 movies, TV series, and specials, few of them pleasing all but the most committed fans.
It’s no surprise that, since he came back as Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger has talked several times about reducing MCU output. He hasn’t offered much in the way of specifics until now, but that still raises questions about the franchise’s future success.

Disney has been trying to get back on track as their acquired properties have taken hits over the years. Marvel Studios is a big brand that audiences have voted against with their wallets lately. With projects like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels underperforming at the box office, many people debated whether superhero fatigue had finally set in. When Bob Iger returned to run the House of Mouse, the CEO had voiced his concerns over the quantity of material that Marvel and Star Wars had been releasing. He had also championed films focusing on story rather than messages.
Iger had long pledged to reduce the number of projects that Marvel and Star Wars produce. According to Variety, in the company’s quarterly earnings call on Tuesday, the CEO said, “We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of...

Whether you happen to enjoy Marvel Studios' more recent projects or not, it's hard to argue with the perception that the MCU franchise is far from the unstoppable juggernaut it once was.
With the likes of Eternals, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels underperforming (and receiving mixed/negative reviews), Disney recently decided to implement a "quality over quantity" approach, and CEO Bob Iger has now announced plans to reshape the MCU slate by reducing the studio's annual big and small screen output.
Going forward, we will see no more than 2-3 movies and 2 TV shows per year.
“I’ve been working hard with the studio to reduce output and focus more on quality, that’s particularly true with Marvel,” Iger said during Disney’s fiscal Q2 earnings call. "We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four,...

Disney CEO Bob Iger says Marvel will continue its “less is more” strategy, with two TV series released per year and a maximum of three films in cinemas.
Disney head honcho Bob Iger has said in the past that he wants the companies under his banner to operate on a quality-rather-than-quantity basis. It’s something he’s iterated again in a quarterly earnings call with investors, specifying that he wants Marvel Studios to release no more than two or three films a year. It’ll take a similarly restrained approach with its TV output, he’s said.
“We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two, or a maximum of three,” Iger said in quotes shared by Variety. “And we’re working hard on what that path is.

During the Walt Disney Company earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger answered a question about the issues with Marvel. Recently, Marvel films and shows have declined, with ‘The Marvels’ being a theatrical black eye and loss for the company.
Bob Iger stated they had already thinned out the number of planned shows. Marvel plans to increase quality and reduce output on the number of Marvel films and shows.
Iger also stated that output reduction will mean only two or three Marvel films annually. However, he seemed to lean toward the idea of more sequels, and he kept mentioning “mining IP” regarding films and shows that Disney would release in the future.
When asked about the losses to the studios in the film segment in general, Disney answered that it’s “cyclic” and that they don’t want to talk about one segment in detail, which sounds dismissive and a bit concerning,...

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is the upcoming 4th movie in the MCU’s ‘Captain America’ franchise. Despite the fact that Steve Rogers left the MCU on a high note, the show must go on so the shield was handed over to Sam Wilson, this fact alone highly divided the fandom.
Plenty of fans were outraged and confused that the former Falcon would be assuming the mantle of Captain America, due to Wilson’s lack of superpowers and enhanced physiology.

Julius Onah, director of the upcoming superhero flick has a different take on the situation, he claims that this fact alone is what makes Wilson’s Captain America all the more exciting. The fact that he doesn’t have an advantage and that he can bleed and get hurt will present us with some truly amazing action sequences. ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is the fourth installment in the MCU’s ‘Captain America’ series. Even though Steve Rogers retired from the MCU on a high note, the story continues with Sam Wilson taking up the shield.
This change has split the fandom—some fans are upset and puzzled by the decision to have the former Falcon become Captain America, especially since Wilson doesn’t have superpowers like Rogers did.
Julius Onah, director of the upcoming superhero film, has a unique perspective on the matter. He believes that the absence of superpowers is what makes Wilson’s Captain America particularly thrilling. The idea that he’s vulnerable and can be injured will lead to some incredibly dynamic action scenes. Onah shared his thoughts in the latest issue of Empire’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’.

Edward Norton’s The Incredible Hulk was not as bad of a movie, nor was Norton a bad Hulk. In fact, many Marvel fans would love to have him as the Green Goliath instead of MCU’s Mark Ruffalo. Since the past decade, fans have been wanting to see more of the meaner and scarier Hulk instead of Ruffalo’s toned-down, friendlier version that we got in recent years.
Edward Norton’s Hulk in The Incredible Hulk
So while fans might never get Edward Norton’s version of Hulk back, a notorious villain from the movie will be making his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Known as Mr Blue, Samuel Sterns will be the antagonist in Harrison Ford’s MCU debut film, Captain America: Brave New World.

Marvel has plenty of projects bound to be released in the next few years, and we know that most of these projects have been stuck in a sort of limbo due to the historic SAG-AFTRA strike that paralyzed the whole industry as a whole, causing plenty of projects to be both delayed or altogether canceled.
One extremely anticipated Marvel Studios project that had problems way before the strikes began is ‘Blade.’ It is an McU-based movie following Eric Brooks, the most notable vampire hunter in comics, and a reboot of the already highly popular ‘Blade’ trilogy that contributed to paving the way for the MCU that we know today.
‘Blade’ had hellish production so far, and it was delayed who knows how many times. The most recent rumors indicate that the movie will be delayed once again. This time from November 7, 2025 release to unspecified 2026 release.

Marvel has a bunch of upcoming projects, and many of them got caught in the mess of the big industry strike. This strike caused delays or even cancellations for lots of projects.
One of the highly anticipated Marvel movies, ‘Blade,’ was already facing issues even before the strikes. It’s a reboot of the famous ‘Blade’ trilogy, focusing on Eric Brooks, a well-known vampire hunter from the comics.
‘Blade’ has faced a rocky production journey with numerous delays. The latest rumors suggest that the film will be postponed yet again, shifting its release date from November 7, 2025, to an unspecified date in 2026.
My personal ranking for MCU 2025:
1) Daredevil: Born Again
2) Fantastic Four
3) Thunderbolts
4) Ironheart
5) Captain America: Brave New World
6) Wonder Man
Suspect Zombies, Eyes of Wakanda and What If…? s3 may release next year so expect that ranking to change.

Giancarlo Esposito stirred excitement recently by expressing his interest in joining the MCU as Professor X, albeit without the wheelchair, citing his age. This sparked debate among fans, with some still hoping for Patrick Stewart’s return despite his character’s apparent demise in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’
However, during a panel at Ccxp’s Thunder Stage, Esposito revealed his involvement in a Marvel project but clarified that he won’t be portraying Professor X.
Esposito emphasizes that his upcoming role will arrive sooner rather than later, teasing fans with promises of something “better than you can imagine.” With the current MCU release schedule, only ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is slated for this year, leaving speculation open for Esposito’s potential involvement, perhaps as a variant of an existing character or an original creation. Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster “Captain America: Brave New World” isn’t due in theaters until February 2024, but as you may have noticed by now, companies like McDonald’s are already advertising the film, and various pieces of marketing have revealed some early spoilers. It has been a long five years since Chris Evans said goodbye to the role of Steve Rogers, aka the Og Captain America. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve hands over his shield to Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, who is finally ready to become to next Cap. Although we had glimpses of him coming to terms with this new responsibility in the Disney+ show, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam will finally get his turn as the next leader.

Ever since Steve Rogers decided to hand his shield off to his buddy Sam Wilson (a.k.a. Falcon) at the end of Avengers: Endgame, fans have wondered what was next. We got a Disney+ series that showed Sam’s hesitance to pick up the mantle of Captain America and the history that comes with it. By the end of the series, he knew he was the only person who could take on the role of Captain America. Now, where do we go? It looks like the upcoming story of super heroes and alter egos, Captain America: Brave New World, will tell us when it reaches theatre screens on February 14, 2025.

Avengers: Endgame ended with Steve Rogers passing the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson. Two years later in 2021, we caught up with the hero in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, learning he'd declined Steve's offer (meaning John Walker took his place).
By the time the finale rolled around, Sam had decided to wield the shield and did so in style. Four years after that series hit Disney+, we'll next see the former Falcon take centre stage in Captain America: Brave New World.
After Happy Meal toys, leaked promo art, and more, we finally have an official look at Sam suited up courtesy of Empire Online. The suit looks good here, but many fans have already argued that it's a step back from what we wore in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Marvel fans have waited a long time to see their all-new Captain America in full swing. This year marks half a decade since Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers bowed out of Avengers: Endgame by handing the shield over to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson – and since streaming series The Falcon And The Winter Soldier largely wrestled with Wilson’s decision to take on the Cap mantle, his debut proper as the Star-Spangled Man is coming next year in Captain America: Brave New World. Stepping up to headline status, it’ll be the biggest test of Sam Wilson’s life. “It’s really his coming-out show,” director Julius Onah tells Empire in the Deadpool & Wolverine issue. “It’s about putting him through the paces.”

Captain America: Brave New World was originally set to be released today, May 3, 2024. Instead, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace is being re-released in theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary, an outcome we know many of you will be disappointed by.
While Marvel Studios has managed to push back many of the movie's promotional tie-ins, it seems nothing can stop McDonald's. As a result, Captain America: Brave New World Happy Meal toys are now out in the wild.
That's meant heaps of promo art finding its way online and, today, we can follow that up with a very intriguing rumour.
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, the movie will indeed feature the introduction of Adamantium, the virtually indestructible metal substance best known for coasting Wolverine's bones (a result of Weapon X's experiments on the mutant hero).

The most important rule of a Deadpool movie is, never play by the rules. Fourth walls are to be broken, tropes are to be dismantled, and obvious choices are to be ignored at all costs. And so, the upcoming third big-screen outing for Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With A Mouth is ripping up that rulebook once again, not just bringing back the katana-wielding chaos agent for the regular threequel, but launching him firmly into the realm of Marvel Studios, and pairing him – at long, long last – with none other than Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Get ready for the ultimate Marvel team-up in Deadpool & Wolverine, a bloody buddy comedy like no other – it’s going to be non-stop mutant mayhem.

Captain America: Brave New World is nine months away from swooping into theaters, but more promo art has surfaced today which reveals that Sam Wilson will don a helmet in the movie.
Given how perfect Sam's Captain America suit in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was, there's already been some disappointment among fans that the hero is now basically wearing his Falcon goggles with Steve Rogers' old suit.
This headgear is another big departure and doesn't look that different from Ant-Man's helmet. However, we see a breathing tube which suggests Sam will wear this during a high-altitude battle of some sort.
There's also a nod to Captain America's "A" on the helmet, though it's relatively subtle.
Marvel Studios runs the risk of this feeling like The Falcon wearing Captain America's suit, and the pressure is on to deliver here with Captain America: Brave New World having to follow in...

Captain America: Brave New World, or Captain America 4, is going to mark the return of several characters from The Incredible Hulk. We've had a pretty good idea that Captain America: Brave New World would feature the MCU debut of Red Hulk for a while now, but we recently got confirmation thanks to some McDonald's Happy Meal Toys!
Not an ideal way to get a first look at the rampaging red monster, but the plush toys weren't exactly detailed. Now, thanks to some new promo art, we finally have a proper look at the character design.
The artwork isn't the clearest, but it still gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from Brave New World's take on the transformed General President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford). And no, it doesn't look like he's going to grow the 'stache back when he changes!

Once a scribe is in place, the studio will turn its attention to a director - but there's a good chance Kevin Feige and co. already have a list of filmmakers in mind that they feel could be the right person to bring the iconic mutant heroes back to the big screen.
In the latest edition of his newsletter, Jeff Sneider mentions Moonlight and Mufasa: The Lion King director Barry Jenkins as one filmmaker who could be on Marvel's radar to helm the movie. Sneider doesn't say Jenkins is actually in talks, but he seems to feel that if the upcoming Lion King prequel is a success, he might be a strong contender.

Thanks to last year's strikes, Captain America: Brave New World is one of many 2024 movies now not heading our way until next year.
A few pieces of merchandise have started showing up here and there, though most of it will have been pushed back to coincide with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier sequel's new release date.
Still, it seems nothing will mess up McDonald's Happy Meal schedule as Captain America: Brave New World toys are starting to show up in restaurants across the U.S. As well as a closer look at Red Hulk, we see Diamondback sporting a comic-accurate costume and using the same diamond tips as the version seen on the page.
With rumours swirling that the Serpent Society has been cut from the movie, this may be all we see of her.
The bigger reveal below is new promo art of Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson suited up as Captain America.

While fans are desperately waiting to finally see Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson embrace his new look as the Captain in his upcoming solo movie Captain America 4, they aren’t too sure about Danny Ramirez’s beloved character Joaquín Torres. In fact, if anything, they are deeply worried about the latter’s character in the movie after recent updates about Captain America: Brave New World.

A major reason behind this reaction from fans is the superhero costume that Ramirez would be sporting in the film after his character replaced Wilson to become the new Falcon. And as much as they hate to admit it, seeing him in his new look has fans feeling that he looks more like the Vulture from the Spider-Man saga than anywhere close to how perfect Wilson looked as the superhero.

The upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot, set to hit screens in 2025, is set to bring Marvel’s iconic first family into the MCU, much to fans’ delight. Pedro Pascal is set to portray Reed Richards, despite many fans campaigning for John Krasinski to land the role. Vanessa Kirby will portray Sue Storm, with Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm.
Julia Garner will step into the role of Shalla-Bal, MCU’s take on Silver Surfer, though there are reports suggesting Norrin Radd may also make an appearance in the film.
Given the immense popularity of the Fantastic Four in Marvel lore, fans naturally anticipated a significant presence for them in the MCU’s future.
