As soon as Saw X, the tenth entry in the Saw franchise (you can read our review Here), was released last September, franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules were already talking about the potential of a Saw XI. The official announcement came in December, along with a release date: September 27th. But over the last few months, the filmmakers have come to realize they need some extra time to make Saw XI something special, so the release has been pushed back a year, to September 26, 2025. So Lionsgate has unveiled a teaser trailer asking fans to play the waiting game, and you can check it out in the embed above.

Update: A trailer for Never Let Go was shown during the Lionsgate panel at CinemaCon today, and JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek was in attendance. Here’s a description of what he saw: “Halle Berry and her two kids are living in a cabin after the world ends. This cabin has a rope/pulley system & they must be attached to you when leaving the house. The monsters/entities (they are very vague on what the threat is but its something that is physical) can’t get you with the rope attached to you and so they (monsters?) are trying to convince one child to doubt the rope safety. They want them to detach and if so, we see that it would put them in grave danger. The kids are twins born in a house that they have never left because of the dangers on the outside. The creatures (which you...

Flamethrowers, judo chops, Anjelica Huston, a Keanu Reeves cameo and ballet dancing are just some of the things you’ll see when Lionsgate drops the first trailer for Ballerina. Exhibitors got to see it first Wednesday at CinemaCon.
“You’re childhood was taken from you,” Huston’s matriarch-type tells Ana de Armas’ assassin, who is as fierce offstage as she is on.
The movie directed by Len Wiseman and produced by Chad Stahelski raises the stakes and sets itself apart from the John Wick canon with all the beloved characters starring — including the late Lance Reddick’s Charon at the Continental and Ian McShane’s Winston.
“What a pleasure to see you again!” beams Winston as Ballerina steps out of the elevator.

At CinemaCon on Wednesday, Lionsgate showed off its recently added 2024 fall release, Alexandre Aja’s Never Let Go, a freaky tale about a mother and her fraternal twins who have never gone beyond their forested environs: Whenever they leave the cabin, they are bounded by rope as they venture into the scary woods.
“It was a creepy environment that I had never seen before,” said star Halle Berry, who reteams with the studio that notched her a Best Actress Oscar win for Monster’s Ball.
“I’m a bona fide adrenaline junkie — the bigger the zipline, the bigger the jump — I’m your girl.”
“I had to learn how to skin a squirrel” said Berry about her prep for the role. Not to mention, the characters eat raw frogs in the film.

“If you thought you’d seen me do sword work before, you haven’t seen anything yet.”
Such were Henry Cavill’s promises about the new Highlander movie he’s doing with Lionsgate and John Wick director Chad Stahelski, as the star made an appearance Wednesday at the studio’s CinemaCon sessions in Las Vegas.
But there was more. The actor’s new movie due in 2025 with Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza González, directed by Guy Ritchie, got a title: In the Grey.
The pic centers a group of gunmen who, when billions are stolen, steal them back. The trailer kicks off with a kick-ass sting by Gyllenhaal, Cavill and González in the skinny streets of Europe.
Cavill also stars in Ritchie’s upcoming The Minstry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, about the UK’s recruiting of a small group of highly skilled soldiers to strike against German forces behind enemy lines during...

While Amazon MGM Studios didn’t take the stage at CinemaCon, they did meet with exhibitors and key press to strut their future theatrical slate, in particular they showed off ten minutes of the Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ movie Red One. While we agree to keep mum about the details of the Santa Claus rescue movie, let’s just say the originally conceived for Prime Video title is definitely meant for theatrical, which is where it’s going on Nov. 15; the only wide release currently on that weekend.
Let’s just say that Red One is a fire-breathing Christmas action movie that completely reinvents the holiday genre. There hasn’t been a mass appealing Christmas tentpole in six years, the last being Illumination/Universal’s The Grinch which made over a half billion worldwide. Red One is a really fun original action film for both Johnson and Evans, and...

The 1994 cult classic, The Crow, is in the works for a remake. It has already stirred up both excitement and concern among fans of the original. There’s anticipation to see how Bill Skarsgård will portray the iconic character Eric Draven, yet there is also angst from those who believe the 90’s flick should remain untouched.

Lionsgate delays two of its big release: The Crow remake is still arriving this year, but Saw XI no longer is. More here.
Lionsgate has delayed two of its planned releases, pushing both The Crow and Saw XI out of their respective release slots and further down the line.
Saw XI has been delayed for a full year, with the film being pushed from September 2024 all the way back to September 2025. Given that the project only confirmed that Saw X's Kevin Greutert was returning as director back in February, this one is clearly still in development mode. We haven’t heard any casting news yet, meaning that September release date was simply not doable, especially given that its predecessor, Saw X picked up pretty good reviews.
With the long-running horror series once again on the rise, Lionsgate won’t want to rush out a sequel and damage the series’ newfound momentum.

Lionsgate has adjusted release dates for such high-profile titles as The Crow and Saw XI ahead of the company’s CinemaCon presentation.
The Crow is set for release on Aug. 23 after having previously been dated for June 7. Rupert Sanders’ feature reboot that stars Bill Skarsgard will now compete on that weekend with Amazon MGM Studios’ thriller Blink Twice and Sony Pictures’ faith-based The Forge.
Lionsgate has also moved Saw XI to Sept. 26, 2025, from its previously planned release on Sept. 27, 2024. The franchise is giving a bit of space to the new film after the success of its critically praised Saw X, which hit theaters in September and surpassed $110 million globally.

Lionsgate is shaking up its release slate, with two genre releases affected. While The Crow reboot gets a small delay, don’t expect sequel Saw XI to arrive this Halloween season.
Rupert Sanders’ The Crow is shifting from its June release date and is now set for August 23, 2024, Deadline reports.
Bill Skarsgård leads the cast of The Crow as Eric Draven, with FKA Twigs co-starring. Danny Huston (30 Days of Night) also stars, alongside Laura Birn (Foundation), Sami Bouajila (A Son), and Jordan Bolger (The Woman King).
In the new movie, “Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

Lionsgate is playing a little release date shuffle today as Deadline reports that the studio has made a few changes to the schedule. First off, the release of the upcoming reboot of The Crow has been pushed from June 7th to August 23rd, which sees it getting out of the way of Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
In addition to bumping back The Crow, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have also pushed back the release of Saw XI by a full year. The eleventh installment of the horror franchise was originally slated to hit theaters on September 27th, but the film will now debut on September 26, 2025. Saw XI‘s old release date will be taken over by Never Let Go, a psychological thriller directed by Alexandre Aja and starring Halle Berry. “As Evil takes over the world beyond their front doorstep, the only protection for a mother (Berry) and her twin...

To promote the release of Immaculate, director Michael Mohan participated in post-screening Q&As at select locations throughout the weekend. At last night’s showing at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Boston Seaport, an audience query about post-production challenges led the filmmaker to reveal how the editor of Saw helped save one of the film’s horror sequences.
“The biggest scene that did not work and I’m still not happy with is the scene when Isabelle tries to drown [Cecilia, played by Sydney Sweeney]. I studied a lot of ’70s exploitation movies featuring two women getting in fights, and I wanted it to be like a more direct homage to a genre known as nunsploitation,” Mohan explained.
“I studied some of Jack Hill’s work. Typically what they would do with those types of scenes is they would leave them in a medium-wide shot and just let it play out. The...

2024 is shaping up to be an excellent year for horror movies fans. With the recent drop of the A Quiet Place: Day One trailer and the confirmation of sequels like Smile 2, Terrifier 3, and Saw XI, there’s no shortage of spine-chilling entertainment coming in 2024. But while the big names grab headlines, it’s often the lesser-known and unexpected releases that truly leave an impact. Last year, while everyone was hyped for The Exorcist: Believer, The Nun II, and Insidious: The Red Door, it was the surprise hits like When Evil Lurks and Talk to Me, which came out...

Lionsgate is bringing Saw back to cinemas again this September, as Kevin Greutert signs up as director on Saw XI. More here.
The return of Saw to the big screen (again) last autumn went really rather well, with Saw X earning the best reviews the saga has seen in recent times (and that includes the sort-of spin-off Spiral).
Behind the camera for Saw X was director Kevin Greutert, who had helmed two of the earlier films. And now, the folks over at Bloody Disgusting are reporting that he’s now been confirmed as the director of the upcoming Saw XI.
It’s not the world’s biggest surprise, though, given that Kevin Greutert was playing nicely coy when quizzed about a further chapter during press for the last film, telling us that he’d like to one. Still, it seems confirmed now.

The "Saw" films will continue to slice and dice their way into theaters until morale improves -- or until audiences finally get tired of the über-successful horror franchise. If the universal acclaim and strong box office performance of "Saw X" proved anything, however, it's that a return to its roots was sorely needed. As the eleventh film in the series is scheduled to release later this year, that theme is about to continue in a big way.
We haven't been told much about the cast or even the plot of "Saw XI" since the sequel was first announced back in December of last year, though it's been easy to imagine the creative team picking up on the ongoing prequel storyline almost exactly where they last left off. While the involvement of the man, myth, and legend Tobin Bell remains unclear, we now know that at least one other franchise veteran...

The long-running Saw franchise is headed back to the big screen this Halloween season, with the box office success of last year’s Saw X paving the way for this year’s Saw XI.
Bloody Disgusting can exclusively report this week that Saw X director Kevin Greutert will return to direct the upcoming Saw XI! In addition to Saw X, Greutert directed both Saw VI in 2009 and later Saw: The Final Chapter in 2010, along with the horror movies Jessabelle in 2014 and Jackals more recently in 2017. He also edited Saw I through V and Jigsaw.
This has to be considered very good news for Saw fans, as most felt that Saw X was a much-needed course direction for the franchise, finally bringing it back to the highs of the past. Less than a full month into the New Year, we already have a running list of over 50 horror movies that we cannot wait to see in 2024, and one thing we noticed when looking over that list is that a lot of horror franchises are making big returns in the coming eleven months.
From the spectral spirits of the Ghostbusters franchise to the masked maniacs who call themselves The Strangers, this year is going to be home to several new installments in iconic horror franchises. Here are 10 horror franchises being reanimated in 2024.

The Saw franchise has been collected together in various different sets over the years, with new ones usually coming along whenever new installments join the twisted saga.
There was a Saw 7-film Blu-ray Collection as well as an 8-Film Blu-ray Collection – and they’re both criminally cheap on Amazon, selling for just over $10! – and it’s through Amazon that we’ve learned this week that a brand new Saw 10-Film Blu-ray Collection is on the way!
Celebrating 20 years of the Saw franchise that was originally created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, the Saw 10-Film Collection includes every movie in the franchise up to this point.
That includes Saw X, of course, which just revived the franchise last Halloween!
According to Amazon’s listing, Lionsgate will release the Blu-ray set on March 5, 2024. The current price is $79.99, which isn’t bad when you realize you’re getting Ten movies.

With the new year upon us it is time we ask what movie (tentatively) releasing in 2024 is the one you are looking forward to seeing the most? The strikes took their toll on some of the movies that were meant for this year but we still have a lot to look forward to.
Whether you are wondering how they are going to make a musical sequel with Joker: Folie à Deux or how Deadpool will fit into the MCU or if Beetlejuice 2 and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F can be the rare decades later sequels that actually work?! Jordan Peele has come forth to tease his as-yet-untitled fourth directorial effort, previously dated for Christmas Day 2024, following its strike-imposed removal from Universal Pictures’ release calendar.
Reflecting on the last year in the latest episode of the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, Peele noted that it was an “interesting” one which had him “in a state of listening” amidst the six-month double strike from WGA and SAG-AFTRA.
“I do feel like my next project is clear to me,” he added, in conversation with host Conan O’Brien, “and I’m psyched that I have another film that could be my favorite movie if I make it right.”

Following the release of Jigsaw, it wasn’t clear where the Saw franchise would go, but I doubt anyone expected Chris Rock to pitch the next evolution of the series. Spiral: From the Book of Saw starred Chris Rock as a detective tracking down a Jigsaw copycat and was the first movie in the franchise not to include Tobin Bell. Unfortunately, Spiral only grossed $40 million worldwide and received mixed reviews from critics, squashing any potential sequel.
However, franchise producer Mark Burg isn’t ruling out a Spiral sequel. “Maybe one day we’ll come back to doing a sequel,” Burg told GamesRadar. “Chris Rock would love to do one, but our focus, because of the success and the response to Saw X, is Saw 11.” Saw X featured the grand return of Tobin Bell as John Kramer/Jigsaw, which is clearly what the fans wanted.
